I just logged in to the website, and I have "officially" maintained for 4 weeks now, following a 1lb gain after my last break in the Dales. (unoffically I have lost between 1 and 2lbs this week when I've been away), I need to lose 2.5lb to get back to my lowest logged weight (about 7 weeks ago)

AuntieMaggie · 02/09/2009 20:14

A few months ago I bought a bag of red lentils for a recipe I saw... do you think I canfind the bloody thing now? I swore it was on on of these threads!

AuntieMaggie · 02/09/2009 20:48

I'm on a bit of a recipe mission tonight...

I'm trying to broaden my fish tastes and thought I would try the super speed fish, but have never tried many of them before. I love salmon, like pollack, hoki, cod, red mullet, sea bass and bassa but not tuna or haddock.

So can anyone tell me if these are worth trying and if there are any good ways to cook them or yummy recipes for fish? I've seen a few of them in my local morrisons but need a bit of encouragement before I brave them!

Coley
Dover Sole
John Dory
Lemon sole
Monkfish
SKate
Dab
Flounder
Red snapper
Tilapia

RIAlityBites · 02/09/2009 21:22

I believe lemon sole is good, and snapper. But I am going on what I can remember from DH's menus (so obviously not SW friendly). I HATE fish. Canned tuna and battered cod/haddock and fish fingers are my absolute limit.

letsgostrawberrypicking · 02/09/2009 21:23

Aunty Maggie the SW website is really good for fish - just type in what fish you want to use and recipes come up, really helpful.

Lost 2.5lbs this week so thats 9lbs over 3 weeks. Aiming for the stone over 5 weeks

RIAlityBites · 02/09/2009 21:24

Monkfish is one of DH's faves too. We used to had dabs/skate on a Friday night when I was little - yuk! Obviously, Rick Stein is your man. He gets ever so slightly weird enthusiatic about fish doesn't he!

npg1 · 02/09/2009 21:25

Hi all. I am new here, did Sw last year but now need to loose some weight so doing it myself at home. Does anyone know how many points those Danone activia instensely creamy yoghurts are please?

Thanks!

letsgostrawberrypicking · 02/09/2009 21:33

Hi npg1 welcome!! have just checked the website and they are 2 and a half syns each

ConnieComplaint · 02/09/2009 21:39

Ria - it's my sister & I will grill her tomorrow evening about your thighs

I am thoroughly and utterly ashamed of myself....................I have gained 3lb this week

I knew it was coming & my God, did I enjoy putting it on, but Jeez, such a colossal gain surely can't be good.

And you know what pissed me off? The girl I sit beside laughed and me & said "Oh, now you'll see, once you start putting it on, more just keeps joining it...."

So, have made tuna pasta for tomorrow lunch, and am going to gym straight from work!

RIAlityBites · 02/09/2009 22:02

tell her to feck off! if you know where it came from, if you enjoyed the putting on, and if you now know what you're going to do to get rid, then you are in control. And that is half the battle won. It's only 3lb, it's not "stuck to your bones". A good week and it should go as quick as it came.

Thanks for grilling your sis about my thighs (if I was a cow it would be my thighs worth the grilling)

hi npg.

ConnieComplaint · 02/09/2009 22:53

I could start by telling you how I put on the 3lb... will I make you all sick? And wonder how such a small (in height!) lady can eat so much? (The wedding pix are on FB for those of you who are my friends) Not meaning some aren't, meaning those who have me on their list!!

I knew I had this wedding coming up, I knew I was having the week off, I had set myself a goal of 1.5stone for the wedding which I reached, so give myself the whole wk off plan...

Anyway last Wed after WI I had a chinese, chicken with chilli sauce & boiled rice. Followed by an ice-cream.

Thursday OK until evening time when I had a party to go to straight from work, ie: famished! HAd about 4 triangle sarnies of white bread with egg & bacon mix... followed by crisps, a bun, birthday cake & alcohol...

Wedding Friday> sausage sarnie for breaky on white bread, crisps & biscuits on car journey (3 hours) 5 course dinner, followed by wedding cake, a chocolate fountain & a buffet.... then the vodka...

Saturday morning fry-up, evening time dinner was another chinese!
Sunday was a good day, just had maltesers & loads of alcohol... vodka mixed with west coast cooler

Ya get the drift & I'm getting bored telling how bad I have been... BUT I have got the badness all out of my system now & shall continue to post here & the sparkly place (tho won't enter the confessional over there....)

KICK MY ARSE!!!

RIAlityBites · 02/09/2009 23:56

for a whole week that was fairly restrained

consider your arse kicked - you may now poise to kick mine regularly (3 meals a day is it?) over my 2 week kick-start (no pun intended) GI desparation diet. am not going to be naughty until the wedding itself and then the night after the wedding when we come home and have a takeaway (and probably most of that day due to travelling etc). (apart from a tiny portion of left-over chinese that I might have for tea tomorrow, but if it is my main meal, then I am still in control)

If I could sleep for 2 weeks solid, then I would lose weight wouldn't I?

