LOL!! We eat loads of chips now!! One of our fave meals is a bowl of chips with baked beans over the top. Yum!! We use loads of potatoes now. Cheaper than meat, I suppose!

And I have often wondered that about the fried eggs. I just poach them.

PuppyLoves · 26/08/2009 22:35

After I have put the egg in the pan, I spray some more spray next to it and quickly spoon that over it - seems to work.

I was going to ask my consultant today as she said she often has fried egg but I felt daft so chickened out

PuppyLoves · 26/08/2009 22:35

Choc orange ice cream sounds yum!

Fruitysunshine · 26/08/2009 22:43

I started Slimming world last night - I have a whopping 9st 10lbs to lose.

Now I have to adopt green and red as my favourite colours!

MamaG · 27/08/2009 08:58

Right, I'm back again and I'm going to do it properly this time! Re-joined group last night and got a shiny new book (ooh). 1 stone heavier than when I left, but thats OK, an acceptable gain when you've had a baby IMO.

I need to meal plan my day, I think. Going to do that in a min.

I really want to BAKE today, really really really but I don't wnat to test my willpower yet, want to give myself chance to get into the swing of it again.

Beth the choc orange ice cream sounds good, how much VLF fromage frais would you add to that? I have 2 choc orange mullers in teh fridge!

LackaDAISYcal, hello! Nice ot see you on here - as you know BAbyG is the same age as your boy and consultant said last night to have one extra HEA, pref milk or cheese. She didn't say anything about having the full 15 syns though. the cow.

MamaG · 27/08/2009 08:59

It's horrifying ot think that I have to lose 5 stone 11lbs to be the weight I was when I met DH

God I was skinny. I very much doubt I'll get back to that!

MamaG · 27/08/2009 09:19

Hovis Seed Sensations Light& Nutty - can I have one slice as a HEB?

Its 800g loaf, one slice is 5.5 syns on Green.

Do you think I could have one slice as a HEB?

PuppyLoves · 27/08/2009 09:31

You can have 57g of wholemeal bread as a HEB, how much does one slice weigh?

MamaG · 27/08/2009 09:57

hmm its not strictly WM though I don't think!

I had 2 ryvitas instead

bit confused: in the Grab & Go section of my book, it says

F S 2 ryvita original
FF 4 ryvita original

so do I have 2 or 4? Is it htat if I hvae 2 it coulds as speed and high fibre, but I can have 4 if I want and it will be extra high in fibre? I think it does but not sure!

Trixel · 27/08/2009 10:08

Hey mamaG, there's a recipe in the magazine this month for choc chip cookies - not sure if that would satisfy your urge for baking or if it was more of scrummy cake you were after.... let me know if you want it. I think your ryvita theory is probably right, that's the way I read it - but perhaps someone with more knowledge will come along shortly

Trixel · 27/08/2009 10:09

Hi fruity, well done for joining. You'll get there, and we'll help!

PuppyLoves · 27/08/2009 10:16

I'd like that recipe Trixel

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2009 10:46

Hey MamaG . I was just thinking about you the other day (in a non stalkerish way of course ) and wondering how BabyG was doing.

The weights of things that are allowed confuses me as well. I am on a gluten diet and none of my GF cereals are listed. I eat a 42g serving, taking them as bran flakes etc, but not sure if that's right or not.

Hi FruitySunshine

Well, after not eating any dinner last night I crashed big time and ate a bag of crisps, a ripple and then the better part of a big bag of wine gums . I'm not even going to look and see how many syns that lot was and get straight back on the wagon today.

BethAndHerBrood · 27/08/2009 10:55

I just wrote a great, long post, then something happened and it all disappeared!

Anyway, the gist of it was, 2 ryvitas is less filling than 4, and stuffing your face with 4 couldn't be called speed food, could it? And loads more fibre too.

My original post was much more eloquent, but I've just about lost the will to live now!!

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 11:39

Hi all!

Welcome fruity and mamag.

