Hi mrswill

Thanks for all the info. Got the book today so I am going to have a read tonight and restock the kitchen!

Now I just need to figure out whether to start on phase one or go to phase 2 as I have been low carbing for the past month so all my cravings etc are dead.

I can see the emphasis is on unprocessed but I have 3 tubs of protien powder in the kitchen, any idea if I could still have my protein shake with unsweetened soya milk for breakfast occasionaly?

I am really excited about tucking in to some lovely veg again but a little scared about gaining weight as I will come out of ketosis.

Also we are off on holiday soon. Is it easy enough to eat out as a veggie on this plan? Will not be eating out every night but I could'nt figure out how to do it when low carbing!

mrswill · 02/04/2010 16:06

Am not sure what the rules would be on protein drinks and bars etc, but as she is full on for unprocessed stuff, Id probably say not. But I do tend to have a protein bar when im in a rush, about 2/3 times a week, and that havent seemed to have effected my weight loss. If by having it, your keeping to the diet, Id dont see the harm, just cut it out if you havent lost that week. Think this diet can be trial and error.

I eat out as a veggie sometimes, I stick to soup with bread roll, or a low fat veggie option, like a bean burger with a salad, or if theres hummous about, Il have that, I dont stick to it rigidly when Im out, as you cant find out sugar content, and would end up eating bog all! I found found it the easiest of all diets, eating out on this, but it does make it easier not being veggie anymore.

Let us know how you get on. An if you need recipes.

FrazzledBlob · 05/04/2010 19:46

my excitement has turned to depression as I am gaining and not losing

I have turned to the dark choc tonight, 4 squares down and I'm hoping posting will stop me binging.

I was planning on sticking with phase 2 as I am off on holiday in a couple of days but I think I need to start on phase 1. The cravings are back as bad as ever

Today I have had

BF scrambled egg
Snack handful of carrot sticks
Lunch couple of slices melon (out and about, stuck for ideas!)
Dinner veg stir fry, 80g brown rice

cravings kicked in this evening and i had 4 squares of dark choc.

I really want to low carb, its the only thing that has ever worked and I can't. Someone please come and kick my backside into gear and tell me this will work if i stick at it?

mrswill · 05/04/2010 21:23

Hiya frazzled!

Your not the only one struggling this weekend. As its a bank holiday the booze has been out in force, and so has the chocolate, chips, and burgers.

By the looks of it your not eating badly at all for the harcombe diet, Id say thats what i have on a good day, although i tend to eat more.

If you have cravings, and their coming back etc, then I hate to say it but you would probably benefit from phase 1. Which i'll be back on tomorrow after this atrocious weekend

Maybe the gain is from coming off ketosis. Im not too sure about very low carb diets, as Ive never been on one, but maybe your body needs to acclimatise to more carbs. There is now a forum on the web direct from zoe herself. Its www.theharcombediet.com. They'd probably have more specific advice on there.

AitchTwoZone · 07/04/2010 21:41

hi, it's lesinge here. i think i'm doing the induction but am probably making an arse of it.

anyhow, mrswills, i saw your kinda list of foods, and i was wondering if you could expand on it? basically just tell me everything you eat.

mrswill · 08/04/2010 18:28

Hi Aitch!

Currently I am eating chocolate, crumpets, and more chocolate. Still havent got back on the wagon. From experience though, every few pound I lose, I usually lapse for a bit, then am good for another few weeks until the next few pound go. Am going to start phase 1 again on sunday.

On phase 1 my usual day is as follows -

Breakfast - porridge with hot water and bit of skimmed milk, decaff tea with bit of skimmed milk. Milk not allowed really, but Icant see what harm a bit of skimmed can do. Zoe has revised her diet and porridge oats now allowed on phase 1, but only 50gram.

Dinner - Either a homemade soup with a bit of chicken, or other meat or quorn slices hanging around the fridge. And Live yogurt. Or egg salad.

Tea - I usually make a curry (recipe is on this thread somewhere) with tofu, and have a bit of brown rice with it. or chicken salad.

Snacks - live yogurt.

