hmmm well i had my brekafast at 6.45 thinking I was going to work, but turns out my school is closed so am sat here starving and had a banana, so I guess thats not as bad as it could be.

I am finding the no snacks bit of no s fiet very hard, because no matter how much I feel full after eating a meal, I do get hungry in between meals, not just picky, actually hungry. So I think I may have to occasionally break the no snacks, but only with fruit.

northernmonkey · 06/01/2010 10:36

mummymels Well done 48lbs is amazing

misspollysdolly Snows days are an s day its the law

pollywollydoodle I may need to convince myself fruit and nut is the healthy option if the dc's are off tommorrow

So....My dc's are off school yet again but today i have to sit in all day and wait for dh's psp to be delivered. Not good especially with the chocolate calling my name!!!

But so far so good.
I'll probably be back in an hour pulling my hair out and melted chocolate all around my mouth

OP posts:
misspollysdolly · 06/01/2010 10:57

Yay! MPD

pollywollydoodle · 06/01/2010 13:25

well done mummymels!
paul mckenna isn't a diet as such, it uses subconscious suggestion to help you stick to sensible rules like stopping eating when you are full and associations such as chocolate with gone off fish to help you avoid certain foods. It is quite time consuming...whilr relaxing, listen to a cd each day/do excercises at the start...it did have the effect of making me really think about what i put in my mouth but it was hard to do daily...

northern, "snow good" a snowy day is only an s day if it is a one off! It is hard to stick to the no snacks in late evening me...i think it is what a banana was invented for! I tend to think that as long as you're having less than usual your weight will come down...may have to prue things a bit later on

now, can anyone tell me why the new year isn't in june...it would be much easier to stick to new year resolutions like this when it is warm!

northernmonkey · 06/01/2010 20:15

Polly i agree totally. It would be so much easier in the warm. Although i'm sure i heard you burn more cals in the cold. Dont know whether thats just some crap myth i've been told in the past

So today i think i did fab

Questions2008 ? Wow that was a long shop. If I took my children shopping for that long they would be a nightmare! It is satisfying doing a big shop though isn?t it especially in this weather knowing that if you were snowed it you have everything you need. You have done really well today, sounds like you had some lovely food. Well done on not eating the choccie, it is hard if someone else is eating it near you.

Questions2008 & ParanoidAtAllTimes - That must be hard waking so much at night ? how old are your sons? My daughter is not a wonderful sleeper but I am thankful she isn?t up that much.

ParanoidAtAlltTimes ? I think it is a fact that sleep burns calories, no joke. Or maybe I am wrong.

Misspollydolly ? Pleased you are better. I think your day definitely sounds good.

Gingetnutlover ? How does the no S Diet work?

Pollywollydoodle ? Thanks for telling me about Paul McKenna. It sounds good because it is something that would be permanent but as you say, you have to put a lot of time into it. I think it would be good to do once I have got to my goal to keep me on track.

Northernmonkey ? It sounds as if you have had a good day too.

I agree with everyone that it would be so much easier if new year was in the summer. It is hard to keep healthy when you crave for comfort foods to keep warm.

With Go Lower my foods are sent to me so I don?t need to go shopping for my diet foods. I thought I would find it really hard not to have snacks between meals. I do have a health bar I?m allowed and I thought I would be starving but I have really surprised myself that I?m not hungry.

questions2008 · 06/01/2010 23:39

well done especially to those who have to finish off clear away DC's leftovers. I'm lucky DS 6.5 months is only on pureed fruit/veg at the moment which can't really throw me too off track if i do have a bit of that.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 07/01/2010 03:03

Well today was a hard day as ds (the worst sleeping 6mo in the world, mummymels!) has been biting me to shreds so dp and I made the decision to start introducing formula. I'm still bfing at night though (doing it at the mo - on feed no. 3 of the night ). It's silly, but have felt v. down about this. However I haven't slipped! Unbelievable as I'm such an emotional eater.

