Hi everyone,

SS diet looks good, think I'll incorporate that into my 'healthy eating'. Didn't get a chance to weigh-in today but will do tomorrow (have to walk into town and use Boot's scales!)

Am started well with muesli but went down hill soon after and ended up with a takeaway for dinner Ds2 had a reaction to something? he had a hives outbreak and he was very distressed, but 2 creams and bottle of piriton later he seems much better So it was quite stressful, hence the takeaway But tomorrow's another day!

Well done to you all on getting through the 1st hurdle!!

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 05/01/2010 01:30

mamasunshine- it looks like take away is ok on the s diet but even if not, I would definately classify an ill child as an s day! Nothing more stressful than a sick and distressed LO- you did well not to crack open the chocolate

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 05/01/2010 01:34

Oh forgot to say what today's meals were: rice crispies with prunes for breakfast, rice, beans and peas for lunch (v random as hadn't done shopping by this point!), beans on toast without cheese for tea. And a satsuma. I'm bloody starving now though- may need a banana to see me through the night

Sukie1971 · 05/01/2010 04:21

Can I join you please? I started my diet Mon, and am feeling v motivated at the mo... but its not the weekend yet!
I want to lose the first of 4 stone (!) by end of feb.
Good luck everyone

gingernutlover · 05/01/2010 09:49

pollywollydoodle i read up some more on the no s diet - wow! So much common sense. I am giving it a go and will see how it goes. From the guys website I can see the losses arent always fast and huge but a lot of people seem to keep the weight off. They seem to work out at a pound a week ish, so it would take me until summer to lose 2 stone, but if it stays off then that doesnt matter.

I have done just about every diet under the sun and even got down to a size 10 at one point, only to find the wieght piling back on and I'm still 2 stone overweight. It has taken me a long time to realise that I dont need to be super skinny, in fact I am not totally unhappy with myself at the moment (but unhappy enough to want to be a bit slimmer). Super skinny is not maintainable.

The "no s" approach seems like a weay of eating rather than a diet and something I realise that a lot of people around me do without thinking about it. Like my mum, she seems to eat cream cakes and cheese and nice food but is an 8-10, but when I think about it she only eats rubbish 1-2 times a week and rarely snacks on biscuits cakes etc (and when she does, she ends up not wantign a meal) so it does sound sustainable over a long time - more of a way of eating for life than a diet

I am hoping that by eating in this way my body will find its natural shape without anyone having to look it up on a chart. I couldnt care less what my bmi is, but do want to feel okay when i see photos or look in the mirror

gingernutlover · 05/01/2010 09:52

whoops that was a lot longer than intended! I can't 'alf whitter on ....

pollywollydoodle · 05/01/2010 11:32

thats how i felt when i read it gingernut (thanks to dittany for posting the link on another thread)I feel quite relaxed at the mo' even tho' there is xmas stuff still in the cupboards that dd and dh are having bits of (they are more the self regulating, slim types you described)

I think i just need to get into good habits and out of the idea of "a diet" which i feel is external rules imposed on me(even if i've chosen to do it!) and which i seem "good" or "bad" on like a child sticking to or breaking external rules...being "sneaky" and appearing "good" by eating secretly is one of my downfalls

fellow waffler!

fatkatyslim · 05/01/2010 11:33

northernmonkey · 05/01/2010 17:38

Well todays gone quite well seeing as though the dc's were off school because of the snow

Managed weetabix for breakfast
Sandwich, satsuma and tesco's light crisps for lunch
Home made burger with oven chips for dinner

Feel that went really well and for my exercise i took the dcs sledging and had loads of fun

Having a VERY positive day today so i'm happy

Hope everyone elses day has gone well. I know it hard when the dc's are off

questions2008 from what i remember with ww (and it was only 6 months ago i was there) there's no limit for acohol or sweets, just so long as you count the points in

Sorry now i'm waffling

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 05/01/2010 18:10

Well done Northern, sounds like you did brilliantly!

