Hiya,

Am starting Monday, I have not weighed myself yet and think I probably need to loose close to 3 stone but am aiming for 2 by end of March.

Will weigh myself in here on Monday and update each Monday after.
Anyone want to join me?

DH wants to lose weight too but neither have any will power but im really determined this year. Gonna look into WW....

giraffesCanDanceAtHogmanay · 01/01/2010 12:21

I'm starting today. Am having frozen capri sun for breakfast

Oh wow stanley!

comefollowthatstarwithme · 01/01/2010 12:22

Can I join I am not sure how much I weigh but before I got pg with dd last year I was a size 10/12 and now my size 12 jeans won't go over my bum and my size 14's are feeling tight!

I am not starting until Monday and I am not sure what I am going to do I think it will involve getting off my arse and going for long walks during the day with the baby and cutting out my galaxy addiction and late night snacks.

Also thinking of getting a wii fit but not sure.

Lovecat · 01/01/2010 12:26

Happy New Year!

Well, I started this morning with bacon, fried eggs and coffee with cream... but then I'm low carbing, as it's the only one that has ever really worked for me!

Not weighing in til Monday, but before Christmas I was 12 stone and 5'5 - I need to lose at least half a stone for my 12-14's to fit me comfortably, one stone to get back into my fitted size 12s, two stone would mean I can get back into the summer clothes I bought in May 08 after Lighterlife when I was a size 10 - well, I can dream, can't I?!

My head has not been in the right place for this for the last year, hence gradual weight gain, but now I feel ready to give it a real go.

Good luck to everyone on the thread!

DrZeus · 01/01/2010 12:28

Count me in. Want to shift at least 1stone.

Good luck to everyone and look forward to chatting on here.

DrZeus · 01/01/2010 12:31

PS Forgot to mention, I've got a book called You Can be Thin by Marisa Peer which I'm reading. It's very interesting and full of positive messages. Also got a CD to listen to once I've finished the book. Will keep you posted.

FiveSoloRings · 01/01/2010 12:39

Stanleyfletcher, did mozette know you were her sis? spooky!

Lovecat, I know what you mean about your head not being in the rigt place...I had a really crappy 2009, so I want so much more positivity this year.

Good luck everyone and Happy New Year!!!

StanleyFletcher · 01/01/2010 12:46

Georgimama -nah! She is a sweetheart and not mean at all (well, she was plenty mean when we were teenagers but I probably deserved it with all the clothes of hers I used to steal!)

Mel1981 - WW is very good but you have to stick to it. I lost 21lbs about 2 and a half years ago but have put lots of it back on. I am exercising too now which helps a LOT. I have been doing it for about 4/5 weeks and lost about 12lbs so far I think. I am well into it and have pretty much cut out bread except for the odd slice of toast in the morning. I have been pretty much low carb all round.

Today I have eaten - 1 slice of toast and lurpack for breakfast, 2 cripsbread type things with laughing cow light and tomatoes for lunch, mandarin oranges for snack and a chinese stir fry thingy for dinner (I am 8 hours ahead of the UK)

StanleyFletcher · 01/01/2010 12:47

Nope - she didn't until I skyped her and asked if she was Mozette on MN. I did tell her who I was and she found it hilarious.

FiveSoloRings · 01/01/2010 13:01

Lol! that's really spooky!

mrswill · 01/01/2010 14:03

Am seriously considering low carbing too, on the zoe harcombe diet, which has been given rave reviews.

Have stuck to slimming world for the last week, but am craving butter etc. Also reluctantly considering running again, as when i used to run the weight just dropped off without even dieting.

My friends gay wedding of the year is also on at the end of January, so i want this weight off quick, as there'll be lots of fit young men more pretty than me

Anyone has any tips for fitting exercise around demanding 17 month olds?

mrswill · 01/01/2010 14:07

StanleyFletcher - do you find low carbing shifts the weight more easily?

PhaseolusPrope · 01/01/2010 14:10

Right - I've started. Was 11 stone 3 yesterday, so will weigh again next Monday; if I do it this way I won't be tempted to binge over the weekend.

