2010 weight loss, Loose 2 stone by March - anyone want to join me?

Disenchanted3 · 31/12/2009 12:25

Hiya,

Am starting Monday, I have not weighed myself yet and think I probably need to loose close to 3 stone but am aiming for 2 by end of March.

Will weigh myself in here on Monday and update each Monday after.
Anyone want to join me?

Disenchanted3 · 08/01/2010 11:50

Do you think itspossible to loose 4lb a week on weight watchers if you really try hard and exercise too?

If I loose 4lb a week, thats roughly a stone a month so I could get this over by juneish.

OP posts:
Kayzr · 08/01/2010 12:04

Yeah you might be able too. But you might get moaned at. I once lost 3lb in a week and my leader moaned I was losing it too fast and you are more likely to put it back on. Though I hadn't done anything different that week.

PhaseolusLunatus · 08/01/2010 12:09

If I lose 2lb a week every week by following my plan religiously I'll consider myself very lucky. I imagine that some weeks I might lose slightly more, and some none at all as my body adjusts to the changes/retains more water etc. (Then I will turn to the tape-measure and the all-important thigh measurement )

When I've set targets like the one you suggest, Dis, I have tended to get frustrated and give up. Do you think you could aim for that, with a view to doing it as quickly as possible, and not get disheartened if it's slower?

Eddas · 08/01/2010 12:23

being stuck at home isn't good for the diet. I haven't sucumbed yet and I will try not too, but it's so tempting!

I agree with Kayzr, they will probably not like you dropping 4lbs a week, I think they aim for 1-2lbs per week after the intial week.

Kayzr · 08/01/2010 12:36

Eddas, I am fed up too. I really want a mars bar but we are having chicken Fajitas for dinner tonight and they are about 13 points so having to be really good.

I usually go out everyday even if it is just a walk to meet DH from work but the snow is far too deep.

MABS · 08/01/2010 13:19

well doen Eddas, i am trying to work from home as am stuck, grazing constantly

Kayzr · 08/01/2010 13:27

It's going to take me 35 weeks to lose 5 stone if I lose 2lb a week every week. Sounds really long but I'm sure it will go quickly enough.

Eddas · 08/01/2010 14:23

so, 2st 2lbs would be 15 weeks at a 2lb loss per week? that takes me to 25th April, so I'll aim for my ds' birthday 13th April, he'll be 3, ok, i'm gonna do that

First target for me will be the party, 13 Feb, i'd like to be one stone lighter by then, so I have 5 weeks to lose 14lbs, which is more than 2lbs per week, but...

sorry i'm waffling

I don't want to bore anyone in RL with this so am trying to stick to here! Hope no-one minds

MABS i'm trying so hard not to graze. normally i'm busy in and out with school/preschool runs, then acutally at work I don't get a break. I have been popping downstairs at work though, I work above a bakers which IS NOT GOOD! Luckily it's winter, in summer with windows open the constant waffed of freshly baked cakes/bread is NOT GOOD!

bebejones · 08/01/2010 14:34

Gonna take me about 25 weeks to lose 3 1/2 stone based on losing 2lbs a week. Seems like ages when you look at it like that!

Tesco made it through the snow & ice & brought us food! I had written DH a list & told him that was stuff for me. He ordered nothing for himself & is now moaning he has nothing to eat! If he won't eat the same as me I don't think I should have to 'plan' food for him too, especially when he did the order. Men!!

Kayzr · 08/01/2010 14:36

I would like to have lost about 2 stone by my birthday which is the 23rd April. Then I could treat myself to some nice new clothes.

bebejones · 08/01/2010 14:44

I would love to lose 4 stone by beginning of May, but just don't think that's gonna happen! If I have lost 3st by then I think I will have done well.

Lovecat · 08/01/2010 14:51

Afternoon all!

I've been trying to post on this thread all day and it hasn't let me, so here's hoping...

Right! Yesterday went well, my body is finally getting used to doing without carbs, no headaches and loads more energy.

