ameRIAcansmooth · 28/10/2009 13:32

I am feeling abit better about EE after reading the week plan in the mag and it says you can still have SW potato wedges as a snack. Is that really true???

sowhatis · 28/10/2009 18:51

i do EE and i eat potato xx

kid · 28/10/2009 19:02

I missed WI on Monday. I meant to miss it because I haven't stuck to plan at all the previous week and didn't see the point in depressing myself.

I did WI today though, curiousity got the better of me! I was quite pleased to see I have maintaned (again)

I really should get my act together, would be lovely to lose a bit more weight before Christmas. I would then be able to afford to stuff my face just a bit!

PurlyQueen · 28/10/2009 20:25

Not a great result last week: gained 1/2 pound.
WI tomorrow, but I reckon (even with my dodgy Lidl scales) that I haven't shifted an ounce.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 28/10/2009 20:38

I'm so fed up with cooking a SW recipe and it turns out to be crap. Just tried the pasta and mushroom dish from the calendar and really struggled to force it down. Bland and tasteless.

Last week I cooked the kirchiri and had to throw it out. Even the dog wouldn't eat it.

I'm living on omlettes and SW chips and Mullerlights. Can anyone recommend something that is actually edible?

kid · 28/10/2009 21:21

I love making beef or chicken hot pot. Its so easy and I found an even easier way of making it!

Usually I cut all the veg that I want to use. But I spotted a bag of caserole veg in Asda so bought a bag of that. I then just had to dice the meat, put it all in a dish, add some worcestershire sauce and stock made with bovril. cover it and put in the oven 180 degrees and set the timer for 1 1/2 hours.

StrawberriesandCherries · 28/10/2009 22:07

2lb loss this week

SW rates going up in the new year so remember to buy your 12 week pass at end of December to get the cheaper rate!! Goes up a £1 a week I think it is

ameRIAcansmooth · 28/10/2009 23:39

that's a shame S&C. I really have a problem with the "profit making" aspect of slimming. (not just SW). I was feeling quite warm towards them too after reading all the 40th anniversary stuff in the mag. Anyone know why it used to be J&M before slimming world?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/10/2009 09:02

Our group leader did say it was only about the 6th price rise ever and that its been years since the last one. They must make some money though.

Kid, I'll have a go at the hot pots, not tried them yet. I think if I can find a few more dishes that I enjoy then I'll have more chance. Thanks.

gingernutlover · 29/10/2009 09:29

hi all

hope no one minds me jumping on the band wagon so to speak. I need to lose about 10 lbs (maybe a stone) and wondered how easy it is to follow slimming world?

I am a part time teacher and the rest of the time busy with my dd age 4

we eat out quite a bit and takeaways too - is there any way that SW will fit in with this or would i ahev to stop the meals out and take away completely while i do it?

I did slimming wolrd years a go but cant really remmeber what it involved. Anyone who can tell me basically what it entails?

ConnieComplaint · 29/10/2009 10:36

Hi everyone

I have a few well earned days off work so am doing my 'catch-up' pc time this morning before I go and tidy the rest of the house.... dd (8) is tidying her room at the minute, ds (5) is just after hoovering his room & is now getting dressed whilst I am still in my jammies....

Anyway, well done to all those who lost & maintained....as did I this week!! I was expecting a gain as I was very hungry over the weekend and ate and ate...... but I didn't touch the family size bag of maltesers though

Am having a party on Saturday night, going to do a buffet - with some sw stuff for me though we'll more then likely have our tea before the party so that way I can spend all my syns on vodka....

gingernutlover - Some Chinese and Indian dishes are sw friendly depending on what you choose.... chow mein is low syns, as is chicken and pineapple, your boiled rice will be free is green or and EE day, your noodles will be low synned as they probably have been drizzled with oil, but if you make them at home they're free

Someone who eats Indian will be able to tell you the syns of that 'cos I don't know, but I seem to recall there is a dish low in syns. Chip shops are a nightmare, as is McDonalds, Kentucky etc...... McDonalds salad bowl in 19.5 syns!!!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 30/10/2009 12:30

Just bookmarking as have read the whole thing but no time to post.

Can I join please?

Have lost 1.5 stone so far this year but it's creeping back on so need to get a grip.

If someone would kindly give me a MN kick up the arse to make me plan my meals and stop eating chocolate and crap I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Will look back later for said kicks...

ConnieComplaint · 30/10/2009 12:34

THat enough?????

sowhatis · 30/10/2009 14:59

Hi all,

after last weeks gain, (i ate ALOT OF CHOC!) i am pleased to say its all off! yay! now to carry on til weigh in on tuesday and i will have lost quite a few lbs i hope!!!

hope everyone is well

xx

ameRIAcansmooth · 30/10/2009 22:45

why is it you can't see it come off, but it's really obvious when it goes back on?

ConnieComplaint · 30/10/2009 23:15

You having a bad day sweetie?

