I lost 1 and a half pounds off

PuppyLoves · 27/08/2009 21:19

yay! Well done maggie

AuntieMaggie · 27/08/2009 21:24

Thanks. It includes the pound I gained last week so not that great but am pleased I lost.

I am now looking for inspiration for evening meals... have to be red as green doesn't do me any good... any ideas?

Going to have the tuscan chicken one night, but am stuck for inspiration for the rest.

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 23:10

Well done on the weight loss Auntiemaggie

I'm a red day person myself as well, I find it works better for me.

I posted a recipe a few days ago for Indian Spiced Chicken which is very nice.

I could also recommend a lovely bolognese recipe (had that tonight) and pork burgers. I can post the recipes tomorrow if you'd like them.

Another good (quick!) dinner - Sainsburys do some nice sausages in the "be good to yourself" range that are only 1/2 a syn each.

I also have a beef burger recipe too which is nice, but it has been beaten into second place now by the pork ones.

Just let me know if you want anything copying, and (if lo behaves!) I'll post them for you.

PuppyLoves · 28/08/2009 08:30

Thats a good tip about the sausages grinningbee, thanks

AuntieMaggie · 28/08/2009 09:22

Thank GB that would be great.

I tried the indian chicken and the tuscan chicken and they were nice, though I couldn't eat much of the indian one but might have had something to do with how I cooked it.

I seem to have gone off mince. I used to love bolognese and chilli and cottage pie but now the thought of mince turns my stomach. Weird.

I need loads of recipes that include speed foods as I'm going to try to eat the majority of them this week so lots of chicken for me

grinningbee · 28/08/2009 10:46

Funny how we go in phases with our food. Last time I did this before getting pg I was eating lots of quorn sausages.

Won't be doing so this time!

Right then. Recipe time

Today I will post the pork burger recipe, which is GORGEOUS. It doesn't take long to make, and I freeze half so saves even more faff, for one night anyway.

Pork Patties

Serves 4 Free on Original/Red

1 Red chilli
4 Spring onions
2lbs/908g Lean pork mince
2 tsp each of ground cumin and coriander
3 tbsp Freshly chopped coriander
1 tsp Ground ginger
2oz/57g Very low fat natural yogurt
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  1. Deseed and finely chop the chilli, slice the spring onions and peel and crush the garlic. Place in a bowl with the pork, cumin, ground coriander, chopped coriander, ginger, yogurt and seasoning and mix well.

Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes.

  1. Shape the pork mixture into 8 patties. Spray lightly with Fry Light and grill for 5-6 minutes on each side until cooked through.

That's it! Very very yummy I'm having them for tea tonight with either some roasted peppers or some courgettes... maybe both!

PuppyLoves · 28/08/2009 13:14

That is a great recipe grinningbe - even better as I have all those ingrediants in! Would be nice with sweet potato wedges as well. Might do those tomorrow, thanks

grinningbee · 28/08/2009 13:29

No problem

I think it's nice to share recipes we've tried, so we can honestly say whether they're tasty or not.

Bland food on a diet is sooooo unappealing!

Fruitysunshine · 28/08/2009 14:30

What is Fry light? Everyone seems to mention it...

grinningbee · 28/08/2009 15:50

It's in the cooking oil section of the supermarket - it's a low calorie spray "oil" but you can use it freely.

I find it does fried eggs just as well as ordinary oil. I prefer it too as it's a darn sight less messy!

They do an olive oil version, and I'm sure I've seen another one too but can't remember what it is...

BethAndHerBrood · 28/08/2009 17:17

We've just been out for coffee. I resisted the muffins [halo emoticon], and just had a skinny latte.

Chips again for tea. Surprise Surprise!!

MamaG · 28/08/2009 18:37

I had pasta for tea with half a jar of Loyd Grossman sauce - 7 1/2 syns FGS! Feel a bit like I've wasted those syns!

Anyone know syn value of olives?

grinningbee · 28/08/2009 18:43

7 olives are 1 syn according to the book.

Ouch at 7.5 on the sauce! That's more than a curlywurly

MamaG · 28/08/2009 19:02

I know, I'm still wincing at the syn value! Tahnks for info re olives - I lookd in book but couldn't find it!

Does anyone else have a really shite consultant?

