Thought i'd set something up, as so many of us are interested in joining.

Not sure what goes on in these threads, but guess a good starting point is for everyone to state how much weight they want to lose? Then i guess we need to decide whether to just update each other on progress as and when, or whether we should have a communal weighin say on the 1st of each month.

I guess if anyone has any healthy recipes, or exercise tips, then its a good place to share them too. Also a good place to boast when you've eaten something healthy rather than heading for the biscuit tin , or when you've dropped a dress size or got back in pre-preg clothes (I've had to go and buy more clothes as i'm nowhere near my pre-pg size).

Found you.

Here are my stats then:

5 ft 8
11stone 13lbs as of saturday morning.

I was 11 stone at the start of my pg so would like to get down to that, if not a little bit less (hopeful emoticon)!

Have so far lost 6lbs in the last 5 weeks so progress is slow at the mo.

Here is the plan:

Trying to keep to 1500 cals per day (logging it on Glamourdiets.com).
Running 3 x week (couch to 5k plan)
Wii active 30 day plan

dandy like the sound of hommous and rice cakes as snack. Have the hommous but no rice cakes - only evil evil bread in the house at the moment. Must resist must resist.

Am not a fan of oatcakes TBH. But love hummus so will have to go back to that with carrots I think. Not a great day today. No time for exercise, but hopefully I'll get some tomorrow. Am off for a cream tea though, so I will need to exercise!

Belgianchocolates · 22/06/2009 22:16

Just having a sneak at this thread. Not sure if I want to join in or not. I'm not happy with my belly and my clothes size at the moment, but at the same time I don't really want to do any serious dieting, because I think it'll come off in the end. Well, come to think of it, I do have some sort of plan: As I really love cereal I'm planning to have a bowl for breakfast and lunch, rather than cheese on toast or something. Off course I'm cutting down on snacks and I've been pretty good at cutting out the after dinner snacks.
I'm also planning to go for more walks with C in the pram and to join this buggy walks group, which I missed last fri due to the runaway car incident.

I'm currently 70kg, that's 8kg more than what I was when I got pregnant and 16kg less than at the very end of my pregnancy. I'm hoping to get to 60kg in the end, which is what I was up until about 6 months before I got pregnant with C.

Morning all!

Checking in!

I'm 5' 7" and weigh about 95kg I think. My plan of action is to go back to changing my attitude towards food, which I was doing before I got pregnant! Am using Paul McKenna's 'I can make you thin'. I don't know how much I want to lose, I'd like my clothes to be in smaller sizes and I'd like to have a better attitude towards food to ensure I stay thin and don't pass on my attitude to my daughter!

Paul McKenna worked for me previously and I lost a dress size without even trying. If you haven't thought about it, I'd recommend having a look at the book and a listen to the CD. For me the principles of eating whatever I fancy, but only eating when hungry and stopping when full and enjoying every mouthful worked much better than cutting out food I love.

Reggiee · 23/06/2009 09:19

Hi all - checking in.

Am 5' 7, and 69kg. Exactly the same as pre pregnancy and have been fortunate enough to lose this and my jelly belly without much effort .

I do desperately want to get fit and toned though, as my 40's approach. My dmum had a triple heart bypass at aged 39, so exercise is really important to me. However, I really need the motivation to do some. Please feel free to prod me with a hot poker to eject me from the comfort of the sofa....

Top tips - someone mentioned a pedometer. These are dead cheap and really motivating. It is amazing when I first used one how little I actually moved.

Blottedcopybook · 23/06/2009 11:45

I'm trying to work out a way to go swimming once a week, wish me luck!

Belgianchocolates · 23/06/2009 12:28

I've just done my first buggy walk in a bid to get more excercise in and loose the flabby belly. It was great and lovely weather for it too. There were 20 mums with babies. A brisk walk in a local nature recreation area + squats, push ups etc... Perfect as I can take C. On top of that I discovered thanks to one of the other mums that there's a pilates class in the function room of the pub at the bottom of my road. I'd been looking for a pilates class (osteo told me that's great for my back and pelvis) in the area and couldn't find one, so when dh comes back I'll have a go at that soon.

I might get myself a pedometer to see how active I really am.

pulapula · 23/06/2009 14:54

Hello ladies, just checking in.

I am 5ft 5.5in, currently 11st2 (was 11st5 last week so BF is still obviously working the magic as I ate lots of rubbish too). I was 13st9 on 11 May (the day before giving birth).

My target is 10st, which is just under my pre-pg weight but still a stone heavier than my wedding weight when I was at my peak fitness/health when I did Rosemary Conley's low fat diet plan and did proper exercise 3 times a week!

I made conscious decisions not to eat cake yesterday, and not to have a danish pastry when out today (I had a fruit smoothie rather than a hot choc too!). BUT i did eat a bag of natural sweet co. sour teddies last night which obviously are covered in sugar .

Therefore my plan is to resist chocolate, crisps, sweets etc and have more healthy snacks, do some pram pushing and dust off my davina workout DVD. With having a cs i'm not meant to do anything too aerobic until 10 weeks. I am tempted to get a pedometer too as I seem to spend a lot of time pacing around with a heavy baby in a sling- I know its not fast walking, but i'm sure it must do something.

