'Drop A Dress Size In 2 Weeks' anyone want to join me?

Hi did anyone see the program the other week I think it was called 'My Big Fat Diet' or something like that.

Essentially it involves eating 1200 Kcals per day for 2 weeks. 300 Kcals for breakfast, 400 kcals for lunch and 500 kcals for dinner.

I know it may sound a bit faddy but I know that if you reduce your calorie intake and do some exercise then you loose weight.

I just need some motivation and some boundaries and I am hoping this approach might help me to stop snacking and reduce my portion sizes. I am also keen to get results. I am 5"4 and weight approx 10 stone. I will weigh in tomorrow am. I want to loose about a stone in the first instance.

I am starting tomorrow and plan to do this for 2 weeks. Anyone saw the program and want to join me?

didn't see the program but sounds about like what I am trying to do at the moment, I am keeping my calories between 1200-1500 everyday, keeping a food diary, trying to do at least 30mins on the wii fit everyday as well as being as active as I can.
I started NYD and have lost 4 lbs so far,
I ideally want to lose a stone by 20th Feb (dh is taking me away for our anniversary) and another stone by my birthday in May.
I have always found writing down every single thing I eat wors for me, just got very lazy last year and out abot a stone on.

lilianfox · 11/01/2010 15:29

Hi ditavonteesed how long have you been doing this? Congratulations on losing 4 lbs! What is NYD? I would imagine that keeping to 1200-500 a day you would be able to lose a stone by 20th feb. How long you been doing it so far?

Today I have managed to keep to 300 kcals breakfast & 400 kcals lunch & no snacking which is a real breakthrough. I've just got to get through this evening with 500 kcals to go.

sorry new years day, I am on 874 kcals so far today, just accidentally ate one of the kinder bars I got for the after school treat.
I did half an hour on the wii fit this morning plus the school run dragging a toddler in the ice.
I can only dream of weighing 9 stone anything, after I had dd2 I lost 4 stone and still didn't manage to get under 10 stone. got to 10.4 which was pretty spot on for me, so essentially that is my over all aim, I am a size 10 at that so I reckon thats probably ok.

lilianfox · 11/01/2010 21:46

Hi good on you it sounds as if you are on track for the day. If you've done wii fit as well then you must have burnt off some extra cals. I have a toddler as well (just one dd) and quite often I do end up eating her left overs. I have managed to stay within my limits today and I am just starting to feel like picking this evening so I'm going to try and stay away from the kitchen!

ditavonteesed · 12/01/2010 07:48

remembered this thread and thought I need to eat some breakfast before I take dd2 swimming, thanks.

leothelioness · 12/01/2010 07:58

Hi I will join if it is OK would love to drop a dress size and get fitter in the process. I am a little bit shorter than you at 5'2" and weigh about 9.7 would love to get to the 8.7. I will start from today as I have not had breakfast yet Good luck. My problem is I comfort eat and pick at food plus have a habit of finishing off LOs leftovers so a food diary sounds like a good way to keep this under control.

lilianfox · 12/01/2010 08:56

Hi welcome leothelioness it's great if you join us. This is my second day today. Yesterday I managed to stay within the 1200. Hope you have a good day ditavonteesed. I've just had breakfast too some weetabix 1/2 pint skimmed milk (219 kcals). This thread also helped me stay on track yesterday . I have started to write log what I am eating as well.

Hi, could I join you too? Sounds like what I'm trying to do. Am off for a girls weekend at the end of the month and would like to lose 1/2 stone by then. I started today and have done OK (apart from a bit of ds' chocolate )
I am 5'7" and weighed in at 10 stone 3 pounds this morning. My end target is 9.5 stone by Easter so can go reasonably slowly I think. My downfall is definately chocolate and snacks and evenings are a danger zone. Munching on celery doesn't quite do it for me.
Will be great to support each other to keep going. Also think the food log is a good idea. Good luck everyone.

Floopy21 · 12/01/2010 16:26

I've been doing this too recently, hope to drop a size by 28th Jan for birthday celebrations with friends in London. I find the daily plate at livestrong.com is good for tracking everything I eat (then I can be disgusted with myself at a quick glance )

Just think, the initial bit is only for a couple of weeks. I think then the recommendation is for around 1400 calories per day? Will have to re-watch the programme...

lilianfox · 12/01/2010 20:06

Hi there madhairingintothetens (how do you like that to be abbreviated?) & Floopy21. It would be great if you joined us. I def need the support. Sounds like we all have similar amounts we want to lose. My downfall is also snacking in the evening... definate danger zone.

In fact I think i have learnt a lesson today. I had not had anything to eat since lunch and went to supermarket to shop and when I got home ended up eating more than I planned. Although I don't think I ate loads I haven't added it up yet so I maybe still in my kcals for the day but I got over hungry & started to pick. I definately need to plan more in advance & not let myself get too hungry. After reading your posts though I'm going to try not to go down hill snacking for the rest of the evening. . Floopy21 I think i have to keep focused that it is only for first 2 weeks the 1,200!