PuppyLoves · 03/09/2009 08:34

at that girl Connie, what a cow! She'll eat her words when you lose it all.

I want to make Beth's pasta salad but not about mayonnaise and syns? Which mayonnaise is best and how many syns is it?

PuppyLoves · 03/09/2009 08:34

*not sure about mayonnaise

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2009 09:40

Extra light hellmans mayo is pretty good for syns - really low.

Thanks Strawberry - I'll have a look at the sw website when I get chance.

Connie - I skimmed over what you ate and am NOT going to read it properly cos I have a feeling it may start e off on some cravings - yes I am very suggestable in that sense.

Note to self - I do not like chicken in tomato based sauces so STOP TRYING RECIPES LIKE THIS!

MamaG · 03/09/2009 09:56

First WI last night and I've got 5.5lbs off

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2009 12:04

I'm confused - doctor weighed me this morning at 110kg which is about 17 stone something (correct me if I'm wrong) so unless I've lost a stone this week that's about a stone lighter than SW think I am...

I am very confused.

On the plus side, since Feb I've lost over 16kgs

RIAlityBites · 03/09/2009 12:51

You wouldn't think scales could be a whole stone out of sync. Are you similar to either weight on your own scales? I am around that weight too.

tammybear · 03/09/2009 12:52

Well done MamaG and AuntieMaggie!!

AuntieMaggie, I found that scales differ a lot from each other. Like my home scales say I'm 4lbs heavier than I am when I get weighed at SW. Maybe it's like that?

I've been good so far this week, but weighed myself this morning and have put a lb on I haven't even fallen off the wagon once, so confused also

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2009 13:05

What have you been eating?

I had a week like that the other week where I was so good but still put on a pound. Perhaps you've been eating something that makes you retain water? Or is it close to star week?

If I eat a lot of carbs I tend to put on weight.

I have just had a lush salad for lunch inspired by Jamie's american road trip the other night. Spinach, watercress, rocket, radishes, cucumber, tomatoes, asparagus, runner beans and salmon. With just a touch of dressing. Love it. Amazing how nice some vegetables are raw as well as cooked. I sliced them really thinly too like he did and it made a change.

MamaG · 03/09/2009 14:00

Would anybody be interested in doing a Day's Menu thread?

We could have Red, Green and EE threads and we could all post a day's food in one of them

i,e,

Green

Breakfast

2 weetabix (HEB)
250ml semi skimmed milk (HEA)
banana
apple

Lunch

Soup (recipe here!)
2 slices of wm bread from 400g loaf (HEB)
Mullerlite

Dinner

etcetc

Would anybody else be interested in doing that?

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2009 16:58

Yes - I do a diary on the sparkly place anyway so could just copy it and maybe get some more ideas and share some.

Also, what about a recipes thread? We get some lovely recipes on here but we lose them amongst all the chatter

tammybear · 03/09/2009 19:01

Ooo I'd love a recipe thread!

My week so far has been this:

Monday (G)
Special K Sustain (HEb), 250ml semi-skimmed milk (HEa)
Mac Cheese (SW recipe) which makes up another HEa with the cheese and HEb was bacon.

Tuesday (O)
Special K Sustain (HEb), milk (HEa)
Chilli (very lean beef mince, tomatoes, chilli packet which is 6 syns for the whole lot), potato wedges (HEb)
Lamb steak, swede and carrot mash, broccoli.

Wednesday (G)
Hash brown homemade (potatoes, onions, eggs), bacon (HEb), baked beans
2 slices of beef (HEb), potatoes, carrots, broccoli, swede, sweet potato, parsnips, bovril for gravy.

Today (G)
Scrambled eggs, 2 x wholemeal toast (HEb), baked beans, bacon (HEb)
Batchelors Pasta - Cheese & Broccoli one.
Jacket potato with baked beans and cheese (HEa).

Went to the gym today though to help boost it going the other way, and hoping to go again tomorrow.

nikkid21 · 03/09/2009 20:27

Hi all - can I come back and join in again please? Haven't been to group since 25th June and had a summer well and truly off of the sw wagon with lots of wine, french bread, pringles and chocolate. (all the stuff I miss on SW)

Went back to group today and am 7lb over target weight Not as bad as I expected but would like to get back down to target as that 7lb is the difference between being a comfortable size 12 and nudging into the size 14s.

It's actually 2 years this week since I first joined SW weighing over 2stone more than I weigh now so i'm quite pleased to have kept the majority off for that time.

Had a good start today as have kept syns down to 5 on couscous, some philly light cheese and a spoon of jam. Now want to eat junk as i do every evening but will go have a cup of tea instead.

RIAlityBites · 04/09/2009 09:34

I went to bed early last night, so avoided the call of the left-over chinese. I have binned the bit that DH didn't eat, luckily not much or it would have been a disgusting waste. Yesterday was a success, fingers crossed for today.
