Perhaps you should start the nothing but fresh air diet Connie! Your haircut sounds fab and those jeans will be a good incentive

Hi, JenK, how long did it take you to lose the 1 stone last time?

Ria, it sounds so innocent now you have explained it

I have been out for a friends birthday meal and although my syn value will be high (I had mushroom risotto and a glass of wine) I still feel ok about it as I had no starter or dessert and only 1 glass of wine, so I felt that at least I chose the healthiest thing on the menu that fitted in with my green days and cut back on other parts of the meal. Though dread to think how much cream, oil and parmesan was in it

ILoveStripeySocks · 08/11/2009 20:57

CC - well done on the size 12s! I am soooooooo [enVy]! It will be a long time til I am a size 12, if ever

Welcome back JenK!

Q&A, did you use a HEA today? As your parmesan could be counted as that.

littleoldme · 08/11/2009 21:27

Just a quick one - had my first every original day today. really didn;t get on with it. Am now craving carbs big time.

ILoveStripeySocks · 08/11/2009 21:35

is it toolate to switch to extra easy?

ConnieComplaint · 08/11/2009 21:42

Oh yes, change it to an EE day? Unless you used your HEs?

You could always syn a slice of bread or something????????

Ach, the size 12s buttoned but I wouldn't have been able to breath in them, or sit down..... So less of the purlease

(totally offside but I just stepped out of the shower & my ds (who had got up for a night wee) told me my "They (pointing at my boobs) look like scooby doos eyes"....am hoping he was still half asleep at the time....)

littleoldme · 09/11/2009 08:27

I thought of changing to EE but too late. Had He pasta and some cheese and syned half a bottle of wine as I was so pleased at having no syns all day Just had my weekly weigh and another two punds off this week well on target for a stone by christmas X

sowhatis · 09/11/2009 08:40

well done littleoldme!

i have had a dodgy weekend, with 15 syns fri, sat and sun, so not expecting great things this WI tom night!!!

hey-ho!

xx

Littlevoice1 · 09/11/2009 11:02

Hi all,
Question I've been buying slimming world books off of ebay. I bought the slimming world pack 2009/slimming world green day recipes and red day recipes/slimming world directory 2009 and a delicious daily menus book.

Im now looking at the "SLIMMING WORLD FOOD OPTIMISING RECIPES".

I was just wondering if this is a good buy or if there is any other books out there that I should get.

Also can someone please explain syns to me.

Thanks in advance for any info that anyone has, desperately need alot explained to me.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

ILoveStripeySocks · 09/11/2009 12:00

I have never bought a recipe book, I just get recipes from the internet! I get by fine with just the pack you get when you koin SW. Syns are your allowance for treats each day. If its not a free food, it has a syn value, and you are allowed between 5 - 15 a day.

littleoldme · 09/11/2009 13:27

So - I always average about 15 syns a day - you maybe pleasnatly suprised.

Connie LOL at your ds - Mine pinted at my boob the other day and said, "Mummy got boingies" God know where he has picked that one up from !

After yesterdays original day disaster have decided to try EE today c'os I wnat roast chicken for tea - the challeneg will be how to avoid eating the skin !

QandA · 09/11/2009 14:39

Well done littleoldme!

I am using the the internet for recipes too

this seems a good one

I have just made vegi moussaka for us all to have this evening, will let you know how it tastes!

Have done well today, kellog's special K sustain for breakfast, ryvita and cottage cheese for lunch. Need to make sure I have plenty of fruit this afternoon though.

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/11/2009 15:04

LOL Connie, my lovely DS2 says "mummy, you aren't that fat, it's just those "

well, I have had a gain Am hoping it's not down to doing EE. Had a dodgy tummy last night too, which was a shame as I'd planned to go for a run was going to try this

started today well too, had a banana and mullerlite as I was going off to dance class straight from the school run, but the village hall was all locked up when I got there, so it looks`like I'll have to find another kind of exercise. can't go swimming tomorrow either as DS2 is starting Badgers.

ILoveStripeySocks · 09/11/2009 16:09

I attempted that Ria (the running prgrame) I managed 1 week Im not a running sort of person! Sorry abotyour gain, has it made you more resolved to do a 100% week?

QandA are you sure you are eating enough? Your meals seem quite small and no snacks?

sowhatis · 09/11/2009 16:31

Keep going Ria. I do EE and apart from 1 week (ate ALOT of choc!!) i havent gained. so dont think its the EE.

I hope you feel better soon.

