Well it's been a good day until a few minutes ago. See, told you I'm pants at this losing weight malarky. We have Halloween cakes which I bought a few days ago especially for today. I just opened them up for DH, DD1 and DD2 and of course they are there and I've just scoffed two.

ILoveStripeySocks · 31/10/2009 20:37

sparkler We had halloween cakes in too, and DP & the kids scoffed them in frotn of me! I resisted though, for now.

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 21:52

can they be your syns for the day sparkler? don't lose faith, it's only 2 cakes, not the whole pack.

I, on the other hand, am misery eating, because my DH is a work-obsessed arse, and my fun evening for the boys went arse up Next time DH pisses me off I should burn his cookbook collection rather than eating sensations.

Sparkler · 31/10/2009 21:55

There's been a few more naughties since those two cakes. I'm going to think of today as positive rather than a negative. I've been better during the day than I probably would have been if I wasn't watching my food. Eaten stacks of fruit throughout the day whereas I would normally reach for the biscuits or crisps.
Another new day tomorrow!

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 22:01

that's the spirit! new day and all that

I feel DH needs to make it up to me tomorrow with a nice naughty meal and a bottle of wine, so I'll join you on Monday (and I'll have to plan ahead as I know already he's got a staff meeting when my dance class is, and even though he's said he won't go, I know he will. I may just have to go swimming twice to get my own back!)

I am trying to keep in my mind someones post from the other day (sorry I can't remember who) that a pound and a half a week is a stone off by christmas!

Sparkler · 31/10/2009 22:02

A stone by Christmas? Wow, that's a great way to look at it!

littleoldme · 31/10/2009 22:58

Well I managed to stay away from the sweeties - mostly... My main problem is booze. I plan all day so I can have large glass in the Pm. Then I have a glass and think, "sod it" and have another. Means I'm generally having 15-20 sysns rather than 10-15. But hey ho at least I'm still counting.

Don't worry about the cakes Sparkler - just knocj them off tomorrow's syns.

Ria - thanks, that comment about Christmas has made me feel happier about all the wine I just drank X

ILoveStripeySocks · 31/10/2009 23:07

here is my blog, would be cool to share recipes & ideas!

blog

ILoveStripeySocks · 31/10/2009 23:09

littleoldme - how much do you have to lose? soemtimes those with a lot to lose are advised to have a wee bit more than 15 syns (I have been told I can get away with up to 20)

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 23:29

stripey - how much do they consider "a lot to lose"? I am looking at 5 stone plus, the "plus" being in an ideal world, 5 stone would do! (actually one would be enough to make me feel for now). I know it's not going to be easy, and even 5 extra syns wouldn't make it so, but if that's what it takes to make the difference between reaching for the biscuits and blowing the day and being able to stay in control, then I'll give it a go.

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 23:31

have bookmarked the blog. Time for bed I think.

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 23:37

would love the recipe for syn-free pancakes (and can I have maple syrup on them?)

ILoveStripeySocks · 01/11/2009 09:19

haha if you can find a recipe for syn-free or low syn maple syrup, id be your best friend for life!

Those pancakes actually do have a resemblence to real pancakes! they area bit lighter in texture, but they are tasty with sweetened quark on top.

I used 2 eggs (makes 3 or 4 small pancakes). Seperate the white from the yolks. In one bowl, whisk up the whites, with some powdered or granular splenda (or similar). The amount you use is according to your own taste, but i added 2 large spoons. Whisk until fluffy. In teh other bowl, mix the yolk with a few drops of vanilla essence. lightly fold in the yolk mixture to the fluffy whites. Pour into a hot pan sprayed with frylight. Flip over gently, being careful asthey are not as tough as real pancakes lol! I serve mine with sweetener sprinkled on top & a tiny dash of lemon juice, or sweetened quark,

"a lot to lose" i think is 6 stone or more, but its not exact. When I did SW before, i was having between 15 & 20 syns a day, and having fab loses. It gives you more to cut down on later too, when things get harder, as we have a much longer journey. I hope that makes sense!

ameRIAcansmooth · 01/11/2009 10:07

thanks stripey, I might try upping to 15-20 then.

