excellent news jammy, bloody well done

I have stayed the same again this week, but I suppose sharing a bottle of wine every night with DM on holiday, and not following SW to the letter, it is to be expected. Bought a SW cookbook today from a charity shop, and tons of fruit from Asda, so will be trying very hard again from tomorrow.

I resisted buying a gorgeous white linen dress in a size 24 in another charity shop, because I thought it was too casual for the wedding (but apparently it is going to be quite casual), and also I plan to be wearing a smaller size by September.

Hopefully witht he job and hospital, all will fall into place and I will find food easier to control.

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say hi. Well done on the losses - seems like you're starting to kick butt! Still no weight loss here, but then i've been stuffing my face and drinking wine so it's to be expected really! I'm surprised i've not put on, but i've just stayed the same (phew!). Just goes to show that if i really tried hard with my eating i could actually lose some weight, especially as i'm exercising too!

I have to confess i had a cry at the gym on Monday morning . I was doing a step class and this particular class is quite a fast paced class. Anyway, five minutes before the end of the class, she changes her music and puts on music that's really really fast - kinda hardcore speed almost - just as a last blast i suppose. Anyway, the music came on and i just couldn't physically keep up. I found it really hard to move that fast as i'm so big and i just wanted to burst into tears with embarrassment!! In the end and as i was right next to the door, i just slipped out as i didn't want to stand there like a lemon while everyone was thrashing about on the step! I have to say tho, having done an aerobics instructor's course myself, the speed of her music combined with her moves was quite dangerous! My tutor would have been shocked! It just annoys me how alot of instructors dont cater for EVERYONE, even tho they say they are multi-level classes. I mean dont get me wrong, i'm not expecting special treatment that holds the class up or slows it down etc, but i was taught to always offer alternative moves, especially if there is someone in the class who you think might struggle with the advanced moves.

Right, soap box moment over now!!

I'm getting fed up with this gyming and stuffing my face lark. Time to get a grip with the food so that my gym will actually pay off!

Have a lovely weekend ladies

Hello folks.i haven't posted for a while as I have fallen off the wagon big style. It all startedv when I bough a new pair of scales whaich weighed me 6 lbs heavier than the old dodgy ones .Just got really fed up and ended up putting on 4lbs.
Then last week we went on holiday to Austria .We had a continental breakfast every day ,coffee and cake for lunch and a 4 course meal in the evening. But we did lots of walking ,cycling and ,swimming and have lost 3 lbs.So I am back into it again now.
I've been to the gym this morning, first time for about 3 weeks.DD1 does a 1.5 hour gymnastics lesson at the same place so I have time to do 45 minutes or so and still get to watch her a bit.DD2 does gymnastics on Tuesday so will do the same thing then (although it's really hard to tear myself away from watching.4 yr olds doing gymnastics are just so darned cute !)
I hope everyone else has been doing a bit better than me !

Rialentless · 06/06/2009 20:18

hi Katie, good to have you back.

Think DH might end up in hospital again quite quickly - am going to fecking kill him soon

did you see in the TV guide Stephen Fry has lost over 5 stone? I love him!

off the wagon big time here too. have cakes to bake for church tomorrow, but back to it Monday...

Rialentless · 08/06/2009 07:57

Monday dawns...

stupidly yesterday I bought some cut-price items in breadcrumbs from the shop (kiev, fish etc), I also have a packet of thai sweet chilli sensations, half a tub of garlic dip and a bottle of wine. Not to mention half a supremely delicious homemade chocolate cake...

do you think it would be pretty pointless boarding the SW wagon today? Shall I just wait til weigh-in tomorrow and start again with my massive gain?

I need to do sometjing about exercise, but I have a weeks worth of OU work to catch up on before Thursday, and I haven't even opened the book yet

so tired...

Rialentless · 09/06/2009 09:26

woo hoo! all hail Gary Linekar

RGPargy · 09/06/2009 20:48

What did Gary Linekar do??

