littlemissbliss don't get me started on kids mainlining bugs in from nursery/school

nmonkey, just seen that you're a winner as well as a loser

well i have to say that altho i've only shifted a pound (or shitted it, as the op said) my stomach is sticking out less (tho' still significant overhang!) and i am farting less (sorry if tmi)which dh is happy with

today
muesli/2 crumpets with marmite/lowfat macaroni cheese and veg
my s was a small portion of rhubarb crumble and ice cream and the ear off the tiniest lindt bunny!

questions2008 · 12/01/2010 23:54

littlemissbliss hehe what a good tip! i don't have a treadmill but my mum does and she's only 5 mins round the corner from us in the car, also a very willing babysitter for ds so i really don't have any excuse - apart from the tiredness that is!!

today i made risotto for DH and sushi for me which I love but had to measure everything out so i could point it properly. then we went to the cinema (saw the road, which was very dark and heartbreaking as a parent) and usually i have a McD's milkshake to go with the popcorn, but i skipped both and just had some tea and didn't feel deprived at all.

paranoid hmm yes i will need to strap mine down too, not used to running with boobs (im usually as flat as _ that!

pollywollydoodle · 13/01/2010 20:18

evening all...hope you've had good days despite the white stuff (or grey around here)

fighting the comfort warming food urge by drinknig lots of hot drinks...not including hot choc...oh and avoiding the doughnut balls and tiger bread that dh and dd are mainlining...
today
muesli/2 crumpets with jam/fish curry, rice and a bit of naan
s small portion of rhubarb crumble and yoghurt

mummymels · 13/01/2010 21:31

LittleMissBliss - Isn't that typical re nursery. I remember that happening when my DS started nursery for the first time. I hope your DS is better soon.

pollywollydoodle - Well done on your loss. Your food today sounds good.

questions2008 - You sound very restrained on your snacks at the cinema.

misspollysdolly · 14/01/2010 19:44

Sorry - been reading this thread but not had bags of time to post. Hope everyone's week is going well.

So, tonight was Weight Watchers - not affected by snow this week! - so now I have a better handle what's really happening with my weight. Hadn't been weighed since the week before Christmas and since then on Mrs WeightWatcher's scales, I have gained 1.5 lbs since the last weigh-in. Given that I definitely gained quite a few pounds over Christmas, I am happy. There is definitely a discrepency between my home scales and hers, but now that I'm back being weight by Mrs WW weekly, my official weight today is 17 stone, 8 lbs. On my scales this evening I was 17st 11lbs, so I reckon I lost 1 lb this week. Phew that was comlicated, by hey, it's good to be back on track. I feel less blobby and bloated already compared to last week so this is spurring me on!

My aim at the moment - as I'm an 'evening picker' - is to only eat fruit if I'm hungry after my tea. I usually have an apple or two and my top tip would be to cut each apple I have into 16 pieces (into quarters and then each quarter into 4 thin slices). Might sound a bit anal, but it makes the apples last for ages - and instead of dipping my hand into the sweetie or biscuit tin, I'm dipping my hand into my bowl of fruit lots and lots of times! It's working for me anyway!

Hope you are all OK. MPD

mummymels · 14/01/2010 20:22

misspollydolly - you sound really positive and well done on losing 1 lb over the christmas period, that is something to be very proud of. Good tip regarding cutting the apples up too, I'll have to try that one when I am back on eating fruit again.

pollywollydoodle · 14/01/2010 20:53

well done mpd
not a bad day here
muesli/philly and salad sarnie/
LF macaroni cheese with ratatouille and a slice of bread

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 14/01/2010 20:54

mpd- I like the apple idea! I don't know why but apples taste so much better cut up.

Yey, the snow is gone! I can get back on the exercise wagon now- went for a brisk walk today which felt good after a week or so of sitting on my bum

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 14/01/2010 21:00

Oh I also have a tip which I discovered this morning- I thought I'd mash some banana for ds as he struggles to hold chunks of banana without dropping it. As I knew he'd only have a tiny bit I stirred most of it into my porridge and discovered that it sweetened it enough that I didn't need to add honey!

mummymels · 14/01/2010 21:18

pollywollydoodle - That sounds a good day.

ParanoidAtAllTimes - I agree, I prefer the taste of apples cut up too. Maybe we are children at heart!

questions2008 · 15/01/2010 01:04

mummymels yes i think it's more the novelty of just having something to eat/drink rather than actually needing all that popcorn and milkshake, so tea worked just as well.

pollywolly have you tried the skinny cow hot chocs? i've just got a couple of sachets, will let you know if they are any good, i know their choc ice cream stick is fabulously yummy and it's only 2 WW points ie very low cal/fat.

ooh paranoid i do that too, blueberries are also good in porridge...mmm i love porridge in winter

misspolly good apple tip, i should try that as i always have to have something after dinner

I had a very unplanned food day today - some roast chicken, mixed bean salad and slice of irish soda bread all ready made things from sainsburys for lunch and boiled eggs (with wasabi and soy sauce to add some zing!) and a minestrone cup a soup + slice of WW bread for dinner.