Another EE question, can I just have "green" for one meal sometimes, or do I have to be having some meat/fish and pasta/rice/potatoes every time? I need to read up a bit more today I think

StrawberriesandCherries · 01/11/2009 10:41

Thanks for that recipe stripey, i think i will try it too. It's so nice when people answer a question like that - i asked a while ago about low syn pancakes and only got the "helpful" responses of words to the effect of 'make your own and work out the syns'

but maybe it's just me!!!

ILoveStripeySocks · 01/11/2009 12:01

Hope you enjoyyour pancakes!

I am always on the lookout for new recipes & ideas, as I just dont want to get bored. I am trying to think of this as a life-style change, not a diet, IYSWIM?

strawberries - Am hpoing to get soem good support & ideas in here. Hopefully we can all help each other?

RIA - You dont have to have meat in your meals! Yuu can have a totally "green" lunch, then mix again for teh rest of the day. Just try to make each meal 1 third superfree if you can.

Going to try making syn-free pate today! I miss pate, and I am looking forsoemthing different to have on my crackerbreads, as I always have cottage cheese!

ILoveStripeySocks · 01/11/2009 12:19

forgot to ask, who is doing it at home alone and who goes to class?

ameRIAcansmooth · 01/11/2009 13:30

I'm going it alone. I don't think that is the reason I am failing miserable not achieving my targets, as when I used to go to class the consultant irritated me and I stopped going.

ILoveStripeySocks · 01/11/2009 13:34

How have you done so far?

littleoldme · 01/11/2009 15:02

Stripey - i have a little under a stone to loose. So not heaps but enough. I figure that as long as I'm still counting the syns I don't go totally overboard.
Also tried on an old pait on jeans this am. A month ago I couldn't do the button up; now they just a tad too tight. So it seems to working!

Thanks fot the pancake recipe. I'm deffo going to try that one.

I also adapted Jamie Oliver's grilled musroom risotto and it turned out yummy. I'll post it when I've got more time.

ILoveStripeySocks · 01/11/2009 15:40

Ohhh I just bought some mixed oyster mushrooms today, so would love to try that recipe!

Do you follow red, green or EE?

ConnieComplaint · 01/11/2009 17:57

Strawberries - where did you ask your question? Was it on this thread? As I usually find the questions are answered Perhaps we genuinely didn't know the answer to your question. Hope you can find some helpful tips now though.

Stripey, I'm going to try & make those pancakes - have saved your blog as the meals look gorg!! The salads you make look sooo nice!

Pleased to report the party went well last night & I think I managed to get by without scoffing too many syns

Hi Connie. Which plan do you follow? I do extra easy, as I find it the easiest to make family dinners with. Glad you liek the blog! I do it mainly so that I can keep track of what meals I am having but also because it makes me more carefull about my presentation which then in turn makes it more satisfying to eat! Sounds daft I know, but it really works for me.

Had spag bol for tea tonight. DP has made soem chocolate crispie cakes though, and I dont think I will be able to resist

ConnieComplaint · 01/11/2009 18:46

Hi Stripey

I tend to do mostly green days, with every Sunday being an EE day so I can have a bacon breakfast plus lots of roast beef for dinner along with my tatties

Today I have been trying to get over last night, not that I'm hungover, just really tired as it was 4am when the last stragglers finally lay on the livingroom floor and passed out went to sleep

So fay today I have had: (EE day)

2 nimble (HEB)

Milk (HEA)

Breakfast/Brunch (was 12.30pm): 3 slices of bacon with the rind cut off, 2 nimble with brown sauce (2 syns) and some scrambled egg

1 boiled sweet (2 syn)

Have ordered chicken chop suey (5.5syns) with boiled rice for tea... am waiting on it to be delivered

I find EE days great on a Sunday, but mostly prefer baked potatoes & pasta on a 'normal' day.

Have lost 2 stone 1 lb & have another 17lb (ideally) to go, so hoping to have it off for April/May when dd makes her Holy Communion. Originally it was for my niece's wedding in August, but I had lost enough to feel comfortable on the day & I was happy, then it was Christmas & I can get into a size 12 River Island jean (tried them on in shop on Friday but didn't buy them as they were a bit snug - but hell, they buttoned up on me!!)

Seems DD's First HC might be do-able