Went to the gym yesterday and did bodypump and my oh my are my quads aching today!!

Didn't manage to get to the gym today tho as DD was up in the middle of night for 1.5 hours and then was jumping around on our bed at 5am! Thankfully she went back to sleep again but we didn't wake up until about 9am so that put me out of going - plus i was toooo knackered. I've booked into the step class tomorrow tho, which i'm really looking forward to.

OP posts:
Rialentless · 09/06/2009 21:23

not really due to him, but over the last week I have eaten my body-weight in Walkers sensations (get the link?) and I have lost a pound.

I always knew he loved me really

well done on the exercise. I was going to salsacize tonight, but have been half-heartedly studying my OU stuff instead. I plan a walk for tomrrow though.

RGPargy · 09/06/2009 21:50

Ah yes, i get you now! I like Walkers Sensations but they do get boring after a while lol. Well done on the loss!!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 09/06/2009 22:23

hopefully I'm bored now then!

RGPargy · 13/06/2009 21:39

Evening ladies!!

How are we all doing? Still in the land of fatness here, but i've got no one to blame but myself!

I met my friend for lunch on Friday and he has lost 6 STONE!!!!! When i first saw him, i didn't think it was him because he was so thin and young looking!! I swear he looks about 10 years younger than the last time i saw him (about 5 years ago!). He had given up smoking 4 years ago and is now running about 10k every day. I'm really surprised at how young he looks, considering he is in a high powered City job!! He has spurred me on to do something about my weight for definite. I want to look younger too and i'm paranoid that i'm now looking my age whereas in my slim days i could get away with looking nearly 10 years younger than my years too!

Back on the wagon on Monday i think!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 14/06/2009 17:22

what is his secret RG?

Had a bad weekend here - had friends over for a BBQ on Friday and drank far too much (which was stupid because she is not a nice person when she is drunk and it spoilt it a bit) I was really good with the food though, planned a SW red day, and I only had a few crisps and an extra wholemeal roll that I shouldn't have had. Yesterday went badly because of the hangover and today was picnic day - I did have wholemeal tuna and salad rolls, but I had crisps and chocolate cake, and as DH has gone out I went to egt a curry for 2 for supper.

I am going to steal the TV times of DM tonight and read the Stephen Fry article.

Also, BIL is turning his garage into a gym and he and Dsis are going on a "health kick" which means she'll get all competitive again, so I need to keep one step ahead! I know this makes me a bad person (or just as bad as she is) but she has mentioned how she's bought a couple of pairs of trousers in a size 26 - I have a couple of pairs upstairs that are now too big (they always were unless they were freshly washed TBH, but they were £1 in the charity shop), and a pair that she gave me last year (that were always too big too, but beggars can't be choosers). Can I give her them back??? Please. (DH said I could but she would make a big point of giving them back to me in a couple of weeks!)

Sorry for long post, am lonely.

So, new week, new start then?

Jammy has gone on holiday - hope she's having a good time

Rialentless · 16/06/2009 09:57

braved the scales this morning. 1lb off (although if I stepped on with the other foot first it was 3lb off)

anyway, that is a stone since I was in denial weighed in at my heaviest

goal for this week, BE GOOD everyday except Friday (DS3s birthday so maybe cake?) and Sunday (DS3s planned celebration picnic and our wedding anniversary) and do some more exercise.

RGPargy · 16/06/2009 19:49

Glad you had a nice BBQ Ria, shame there's always one that spoils it tho isn't it. Well done on being so restrained. I wouldn't have been!

Do you think that Dsis and BIL's health kick will keep you in check then? It might be just what you need to get you motivated.

Well done on the loss!!! That's brilliant!!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 17/06/2009 23:51

nope, I think dsis will get competitive like she usually does and make me feel like crap.

bad day yesterday and today - DS2 poorly. He looked really rough when he came out of school, fell asleep on the sofa, boiling to touch... threw up late on. GP this morning - tonsilitis (again), so have had a couple of toasties more than I should have, couldn't get out for a decent walk today either.