My consultant is, quite frankly, crap. She doesn't give any suggestions when people have had a bad week, she just says "oh try harder next week". She never suggests new foods, recipes or anything! She's very overweight herself and never loses any (I sound horrible saying that, but she's not a good advertisement for SW!) The only reason I re-joined group is that the other members give me my motivation, not the consultant.

If I ask her about syns or HEs or anything, she says "check the book, if not, look on the SW website"

I read online about other consultants who suggest recipes and do other stuff and I think why can't mine be like that? I know a lot of people locally who stopped going as she is so rubbish.

I do feel that she should put a lot more effort in. She went through the books with me and another new member (I have never done extra easy, so I stayed to go through) and she really rushed us - the other girl was asking questions and she jsut kept saying "oh its all in teh book"

THought I'd come on here for a moan and see what others thought. Maybe I'm being unreasonable?

PuppyLoves · 28/08/2009 19:48

She does sound rubbish MamaG. My consultant is fab. She includes everyone, really praises and motivates us and talks to the people who are struggling and trys to find ways to help them.

She also does a raffle every week and talks about any foods she has found that are tasty and free/low in syns.

She also asks if anyone has anything coming up that will lead them to slip eg holidays/stressful time and this leads to the members sharing quite a lot which suprised me in m first week.

Everyone in our group seems to really likes her, she recived flowers this week from a long term member that was moving away and there were tears!

A couple of ladies have admitted to me that the reason they come is because they love the social side of the group

AuntieMaggie · 28/08/2009 22:43

I had burger king for tea... whoops!

I blame it on DP for buying it!

PuppyLoves · 28/08/2009 22:44

mmmmmmmmmmmm burger king

LackaDAISYcal · 28/08/2009 23:14

Your consultant sounds like a big bag of poo MamaG. Maybe she is from the Marjorie Dawes school of diet counselling?

I have fallen off the wagon quite spectacularly. DH thinks I shouldn't be too hard on myself and to give my self a chance to recuperate after last weeks food poisoning before starting the diet. But, even if I gain this week, it'll probably still be a loss.

Must try harder from here on in, but the fridge is full of cheese

BethAndHerBrood · 28/08/2009 23:30

My consultant was a bit rubbish too!! She spent the whole class telling you her problems, and nomatter what anyone said, it always came back to her and her problems. And her weight went up and down like a bride's nightie! Not a good example to set!

We had quorn "chicken" burgers and salad with our chips. I've bought the sw magazine today, I'm going to make scotch eggs and and some veggie burgers. They sound yum!

BethAndHerBrood · 29/08/2009 16:36

We've been to Pizza Express today. Oh Dear!! It was lovely though! If it makes any difference, I had 2 starters instead of a mains. And one of them was salad. No pudding.

We went to starbucks too. I had a skinny muffin. again.

BUT - I bought a pair of trainers, and intend to start running. [scared of looking a tit emoticon]

How does everybody else manage at a weekend? It's always harder than in the week.

Dazmum · 29/08/2009 17:15

I have just made the spiced apple cake from the new magazine, it's cooling at the moment but looks and smells really nice, so I'll let you know what we think of it. (would be even better with a big blob of double cream, but I'll just imagine that then).

Having put 1 1/2 lbs on last week, I shocked myself by losing 3 1/2 this week! Can only think that I ate tons of fruit the week before which may have hung on somehow? Don't think I have ever had such a big loss in one go before. I had been doing quite a bit of extra easying, but maybe wasn't doing it properly, so stuck firmly to green and red this week, and am hoping for another loss. I don't have far to go now, but have been losing and gaining the same bit of weight for months!

Yes, Beth, I always find the weekends harder too, I tend to fit in with what everyone else wants to eat rather than the other way round!

MamaG · 29/08/2009 20:46

ooh how is the cake dazmum?

fuzzypeach · 30/08/2009 09:26

Hello, it has been a while since I have posted as I have been a naughty girl! Just got back from a weekend in paris and am actually too scared to weigh myself! In the run up to going away I ate lots of rubbish, and have done since I got back to...oops...
New week tomorrow tho, so Im going to try to get back on track!

Dazmum · 30/08/2009 10:34

MamaG it's lovely, even without cream! Very moist and you only need a small piece to feel like you have had a treat! I am sure it's also very good for you as it has a lot of bran in it!!All my family like it too, sadly.
