Hi ladies!

Thought it might be nice to have a new thread for the new(ish) year.

Oh that's a shame Ria. Will keep everything crossed for you that you have lost something this week.

Not lost anything this week due to TOM but i have been shopping in New Look this week (cheap and cheerful!) and have managed to buy some clothes from their Inspire range (sizes 18 to 26 i think) in the next size down and i am sooooo pleased about it!

I do hate to brag, but the change in my body shape is so exciting and amazing! It makes all this sodding exercise worth all the effort!

OP posts:
Riadingbetweenthelines · 01/08/2010 22:31

well done RG, you brag all you like, you deserve it. I think New Look are quite small cut too, so going down a size is brilliant.

I have lost 3lb, which is good, but I am (yet again) irrationally disappointed because I was really good the whole time I was away. Treat day today (yippee), but I dragged walked with the boys into the next village (road sign said 1 1/2 miles) to see the scarecrow festival. The way home is up a chuffing massive hill, but it was quite easy going, and my pedometer says over 5 miles, so that's a good start to the new week and will balance my treat a bit

if the weather improves we will be walking all week- as an added bonus (as well as weight loss) it uses up their bickering energy!

I am back to the weight I had got down to for the wedding we went to last September, so it's all good from now on.

Have a good week.

me too (my PN thread has decamped to FBSad)

I deserve to be lost off the page this weekSad damn the school holidays!

RGPargy · 11/08/2010 20:43

How have you been so far this week Ria? Well done on the 3lb off, btw :o Any losses this week?

I have a stinking rotten chesty cold and the last thing i feel like doing is exercise. I did do just the one class today but it's the first time i've been since Saturday morning so i took it easy. I'm hoping it will be gone by Saturday - cant stand this blocked up feeling or, even worse, my severely tight chest!!

Hope you are well Ria (and everyone else!).

:o

Riadingbetweenthelines · 11/08/2010 21:29

Sad RG, hope you feel better. Well done on your fab loss thoughSmile

no loss for me, a gainBlushSad, school holidays are hard work! (too much boozeBlush) Haven't been walking as DH decided to dig up the garden and swap the rockery and veg bed round, so we are having to stay in and garden on his days off (so it gets done before christmas!), and despite masses of sawing and digging etc Imust have eaten more than I've worked off.

I have 2 weeks until I probably go away to the Dales with my parents again, so am trying to give it 100% for just 2 weeks, hopefully see a good result, and then feel inspired to carry on. Hmm it seems to work for other peopleWink. DH bought wine though, and mentioned baguettes for the beef (he got called in to work and missed out on the big roast dinner we were havingAngry)

I have found a new dance class for September thoughSmile, am looking forward to it, even though it's in my village and I am bound to know someone, hopefully I can muster the confidence needed to go and not give a damHmm.

RGPargy · 13/08/2010 12:48

Hi Ria :)

Am feeling much today, thank you, although I still slightly tight chested and blocked up. I've been in bed by around 9pm every night this week and it has worked wonders for aiding my recovery i think!

Sorry to hear about your gain, but you are right, school holidays ARE hard! The booze is such a killer for dieting. I was surprised at how quickly the weight came off just by cutting out drinking during the week but still drinking at weekends. I dont envy you with the gardening tho. I cant stand gardening. Dont know why, but it just doesn't appeal at all!

Hope you get a bit of inspiration for the next two weeks :) Save the wine for the weekend (very hard, i know!), but i am terrible at resisting baguettes too.... Hmm

I think it will be great to go to a dance class in September and if you do see someone you know, hopefully it will give you incentive to go back every time because you know they will be there too. I always used to make sure i went back as i didn't want people to remember me as the fat bird who only went a couple of times and couldn't hack the pace lol. Now i just go coz i love the classes and have built up a great social circle in the classes too so if i dont go, the girls will miss me! I dont want to end up trying to think of excuses as to why i didn't go so i just have to go (unless i'm ill, of course!). :o

All you have to remember when you do go is that you are there for YOU and not for anyone else in the class! :o

thanks RGSmile

have had 3 brilliabt days food-wise, and no baguette, and the wine is still in the fridge unopenedShock. had a little chat with myself earlier, and "we" agreed that even though I am seriously pissed off, chocolate, wine and crisps will not make it better!

now to get through the weekend...

RGPargy · 20/08/2010 12:34

Hi Ria :o

How are you getting on?

I've been a bit stagnant with my weight loss over the last couple of weeks, probably due to one week going out on the beer with my friend, the following week the weekend alcohol started on Thursday so that was a few extra days of wine to stop me losing anything and then this week is TOM! I know where i am going wrong. The booze is creeping back in and the portion sizes are creeping back up! I have to nip this in the bud otherwise i wont lose anything and will stay at 17.7 for the next year!

I'm off to Spain on Thursday until Monday so i know i wont be watching what i eat too much, although i will try and go for the healthy options when we eat but there's no way i'm holding back on the booze!! Especially as i will be able to have a good few drinks and will NOT have to wake up to a toddler! Yay!!

How are the DC treating you this week Ria?

Riadingbetweenthelines · 20/08/2010 15:13

Hi RG. I had a fab week and lost 7lbGrin (last weeks gain and a bit more), slipped a bit the last couple of days thoughHmm

Am cooking like a mad thing (which I hate, hence too much wine) for our holiday next week, apparently we are going on Monday evening (I didn't know this but DH is refurbing his work kitchen Monday, so doesn't have to work the evening - yeah right!), am making SW-friendly stuff for every night, DH can give my mum a couple of things to bring up when she comes to join us when he comes home, and 2 nights BBQ-ed meant and salad, and hopefully I'll come back under 17st, but of course there's the wine to consider... I hate having to think about meal-planning when we're away, so hopefully this will work all round.

