Come out, come out, wherever you are

Hmm - today was going fine until someone brought some Jelly Babies into work ...

Will need to factor in about 4 WW points in tonight!

Ah well - how's everyone else doing?

JackieNo · 12/06/2009 18:07

Hmm - about to have basically a fry up for supper, so not great, really. Been OK during the day today (and by OK I just mean I haven't had any chocolate or cakes, not that I've been particularly virtuous in the meals I've eaten). I do reckon that if I can cut out the snacks, it makes me more inclined to be sensible with what I eat at mealtimes - less of the 'Oh well, I've had a Double Decker, I'll give up and eat cr@p for the rest of the day' feeling.

Littlefish · 12/06/2009 18:20

Blardy marvellous to see you all again.

Loads of news for you - sadly, none of it about losing weight!

We are buying the house of my dreams. It's a Georgian Farmhouse in need of complete renovation. We will have to live in a tiny rented house for 6 months while we do it, but then, I will be in heaven! We should complete in about 3 weeks time

I'm hoping the inevitable stress of the renovation will stop me eating, but I fear that the usual comfort eating will happen. I'll have to staple my hands to my knitting needles or sewing machine and keep busy making curtains etc.

JackieNo · 12/06/2009 18:22

Ooh Littlefish - how exciting . Hope it all goes through OK. Maybe you can work off some calories decorating (or building walls or whatever )?

DottyDot · 12/06/2009 19:12

oh wow that sounds amazing Littlefish! Has it all gone through yet - when are you moving? Sounds like a bonkers stressful project..!

We had to live with my Mum for 5 months while we had lots of structural stuff done to our new house last year - but it was only a 3 bed semi! It was worth it though - we knocked a few walls down and removed chimney breasts to create as much space as we could and we love living here The only things left to do now are the loft conversion and the double extension - when I win the lottery, naturally...

Meanwhile, I've just made the infamous 5 minute chocolate cake for the first time -kind of a bit like Pandora's box though... Still, all 4 of us shared it, so not too bad??!

JackieNo · 12/06/2009 19:15

Ha - DottyDot - I just went to the ice cream thread so I could link you to it, but you'd already been there .

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/06/2009 19:16

Hello all

how are you guys doing. Still fat here but no on reductil, which was working well until we went on holiday

Littlefish - that sounds beautiful.

TigerFeet · 12/06/2009 19:18

mmm Jelly Babies... I have a bit of a thing for jelly type sweets atm. Not good, especially because I get fairly strong sugar rushes followed by the inevitable slump.

Wow Littlefish! I'm sending you my very best face across the ether . How exciting, I hope it all goes well.

My meals tend to be reasonably good on the healthy eating front , it's the snacking that's the problem. Like Jackie says, it's far too easy to throw in the towel after one slip up. I made dh a cake for his birthday earlier in the week and ended up eating the majority of it myself. In (sort of) mitigation, it was loaded with butter icing and dd and I covered it in icing to decorate it - dh is diabetic it made his sugar levels go sky high. I completely failed to take that into account when I made it . A subconscious slip up, perhaps???

Hello Five! Lol at "still fat here"

Ice cream thread?

Five minute chocolate cake?

DottyDot · 12/06/2009 19:22

I know - I usually ask dp to make cakes and biscuits with ordinary flour so I can't eat them - much better when I know I just can't! If she makes anything with gluten free flour I have to eat the lot...

Really should have made the 5 minute cake with ordinary flour - am regretting it now (sigh) - never regret it before I eat though...

DottyDot · 12/06/2009 19:23

ahem

Jaquelinehyde · 12/06/2009 19:35

Hi everyone, I was and still am a bigmofo.

My visits to the previous threads were a bit sporadic but I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am to see you all popping back up!

I have slowly krept back up to my old weight and flown straight past it. I stepped on the scales today and all they do is show the error messgae because I have passed their maximum weight limit.

I'm off tomorrow to buy some heavy duty Drs scales so there is no doubting my results. I shall be cracking on with the weight loss as of Monday.

DP and I want to start trying for a baby in 3-4 months so I need to drop a good few stone if that dream is to be even a slightest possibility.

Littlefish I am v.v.v. sounds wonderful.

Such a shame that WWB is still MIA, I for one would love to see her back.

Jaquelinehyde · 12/06/2009 19:36

sorry crept not krept

Littlefish · 12/06/2009 21:24

Dottydot - it is a completely bonkers project!

I will put a couple of photos on my profile once we've completed. Things are a bit slow at the moment as the solicitors are having to create title deeds, register land and access etc.

Our basic list of work is:

New roof (and re-build chimneys)
New floors
New ceilings
New guttering
New windows
Damp proof course
Septic tank system & drainage
Full plumbing
Re-wire whole house
Knock down 4 walls
New kitchen
New bathrooms
New utility room
Small extension for a "boot room" (am V V excited about this!)

Anyone seen Kew recently? I haven't seen her on any threads for aaaaaaaages.

We hope it will all take about 6 months of builders time.

DottyDot · 12/06/2009 21:49

oh my lord..!! It'll be amazing when it's done - and I loved the fact that we saw more or less every brick and floorboard in our house and know our house inside out - literally!

Mind you, since we've moved in we've not done a single thing and there were about 3 million things outstanding to do - but hey, since when did kitchens really need tiles..?!

Have finally stopped eating today - had a good start but not such a good finish...

Watching Outnumbered at the moment - just brilliant!

JackieNo · 12/06/2009 22:07

Blimey Littlefish - that's a whole lot of building . I'm very of your future bootroom.

Jacquelinehyde - good to see you back too .

TigerFeet · 13/06/2009 09:47

Littlefish, have you been in touch with Kevin McCloud [swoon]?

I had fruit for breakfast Halo. It can only go downhill from here

OP posts:
FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/06/2009 13:10

Littlefish, we can compare notes then, we have to do this year, our bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, possibly utility room, convert a coach house into 2 ensuite bedrooms for B&B guests, remove 2 hedges rebuild as walls and then pave the courtyard which at the moment is gravel, gut the garden to make it lower maintenance, and if the budget allows build a natural swimming pond at the bottom of the garden.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/06/2009 13:11

And bacon sandwich fro me but was late so will double up for lunch aswell.

Littlefish · 13/06/2009 13:28

FiveGoMad - that sounds fantastic - tell me more about the natural swimming pond!

Tigerfeet - I fear that even though it's the most ridiculous project in the world (for us at least, as complete novices!), Mr McCloud would not be interested . It might be worth a phone call though, just in case he fancies coming to have a look. I would, of course, need to be on hand to show him around and offer him home-made farmhouse style cakes (complete with fresh cream).

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/06/2009 18:46

Natural swimming ponds can be any shape you want to fit in with your landscape, are constructed of blocks and concrete and then a pond area is constructed around the outside and planted which helps with the filtration and cleaning of the water, there is also a small pump to help circulate the water, you can heat them or use chemicals and attracts wildlife so a lovely place to sit by as well. Hopefully this link has worked. www.fivevalleysnaturalpools.co.uk/gallery

JackieNo · 14/06/2009 21:18

FiveGoMad - you're as mad as Littlefish . But it'll be lovely once it's done . The natural swimming pond sounds fantastic.

Kewcumber · 15/06/2009 11:35

Mwah mwah mwah - I've missed you all!

Littlefish · 15/06/2009 14:06

Hoooooooray! You found us.

How are you - haven't seen you much on the boards lately. How is your new job going?

coppertop · 15/06/2009 14:13

I was just finishing off a choc-ice when I saw this thread in Active Convos. Do you think it's a sign?

It's great to see so many MoFo's here.
