dc3 is nearly 4m. From past experience, I know that my baby weight tends to drop off once I start weaning ... but am quite keen to get a head start this time round.

Anyone in the same boat and fancy joining me? could use the support!!

Hi all - can I join you?

I have a 4 mth old DD. Until now I have been exclusively BF but am now starting to combination feed.

My aim is to be back to my pre pregnancy weight by the time I go back to work in early June, and my ideal weight by DD's first birthday at the end of November.

I have been losing about 1lb a week for a couple of months now through exercise rather than diet.

DD has eczema so I have today started cutting out dairy to see if that has any effect. I am hoping that the side effect will be an accelerated weight loss for me, but cutting out cheese is going to be difficult .

Anyway that is me, and these are my stats.

Height - 5ft 7"
Pre Preg - 12st 3lbs (size 14)
Current - 13st 1lb (size 16)
Desired Weight - 10st 7lbs or a comfortable size 12

MaLopez · 11/04/2010 04:52

Thanks Naetha. Started low carbing again and do well for about 3 days and then fall off, climb back on for another 3 days and ... Aaahhh

Well done for the continued weight loss. I think you should write a mini book and email it to me Need all the motivation I can get. I read up on Lipobind but it said not to use it while breastfeeding. Hmmp. will read further.

Feel better for venting. posting this at 4.51am after another feed. Need sleeep.

Welcome dragged.

Naetha · 11/04/2010 09:47

Welcome Dragged and hi MaLopez again

With lots of things you're not meant to do them while breastfeeding (such as dieting full stop!). I read carefully about the lipobind, and it has no "active" ingredients, it's just a fibre that absorbs fat, so nothing to pass over in breastmilk. I tried it for a week while carefully monitoring my milk and DDs weight and there were no problems. Like I said, I'm not massively dieting (as you can tell from my gradual weight loss) and I'd only use it after a very fatty meal (e.g. fish and chips).

Dragged - looks like you've set yourself some good goals. Best of luck with the cheese though - that's one of my downfalls too! I can be fine for a week with no cheese, then I'll binge on a load of cheddar or brie!

bedhed · 11/04/2010 21:18

hi all

welcome dragged and malopez.

well I have lost another 4lbs so now at 9 stone 4lbs. all down to being dairy free (also cut out soya and egg) as i have not been restricting my intake at all.

Sorry to hear your dd has eczema too draggrd, its awful isn't it. My dds has improved slightly but she is still having regular flare-ups.

Well done on your continued weght loss Naetha and esp for getting under the 80 mark.

amummy30 · 13/04/2010 21:37

hi everyone can i join!!
ds2 is currently 12 weeks and exclusively breastfed! my pre pregnancy weight was 13 stone 2! last week I joined slimming world and was 12 stone 10, had my firt slimming world weigh in yesterday and lost 6pounds, god knows how, but i'm really strict even though im having extras advised for a breastfeeding mum, ideally I want to be 10 stone, but i've wanted to be that for years!! really need motivation and support to keep at it

Ninjacat · 14/04/2010 09:39

Hello all.

After giving up I managed to drag myself back to the scales today. 4lb off! So feel I should try again.

Feel a bit daunted by the sheer amount I need to loose but I suppose small goals might help.

LargeGlassofRed · 14/04/2010 10:12

hi all,
glad i've found this thread, need to bite the bullet and sort my weight out.
I've been doing that tired, comfort eating thing, way to much and half the time its just habbit.

I'm still breastfeeding twin boys who are 9 months I have 3 other dc's too.

I'm 6ft and weigh
13 stone 2 gulp
Pre pregnancy I weighed 12 stone 10
I would like to weigh 11 stone 11.

Haven't got much time today but will have a read through tonight and try and get some ideas, I need quick easy meals which the whole family can eat and snack ideas as I my appitite is huge!

amummy30 · 14/04/2010 10:50

hi largeglassofred, have you tried slimming world?? great if uve got a big appetite and you can do big family meals, and maybe just give everyone else added extra!!

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 14/04/2010 18:11

There is a big lump of my favourite cheese in the fridge torturing me.

DD's eczema is starting to clear up though so I just need to think about her instead of my gluttonous ways.

Weigh in is Sunday and I am hoping to be under 13st, which will encourage me to keep going.

Sorry for the random post - I just needed to get it off my chest

Ninjacat · 15/04/2010 15:28

Leave the cheese to the mice

LetThemEatCake · 15/04/2010 20:05

gosh sorry I totally abandoned this thread!! really glad everyone is doing so well. I'm below my pre-preg weight now but am going to keep going as am slightly obsessed

OP posts:
GoldenSnitch · 15/04/2010 20:47

lost this thread but I've found you all again

Food for today:
Breakfast - 2 slices of toast with butter
Lunch - Cheese quasadillas with onion chutney, strawberries
Dinner - Lasagne and salad
Snack - 2 slices of toast with butter

Have had a couple of glasses of coke though I don't drink tea or coffee and needed some caffiene.

Have also run more than half of my 2k starter route tonight and did a quick walk for the rest. Kept my heart beating and myself out of breath for the whole route.

