'Drop A Dress Size In 2 Weeks' anyone want to join me?

Hi did anyone see the program the other week I think it was called 'My Big Fat Diet' or something like that.

Essentially it involves eating 1200 Kcals per day for 2 weeks. 300 Kcals for breakfast, 400 kcals for lunch and 500 kcals for dinner.

I know it may sound a bit faddy but I know that if you reduce your calorie intake and do some exercise then you loose weight.

I just need some motivation and some boundaries and I am hoping this approach might help me to stop snacking and reduce my portion sizes. I am also keen to get results. I am 5"4 and weight approx 10 stone. I will weigh in tomorrow am. I want to loose about a stone in the first instance.

I am starting tomorrow and plan to do this for 2 weeks. Anyone saw the program and want to join me?

Floopy I am sure you will have lost some weight, you are so good going to gym I can't even be asked to drag my arse to the treadmill in the spare room. I love food too and could never contemplate a strict diet which cutting anything out completely because I Know I don't have the will power to do it for more than 24 hours (if that).

Floopy21 · 15/01/2010 11:01

Doing a bit of exercise (for the first time in a while!) has made me feel quite good, my energy levels are starting to pick up & I'm sleeping better. It's only been twice this week, but better than nunce! It's my new 'going out' - sad huh?!

leothelioness · 15/01/2010 11:19

No, its great floopy I find that my energy levels improved dramatically when I was running but christmas etc and it all went down the pan. Must start again soon.

madhairingintothetens · 15/01/2010 11:54

morning everyone.

Floopy well done on keeping it up at the gym, it really does affect your energy levels doesn't it, you'll see a big difference soon.
Leo yay on the weight loss, that's a great incentive to keep going
I meant to go to the gym today but I'm on af and feel grotty so had a bath instead not quite the same. Trouble is I now want chocolate and my work today is very boring and I can't distract myself (apart from MNing of course).
I weighed myself this am and still 10st3. V disappointed as have been good this week, but I guess I'm daft to weigh myself on first day of period as I'm always bloated then (at least I'm convincing myself that's why!)
Have done alright so far today. Planning pasta for dinner so will have v small portion of pasta and loads of the veg sauce.
Keep it up girls.

lilianfox · 15/01/2010 22:37

Hi there

congratulations on all of you who are losing weight. I'm not sure if I have lost anything yet. I had one good day and then today I haven't gone mad but I have picked abit. I think for me if I really want to loose weight then I absolutely have to stick within kcals limit or it just doesn't shift. Everyone sounds as if they are doing so well. It has given me some renewed motivation. I think your period can definately influence your weight etc so don't worry. I know it can be disheartening when you are trying really hard and you don't lose anything. I think I need to see myself losing a few pounds to get really going! I suppose it's only me who can make the decision to do it.

I'll join!

I'm just going to have this doughnut first though.

ditavonteesed · 16/01/2010 06:45

mad hair, if you are the same on the first day of your period then I reckon you have probably lost 2lbs, I always put between 2 and 4 on.
I have a boring day at work today so Sat is the day I am letting myself off.
Darcymum, don't do it, although since the post was last night probably a bit late.
I wanted some crisps fr9om the tuckshop at work the other night, and then I remember how good it felt weighing myself, so I had some fruit instead, I don't know hiow often that one will work for me though.

leothelioness · 16/01/2010 06:58

Well done for staying away from the crisps dita.
Madhairing I am always heavier on the first day of my period too so I am sure you have already lost something even if is does not show on the scales just yet. Mind you I have not had a period for the last 18 months (mirena) and i am sure that has added to the difficult I have now in losing weight. Before the coil I lost weight quite easily with little effort now it required much more dicipline but i guess that could be my metabolism slowing down too.
Darcymum welcome and I hope you enjoyed you doughnut and make up for it by being extra good today

lilianfox · 17/01/2010 18:01

Hi there

How are your weekends going? SazzlesA that's an amazing commitment and loss. Hi Darcy mum welcome: how has it gone today? Leo are you wanting to start running again? I was doing some running before and building up and I want to get back into it. I don't know what's happened to my motivation though? Not such a great couple of days for me. Not going to give up though and I'm gonna make sure I log in here every day just to keep me on track. Madhair how are you feeling today?