DH said i looked slimmer today , i actually can feel my jeans a teensy bit looser on me, long may it continue.

pollywollydoodle · 15/01/2010 11:37

ooh questions, it's great when someone else notices, isn't it...haven't told dh i'm trying to lose weight because i can imagine his eyes will just roll up to the ceiling...will wait and see if he notices...

have had skinny cow lollies, they did the trick in summer...didn't know they did hot choc....never liked options and their ilk...would rather go without! but will give these a try, thanks

mummymels · 15/01/2010 21:15

questions2008 - always a good sign when DH notices you have lot weight.

pollywollydoodle - will be great when your DH notice as you haven't told him you are dieting.

pollywollydoodle · 15/01/2010 21:15

Oh I forgot to say before- thank you for the various suggestions to replace squash- will give them a go!

Well done questions- numbers are all well and good but it's lovely when the weightloss is visible to the naked eye!

pollywollydoodle · 16/01/2010 14:32

LittleMissBliss · 18/01/2010 08:30

morning all, sorry haven't posted much ds's were both really unwell this week, plus we had viewing in the midst of all the chaos. We have accepted an offer on the house which is a little crazy as it's only been on the market for 4 weeks and two of them were over x-mas.

I also treated myself to semi-permanent make-up as part of the new year, new me thing this Saturday. I am a little obsessive when it comes to plucking my eyebrows resulting in them being really sparse at the outer corners and me not being able to leave the house with-out make-up which is a PITA. But i don't have the time to do mu make-up properly with two. So i am chuffed that i can now wake up with perfect brows, they have a lovely arch which i never had before!
I also had some subtle eyeliner which will also save me time as all i'll need is a lick of mascara when it's all healed.

Now to the important part......goal was 3lb and i have lost 4lb! so am chuffed, that's a total of 6lb now still another 22lb to go! .

Great apple tip, i am also of the thinking they taste nices cut up!

fingers crossed for everyones elses loses!

LittleMissBliss · 18/01/2010 08:31

*nicer

pollywollydoodle · 18/01/2010 11:58

hi littlemissb....what do they do to your eyebrows?is it like a tattoo? [durr]
well done on your loss...nearly half a stone! yay!
i've lost another pound which is fine by me as i knew it would prob be a slow business with limited ability to excercise still i'm enjoying the canoeing on wii sports resort..

LittleMissBliss · 18/01/2010 13:17

polly yup it's like a tattoo but the pigments fade over years and the needles don't go as deep as a tattoo needle. It is done in two stages, first smaller and lighter, then when it's healed they can go darker and bigger if you want, as they can't take away but can add.

I'm very pleased with the results even though it looks a little dark at the moment as it hasn't healed. I've wanted it done for years but it's such a commitment having something on your face but the limited time in the mornings that comes with having children has given me that extra push to just go for it!

Well done for your loss. The first stone i loss after having ds2 was literally a pound a week but three months later i was a stone lighter.

LittleMissBliss · 18/01/2010 13:21

lost- really should check before i post.

northernmonkey · 18/01/2010 20:02

Well done littlemissbliss 4lb is fantastic

and pollywollydoodle 1lb is great too

Well sorry i've not posted all week, I can tell you i've lost a total of I dont know because i've broke my ankle
I've slipped on the bloody ice and gone over on it and my god it hurts

Hoping to be back to normal in 4 weeks but we'll see
So what i need to do is carry on posting but there's no point weighing till the cast is off
Good luck to everyone

misspollysdolly · 18/01/2010 21:27

Oh no northernmonkey! What a nightmare! Hope the pain stops soon and that it heals without any trouble. How frustrating for you!

I'm OK really - not too bad a blip just had a massively busy day at work and ate fairly well but then kind of let myself go in the evening and ate a bit of crap (though managed to go for Ben and Jerry's Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream so that was marginally virtuous!! ). Have since then had a mixed weekend so really need to knuckle down and eat properly this side of weight watchers (Thursday).

Does anyone else find they pick more and make more daft food choices before they 'come on'...? I don;t exactly go mad, I just realised the other day that a) I was very PMT-y with DH (poor guy!) and b) was wanting to pick and nibble more than previously. It's a nightmare being a girl sometimes, isn't it?!

Didn't much like what I saw in the mirror in H&M today - I wish this losing weight thing sometimes didn't seem like such a daunting and long-haul job...MPD
