Back from 2 week holiday, only put on 1 lb, been eating loads of veg and fruit and avoiding bad stuff since i got back but put on 2 lbs, might as well eat choc and crisps!!! i know how to loose weight, eat less calories than I'm burning but so far it's not working. Feeling a bit disillusioned with dieting! On the plus side I do feel quite healthy.

LovingTheRain · 02/07/2009 17:41

scodgie - I can understand why.At my slimming club, we don't do 'diets' nor say the word! It's banned from it's meaning of being on a diet.
The word 'diet' for the slimming club i am at means:
Dare I Eat That

I have been on loads of diets before and always failed as i hate to feel like i am being deprived of anything!

Slimming World is fab as i can eat what i like from their free foods (including pasta, lean meat, poultry, rice, veg, fruit etc)

and have syns each day too

I need to confess as feeling guilty!!!

Today i had some cheese and onion crisps while at a friend's for lunch. They were in a bowl and were those really posh ones. I couldn't resist. I know i didn't eat too many but the guilt is getting to me I also ate two borders biscuits which were 8 syns. I am not over on my allowance i don't think but feeling

Sorry to hear your finding things hard LRT can I join the club. I'm seen to feel hungry all the time (was managing much better) and my scales have gone crazy so not really sure if I'm losing of gaining. Add that to dd with her fractured elbow which I'm worried about because I don't know what they plan to do about it till Monday.

Had weekend nicely planned with swimming today and long bike ride tomorrow (both exercises dd loves) to get my exercise but that's out the window as her arm in a plaster splint.

Sorry about the moan feel much better.
Positive now for LTR you can do it you did so well last week so you know you can. When I feel tempted I try and picture of me slim and remember why I'm on the diet and what I have achieved so far.

LovingTheRain · 04/07/2009 14:15

I have used up all my suns for today. Now have to eat free food the rest of the day and no idea what to have.

paranoidmother · 06/07/2009 23:09

Ok well I have done exercise today but the weekend went to pot. Fell over on saturday and hurt my ankle so then didn't do anything for the rest of the weekend apart from use it as an excuse not to exercise.

Sorry to hear about your DD lexcat and just starting the hols to, so not fair.

My downfall will be after tomorrow when i'm making food to take away with us on holiday and it'll all be moreish and snackish.

DD ok after all just a bad sprain of the elbow she's a little sore but recovering fast.

Scales still playing up a bit but have worked out where to stand on them to get consistent readings. I also can make it read so 6lbs lighter. So not really sure where I am as last weeks reading I wasn't sure about.

My total aim is to lose at least 3 stone including the 1 i've already done by November and then lose another 3 stone by April.

paranoidmother · 09/07/2009 10:25

I'm away for the next week so my aim is to not put any weight on whilst away.

Ner1993 · 10/07/2009 11:57

We are doing well girls!

I have to confess I had a rubbish day yesterday. I just had one of those frustrating hungry days! Although I didn't have anything particularly bad I ate a lot and I mean a lot. Felt completely terrible afterwards so much so that I actually contemplated taking laxitives - I am ashamed to say but I didn't and I have thought today is a new start - so far so good! Arragh why is it so hard?!!!

scodgie · 13/07/2009 17:21

Hi! I'm back again. This is a lousy excuse, and I'm so aware that it is just that, but I'm moving house at the end of the month so new regime will start then, I promise. Hope you will all still be here though! I'm quite happy though as I haven't gained anything. Will keep an eye on this thread and join you all again 1st Aug x

LovingTheRain · 13/07/2009 19:19

Look forward to having you back with us Sodgie. Hope the move goes okay

Ner - we all have days like that, don't worry or feel guilty as it is allowed! Welldone for getting back on track today.

I have promised the DCs we can make cakes after my weigh in on wednesday. (It's what is keeping me going and not eating it now).

Maybe having something to look forward to snack wise may help us to not snack if we tell ourselves, we can have X on X day etc

Had a terrible week just wanting to eat everything, just started period so am aware it was my pre period munchies as I call it. Constant hunger for anything from 1-2 days up to a week pre-period. I've had a hectic week so just didn't have the will power to fight back so have got in to some of my old eating habits. Up 3lbs

It about what I expected as I knew it couldn't be a loss. Started back today not been brilliant but will try this week to get back on track but again got fairly hectic week again (high stress) always end up finding comfort in food.

LovingTheRain · 15/07/2009 20:57

Welldone for getting back on track lexcat. I know what you mean about finding comfort in food. Not sure if this would help you but had an idea (don't feel you have to as for some people it doesn't help) if you ever feel like you want to eat food for comfort, you could email me and write down your feelings etc instead of turning to food. I am still learning about not turning to food for comfort myself but am getting there If you fancy it, i'll give you my email address

lexcat · 15/07/2009 22:04

Thanks LTR that's so kind of you but for me it really is about breaking life long habits. I'm only to aware it's taken me some 20 years to get the size I am now (plus 1 child), so I know it not going to happen over night.

I'm still feeling positive loving the idea of the new me. Plus I'm working on the slower the weight goes the less likely it will return in a hurry.

I have enjoyed falling off the wagon as did eat somethings I've been trying to avoid. It's not all negative it's made me really think about what I eat now and where I was going wrong.

LovingTheRain · 16/07/2009 08:15

No worries, I always sometimes enjoy falling off the wasgon and eating what I like. Helps me focus when I am back on track to think I am not depriving myself of anything!

Something that's really helping me is the 'before' pictures DH took for me. I am wearing a bikini so that I can see all my fat and each time I look at it I think, 'I am never going back to that!'

When i'm slim i'll put them on my profile (not that anyone will want to see but it will help me never to go abck to it if I know that I might be seen by others!)

rosieposey · 16/07/2009 10:07

Hi all Hope you dont mind me joining your inspirational thread! I have read most of your pages from the beginning and i have 7 stone to loose (although id be happy with 5 ).

Have started slimming world today too LTR as i need to be able to eat plenty of the right sort of stuff and WW just encourages me to eat crap and use up all my points by lunchtime

I have 3 teenage girls and a 5 month old boy - am loving this baby stuff again even though i have been away from it for quite a while so wouldnt actually mind giving my son another sibling next year but i have been left with diabetes after this last pregnancy (had gestational diabetes in all my pregnancies) so i HAVE to loose weight and get healthy if im even going to consider doing it again. Am now at the heaviest i have ever been (apart from actually being pregnant) and really think that its important at the grand old age of 37 to sort out my weight at long last.

You all seem to be doing really well and i have enjoyed reading about your progress, will hopefully add mine now and in just a matter of months will be on my way to being healthier again.

LovingTheRain · 16/07/2009 15:24

Welcome rosieposey, good to have you on board

Are you following Extra Easy? I love it and find it fits really well with family life at the DCs and DH can eat the same as me

How are you finding it so far?

OP posts:
rosieposey · 16/07/2009 17:59

Hmm well i was doing red and green days but am thinking that i might go down the route of EE simply because i have to make separate stuff for the family otherwise ... Not really sure what to do about my syns either - i was going to go on 15 a week this week but am hoping for a decent loss so maybe 10, what do you think? (Am not a member as have a couple of copies of the book and thought i might do it from home ).