Porridge
Left over veg stew + rice
Beans on toast
A cereal bar (not great I know, northern, but we'd run out of bananas!)

MPD- snow days... that would be good! Although maybe not in these fragile early days of dieting

gingernutlover- I also think fruit is absolutely fine

pollywollydoodle- can we make it July as my birthday's in June?

northernmonkey- sounds like you're doing brilliantly, well done!

mummymels- go lower sounds good- is it pricey?

questions- I'm sure mushed fruit and veg won't add on too many calories! We're starting blw in a couple of weeks so I think I'll give ds bits off my plate, therefore consuming less calories!

mummymels · 07/01/2010 19:36

Questions - At lest if you do pick at DC's food it won't do you any harm.

ParanoidAtAllTimes - Sorry to hear you feel bad about having to introduce formula to your DS. Hopefully by doing a mix it will make it easier to you but it must be very painful if he is biting lots. Go Lower works out just undeer £50 a week. It sounds quite a lot but bearing in mind that is practically all your food for the week so you don't need to buy much more for yourself, just for the rest of the family.

pollywollydoodle · 07/01/2010 20:42

yesterday has been consigned to the forget it pile....was doing ok until evening then i had seconds and a sweet and a (non -fruit..ok a pitta with butter and jam and a penguin) snack...the only plus was that i managed to stop it escalating into a full scale "i've blown it now so i might as well give up" style binge...have decided that that was one of my s days....sunday now begins with u!

hey ho, today is another day
muesli/egg on toast/veg stew and a slice of fresh bread

LittleMissBliss · 07/01/2010 20:56

Hello all,
I took DS1 had a 2nd Birthday party and managed to avoid all the party food. Even the party rings which are my favourite.

Our Asda shop didn't arrive today (snow- not that we had much as we are by the sea) I'm really annoyed as i had ordered lots of lovely healthy food and lots of bits to make smoothies.

ParanoidAAT- Have you tried saying no sternly and placing your ds down every time he bites or nips you when feeding? It worked for ds1 as he soon stopped when he realised he wouldn't get any milk if he continued.

mummymels- Thank you I had a lovely Birthday. Ds1 seems to be enjoying nursery from his explanations of what goes to me which is always funny as i have to piece the words together to make a sentence. What a fantastice weight loss so far, well done you! You give me hope of losing the weight.

Right off to look at what the S diet entails!

misspollysdolly · 07/01/2010 21:46

Ok so Weight Watchers was cancelled tonight because of the snow so haven't been able to weigh in officially tonight. Actually feel a bit sad (not sure that's the right word, but you know what I mean!) about that as I had got all ready to face the music.

Anyhoo, undeterred I have weighed myself - my scales at home say that tonight, Matthew, I weigh - get this ready - 17 st and 12 lbs.

Now, my scales always weigh 2 lb heavier than Mrs Weight Watchers' ones so I make that 17st 10lb - a gain of 3lb over Christmas. Not good, but frankly given the amount of stodge, cheese and cake consumed by one and all this is not bad going. New day/new week starts tomorrow.

Have had granola-y breakfast, leftover daal for lunch and a butternut squash risotto (surprisingly low in fat/points if you don't add lots of butter or cheese) for tea. Yum, yum!

Hope you are all well. Keep going everyone! MPD

northernmonkey · 07/01/2010 22:03

misspollysdolly 3lb over christmas isn't that bad. Try not to be too harsh on yourself, it may not be as bad as you think when you get to your meeting

LittleMissBliss Well done for avoiding the party foods, I personally find that hard sometimes

pollywollydoodle We all have bad days. and like mummymels said, it could have been much worse if you threw in the towel and carried on

ParanoidAtAllTimes Hope your sleep gets better. I remember when ds2 was 7 months old he just wasn't getting enough from me at all so i added a botle of formula in as the bed time feed, but the rest of the time i fed him. That seemed to work fine for me untill i was ready to stop. Good luck with it

Well i've had another day with the dc's at home but yet again its gone well ( dont ask how cause i was pulling my hair out earlier!!)
So today i've managed weetabix for breafast
Sanwich with lf crisps at lunch time
WW recipie lamb stew with small yorkshire puds for dinner, and no snacks today.
Dh also bought me a wispa bar tonight which is still sat next to me and i really dont want to touch.