Had the raspberry protein shake for breakfast, ham and cheese salad for lunch and bacon-wrapped chicken stuffed with cheese, creamy leek sauce and broccoli. Couldn't finish it, so DH snaffled half the chicken breast!

I didn't do any exercise but I did remember that I bought a rebounder mini-trampolene 2 years ago to try and lose weight, and DD promptly claimed it for her own in the garden. I put it in the shed in the autumn and it's still sitting there. So I dragged it out and I'm going to do some bouncing tonight!

Today:

Egg & bacon for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and dinner will be bolognese with mushrooms & peppers on a bed of spinach, topped with cheese.

I walked up 3 flights of stairs before I felt I was about to die and got the lift the rest of the way at work!

Then I got a call to say the power had gone off in DD's school so now we're at home and she's nagging me to get off the pc so that she can play CBeebies...

And now I have a challenge - I have to make 50 iced gingerbread shoes, 24 cupcakes and a lemon drizzle cake for tonight's performance of Cinderella... gaah! Shall have to try very hard not to nibble...

Blondes - that's FANTASTIC news!! Well done!

Eddas, you waffle all you like, God knows, I do!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2010 15:50

thanks everyone

i feel so chuffed, but know from next week will be back to a lb a week, which is fine,my gaol is to be in my gorgeous brown trousres by july - slowly like a tortoise - as i said in the beg of thread a lb a week is 52 lbs a year, just under 4 stone - and if you did 2 lbs a week thats over 7stone

the more you have to lose, then you can lose 2/3lbs every week, but too much weight loss very quickly means you may put it back on again

dont weigh yourself till weigh day as weight does go up and down - i just weigh on fridays, as then if i am bad at the weekend (and will be) then i can undercut points each day to make up for it

eddas - waffle all you like, thats what we are here for

everyone try and be good at the weekend or have lots of sexercise

Murtette · 08/01/2010 15:56

Hi ladies

I'm sat at home bf with the radio on and have just heard an add saying there's a free exercise DVD with The Telegraph tomorrow. This could be a solution to the fact that the one I ordered from Amazon won't be turning up for a bit and will give me some variety when it does.

Just went for a walk in the snow with the pram. That was hard work!

Blondes - well done

Dis - I think this is going to be a slog for quite a few of us. I know it will be for me. I just keep thinking that I'll be going away for a few days in March and in April its my Mum's 60th and I'll be seeing loads of people I haven't seen for years and I don't want them to be thinking about how fat I've become. Hopefully that will keep me motivated.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/01/2010 17:58

Evening one and all.....

I have a quick question. Lots of you on here are talking about weight watchers. I really know nothing about how it works. I did briefly look into it once before but it was being run by one of parents at my school and that put me right off. Also DH is away a lot and hhe thought of having to pay a babysitter to go was a bit galling.

But I did see an online version advertised. Does anyone do this? Or do people follow the ideas on their own? From the outside it all looks complicated - the points system I mean.

I think what I'm saying is, is it worth looking in to the online WW ?

PS. Veggie curry here for supper and I can't wait!!

JODIEwantsanewname · 08/01/2010 18:01

Hi all,

Back from work and STARVING, I usually have tea on the go by now,but DH goes to the pub for 'early doors' on a friday and he won't be back til about 8ish, he's usually armed with a takeaway, but not tonight So dinner will have to wait, I've just done DS's tea and it was so hard not to nibble!!!!

My motivation (short term) is my dads 60th birthday on Feb 7th,Mum and dad live in Spain and I;m flying out sans children for 5 days, with my sister, whi lives in Austrailia and as it's their summer she's super toned (does lots of outdoory things) and consequently tanned I alsways used to be the skinny sister and she had loads of puppy fat.... I hate it being the other way round

After that, I just don't know really, I do need a goal though, other wise I drift IYKWIM.

I've joined a gym today I can't wait to get back 'in the saddle' as it were and do some proper sweaty exercise, I'm crap at motivating myself, so DVD's etc don't work!!! Classes however have the desired effect!!!!!! I have my induction on Tuesday night and my first class booked for weds morning!