Hi All, can i join too, i really need too!

Im 5ft 2in, and 10st 11lb. I want to be about 9st 4lb. DD is now 10 months old, and i weigh more now than when she was born . I did suffer hyperemesis though, and after giving birth was thinner than pre pregnancy, although i soon ate my way up . Ive managed to lose 6 lb already, just being careful what i eat, and my davina dvd has been looking at me meaningfully for a while.
I managed to lose two stone after uni without a load of effort and this was mostly by running, and not eating junk. Going to start running again when my joints get used to going anywhere apart from the fridge, as weight literally fell off last time. Going to weigh on saturday, so will post my results. Ive had a nasty stomach bug this week, so im expecting lb's shed!

mrswill · 23/06/2009 15:36

Nuttyworkingmum - alternatives to sweets and crisps. If you go into holland and barratts on the shelf with all the food bars etc, is these little packets of sweets like wethers, but their low calorie and good for a sweet tooth, cant think what their called. What i used to do to, is plain popcorn with a bit of sea salt over it. Low on vitamins etc, but sometimes you just want sweets or crisps, and they can fill the gap.

llareggub · 23/06/2009 15:59

Yay!

I've just weighed on the wii and I've lost another pound. Only 12 more pounds until I reach my goal weight, although I'll be setting myself another goal when I get there. Small steps and all that.

I've just done 35 minutes of aerobic activity on the wii, which consisted of 19 minutes of jogging, 3 minutes of hula hooping (!) boxing and step. I use step as the warm-up. Phew. Off for a shower before the next lot of breastfeeding...

Jennster · 23/06/2009 17:05

Hello folks. I've just got drenched marching across the park trying to get home before it rained. Will try more exercise tomorrow!

Belgianchocolates · 23/06/2009 17:34

I think more excercise is the way to go for me. I don't really eat all that much. I think I'll leave the car at the dcs school tomorrow and walk home + walk back to the school in the afternoon. That'll be 4 miles in a day. Not bad

I never gave my stats. I'm 5'10" and 70kg (I think about 11st) I'd like to go down to 10st which I was pre-preg.

ladyhelen2 · 23/06/2009 20:31

belgian {envy} you are the weight I want to be already!! And we're about the same height.
dandy am obviously v blind. Oakcakes. Am kind of glad.never really liked rice cakes. Smell a bit funny.
Have been dead active today. 30 mins on the Wii active, walked to gym, did baby yoga, walked home. When is weigh day, btw?

It is good fun dandy and handy too. It stores my weight loss and takes me through a variety of exercises, but I mainly stick the aerobic activity and yoga. Whilst DS2 is so small and bf its just handy to fit in some exercise at rather than go to the gym.

It tickled me too, twas deliberate! The boxing is OK but my brain can't handle the set routines, but if it could I think it would be quite good. I usually do it after a jog on the spot to keep my heart rate up.

Belgianchocolates · 23/06/2009 23:08

at your wii/wiifit llare. I keep trying to convince dh to get one, but he wont and I haven't got the money myself. They just seem like so much fun.

llareggub · 23/06/2009 23:18

It really is a lot of fun. We were lucky because my old laptop broke and weirdly the insurance gave us more money that we paid for it in vouchers, so I used it to buy the wii, a new DVD recorder, 2 x DS lites (for the suduko!) and a new mac.

The wii really is a load of fun. We played on it at DH's aunt's house at christmas and the youngest player was 5 and the eldest 75, and everybody was able to join in, even without any prior games console experience. And it was very, very funny watching DH's very serious and highpowered uncle hulahooping!

SpangleMaker · 24/06/2009 12:42

I really fancy a wii fit but not sure if I can justify the expense, at least not at the moment (Hobbs sale, Figleaves, haircut & colour - all this week ).

The boxing is really good fun. I shocked everyone at a friend's house by knocking everyone out in the first round, but I had a secret in that an ex used to be a junior amateur boxing champ and one of the few benefits of that relationship was the boxing lessons. Not that I would dare punch anyone in real life but it's great fun and excellent aerobic exercise. Oh, I do want a wii fit now!

FiKelly · 24/06/2009 16:51

I'm hoping my latest discovery is a sign I've lost some more weight.. not going to weigh myself till mon so hoping for a surprise

while g was asleep after vomiting down me I decided to try on my pre g jeans.. couldn't do them up last wk.. but they do now and with only a V tiny muffin top

emmabemmasmom · 25/06/2009 12:00

I have a wii fit, but it probably is not helping me as I have not touched it since I had S. I do find it fun though. Much more fun to laugh my head off watching DH on it though lol

Not doing to great on the diet side of things. I just don't seem to have time to eat during the day so find that I just grab something I can eat quick with one hand and that tends to not be the best of choices.

I have not lost any weight in the last few weeks. I am BF like crazy so I am suprised (even with the weird diet). I thought the scale was stuck but DH got on it last night and no, it is working fine.

to the pre-preg jean people. I have only been able to fit into my bigger more comphy pre-preg jeans but not my normal ones. Well, not without a big muffin top and the inability to breath.

Must eat better, must eat better...