I walked dogs 5 miles today and have eaten fruit as my weekend was 15 syns a day (and prob more!!)

fingers crossed for tom as i really want a good loss. only 1lb to reach my 2 stone sticker!!! lol

jenk1lovesSW · 09/11/2009 17:36

hi it took me about 2 months to lose the first stone,it didnt come off as quick as i would like BUT ive managed to keep most of it on throughout the summer.

well not a first bad day im pleased to say.

this is what ive had

Bacon,Eggs,Beans and brown toast HEB

Batchelors pasta and sauce

Braised steak with jacket potato, carrots, onions, celery, mushrooms and some gravy for which ive used my syns.

enough left for a bag of crisps for supper!!!

QandA · 09/11/2009 18:06

2 months is good JenK, especially as you have managed to keep most of it off.

Sowhatis, a 5 mile walk sounds excellent!

Ilovestripey, I know what you mean I have wondered the same, but just wasn't hungry. I have always eaten less during the day and more at the evening meal, but I think I need to try and move that around a bit. I definitely find it more difficult to think of and prepare something for lunch too and seem to be concentrating my efforts of prep for the family evening meal.

It wasn't much of a lunch, but I have more than made up for it with Dinner. The moussaka was delicious! I would really recommend it, it is the one in the green pages daily menu ideas. I have got extra portions saved for lunches to try and have a better lunch iyswim.

Does anyone know, how much do you have to be aware of portion size when you are having 'free' meal? The moussaka's only 'vice' was the cheese on top that was my HEA for the day, and I had a very hearty portion!

jenk1lovesSW · 09/11/2009 19:11

oops that should be ive managed to keep most of it off

hmm i love moussaka although usually the M&S one!!! is it from a SW magazine that you got your recipe from Q&A?

tomorrow im going to have chicken with something, maybe some salad and rice and a bit of nandos garlic peri peri sauce thrown in.

QandA · 09/11/2009 19:31

It is the main booklet from the pack Jenk, though it doesn't have the recipe as such, just a picture and ingredients. I looked online and ended up use a mix of two recipes I found and ended up just winging it.

I made the 'mince' part by frying onions and garlic in the spray oil added the vegi mince and sliced mushrooms and a can of toms, squirt of tomato puree and fried for about 15mins.

Dry fried sliced aubergines and put peeled and sliced potatoes on to par boil.

Once all cooked, put a layer of mince then a layer of aubergines then a layer of potatoes and repeated it. Then mix 3 eggs and half a large pot of fat free natural yogurt and a sprinkle of nutmeg, pour over the top and add grated cheese. Baked it for about 30 mins.

Was almost as good as the M&S one

If I am right, it is only the cheese as HEA and tomato puree as 0.5 syn (per portion) so on a green day, it is a very good main meal.

ILoveStripeySocks · 09/11/2009 20:08

QandQ, you eat free food until you feel satisfied! So have hearty portions if you like! I know I do (see my blog for evidence!).

For tea I am having noodles in soy sauce, with peppers, mushrooms, onions, peas & sweetcorn & a splash of balsamic vinegar, and chicken breast stuffed with quark, garlic & basil & wrapped in bacon. Mmmmm it smells delicious! and all free

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/11/2009 21:33

still feeling rough tonight, though no actual symptoms other than pain and bloating and feeling sick

I am inspired to keep giving it 100%. I will succeed one day!

I think I managed 2 sessions of the running plan last time. I find it hard to fit in around DH being home for the boys, and the nights being dark enough for me to dare to go out. I would love to be able to run, but currently cannot. If I feel better tomorrow I could do the first session between taking DS2 to Bagders and collecting him.

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/11/2009 22:22

I bought some red lentils today. Any suggestions for recipes other than soup? TIA.

ILoveStripeySocks · 10/11/2009 08:04

chicken & lentil stew? Im no uselol I only use them in soups & stews!

weigh-in for me tonight! The scales better be kind to me after my 100% week! Well, almost 100% i ate 3 maltesers last night lol, that were above my syn allowace!

littleoldme · 10/11/2009 08:14

Out of interest - how many syns do you allow yourselves ? I tend to go up to 15 as I have weakness for white wine. I'm wondering if I should reduce it. I only had 5 yesterday - and some of the skin a roast chicken - whoops !

sowhatis · 10/11/2009 08:30

I try to have limited/no syns in the week and enjoy myself more at the weekend. so far so good, but tonight will tell. my scales are saying ive gained, but i honestly dont know how if i have.

xx

ameRIAcansmooth · 10/11/2009 09:12

good luck for WIs. I still feel really sick and tummy achey, but am going to try to stick to plan, even though I don't feel like eating anything