Phase 2 -

Usually eat same sort of things to be honest.

Omelette with bacon, cherry tomatoes, peppers, any veg thats in the fridge, topped with cheese.

Homemade soups with spices in and brown bread.

Loads of hummous pittas.

Curries with tofu, or chicken.

A lot of cheese salads with olives and stuff in.

Broccoli and cauliflower in a cheese sauce. Cheese sauce being creme fraiche with loads of cheese melted into it a la jamie oliver.

Milky decaff coffees with dark chocolate if i cant be arsed to cook anything.

You can have pasta with homemade tomato sauce if you want and low fat cheese on top.

At the minute Im doing a bunk on quorn slices wrapped up with roule cheese in. And some salad.

Is this the sort of thing you were looking for? Theres a diet forum that zoe has set up, theres loads of good advice on there, also zoe comes on there and dishes out advice. its www.theharcombedietclub.com/forum/

What day are you on now Aitch?

AitchTwoZone · 08/04/2010 19:56

i really hate the idea of low fat cheese, but i ache for a bit of bread. what do you have on yer pittas apart from hummus?

mrswill · 08/04/2010 21:06

hmmmm, low fat philly, sorry.

Also a bit of st dalfour jam which apparently is alright to eat for something sweet with low fat cottage cheese.

I have them quorn slices with salad and low fat mayo dressing.

Clutching at straws really! its low fat all the way if your having bread, which is probably why i dont eat it much now, whats the point if you cant have it covered in butter and some nice cheese. I havent ate it for about 3 months, so when ive had it over the last few very naughty days, i could take or leave it. Very strange.

AitchTwoZone · 08/04/2010 22:33

right, i do quite like cottage cheese but not the low fat version. thing is though, isnt all cottage cheese low fat really? does she have a guide like 'under five g fat per hundred' or something like that? i hate to think what's been done to cottage cheese to take it down to two g.

PrivetDancer · 16/04/2010 12:06

ooh someone called 'ZoeHarcombe' has just answered on another thread. Wonder if it is her!

mrswill did you wear the playsuit?? Did it look fab?

ZoeHarcombe · 16/04/2010 12:11

Hi guys - thank you SO much mrswill for sharing our forum info.

Please do check out theharcombedietclub - it's only been going a month and we have about 1000 chatty people! I'm in there answering as many questions as I can and we have some 'super members' doing the same thing. You get all the leads on the press stuff I'm doing as well.

We're exposing the calorie theory at the moment - the idea that 1lb = 3500 calories (it doesn't) and that you will lose 1lb of fat if you create a deficit of 3500 calories (you'll be lucky if you get one tenth of that). Loads of diet myths need to be blown apart. Come and join in!

Very best wishes - Zoe x

mrswill · 16/04/2010 20:46

Privet, how are you!

I did wear my playsuit , and it fitted proper too, I didnt just squeeze myself into it . Il just see if I can upload a pic, although beware, Im rather drunk in all of them!

OMG, thee zoe harcombe on our thread, and saying thanks to moi .

No problem, just helping fellow dieters. Ive also got 9 people on it since Ive started. Including 1 who has been on calorie crap since we were 17 with no luck, and is now losing weight and actually enjoying food instead of obsessing what she can get with 100 calories left for the day, which is no way to live. Another has underactive thyroid with a lot of issues steming from that, and is feeling better than she has in years. So thank you

FrazzledBlob · 18/04/2010 10:47

Hello everyone

I am back from my holiday. I have'nt dared weigh myself yet! I did'nt go mad as my tummy is still playing up but I did drink and eat lots of quavers!

I need to get back on track so I am having a fresh start on phase one. I need to get reading and restock the kitchen asap.

Hi to Zoe - the forum is fab. I am in love with your butternut squash curry

PrivetDancer · 22/04/2010 07:44

Hi mrswill - don't see a photo yet?!
Size 10 is amazing! Well done! Are you in maintenance mode now?

I'm very well thank you, not feeling too sick anymore, and amazingly haven't put any weight on yet, which i'm v pleased about.