But have meal-planned for tomorrow and Friday, and written a shopping list for Friday.

My motivation is that I've actually lost something. It's a hell of a lot easier to stick to it when you know it's working.

RGPargy · 18/06/2009 19:44

Try not to let her get to you. You have to do it at your pace and at a pace that you know works for you! Poor DS2. Hope he feels better soon. I've had tonsilitis lots too so i sympathise with him.

Went to the gym yesterday and did the step class. I think i've got a cold coming tho and i really felt it through lack of energy. I was quite annoyed as i was standing right under the aircon too so i shouldn't have had any excuse of getting too hot either. Still feel a little bit rough around the edges with a little cough coming on, but i will keep up with the exercise because if i stop now, it might just be the breaking of the zone i'm in. I've booked myself in for the step class and something called hulaerobics which is apparently just exercising with a hula hoop. I've never been before so it should be interesting! DD is going to MIL so i can have a worry free/creche free day at the gym. I'm really looking forward to it, the saddo that i am!!

Day 4 of no booze! I am truly ill, i swear it.

OP posts:
Rialentless · 18/06/2009 21:50

don't overdo it though RG, you don't want to knock yourself out completely. Take care.

I was having such a good day today - indulgent SW brunch, then masses of cleaning that gave me a bit of an adrenalin rush, so wasn't hungry or organised at tea time so didn't eat. Now DS3 won't sleep and I am starving and have had crisps and a kitkat

and I am no longer making a canal boat shaped birthday cake as there are no takers (dsis and the kids mainly) for my planned birthday picnic tomorrow. So we will probably go to McDs (for the big kids) and then take ordinary round chocolate cake to the grandparents after tea. Am hoping to have a belated birthday picnic at the forestry with the grandparents on Sunday, and celebrate fathers day and WA all in one

Can't believe my baby is 2 already, this time 2 years ago I believe I was in bed wondering why he hadn't been early like the other 2 (he was born on his EDD). Think I may drink too much tonight

RGPargy · 19/06/2009 22:59

I cant believe you had no takers for a picnic!!! Happy birthday to your DS!! Hope he had a brilliant day. What did you do in the end? Did you end up having too much booze??

I had a fab relaxing (!!) day at the gym today. I started off by doing a step class with an instructor i'd never met before. I knew it was a more basic class but i wasn't put off because sometimes less is more in terms of fancy footwork and a step, if you know what i mean! Anyway after the class, the instructor came up to me and said "ooo you did really well!! You can tell you're a stepper, you were brilliant!!". It does make me laugh tho - i do think that the instructors take one look at me and assume i'm a complete novice at step as now 3 instructors have told me that i have done "really well" after the class, obviously not anticipating that i've been doing step on and off for some 15 years...... ;)

Anyway, after that i did Hulaerobics. Well, i didn't actually "do" the hulaerobics. I just spent the entire 40 minutes throwing the hoop round my waist, wiggling for about the count of 1 or 2 seconds before picking the hoop off the floor. Seriously, i spent the whole time doing that lol. I didn't care tho, i was having fun trying to hula. I remember doing it as a child but perhaps i was one of these deluded kids that always thought they could do it but actually couldn't even do one rotation!!

Day number 5 of no booze here!

Sorry for the ramble!!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 19/06/2009 23:34

I am having a rambling evening too.

Am having wine now and about to have pitta and low fat houmous.

I decided on party tea with proper half bread bun sandwiches with potted meat etc. (Didn't invite my parents even though they would have happily come as it meant too much tidying). DS3 slept through it (very tiring being the birthday boy) and DH went to bed around 12.30 when we got in from town and was still in bed when DS2&3 and I took the cake to my parents house around 7pm (when DS3 woke up) (DH is on a lot of meds and I think he either took the wrong one at the wrong time, or he has a build up that's catching up with him). DS1 ate his tea and ran as it was youth group. So am a bit that it was a non-event, and so ate far too much. No chocolate trifle though as it looks grim, and only a tiny piece of birthday cake (surprisingly nice, even though DS2 made the ganache)

Hopefully we are going for a picnic with my parents (and DH if he is awake!) in the forestry on Sunday, and will go walking if DS2 is up to it.

