Gave birth to dd2 4.5 months ago and since then I have lost 2st2lbs of the 3st I put on in pg. I would like to be slimmer than I was when I conceived though, so ideally have about 22lbs left to go.
It would really help me to have a pal or two to chivvy me along.
Any takers?

I'll join.
need to lose 1stone.... I have been doing the GI diet for 2 weeks now (if i'm honest 1 week) lost 2lb last week and gained 2lb this week.

I am so ashamed this week I have eat nearly half of a birthday cake, 7 glasses of wine, 4 bags of crisps, 1 bag of mistrels, the list goes on.

But to my credit I have been eating GI meals in between snacking.

I really need motivation.

Surfermum · 25/05/2005 20:31

And I'm only 5'4 too! The biggest I've ever been, and a stone heavier than when I went on maternity leave . Still I'm happy ..... well, was. Don't think I will be able to heave myself onto my feet on my surfboard anymore. That's the deciding factor.

sassy · 26/05/2005 09:44

OK, how's about this?
I'll keep a spreadsheet detailing how people are doing; we'll have a weekly weigh in on weds (godd alliteration there!) and people can let me know how they've done that week. Virtual prizes for reaching milestones (half stone, stone etc) and lots of postitive vibes!!
If you haven't yet stated how much you want to lose, can you post this for the spreadsheet?
Good luck, ladies - eat but don't cheat!(Cheesy Dale Winton wink there )

Hi Girls - can I join. I came on mumsnet theis morning to have a moan about my weight - AND despite swimming 3 times a week , walking regularly ( and I mean fast walking) eating healthly and stopping the half bottle of wine I use to have most evenings, I have only lost 3lbs in 4 weeks - talk about fed up!!
What the hell am I doing wrong????
Advice appreciated - don't want to hikjack your thread SO may start another asking this very question....

KBear · 26/05/2005 13:07

Hi Sonnet, you're not hijacking at all and welcome to the not slimming very successfully at the moment club!! But this is set to change. Post your statistics and Sassy will keep tabs on us all!!!

You sound like you doing it all right, weight loss is supposed to be slow and measured and that way it stays off longer. You do more exercise than I do, how do you find time?

Sonnet · 26/05/2005 14:48

Hi Kbear,
My stats are as follows:
9st 7lbs. Ideal weight is 8st 7lbs
Target is as close as I can get to it by the time I go on hols. Just counted and I've got 7 weeks to go - based onthe last 4 weeks I should be 9st.

I swim in the evenings, not ideal, but go about 8pm after DD's are in bed and am back by about 9ish minus the shower and hairwash which I do at home.
On the days I work I try and walk aroud the block (not managed it this week due to work commitments) I also try and walk or swim on my two days off - depends what I have on.
I think that I need to focus for the next 7 weeks so that I swim on my days off rather than clean, cook, iron etc - IYSWIM

What day do we have to post our weight loss??

sassy · 26/05/2005 14:59

Hi Sonnet, welcome.
If you can post weight-loss on weds that will be great.
Good luck!

Can I join Kbear? I am 9st 9 (weighed myself Monday 16 May) and have been trying to be good for the past week and a half. I am doing so little exercise at the moment. This time last year I took part in the moon walk, but walking around today and uphill I was puffed out. I really need to get myself in gear. We have two weddings coming up in June and even though not grossly overweight, I know that I could do with getting rid of that 9lbs and keeping it off. All advice welcome.

Can I join please? Going on hols in July and need to at least be able to wear a swimming costume. I lost a lot of weight (unexplained) but it's creeping back on and my size 12s are feeling snug. Don't know my weight but will trot off to weigh myself. I'm 5' 8".

Can anyone recommend a good exercise video as I'm starting a course and won't have time to go to gym as well.

How's it going everyone? Sassy - you started it so you had better be winning!!!!

I took the kids swimming after school and did lots of "leg work" albeit not actual swimming cos I was watching them (6 and 3). I am going to keep up the walking and force myself to bums & tums next week!

Bought a skirt today (you must have heard - I've been boring the world with the news!!) and it is really nice but I want a size 12 one!!!

hi5 · 26/05/2005 23:11

May I join in please?
I'm 11st5 but that was this morning, the day before I was 11st9 - the day before that it was 11st4.Maybe I need new scales. I just want to keep trying and have someone to tell. I don't exercise as much as I used to although I walk the kids to school 3mile round trip, at least 3 times a week ( if it isn't raining)but I could do with a sit up checker- I'd really like it if we kept eachother on task to do tummy/waist exercises.

tiffini · 27/05/2005 09:52

I am starving......................
but i will resist the urge for an indian...hopefully
Have been doing lots of sit-ups to try to get rid of my mummy belly and walking my DS to school.
I have heard that Hula Hooping is good for the waist line, might give it a go, but only when no-one is around because i will look like a total idiot.

Keep up the good work ladies.

Ulysees · 27/05/2005 13:37

I had an indian take away last night but chose veggie curry, boiled rice and chapati

Weighed myself yesterday and I'm 10 st 10lbs I'd like to be 10 stone by the time I go away on July 19th.

Lucymoo · 27/05/2005 14:02

Hi Sassy,im 11stone 3lb and i would like to lose a GOOD stone im going on holiday tomorrow so i will miss Wednesdays weigh in.Will it be ok to weigh in with you all the following week?Im going to try and be good and hopefully not put on anymore weight!

Lucymoo · 27/05/2005 14:05

Nearly forgot GOOD LUCK everyone for the weigh in on Wednesday.

sassy · 28/05/2005 07:39

Well done to all those being good..I managed to resist the urge to eat loads of choc during the last few days (I did scoff an entire pack of licorice allsorts yesterday but they're sin-free cos they make you poo, so the calories don't have time to get absorbed - that's what I'm telling myself anyway! We're off to a wedding today so I'm gonna have to eat quite well, but I have offered to drive home, so will only have 1 glass of wine.
Good luck for all those bank hol bbqs, ladies!

OP posts:
weesaidie · 28/05/2005 16:39

Won't be any bbqs up here! Is fecking freezing!

Slightly worried about the weigh in, thought I was doing quite well but put on my jeans today and were tighter than expected!

Oh dear oh dear oh dear!

dinny · 28/05/2005 16:48

Can I join too please? DS nearly 9 months and still not back to even near normal. Boobs are so huge feel freakish! Am currently 10.5 and want to get back to 9 stone (pre-preg weight) - am 5.7 (I think.....!)

I go to gym three times a week and walk a lot but my total downfall is evenings quaffing wine and eating crap - just can't get out of the habit of splurging once babies are in bed. Got to go back to work in two months and really want to be back to "Me"!! Can I join you?

weesaidie · 28/05/2005 16:52

Hey dinny

I didn't start this thread but I am sure all are welcome!

My friend is her way over to mine now and of course have asked her to bring over some wine! Well, it is my night off, dd is going to her dads...

KBear · 28/05/2005 17:55

Yep, Sassy is our leader but everyone is welcome (not doing too well myself actually (see ice-cream thread!!). It's all this hot weather (two days ha ha) - must eat ice-creams.

tiffini · 28/05/2005 18:55

I have had an ice crwam too & a pork pie..........DAMN IT....

Furball · 28/05/2005 21:37

Can I join in too? I've just starting Slimming World on my own. Started last Monday at 12 st would like to be 10 st but being realistic I think 10 1/2 is more do-able.

KBear · 28/05/2005 21:56

Hi Furball - weigh day is Wednesday! Post your stats then so we call all cheer at our magnificent first week weight loss (or not!).