Brunch of poached eggs, beans and bacon (fat cut off), and a pomegranate. Feeling good!

MrsMorgan · 01/01/2010 14:15

I will join. Will weigh in on Monday.

I want to lose about 21 lbs. Was going to try and do it for my birthday in June, but March would be even better.

Just going to google that Zoe Harcome diet.

mrswill · 01/01/2010 14:21

MrsMorgan, theres thread here that has a link to the book for free. If you type in advanced search - zoe harcombe. The results will come up, and its the first thread, and link is posted by (god bless her) poster PrivetDancer. I have downloaded it, and printed out the diet bit. If you cant find it, id be happy to email it to you.

I have similar amount to lose as you, heres hoping it comes off snappy.

StanleyFletcher · 01/01/2010 14:37

MrsWill. I do find that the weight comes off easier, yes. I am maybe exaggerating a little though.... I tend to just thin k of carbs as bread but I know there is more to it than that. I LOVE bread but I noticed from the first time that I did WW that I did not lose weight on the weeks when I had eaten a fair amount of bread, even when I stayed within points. I now try to cut it out altogether.... weep!

I eat lots of fruit and veg (those are carbs eh?)... maybe it is yeast or wheat that makes me fat. I don't eat much pasta but I eat lots of crackers, some brown rice, try to avoid potatoes etc.

The downside is that when I exercise my sweat smells like amonia (cats piss). Nice! When it googled it I found out that it is something to do with not eating enough carbs so body is doing something else. All very science-y and I quickly got bored but the upshot is that I smell ripe when I exercise. Still - I am not in a public gym, just in my own house so not so bad.

ChunkyKitKat · 01/01/2010 14:37

Hi all .... like StanleyFletcher, I've lost weight before with Weightwatchers.

I rejoined them in November and lost 3 and a half pounds so far, but put a pound back on.

I don't seem to be quite committing to the points regime at the moment!

Would love to join you ladies, and also need to lose about 2 stone.

Perhaps I should change my mumsnet name!!

Kayzr · 01/01/2010 14:46

I lost a stone with WW early 2009 but then I stopped being able to get to the meetings and it has all gone back on now. So I am hoping you will all help me stay on track or I will have to try and get to the meetings again.

I think I might start running. I do quite a bit of cycling though it is very icy where I am so haven't been out in about a month now. I have a Wii Fit too and I do loads on there.

Mozzette and Stanley, that is quite freaky. At least you can help each over Skype as well as here.

gruber · 01/01/2010 14:51

I'm in, the weight has crept on due to several factors and I desperately need to get into my nice clothes! Count me in.

Did start today with porridge and a banana but got distracted by tree chocolates...

MrsMorgan · 01/01/2010 14:53

Thanks Mrswill, i'll have a look for it

I am going to have to go cold turkey on bread too as I am addicted to it.

ChunkyKitKat · 01/01/2010 14:57

Kayzr, how long did it take you to lose the stone with WW?

gruber, we were given a massive box of Thornton's chocs for xmas, I am being very sparing and having 2 per night, but perhaps I just need to ask dh to hide them....

MrsMorgan · 01/01/2010 15:00

Found it, thanks Mrswill. Going to have a good read so I know what food to go and buy.

Phoenix4725 · 01/01/2010 15:03

can i join in please , 2 stone by March would be a start anyway

gruber · 01/01/2010 15:04

ChunkyKitKat, I have made the plunge and given all my stocking chocs away to more deserving young cousins. Oh well it needed to be done.

Not sure about the Christmas cake though, my first one... too proud of it to give it away! Hope it will disappear rapidly, will invite loads of people to tea and then I won't be tempted.

Ask DH to hide (or eat!) the Thorntons - very brave!

DuelingFanjo · 01/01/2010 15:06

I'm with you too, need to lose a stone. Suspect my weight gain is the result of being on clomid but I also do sod all excercise so plan to do that. Am 10 st 8 at the moment and 5ft 6.