I could never hula. I find step really disorientating too. I seriously need to up the exercise, I've hardly been for a walk this week.

I bought a gorgeous denim jacket today (soft denim and cut like a suit jacket rather than a peroper denim jacket). It was on the sale rail in a charity shop (still £4 though), it is a tad tight, so I am setting a mini-goal of it fitting nicely. And it's so tidy I can even wear it to the wedding we're going to (over a nice outift, not with my jeans!) says Amelie May in the label, can't work out where that's from.

RGPargy · 20/06/2009 22:49

Well, i've only had a glass of cider tonight. I was allowing myself some wine too but that never happened, mainly because i've been left alone in the front room while DP is in the conservatory on his music making PC. I cant be bothered to open the wine just for me so maybe i'll have some tomorrow. Rant over lol.

What is a half bread bun sandwich and what on earth is potted meat??? Not sure if that sounds very appetising or not!!

Hope you end up having a nice picnic on Sunday instead.

I had a quick google on Amelie May and it turns out that it's an Etam own brand.

OP posts:
Rialentless · 20/06/2009 23:13

does Etam still exist? Ours closed and was relapced with a thin persons shop. I had a look on google last night and came up with BHS, so Etam is fine 'tis very nice any way, and not what I would normally buy.

half bread bun sandwich is basically an open sandwich (but as there was no salad or anything I didn't think it warranted such a posh name!) - when I was little it was finger buns that I used to make my mum get for my tea parties, potted meat is beef spread here.. also a relic from childhood - my gran used to buy it when she used to take me on picnics (we used to walk to the beach - it's miles away!) TBH the kids hated it! (is it not avilable "down south" then?)

well done on the drinking. TBH I probably would have opened the bottle and drunk the lot, I have pretty much blown it this weekend. I only have myself ot blame though. I have the self-control of a vulture!

RGPargy · 20/06/2009 23:31

Dont think Etam does exist actually! I think the reference to BHS was because BHS owned Etam or bought them out or something??? Anyway, it's irrelevant because you like it and it was very bargainous so that's all that matters!

OMG, that potted meat looks absolutely disgusting!! No, it's not available darn sarrrf (thankfully!). We do have stuff like the Shipphams paste etc but i wouldn't touch that with a barge pole either (i'm so fussy!).

Last week i probably would have had the whole lot too but something seems to have clicked this week and it's definitely helping going to the gym - BIG time!!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 22/06/2009 22:35

well done RG (yes I am FB stalking you)

have you just given up during the week? If it's going to lose me 5lb maybe I could give up a bit

after tomorrow I am going to give myself a huge kick and get on with it.

RGPargy · 23/06/2009 22:20

Thanx Ria

Yes, just during the week is my intention. So monday - Friday i will not drink and then SAturday and Sunday i will allow myself a couple of drinks. On Saturday i had a pint of low cal cider and then on sunday i had a 1/4 of a pint of cider too. Then oopsie, i had 1/2 bottle of wine last night, but only because it was in the fridge from the weekend and we'd not drunk it in time (). Today i've not had any booze tho and even refused some when DP brought some back from the shop earlier.

I think once you get into the swing of not drinking, you dont really WANT to drink because you dont want to undo the hard work you've been doing all week. That's how it works for me anyway ;) I have to admit that i've been really good with my food too by just watching what i'm eating and not doing hardly any crappage eating so it's probably a combination of both that made me lose 5lb (plus TOM?!).

Good luck for tomorrow! Come on, you can do it!!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 23/06/2009 22:53

2lb on, but my own fault.