Not sure how tommorow will go because its our anniversay and we're planning on going out, so we'll see

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 07/01/2010 22:07

can you freeze wispa bars so that you can't get at them?

pollywollydoodle · 07/01/2010 22:08

that was meant to have a and a well done on your day NM , on the end!

questions2008 · 08/01/2010 03:53

paranoidatalltimes feeling your pain here - i fell asleep with ds at 10:30 but then haven't been able to get back to sleep when he woke up an hour ago. it would be times like this that i would be having chocolate to console myself, but not this time.

i wish someone could tell me when he will stop waking up at night, even if it's months away, i could at least have a date to look forward to! so many people told me that starting solids would change his sleep but hasn't changed at all. cunning plan with the BLW

LOL at freezing wispa...! i would just offer it back to DH.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 08/01/2010 04:59

hi questions
a date to look forward to would be lovely- even if it's 2! Or 4! Or at least 7?!!
I just saw your baby weight gain thread btw- I hope gp appointment goes well. I'm sure he's fine and doesn't need to join our thread!

mummymels and northern- I'm already adjusting to mix feeding being ok which is good...but ds isn't He has 4 oz or so then screams for the breast

Littlemissbliss- yes I've done that a few times now but I guess he's too young to understand (without masses of repetition anyway)

mpd- I agree that 3lb isn't at all bad over xmas- I bet you've lost it already

Today has gone well food wise- I even sat through dp scoffing carrot cake when we went out for a coffee today

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 08/01/2010 05:01

I should say yesterday- just saw the clock

northernmonkey · 08/01/2010 07:56

Think i may need to freeze wispa then give it to dh

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 08/01/2010 12:27

well dh did the schoolrun before work because i couldn't get my scooter on the road, so i had a duvet morning with a flask of tea! (apologies to those who are sleep deprived...if it helps, it gets better when they start being more active toddlers IME) and have just emerged to have brunch and MN at bit before attacking the ironing pile/dusting (or at least spraying a bit of polish around so that i look like i've been really busy!)

northernmonkey · 08/01/2010 22:03

Well i managed to do fantastic all day untill tonight. Its my 10year anniverersary and me and dh have got rid of all the dc's for the night so we've had
A chinese takeaway
bottle of wine (thats just me)
and attacked the roses

I really need to be VERY good tommorow now

OP posts:
mummymels · 08/01/2010 22:26

pollywollydoodle - it's easy to have an off day every so often but good idea swapping it with an s day.

LittleMissBliss - Great that DS is enjoying nursery. My DD starts next week. What a pain about your Asda delivery not arriving. Did they say when you might receive it? Well done on avoiding the party food.

MPD - Sounds like you have started well today and I am sure you will get that extra weight off soon enough.

Northernmonkey - hope you had a lovely anniversary. You are allowed to treat yourself on a special day.

Questions - do you think DS is teething?

Pranoid - Hopefully DS will adjust to the new feeding soon.

pollywollydoodle · 09/01/2010 10:58

thank you mummymels....didn't do badly,no s's yday
muesli/slice of toast and banana/fish, wedges and mushy peas

aiming for the same today
have decided tues and weds are my s days as i tend to meet up with friends then and i do like a mocha coffee as a treat!

pollywollydoodle · 09/01/2010 20:30

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 10/01/2010 17:23

Well today I have most definately had an s day! It's dp's birthday and we were limited due to icy roads/pavements + 6 month old so decided to cook a nice meal. Followed by apple strudel and clotted cream. . Striiiike one-ah.
Hope everyone's had a successful week and good luck for the weigh in.