I had Allbran and banana
salad, toast and cottage cheese
a cereal bar
and am about to have vegetable stew

I also went for a long, brisk walk with the pushchair (no snow here then)

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 05/01/2010 18:11

That sounds like I just took a pushchair- ds was in it

northernmonkey · 05/01/2010 19:54

If i'd have tried pushing the pushchair around here i'd have burnt hundreds of calories

Instead i pulled ds2 in the sledge

pollywollydoodle · 05/01/2010 20:31

wussy here, sent dd and friend into the snowy garden to re-enact the tardis stuck in the snow advert whilst i stayed in and played tennis on the wii

today
banana on toast/muesli/sausage and potato casserole with stewed fruit

So, had an S(weet) today but only by having stewed fruit..not bad in the scheme of things managed to avoid the hot choc/iced gem extravaganza that dd and friend had

northernmonkey · 05/01/2010 21:13

pollywollydoodle

Think i may need to do that with dc's tommorow if schools closed tommorow too. Tis far too cold out there and wii fit looks much more appealing as its indoors

Nearly caved in tonight so i'm quite proud of myself for not. Today i got my af and its the first in 2 months (i have pcos) so i'm a lot of pain. Normally the first thing i do is reach for the huge bars of dairymilk in the cupboard, but tonight i got fruit instead

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 05/01/2010 21:18

northernmonkey, am impressed that you didn't try to convince yourself that fruit and nut was a healthy option , well done you!

Now does anyone know if mariokart counts as excercise?

Hold firm through the evening all, til tomorrow...

mumSmileyface · 05/01/2010 21:32

Sounds like everybody is doing really well, I agree with allowing yourself 'off' days. I am doing well. Had sugar free alpen, tuna and cucumber sarnie (minus butter and mayonnaise) and a sugar free kids organix bar and quorn shepherds pie for tea. With fruit in between. There is however xmas cake in the cupboard that my mum brought round. Am resisting it. Just.

mummymels · 05/01/2010 22:13

Wow, you have all been busy chatting away the last few days. I love hearing everyone?s stories and how you are getting on.

ParanoidAtAllTImes ? Go Lower is a low carb diet but they send you ready meals so you don?t have to do any cooking yourself. It?s so easy to do and the food is actually really nice. I?ve surprised myself that I haven?t been hungry on it as one of the best bits for me is that you can have treats on it too!

LittleMissBliss ? I hope you had a good birthday.

Pollywollydoodle ? What does Paul McKenna diet involve?

Northernmonkey ? you post whatever you need to post. It?s all interesting to read and hear how everyone are doing.

Misspollydolly ? I hope you are better now.

Kkey21 ? Good luck for the next week and for the surgery.

LittleMissBliss ? I hope DS enjoyed his new nursery.

I'm very pleased with myself as I lost 6lbs this week. My weigh in is Monday but I had started my diet before Christmas. My total weight loss is 48 lbs now.

questions2008 · 05/01/2010 23:35

sounds like everyone is keeping positive!

spent 4 hours (!!) at asda today doing a marathon shop with DS in tow, stocking up on veggies, fruit and WW deserts , haven't done grocery shopping like this in ages. but lucky i did it today and not tomorrow with all this snow!

today i had:

muesli and banana
WW chicken wrap and 2 cappuccinos
Muller light yogurt
omlette with mushrooms, onions, cherry toms and broccoli
grilled salmon
and a frozen chocolatey WW dessert which wasn't too bad actually (haven't tried these before)

I got DH a couple of Dairy Milk bars, which I would have helped him finish, but i have found it easy not to join in. result.

my problem is lack of exercise at the moment. DS still wakes 3-4 times a night, and last few nights every 2 hours, so im knackered and really cant find the energy to do any exercise. well thats my excuse for now anyway

questions2008 · 05/01/2010 23:38

mummymels wow, that sounds great! well done

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 06/01/2010 02:44

mummymels- 48 lbs is amazing!

questions- so feel your pain. Ds is a terrible sleeper and is currently up hourly at best Tonight I went to bed at 9 and have had 1.5 hours sleep so far.

Maybe lack of sleep burns more calories

misspollysdolly · 06/01/2010 10:02

Does an 'S' day include snow-days...??! - am fighting the urge to add a heap of marshmallows to my hot chocolate (instant, just add water, )

Not too bad a day yesterday

Had granola-y stuff (small bowl) for breakfast, a salad-y tortilla wrap for lunch with a cup of tea and lentil daal (made myself, low fat) for tea followed by some fruit. My only slippages were a digestive biscuit mid-afternoon and finishing off DS2's angel delight after tea (hence fruit-afters for my own tea). Hope I'm not kidding myself but that didn't seem too bad to me.

Oh and thank you mummymels, I am much better now though it took quite a while to recover. Raring to go and trying to stay well now .

Hope everyone's day is going well. MPD