The boys have done a few more organised activities this week, so that's been a nice break. DS1 is really suffering with his eczemaSad (and he has been dumped by his girlfiend and has hairy armpitsShock, but you didn't need to know that, it was just a shock and I needed to shareWink)

RGPargy · 20/08/2010 16:48

Wowsers Ria!!! Well-bloody-done you!!! :o So pleased for you!! Keep it up and dont slip up too much (easier said than done tho!).

I dont envy you doing a cookathon, although if you are going to control what you are eating it is absolutely the best thing to do!

Poor DS1!! You did make me literally LOL re the hairy armpits!! :o It's a shocker when that happens isn't it. Hope the "Kevin" hormones that will no doubt follow (if they've not already arrived) aren't too harsh on you too lol.

Hope you have a lovely holiday!! I'll be in Spain from Thursday to Monday so will be on my hols too! Yay!! :o

Hi RGSmile

Riadingbetweenthelines · 07/09/2010 12:35

just back from my new dance classSmile. I did the 45min beginnners ballroom and latin, and then the dancersize straight after... now i just need some co-ordination (or, as in Peppa Pig "grace and beuaty"Wink)

how you guys doing?

Riadingbetweenthelines · 07/09/2010 22:21

banana bread Enjoy!!! the book says about replacing 25g of flour with cocoa powder and adding 100g of chopped dark chocolate...

damn Nigella!

RGPargy · 10/09/2010 12:43

Hi Ria

Well done on the dance classes! did you enjoy them? Sod the "grace and beauty", just enjoy yourself! Wink

Thanks for the Banana Bread recipe. It looks scrummy, although I am tempted to think it is more of a banana CAKE than a bread, with all that sugary stuff in it! Wink Doesn't stop it looking (and no doubt tasting) bloody lovely tho!! :o

I am going to make banana bread tonight (from a recipe that is meant for babies, so no added sugar etc) and try it out on my gym buddies tomorrow. One of them is diabetic so I am hoping that as it has no added sugar, it'll be fine for her to have. If she likes it, i'll make one and take it to the fitness weekender for us to munch on. :o

OP posts:
Riadingbetweenthelines · 11/09/2010 10:08

Did you enjoy Spain RG??

I aren't usually fond of cooked bananas, but that was a nice recipe.

what is your fitness weekender? sounds interesting.

cleaning up the kitchen and fridge, and menu planning for me today.

and Strictly tonightGrin

have a good weekend

RGPargy · 11/09/2010 23:39

Yes thanx Ria, Spain was lovely although slightly too hot for my liking! It was 34 degrees most days and only went down to 28 degrees and that was at 2am!!

Here is the Fitness Weekender.

Never did make the banana bread last night. I fell asleep on the sofa instead lol. :o

I am going to make it tomorrow instead. I am not going to the gym tomorrow (most likely) as the normal instructor is off this week and i dont fancy being instructed by her replacement this week as he is a bit of a "me me me" bloke and can be a bit annoying at times. Good excuse for a Sunday off! :o

Have a good weekend too!

OP posts:
Riadingbetweenthelines · 12/09/2010 00:27

wow, looks good G.

that sounds too hot fr me too!

I have the joy of taking the boys to the open day at BILs coastguard station tomorrow. Yippee. Luckily my Dad is going too so he can do the neccessary enthusiasm!

Riadingbetweenthelines · 12/09/2010 00:27

oops, RG evenBlush

RGPargy · 12/09/2010 01:07

Sounds, erm, lovely, Ria! Hmm

We have a local airport open day tomorrow too so we may very well drag DD along to that to get her out of the house for a bit. Not my cup of tea really but I think DD might enjoy it. :)

Jammyrella · 13/09/2010 20:09

Let me know how the weekend is RG, I was wondering about doing somthing like that in the Spring.

First week of (this attempt at) healthy eating went well - 4kg gone! Am using myfitnesspal.com to help track what I'm eating (recommended by another MNer), and am finding it is focussing the mind. Had a huge veg&turkey stir fry tonight, all v healthy but filling, and in another hour I'm going swimming!

Lifeboats and airports though? Mmmm, rather you than me!

Riadingbetweenthelines · 14/09/2010 00:56

Hi Jammy, good to see you back on MN (I am missing the PN thread) and well done on the swimming and the 4kg. Are you dancing this week?

I need a kick, fell off the healthy eating when the kids started trying to kill each other around 4.14, and also they were having lovely Sunday roast that DH brought them from work (he makes v nice yorkshire puddings). Can also feel my confidence slipping about dance class in the morning, as I haven't miraculously become delicate and graceful since last week Sad (partly also because as DH is at the GP I am taking DS3 to nursery purely so I can go to my class, and I feel selfish)

coastguard station was boring (except eavesdropping on a 999) but the boys got to look around the air/sea rescue helicopter (and the pilot had a nice bumWink) and an ambulance and fire engine. I think my sister is planning an overhaul of the event for next year with another coastguard wife and they will be doing teas and bouncy castle etc. I remember my mum and dad took me to East Midlands (I think) airport to look at planes when I was about 9/10. I think it was the first time they were going on a plane when they flew to Jersey for their silver wedding, so I suppose we just went for a look (maybe so I didn't feel left out as they abandoned me to the care of my sisters for a week!)

Jammyrella · 14/09/2010 19:34

Hi Ria. Didn't go swimming in the end BlushSad but am dancing tomorrow, and I did just have a v brisk walk (30 min round trip) to the pool to pick up the timetable so I can get more organised so I DO go swimming in future.