I'm down here in this room so I can avoid dh!

Not that it's him per se - more the huge box of mini muffins he has welded to the kitchen table the bastard

We're throwing a party tomorrow night. DH went to Tesco after work & I'm going to stab him bought them out of whatever junk they were selling... huge tubs of flavoured nuts, onion rings, nibbles, sausage rolls..... at this rate I won't gain any weight anyway....I'll be far too busy rocking in a corner!!

PLUS - we've a mouse I found droppings through the week but DH said, ohhh noooo, that's just DIRT!! the git but really it was droppings... then I found a bag tonight with holes ate in it..... we have set 5 traps & if the wee bastard isn't dead by the morning, I'm leaving home.

ameRIAcansmooth · 30/10/2009 23:25

oh no Connie (mainly to the mouse). for some reason I read your other post and thought you were having yourparty tonight. Is it for halloween? DS1 wants to teach DS2 to make bread and butter pudding tomorrow, I have masses of eggs to use so if we can get some reduced priced bread from the shop I will let him. Our bread is fresh - I wonder if I could make it with stale baguette? Actually might just go get some co-op bread in the morning as it's pretty dry anyway, and I expect we'll have eggy bread, it being Saturday and all....

I have had a bad week. In a general way. And have struggled. But I keep dipping in to the mag when I have a few minutes and I feel inspired to try EE. Have been feeling a bit off colour and I thought my face was swollen, but looking at the scales chances are it's the weight creeping back on

Probably won't get out to stock up on SW shopping til Monday though, as DS2 is knackered from all the holiday activities he's been doing, and DS3 has a cold and a bit of a nasty tummy Can't face the trip into town with them on my own anyway. It's been a long week, with not enough family time to make it fun for the boys

sorry, am rambling.

ConnieComplaint · 30/10/2009 23:41

Ria - I know I shouldn't have - but I sniggered at you thinking your face was swollen.....I did that once too, rather than admit I had gaied weight. I told DH I was getting glandular fever....but he said it was probably the family sized aero I had eaten

I've never made bread & butter pudding before! Dh is the cook round here, he made some apple pie on Wednesday night, as well as some shortbread biscuits! I wouldn't have a clue what ingredients to buy for a start!

Poor wee DS, it sounds as though he's been kept busy though! My two have been tidying for me today - though DS is obsessed with the mouse, he thought it would walk right into the trap as soon as it was down. Then came & told me before bed to waken him if it's caught so he can feed it I think I'll let Dh explain that one to him!!!!!!

Eggy bread sounds delicious... my favourite EVER - but it has to be made with white bread & loads of real pure Irish butter Bo brown bread with low fat spread for me..... and I wonder why I have weight to lose?

I'm dressing as a cavewoman tomorrow night.... DH is a caveman... he looks hot - I just look stupid!!

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 00:18

LOL Connie (I did have a sore throat/neck/face last weekend and decided I had mumps/glandular fever, but the swelling didn't go when the pain lessened - it still hurts a bit)

I got my own back though - just chuckled at your post on the "boy" thread. Hang on to that thought. My Ds1 either smells of mens feet or like a tarts handbag, depending whether he's been at the Lynx or not...

Hope you have a great party!

sowhatis · 31/10/2009 09:29

Enjoy your party! we have one to go to tonight..........loads of fun for me, no food and no alcohol! nice!

hope you are all doing well xx

Sparkler · 31/10/2009 12:51

Hi guys. Can I join you please? Woken up this morning feeling rubbish. I feel fat, frumpy, lethargic and just plain yuk!!
I have posted on Slimming World threads before over the years (joined Slimming World 7 times in total ) but got so far and given up.
I've decided I'm going to try and go it alone rather than join group again. I know how to do the plan after joining so many times, it's just a case of me getting my arse in gear.
So, it's lunch time and I'm already craving naughty stuff. It's not going to be easy is it?
Off to make myself some noodles (sigh!! lol) and walk past the box of crisps!!

ameRIAcansmooth · 31/10/2009 14:16

hi sparkler. I think we might have been on a SW thread together before? (RiaButterflew) Your description of you is exactly how I feel (with a bit of misery on the side

I going to have another shot at 100% effort from MOnday, will spend tonight and tomorrow reading the mag and planning shopping lists and meals.

Am feeling like Cinderella's punpkin today If it stays fine I am going to take the boys to the village fair tonight (2 roundabouts, a prize stall and hot dogs, Was much bigger in my parents day apparently). No halloween for us (the boys are fine with idea during the day, then as soon as it gets dark...) Not going to the bonfire in town as theboys don't like bangs, and we won't even make it to Whitby for Goth weekend tomrrow as I can't face the drive on my own

ILoveStripeySocks · 31/10/2009 19:57

Hi guys, can I join you? I am on day 4, doing extra easy, and finding it well, umm, easy! lol

I am keeping a blog of my food, with pics (hee hee, it gives me somethign to focus on esides eating!) if anyone is interested.
