3 week challenge - who's up for it?

I'm gently gearing myself up to a proper start on Monday, which gives three clear weeks till the end of the month.

My own choice of torture approach is to low carb. Hopefully I will drop half a stone by the end of the month, which will get me off to a good start to lose the next stone that I've been trying to lose for some time!

Anyway, if anyone wants to join me, you're very welcome!

It's only 3 weeks ...

i kind of plan to low carb too,but will see how we go.

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/01/2010 10:27

Lurking smacks of low commitment though ...

not 100 per cent sure i'll be sticking to it. shopping budget this week is low!! and looking like i'll not be venturing to any supermarkets if this snow continues!

if i have to eat same as the kids i'm stuck before i start!

lixanismapolium · 05/01/2010 16:59

I'm in ... if that's OK.

Must be able to manage 3 wweks, right?

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/01/2010 17:14

Absolutely! Welcome. What is your plan - are you low carbing, calorie counting, low fatting, or something else?

I will join you on a low carb binge. Give me low carbing in a nutshell? I no longer have my atkins book.

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/01/2010 22:18

In a nutshell:

No pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, sugar, chocolae/sweets or fruit

Nothing made with flour

Avoid processed foods and stick to basic food stuffs - meat/fish and vegetables and salad

Fat is good, fat is your friend

Avoid alcohol

Drink lots of water

think that's about it!

Go on then count me in! I'm low carbing (or at least my doctor said 'no potatoes, pasta, rice or bread, no sugar' so that sounds like high protein/low carb to me!!

I'm completely struggling with what to have, fed up with eggs and/or bacon for breakfast, salad etc for lunch, blah blah and have ended up eating loads of chocolate recently...

Any tips/pointers to meal plans etc much appreciated.

This is the boost that I need to get back on it properly .

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2010 08:53

Hurrah! Another victim member!

Maybe we should all look to share low carb recipes as well.

I have a couple of recipe books that I need to dig out.

I'm in!
Been doing it since Monday and waistband definately looser which is encouraging.
Bit of a headache today though so a large coffee and small square of dark chocolate

tellyaddict · 06/01/2010 17:12

I started off well but after a rather exerting trek through the snow to the local supermarket (on foot) and the humphing of two very heavy large bags of shopping back home, I ate some protein but then, hmmm, around 10 biscuits........ .

bubble2bubble · 06/01/2010 17:34

tuts & shakes head....

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2010 17:48

Well, we're not actually starting properly till Monday ...!

WilfSell · 06/01/2010 22:37

OK, BIWI I am definitely IN with the IPD/low carbing. Half a stone would be good. In fact it would remove the half stone I seem to have put on over Christmas . Which replaced the half stone I had lost last year. [double ]

Ho hum.

Anyhow, I am preparing my shopping list to plan ahead for next week. Cheese. And meat. And salad. That's pretty much it for induction isn't it?

WilfSell · 06/01/2010 22:39

And eggs. Yes. LOTS and lots of eggs.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2010 22:41

Eggs will be your friend, honestly!