I'm also getting weighed in the morning, I hope it's all been worth it!!!!!

gruber · 08/01/2010 18:52

Well done Blondes! Avoiding the pizza the other night was worth it.

I'm finding it really frustrating being stuck inside too, really want to go out for a walk or bike ride but it is so dangerous and slippy. Walked round to see grandmother this pm as she is housebound (we've all forbidden her to go out!) and keep her company, it was nice to go out but not really exercise, more a balancing act on ice.

Pizzaz sorry to hear about your dad. Hope you get to see him soon.

I'm not the only one dreading weigh in on Mon, am I?

Disenchanted3 · 08/01/2010 19:04

ontheppiste I use WWs esource online, which is a points tracker, place to find recipies and record your weight loss, but thats only an accompanyment to the meeting I attend.

You really don't need a babysitter, I take DD with me, you don't HAVE to stay for the meeting, but reccomend you do as they really help (from previous experience) and if you join the meeting and set up a monthly payment you get the online services free.

Lots of people there have their kids with them so thats really not a problem.

The weigh in and meeting keep me on track, not sure just 'online' would be the same.

MY WII FIT IS GREAT!! I put my weight in and stuff and it made me Wii me really fat I nearly cried, lol, but them laughed!

I did 40 mins of stepping / jogging / hula hooping / skii-ing, and it didn't feel strenuous at all, it was just really really fun!

And, I don't want to get too excited here but the wii board weighs you when you set up your profile and THAT too says Ive lost 5lbs!! so on botth my scales im 13lbs 2 now!

But that means nothing to me TBH as the only number that counts is whatever those weight watchers scales say! so will still base everything on Monday mornings and will NOT weigh myself again (i had to for the wii tho to set it up!)

Just had WWs macaroni & cheese for 5.5 points and heaps of broccoli, greenbeans and carrots for 0 points, am stuffed

am feeling so so so postive

ABitOfPizzazz · 08/01/2010 19:15

Hi all

Lovecat hope your home cooking went well.

I am hopeful for Monday especially as I have just avoided the last of the chocolate hedgehog!

Dis Thanks for the feedback on your Wii fit. It sounds well worth it. Are you planning to use it every day?

gruber The ice is trecherous, Fareham's like an ice rink. Hope your grandmother does what she's told, my dad has just had his operation.

I am planning on finding all the clothes I can't fit into anymore and hanging them up in the wardrobe, every time I need to strengthen my resolve I can look at them.

Disenchanted3 · 08/01/2010 19:20

yes pizazzzz, thats the plan, will also do my davina DVD twice a week (40 mins - warm up and workout) and walk to pick DS up from shool each night (1 hr walk) but only when the snows gone!

Does anyone want a Nell McAndrew workout DVD? I don't use it. Just want postage covered its this one here

OP posts:
Disenchanted3 · 08/01/2010 19:28

the wii fit actually has an online calender and the date gets stamped if you do a workout, it also records the amount of time you have exercised for too.

You set a weight loss goal and it helps you work towards it.

Had a huge bowl of homemade celery soup for dinner & feel stuffed!

Dis - very of your Wii fit, DH's little sisters (10 & 13) got one for Christmas, I might have to steal borrow it!

Gruber - Ice treacherous here too (rural Gloucestershire) compacted snow & ice down the side lane by my house is about an inch thick. I had to slide my way up there to check my car earlier & lost count of how many times I nearly ended up on my arse!

Have not done the exersise today just somehow never found the time Maybe I should be on MN less!

runforit · 09/01/2010 08:25

Good morning all - well I ate as planned yesters but after my dinner and wine (very much appreciated for being a fri/sat only instead of everyday experience!) I accidently hit the xmas brandy - whoops! At least being pissed didn't make me hit the choc stash!

Need to go to Tesco today so will buy lots of healthy stuff natch.

Today I plan to run later (when hangover has eased!)Food:
B- grapefruit
L- tuna salad
D- ?