Well, yesterdays food went like this:

Breakfast 2 weetabix and milk
Snack Banana and a toffee mullerlight
Lunch 2 slices wholemeal toast with dairylea triangles and an apple
Dinner Indian spiced chicken with courgettes and 100g oven chips (6.5 syns)

Today will be similar but with spag bol for tea with the spaghetti as a couple of heb's.

Totally understand when there's a lot of weight to lose that it's daunting. I've got 5 stone to lose, and I was only saying to dh this morning that I used to be 3 stone heavier than I am now

Still, I'm trying to think of it in half stone chunks to make it easier.

Btw, loving the sound of the icecream, and I happen to have a tub of vlf fromage frais and a couple of toffee mullerlights in the fridge... so I'll be experimenting later!

Fruitysunshine · 27/08/2009 14:21

So, I am a bit confused by what my free foods are. I know there is a section on it in the diary but I seem to have got myself stuck on bran flakes and nothing but bran flakes. I think I am almost scared to experiment with the different types of food available.

It is only day two but if you imagine a box of bran flakes disguised as a tree and me hugging the tree with my eyes closed - that's ME!

MamaG · 27/08/2009 14:24

Doing well so far (but only day 1) hehe

Yes please, I'd love the recipe for the choc chip cookies!

Going to make that ice cream now mmmm

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 14:32

Bugger.

Dh has taken the only plastic tub we own with his lunch in. Must buy some more! I'm going to have to wait now for the icecream.... waaaaah!

Baby brain is really bad today. I've just started making a bolognese (oooh, get me being all making it in advance!). All the veg cooking down nicely, recipe says add the mince.

Where is the mince?

In a solid block in the freezer!!!!!!! Need to wait for it to melt down a smidge now so I can get the paper off it and then bung it in the pot to defrost

That'll teach me to try and be organised!

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 14:38

Fruity

What is it you're wanting to change to from bran flakes? Is is the healthy extra b choices you're not sure of? Or the free food?

Are you going to do a mixture of red and green days, or the extra easy (of which I know nothing about!)?

Don't be scared to change. Getting stuck in a rut can make it boring, which leads to eyeing up the cake isle! Or is that just me

Fruitysunshine · 27/08/2009 14:43

it is the free foods grinning bee. I wanted to do a mixture of red and greed and although I can easily find all the info on healthy extras a&b, I am struggling to decide what to eat on the free foods. I have now found the free foods section in the book! (Idiot!)

I am nervous and don't know why. Maybe because this is my last shot before they stick a gastric band in me and I really don't want that.

Am I being a bit of a wuss do you think?

Cryptonomicon · 27/08/2009 14:59

Hi everyone, got my second WI tonight and am a bit nervous about it although I have been good this week I forgot to keep a food diary so worried lots of little things have slipped in.

On the fried egg front, I just flip it over so the top bit loses that horrible slime but the yolk is still runny (just until you can move it by shaking the pan as a rule of thumb).

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 15:12

No, you're not being a wuss!!! Anything new takes time to get used to. Honestly, once you get the hang of this it's really easy.

On a red day, you can eat as much lean meat as you want, including bacon as long as all the fat is cut off. You can eat pretty much any veg, the only ones off limits as a free food iirc are potatoes, peas, beans, pulses, corn on the cob (the little mini ones for stir fries are ok), parsnips... off the top of my head that's it I think. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong!

On green you can eat any veg at all, as much pasta and potatoes as you want, and just count any meat as syns. If you have a look in the book on the red and green sections, I think it lists all the free foods for each day there.

If you want to try some different things, you could try what I did and buy some second hand recipe books off ebay, or get them from your class. That'll give you a good idea of things to try.

Hope that helps a little bit

grinningbee · 27/08/2009 15:13

See - I have babybrain. You've already found the free foods bit!

Fruitysunshine · 27/08/2009 15:15

Thanks grinningbee - that helped lots!

Trixel · 27/08/2009 16:37

oh, and fruity - eat muller light yoghurts til they're coming out of your ears
grinning's right - it's really easy once you get the hang of it. buy loads of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries etc and pile those on top of your branflakes so that your bowl is brimming - really delicious.