OP posts:
leothelioness · 18/01/2010 09:08

hi everyone,

Wow SazzlesA that is a great loss. Lillian I would love to start running but seem to keep getting sidetracked. The week end was not great for me I was hosting a dinner party yesterday and spent most of the day in the kitchen (picking at various things) and eat a burger and fries on saturday anyway I am not giving up and will be extra good today.

madhairingintothetens · 18/01/2010 10:46

Morning everyone

Weekends are always difficult aren't they, don't beat yourself up leo, just put it behind you and back to it today.
SazzlesA that's amazing, what a brilliant weight loss.
Darcymum - hi, how was the doughnut (mmmm, doughnut...)
Lilian and dita, how are you going?
I too had a not great weekend food wise (but great socially so I won't worry too much) - was at a friends on Saturday and she is just an amazing cook.
Back to it today though and will be v good. Have two meals out this week so need to be extra careful so can still enjoy them.
Weighed again this morning - 10st2, so lost a pound. In the right direction I guess but hoped for more with a week of being good. I am obviously going to have to try harder. huh.

Floopy21 · 19/01/2010 14:36

Impressive Sazzles! That's incredible discipline. I'm finding it difficult doing two weeks, you've done 9 months...puts it in perspective.

MadH, a pound is a pound, well done. It'll all add up quickly.

Leo - sounds like you had fun. That's the main thing huh? Who wants to be on a diet & have NO JOY in their lives? hardly seems worth it!

I had highs & lows over the weekend (calorie speaking!) Eggs benedict on saturday morning (I looked it up online, an estimated 41 grams of fat!!!! That's about two days worth!) Porridge with prunes on Sunday morning. Can you guess which tasted better?!

I always find it difficult at the weekends. The next two are packed with dinners & drinks out with friends, so I'm going to allow myself that time 'off' (within reason - no puddings!)& enjoy myself. I'm still gyming & I don't go out often, so I've talked myself into a bottle of wine...or two! Sorry to let the side down, but it will be my birthday & I'll get fat if I want to

leothelioness · 19/01/2010 15:50

hiya everyone,
Floopy you are abosulutely right what is the fun of being healthy if we can't enjoy life once in a while.

Madhair a pound is great imagine the difference it will make if you loose a pound a week for a month or two.

I am doing ok today but there are still left overs in the fridge looking at me!

Hi there girls,
Sorry to butt in, but Ive just been reading all your progress and I must say its all brilliant! I'm 5'7' and 10st10lb, (put on 6lb over crimbo!! ) what I'm aiming for is to get down to around 9st10lb.

I started the 2 week 1200 calorie diet yesterday and to be honest have found writing what I eat down for the last 2 days a real eye opener. It really makes me think about what I'm putting in my mouth and what physical things I can do to burn extra calories. Foodfocus is a fab website!

Not gonna weigh myself til monday so hopefully with an entire week of 1200 cal/day I should have an encouraging result [fingers crossed emoticon]

Hope its ok to join to peeps

lilianfox · 19/01/2010 21:42

Hi just popping in briefly and read all your threads. Will try and post later. Madhair I also didn't have a great weekend but managed to lose a 1lb so that's good. I started off well yesterday only to devour 4 hotcross buns! Today has been a good though and I've managed to stay in my limit! Glad i'm not the only one finding it difficult leo it is difficult as 1200 are not many kcals to have in one day as I give myself a hard time about it. Glad everyone is persisting though. Welcome Tetty. I really want to lose this weight now before trying for another baby! Now this stone weight is all that is holding me back! xxx

madhairday · 19/01/2010 22:14

Welcome Tetty.
Well done everyone, keep it up.
I've lost 4lb since yesterday - Not the best way though, ie a nasty tummy bug. But the scales yesterday said 10st2 and today says 9st12. I have hardly eaten a thing and also have a chest infection. I know this is false loss though as mostly water so will come back, but kind of nice to see those numbers on the scales again...will perhaps motivate me.
1200 calories so low though - I've been counting and amazed how things build up so quickly.
Today a write off then - hopefully will feel back to normal ish tomorrow.

TettyLouBar · 20/01/2010 11:07

Madhair - hope you feel better soon. Plenty of fluids, as long as you dont dehydrate. Think of the weightloss as a kick start. You probably wont put it back on if your careful for a few days after you begin feeling better.

Leo - it is hard sticking to 1200, Ive been grabbing things randomly from the cupboard and reading the labels to see whats what. Its scary what I used to pick on without realising how much the calories add up. I'm allowing myself up to 1400 on the days I exercise. If I dont eat that much then its just a bonus!