OP posts:
Floopy21 · 12/01/2010 20:27

Evening eating is defo my downfall too, I can happily eat virtually nothing all day then eat enough for ten men when I get home! Feeling virtuous today though, gym and a 40cal highlights rather than a big fat choc bar...only for two weeks, only for two weeks, only for...

leothelioness · 13/01/2010 09:27

Hi everyone,

I fell of the wagon yesterday envening and think passed my calorie allownace by picking at bits and pieces while making dinner. i think I need to be more aware of when my sugar levels are dropping and make sure i have some healthy stuff around to snack on when i feel peckish.
So far this morning i have had a bowl of museli with semi-skimmed milk and a cup of tea.

ditavonteesed · 13/01/2010 09:39

well I did really well in the day yesterday, then had a downer about a job appliucation, a crap night atb work and ended up eating 2 packs of McCoys and a twix at work, at least it wasn't the pizza that the otheres ordered.
Back on it today, trying to decide what to have for breakfast, think poached eggs may hit the spot. Haven't managed to get on the wii fit yesterday and won't today either, trying to be more activre at homr though.

lilianfox · 13/01/2010 10:01

Hi there

Sorry to hear about the job application ditavonteesed. I strayed a bit yesterday as well in the day and lost track of my cals. however, i managed not to go the whole hog and snack in the evening. I am back on for it today though and I'm going for it! Started off with 2 weetabix and 1/2 pint skimmed milk. Good luck all x I love cadbury's highlights!

OP posts:
leothelioness · 13/01/2010 12:51

Sorry to hear about you job app. dita. So far i have been quite good but don't have too many calories left for tonight so that will be the test to see if I can stick to them. No exescise for me a such today either but have been tidying and on my feet a fair bit plus i walk the kids to and from school so I should burn atleast a few calories that way.

madhairingintothetens · 13/01/2010 16:03

Hi all

Sorry you had a bad evening dita and that the job app was hard going.
Well done everyone, sounds like you're all doing well, we all have the occasional mishap!
Lilian you can call me madhair, I've had various variations on this name for a while now as I get bored of my names easily.
I've done alright today. I had ready brek this morning then went to the gym [smug emoticon] and had soup for lunch. Cooking lasagne for tea which could be my downfall today as I could easily eat too much of it. Must drink huge glass of water first to fill myself up, it's a good trick that works if I remember to do it.

lilianfox · 14/01/2010 01:57

Hi how did you all get on this evening? Wednesday evening? madhair and leo? madhair how did you get on with your lasagne? Sounds like you had good days though eating wise.

I also ate my calorie intake by about 6 pm but fortunately I fell asleep when I was putting my dd to bed and I only just woke up so I didn't do any snacking! i stayed more or less in my range today

Actually I do find sometimes that when I am tired I can feel or think i am feeling really hungry when what I need is a sleep.

Here's for tomorrow day 4 for me i think.

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 14/01/2010 08:13

lf I remember when dd2 was tiny I used to eat sugary stuff all the time when I was really just tired.
Lasagne sounds good.
I have weighed myself this morning and have lost another 2lbs, so well chuffed, thats 6lbs since New Year.
Definatley the way to start the day feeling good, now going to have some porridge, rather than my usual nothing then biscuits at playgroup. feeling very motivated.

leothelioness · 14/01/2010 08:57

Well done on the weight loss dita. I have not weighed yet but plan to tomorrow so fingers crossed that i will have shifted atleast a tiny bit. I was quite good yesterday and kept more or less within my calorie recommendation.
Today so far have had a healthy breakfast and some tea. I need to drink more water though as I think I am getting dehydrated and always forget to drink in the cold weather.

Floopy21 · 14/01/2010 09:05

oooo, it sounds like everyone's doing brilliantly! I weighed myself this morning & I haven't lost anything for ages - a pound or two when I started & then nothing. No gym yesterday & two glasses of red wine, but still within the calorie limit.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm lasagne. I could eat that now

leothelioness · 14/01/2010 14:38

Stay away from the lasagne Flopsy send it to me instead.

I have been very good today had a humus and salad wrap for lunch instead of the pizza I was tempted to have and am making lean lamb chops and veg for dinner.

I am well within my calorie allowance today so may have a little treat later if all goes well.

madhairingintothetens · 14/01/2010 17:49

Well done dita on the weight loss, that's brilliant.
Keep at it everyone, sounds like you're all doing well. Leo the humus wrap sounds gorgeous, love humus.
Lilian how did you get on today? And what were you doing on MN at 2am??
Floopy hang in there. Red wine bit of a downfall for me too.
Did OK and didn't have too much lasagne and had lots of salad with it (and red wine). Today was OK apart from when my neighbour came round with freshly baked cookies (she's from the US) which were mouthwatering, I mean how could I refuse?) But apart from that have kept it down to my calorie limit. Dh is out tonight and I know I'll be tempted to snack, we still have so much chocolate and too many biscuits from Christmas. Will have to find an aversion tactic....

leothelioness · 15/01/2010 08:07

Good Morning everyone,

I am quite pleased I have weighed today and have lost 2 lbs over the past few days. It is great to see the weight shifting by a number of small healthy changes. i am still not drinking enough water so have just filled up a 1.5 litre bottle and but it on the kitchen counter so I can remind myself to drink more.
Madhairing I love american style cookies (yum).

Floopy21 · 15/01/2010 09:42

MadH - it would have been very rude to refuse

Leo - 2 lbs in a few days. Wow. I bet you feel very chuffed.

I gymed again, but found it quite difficult for some reason. Got home & ate cheese (another one of my downfalls!) & veg. Well below the calorie limit (if you detract what I burnt off at the gym), so if I don't lose soon, I'm falling off the wagon with disheartnement! Either that or full on starvation...who am I kidding? I luuuurve the food
