Definitely a sign Coppertop (a sign that it's time for another choc-ice )

alittlebitshy · 15/06/2009 15:25

Good lord - after a week of being ill (we all (plus another 31 ppl that we know of) got a stomach bug from the food at a christening last sunday) I have my appetitie back and no will power.

hellooooo to kew atc etc

JackieNo · 15/06/2009 17:45

Hello to coppertop and Kewcumber - lovely to see you both.

Kew, I didn't know you had a new job - is it going OK?

Kewcumber · 15/06/2009 19:15

run down on Kewcumber Towers - last 6 months

Work:

Fired lots of people, sold company about to fire myself when I was headhunted. Started new job 1 April (ha ha). Health and wellbeing communications. Going OK so far.

health:

NASTY autoimmune condition in Sept hospitalised for a week, treated with high dose steroids for 3 months, now being monitored. Developed autoimmune condition number around Jan-March - pernicious anaemia so injections for life... autoimmune condition number being looked for based on low iron levels. Nasty tests - results end of this month.

Weight:

Less said the better after the steroids. Have conceded defeat and asked GP to refer me to Bariatric unit - our local one does weight management as well as surgery.

So more to the point - are we meeting up again

Littlefish · 15/06/2009 19:18

Oh yes, let's meet up again! If you remember, dd and I couldn't make the last one (stuck in traffic I think).

We will be in a teeny tiny rented place over the summer so we could do with getting out a bit! Also DH will be playing cricket on Saturdays, so we're pretty free.

We're away for the middle 2 weeks in August, but around apart from that.

JackieNo · 15/06/2009 20:37

Blimey Kew - that's very busy! I remember the autoimmune thing, I think. Sorry to hear it's going to have permanent repercussions . How's your gorgeous DS?

Meeting up would be lovely.

DottyDot · 15/06/2009 22:23

Kew! Nice to see you! The health stuff sounds grim - autoimmune stuff is a right old pain (says she, popping calcium tablets due to osteopenia - latest on the list - but at least I don't have to have injections ).

I'd love to come to a meet up - have been rubbish at coming before. I'm in London most weeks now - is London a possibility?

Meanwhile, I have inexplicably lost 1lb at WW tonight! Don't deserve it so there'll be pay back next week... but it's spurring me on to try to be a bit more WWy this week...

JackieNo · 15/06/2009 22:33

Yay - well done Dotty. I haven't been brave enough to weigh myself for ages .

Kewcumber · 15/06/2009 23:00

Friday or Saturday first week in August is good for me. Happy to host here for a change if people want a more London based venue also happy to travel if better.

Dotty - I'm waiting for biopsy for Coeliac but don;t think I've got it due to no symptoms!

Littlefish · 16/06/2009 08:27

We are off on holiday on 8th August. What dates are you thinking of Kew?

DottyDot · 16/06/2009 09:28

We're on hols for the first 2 weeks in August - not sure what we're doing but we'll be bobbing around camping in various places so later in August would be good for me - sorry...

Kewcumber · 16/06/2009 09:42

How about July - I can do 24/25/26th July. I'm on holiday last two weeks of August too.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/06/2009 09:56

Today we have the structual engineer and the arcitect turning up, keep your fingers crossed that we can take the pillar out of our kitchen.

Littlefish · 16/06/2009 14:28

We're seeing ours on Thursdsay Fivegomad - we want to take out a chimney breast in our kitchen!

I need to check my diary Kew, but I think that weekend is a bit of a nightmare for us.

TigerFeet · 16/06/2009 14:56

I think I'll bow out of a meetup this year, I'm not likely to want to travel too far in August! I'm planning a trip to see friends and family in Lancashire in mid July and after that I'll be staying put. Think of me whilst you're scoffing your cream cakes nice ham

All this talk of strucutal engineers makes me realise that DH's recent overhaul of the bathroom isn't such a big deal after all - but it does look much nicer so DH is currently firmly in the good books. We need to start making room for the baby... We have a spare room but it's currently done out as a guest room with no space for a cot so it will need a complete revamp. Good job newborns don't need much space. I can see this one sleeping with us until it reaches about five years old at this rate!