Sazzles - your a proper hardcore expert at this! wow - youve done amazingly well. I'll be coming to you for advice I'm sure!

Well Ive still not weighed (although the temptation has been strong) Ive worked out mon, tues and wed (Davina dvds) so hopefully thats boosted my loss.

I must admit I find it hard to resist chocolate. Ive found that the big bags of funsize buttons packs (usually for DD) are only 75cals a bag! i've rewarded myself with a bag a night in keeping with my cal count, (savouring each one til its completed melted!!) thats helped!

The proof will be in the weight in on monday

leothelioness · 21/01/2010 09:59

Poor madhair I hope you feel better today!

I have been quite good yesterday so I hope it will show when I weigh tomorrow. The kids are home as they both have nasty coughs and colds so hopefully i don't catch it. Also am hoping that the sleep deprivation of the last couple of night does not manifest its self in unreasonable cravings for chocolate!

madhairday · 21/01/2010 13:18

Well done Leo. Hope your dc are better soon. Resist that chocolate!
Tetty, good for you with Davina workouts, I have an old video of hers I used to do, it was haaaard!
Well not so good here, my tummy bug is just settling down now but have really not eaten since Monday. so, I know I shouldn't weigh myself as it's false and stupid, but couldn't help it, just to 'feel what it would be like' at it was 9st9. A rather dramatic loss of 1/2 stone in 3 days. I feel so weak and faint now tbh it's scary. I'm quite used to this as I have a chronic condition and often get stomach probs with it and lose a lot quickly, but this seems even worse somehow. I am trying to build myself up now, just had chocolate spread on toast Praps not so good for recovery? Was supposed to go out for an indian meal last night but just couldn't do it, was gutted, dh came back stinking of curry which made me feel unwell again!
Still I will use it as a kick start and see if I can keep under the 10 stone mark now at least, when I start eating properly again, I'll get dh to cook something slightly more nutritious tonight. How is everyone else doing, noticing any difference in clothes etc?

Floopy21 · 21/01/2010 16:10

Hi All,

Hope you're feeling better MadH.

I vote Sazzles as our offical team leader

Hi Tetty. Davina's workout is rumoured to be hardcore, therefore you must be too Know what you mean about calories, some things are very unexpected.

CURSE FREEBIES!! Gorged myself on sandwiches & crips at work yesterday - I don't even like crisps that much! Then catered in the evening & gorged myself on the left over pate! There's something about free food that makes it taste better! Been VERY good today though. I heard that it's quite good to eat more one day then much less the other, something about tricking your metabolism into working well or something? Trying to make myself feel better about yesterday!

I'm noticing that my clothes aren't quite as tight. Am going to be brave & weigh myself in the morning.

Good luck this eve peeps!

Floopy21 · 21/01/2010 16:11

Goodness me, sorry about all the exclamation marks...I blame all salad & no chocolate, makes my brrrain go funny.

TettyLouBar · 21/01/2010 20:10

Ok, so I know i said I wasn't going to weigh til monday, but temptation got the better of me... I got on the scales and have lost 3.5lbs since monday!! yeay!

So so so chuffed, Ive been religious about my intake for the week so far and its actually paying off! Still got rest of week to go though and I'm rubbish at relaxing my diet when I know Ive lost weight thinking I can eat more!

Floopy - I'm certainly not hardcore - I guess Ive just got used to the workouts and built up my fitness gradually. Been using them 3 times a week atleast on and off since feb last year. But never calorie counted to aid weight loss before, just used to eat what I wanted and basically not budge a mm on the scales!

Madhair - I feel for you I really do. It sounds like you may have a virus. Theres a lot of tummy viruses around at this time of the year and they can take a while to budge. Chin up chick - you'll be back on form soon

Right, I'm off to tot up my calories for the day.... and eat my funsize buttons in front of tv

leothelioness · 22/01/2010 08:18

Well done Tetty that is a fantastic loss and a great motivation to stick to it too!

Floopy I have not really noticed my clothes yet but I think my tum look slightly smaller.

I weighed this morning and have lost another 2 lbs in a week. If I can keep this up I will be very happy. But this is the stage i normally hit a wall and the weight loss stops so fingers crossed for another loss next week.
Kids are feeling better DS2 is still off from preschool but DS1 has gone in today and hopefully I have got away without catching it.
