dust obviously....have no idea what dush is...

Turniphead1 · 12/10/2009 22:04

Hi all - I am doing this (since Thursday...) and am very excited about it. The mere fact of not having to buy boring food and deny myself makes me much happier. I think the bottomline is that going ON a diet means going OFF a diet at some point (which always happens to me). So changing my relationship with food longterm - well fingers crossed.

Have put my scales away in a hard to reach cupbaord as am a demon for weighing every morning. Good luck to all.

Tommy · 14/10/2009 12:54

hi all - am still feeling chuffed as have lost another couple of pounds

It does work - but you have to listen to the CD so he can get into your head...... it sounds a bit weirdy but I agree with turniphead - it is very liberating not having to wory about diets and what you can and can't eat etc. It's made a big difference to me already

Turniphead1 · 14/10/2009 21:13

Well done tommy that is great!

I haven't listening to the CD enough - need to do so.

Tommy · 22/10/2009 08:39

everyone else given up on this?!

I need some support and motivation!

TheTerribleSpider · 22/10/2009 09:15

Hi, I just bought this, it arrived yesterday - the book and one CD, got to read it and start it yet though!

sixfoldwaitingtime · 22/10/2009 09:29

I've noticed that all the threads on this die quite quickly, and I think it's because, once you've been doing it for a bit, you just don't think about it any more. I don't feel like I am on a diet, that I am doing anything in particular, I am just eating food and losing weight.

dickiethepunchlinedonkey · 22/10/2009 11:13

Tommy
don't give up! but it takes time and remember you are not on a diet you are learning to eat the way other people do. Diets make you fat. You will be in a better shape for the rest of your life if you just stick to it.
I am now a 14 having come down from a size 20 in january. It gets easier and you break through the 'sod it's not working, i'm gonna eat what i like' to a 'i know i will feel sick/have indigestion' etc and you just don't eat like you did before because you just can't. But that takes a while- I went on diests for years and they don't work because it's all based on restriction and deprivation. it takes a while to tune into real hunger and i'm sorry to say you need to tune into it for months before you can do it unconsciously.
My tips for what it's worth are:
-plenty water- you bodt will begin to distinguish between hunger and thirst but takes a while
-question why you are eating- could be boredom, anger, procrastination about something else you must do, stress. eating more won't make these go away
-don't think in terms of good and bad days
-keep a food diary- you will be more successful as long as you are honest

  • look at those around you who don't have weight problems- they eat what they like but they don't use food for any other reason than to 'refuel'
-don't weigh yourself- judge by your clothes

You will be ok- stick with it- the alternative is piling the weight back on.
good luck!

Tommy · 22/10/2009 12:09

thanks dickie - that helped

I have no intention of giving up - I feel more liberated about food now than I have in a very long time.

I think my 2 weak points are eating because of boredom (like today - stuck at home with 2 poorly DSs) and stress - I feel like a "deserve" some chocolate or something because I've had a bad day or whatever.

However, yesterday I didn't have any chocolate because I knew I wasn't hungry and I was thinking about when he says something like that "Food will not help your emotional problems - only your hungry ones!" so I'm pleased about that.

I have lost nearly a stone as well which I should really be shouting from the housetops about

dickiethepunchlinedonkey · 26/10/2009 11:21

Tommy
How are you getting on?

Tommy · 29/10/2009 22:54

not bad thanks dickie.
Had a not very good day yesterday but have listened to the CD a couple more times (have missed it because DS3 has been really poorly and sleeping in bed with me. Today, I felt pretty good about it.

Haven't lost any weight this week but am not too worried about it

bonitagbchica · 29/10/2009 22:59

Omigod! Bought the book age ago, read it, and uploaded the CD onto my computer... my server crashed last week and I lost everything! Can someone, anyone, post me a copy please please pretty please? I don't want to have to go and buy the book just for the CD again...

I love paul's voice and it used to put me to sleep. I think the plans makes sense but I didn't lose any weigh but just kept thinking I was thin LOL.
Its great for giving your confidence a boost but not for losing weight I think Weight watchers is the best, but I do miss Paul.

Tommy · 30/10/2009 07:55

tried to send it but failed - will try again today

CaptainDJ · 31/10/2009 17:59

I happened upon this book in the library yesterday and thought- why not? I read it all last night and feel totally inspired because in a way it's just common sense. My baby and toddler stop eating when they're full so why can't I? The whole idea of there being no 'bad' foods is great. I woke up this morning feeling relaxed about the day ahead. I am eating slowly and can't believe how good things actually taste when you take time to taste it! Life is so busy I tend to just wolf things down and often get too hungry. So fingers crossed. Just don't think I can wait 2 weeks to weigh!

Tommy · 31/10/2009 19:58

good luck! Let us know how you get on

CaptainDJ · 05/11/2009 22:31

Well so far I am loving this. I feel so relaxed about food now and am enjoying my food so much and have even discovered that there are some foods I don't actually like very much! I have cheated and weighed already and lost 2 lbs in 6 days. It's amazing that I can actually stop eating. I am sometimes cooking dinner and thinking I'm not actually that hungry... whereas before it was cook it, eat it, empty plate whatever. I feel like, as Paul puts it, my brain has been reprogrammed!

dickiethepunchlinedonkey · 06/11/2009 11:20

Help me people!
I have literally a mere sprint to the finish line and I can be a 12 (ish) by xmas day. have had a horrible 2 weeks or so of stress but now over but I am lacking inspiration- like a bit of self sabotage.
Don't want to binge eat- i don't feel like doing so- but, what is it? Yes- it's a sort of 'flat' feeling.
Any tips or bit of a pep talk would be most welcome!

Tommy · 06/11/2009 13:52

what I would do ( and this is why I love this programme so much ) is to go to town on my own and have a coffee and a muffin in Starbucks or somewhere and just take a bit of time to realise how well you are doing

Tommy · 06/11/2009 13:57

glad you're enjoying it captaindj - good isn't it?!

TaLcSfromTheCrypt3 · 06/11/2009 22:31

Yes, he will. I can't eat now without him whispering 'oi porky thighs, stop now' in my ear. It works.

Tommy · 07/11/2009 07:39

talcs..... that's not on my CD!!!

Turniphead1 · 12/11/2009 21:24

Hi all. I am still "doing" this - but suffered a lull because I am, so used to actual diets that this didn't feel like I was doing enough...

and I didn't weigh myself in a good three weeks and turns out I have lost another 4 pounds without realising.

For those flagging, the 90 day success journal is supposed to really help - by recording anything the mind gets focused a lot more apparently.