Going to weigh myself on Mondays to see if I'm losing any. Starting the 30 day shred tomorrow too. So far haven't noticed any change in supply for BF so am going to try stepping it up a level

LargeGlassofRed · 16/04/2010 21:28

amummy30 thanks I slimming world girl, I lost 4 and half stone after baby number 2, then worked for them for a while. well done for your first weight loss thats fantastic
I bought a few staples today and I'm going to try and organize my weeks meals.
hedge I am awful with cheese, I was good and bought some cottage cheese today.
latthemeatcake well done, so good when your in the zone, I could do with a large slice of that!
goldenSnitch I'm with you with the caffiene I try not to overdo it but am a coffee addict

Naetha · 17/04/2010 13:50

Just a quickie as both kids are in bed and I need to do some gardening!

Only 100g lost this week, but I'm happy to have a plateau for a while to psych myself up for the last 5kg.

I still have 2 months to go until my target date, so there's no rush.

Best of luck to all of you - keep at it

mrsbean78 · 17/04/2010 14:02

Wow, great successes here.
My ds is 20 weeks on Tues and I am 13 stone 13! (I'm 5 ft 8). So size 16-18. Was 12 stone 10 when I conceived but that was very big for me, had put on weight after being on steroids.. was 10st three years ago.. so absolutley horrified..

Ate v well during pregnancy (following dietary guidelines on what pg women need) until the last four weeks (two while overdue) when I put on 16lbs. I feel that this accounts for all the additional weight now..

Want to get back to 11st (ideally 10 and a half) before ttc no. 2, hopefully sometime between Dec and Feb next year.

mrsbean78 · 17/04/2010 14:03

Meant to say, am doing ww for now.

Ninjacat · 17/04/2010 19:05

MrsBean SNAP. I am the same height and weight as you and my ds is 19weeks. 11st is also my target.

LetThemEatCake · 17/04/2010 20:44

little update from me: am now just below 10 stone, having been 11 when the thread started. Am 5'10". Have been restricting intake quite a lot, really (have OTT tendencies, truth be told) Anyway, have noticed that ds, now approaching 7 months, has been waking up more at night despite being on 2 solid meals a day ... eventually I wondered whether the quality of my breastmilk was being affected by lack of carbs and fats in my diet ... so had a reasonably 'relaxed' day the other day - porridge, pasta, avocado, mackerel etc and guess what? he only woke up once.

What do you think? coincidence or something to take into consideration? Am reluctant to up my intake as I have an image of being 9 stone in my head but would also like to get some sleep!!!

well done to everyone else, keep at it!!

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 19/04/2010 11:07

OK weighed in yesterday and was 12st 13lbs, so on target and now under 13st which is a good psychological hurdle to get over. I have told myself that I am never going to be over 13st again (but am fully aware I am one cake away from it ).

Am a bit disappointed that I didn't lose more due to my dairy free diet, but I did overcompensate for what I told myself I was missing out on, with extra bread and pasta.

LTEC - your question is a good one as DD was waking far more at night last week, which was the first week of being dairy free. I hadn't thought about the fact that it might be my diet. I might try to incorporate more non dairy fats.

LetThemEatCake · 19/04/2010 14:36

well done dragged - those psychological milestones are so important. I too am dairy-free but make sure o have nuts (every day) avocadoes & oily fish (3x a week) so maybe give those a go?

well, after having only a banana & handful of nuts yesterday (was rushing around, no chance to eat) I had a carb-heavy late lunch (oats, sultanas, rice milk, seeds & a bit of honey) DC3 has his dinner at 4.30, followed by loooooooong bf while DCs 1&2 eat, and then another long'un to get him off to sleep. So I though the timing was prob right to ensure the sugars hit my milk supply.

Went down no probs, woke at 11, another long-ish feed, woke at 3, short feed, woke at 7am.

So I think that's my answer.

Dinner was tomato soup followed by raspberries & a touch of zero-fat yoghurt.

Trying not to feel torn by fact that a friend I saw y'day honed today to tell me that have lost so much weight that I looked like a movie star. Baby comes first!! Besides, big sunnies can only do so much for your looks when you're sleeping 2 hours a night

OP posts:
GoldenSnitch · 21/04/2010 08:03

DD's stopped sleeping through the night but I'm only exercising not really dieting. Plus, I've only lost 2lbs.

I'm hoping hers is a growth spurt rather than milk quality else I'm looking at staying this fat until she's weaned

Naetha · 24/04/2010 19:39

78.4kg this morning - getting there

Made the decision to go from BF onto formula over the next couple of weeks. It's convenient and cheap, but interfering in my personal life a little now, and I really want my boobs back. Not to mention that DD has started biting and pulling off mid let-down to have a nosey about. She's fine with a bottle so I don't foresee any problems.

I'm still aiming for 75kgs, but long term, as long as I don't let my weight go above 80kg again, I'll be happy I reckon.

Well done for getting under 13st Dragged

Ninjacat · 28/04/2010 16:26

Ok it's slow but it is moving.
Weighed in this morning at 13st 8lb so that's 5 of the little buggers gone just another 36 to go

Naetha · 01/05/2010 11:16

Well done Ninjacat Every pound counts.

No change for me this week, but tbh I'm not even really dieting now. I've had a really bad cold the last two weeks, so haven't been doing any exercise really, but getting back into it now, so things should start to move again.

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 04/05/2010 10:16

Ok a quick update from me. My target for last weekend was 12st 10lbs and unfortunately I am 12st 12lbs. My plan to get back on track is to lose 2lbs this week and 2lbs next week (instead of the normal 1lb).

It is quite disappointing but at least I haven't put any on, and I am really determined to keep to my target.

I think I will dig out my Paul McKenna book and CD and see if that helps.