Kew I'm sorry to hear of all the health issues. Good luck for the results and I hope you don't have to have any more nasty tests, it all sounds rather grim

I am obsessively weighing myself at the moment I'm afraid to say. This morning I was 15st 5lb which is the lightest I've been for quite some time. I lost a lot of weight whilst the hyperemesis was at its height and it has somehow made me very conscious of putting any back on. I'm not deliberately limiting what I eat over and above what the sickness/nausea will let me eat iyswim, somehow even though my diet is crap (lots of carbs, not much fruit or veg) I'm clearly not taking in enough calories to gain weight. I think I am eating like a "normal" person in that I have to stop when I am full and I can't eat unless I am truly hungry. As I'm sure you'll all understand, this is utterly alien to me and something of a novel experience! I eat two or three smallish meals a day plus a couple of snacks. I just hope that this will serve as some sort of training and I won't revert to type once I'm no longer up the duff. Not holding out much hope on that though... Sadly I don't look smaller though thanks to the bump and my humungernormous norks. They all morph into one big blob at the front .

Tiger - sounds like that you are eating very sensibly, I remember weighing myself obsessively when i was pregnant. When are you due? and oh to be 15st something.

well the structural engineer has approved a RSJ so we can get rid of the pillar and the kitchen lady is coming tomorrow. And the architect is putting in for listed building consent.

JackieNo · 16/06/2009 22:25

Tigerfeet - I can quite understand that you don't want to be traipsing all over the place. It does sound as if you're eating well atm.

Fivegomad - that all sounds very positive - exciting times!

DottyDot · 17/06/2009 13:22

Hi all - and can I just say OUCH!!!. Had an orthopaedics appointment today for a crappy shoulder I've got and they gave me a steroid injection in it - OWWWWW..! (I'm not good with pain! ).

Then this afternoon I've had a heart health check now I'm 40+ and the nurse weighed me and gave me what she thought was v. bad news but I was just really chuffed 'cos I'm 12lbs lighter than I was 9 weeks ago! . So she was fairly pleased I'm going to WW and I have to "keep up the good work" of course (which made me want to go straight to the newsagents for a ton of chocolate...).

Ho hum.

I can do Saturday July 25th if others can - or happy to wait until September if that's better?

JackieNo · 17/06/2009 17:56

But you didn't, did you, Dottydot (go to the newsagents for a ton of chocolate) . That's a fantastic result - 12lb in 9 weeks!

DottyDot · 17/06/2009 19:12

Nooooo, but I did have a WW choc. bar (a paultry 1.5 points) and then a small helping of Ben and Jerrys Phish Food ice cream (probably the whole day's points but sod it! ).

FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/06/2009 21:59

Is there a massive meet up on this thread then?

DottyDot · 23/06/2009 12:26

Hello out there!

Only me - v. proud as lost 3.5lb this week, bizarrely, so very near my first (of many ) stone!

So, have been inspired to have a Good Day eating-wise today (no jelly babies so far!).

How's everyone else doing?

Kewcumber · 23/06/2009 12:40

well I have a cold which means I can't taste anything, which of course should stop me eating but...

TigerFeet · 23/06/2009 12:46

Feed a cold, starve a fever Kewc (or is it the other way round???)

Wow Dotty, congratulations on that 3.5lb! keep up with the jelly baby denial

Five for the past couple of years we've all descended on JackieNo's house sometime during the school holidays for a scoff chat. It's lovely to put faces to names.

Isn't the weather fantastic? Unfortunately I'm stuck at work, but I have a day off tomorrow so I intend to make the most of the sunshine. I'll do my best to keep away from the ice cream

JackieNo · 27/06/2009 21:10

Dotty - that's great. Kew - hope you're feeling better now. I do find that not being able to taste things does stop me eating. If you removed my taste buds, I'd probably lose loads of weight .
