Katie - If you're doing weights now then yes, you will probably gain, couple of course with your TOM. I think it puts alot of people off doing weights when they gain at first. It doesn't take long for it to disappear tho!

Jammy - well done on avoiding the cake! Not sure i would have done!

just watched this (sorry to repeat myself jammy)

very interesting. shame she didn't find the answer though.

crap night here, feeling sorry for myself so over-indulged and now feel sick, serves me right.

no goals for this week other than achieve something

Rialentless · 12/05/2009 22:28

having a good day here for once, been really good foodwise, and have walked loads (even if only as DS3 speed/ambling along with the pushchair)

as it was only 2 weeks til my holiday I decided to do SW for the 2 weeks, as I can usually just about stick to it for 2 weeks, and I usually get a good result to being with. Unfortunately my holiday plans might have changed, but I'll try and stick to the "two week challenge"

hope everyone is OK. Don't work too hard Jammy!

RGPargy · 12/05/2009 23:12

Well done Ria!! Couldn't get to the gym today because DS was waiting on a phone call about work which meant he would have been leaving there and then so we couldn't risk leaving DD with him in case he got the call. Unfortunately the call never came (ggrrr) till much much later so i stayed at home for nothing. Step class tomorrow tho!

Where is everyone?

OP posts:
Rialentless · 15/05/2009 23:24

Did you enjoy step class RG?

I have been angelic with food until today. Have had crap week and just felt I needed a treat

but, the little ones were in bed and fast asleep by 7pm tonight, so I had maybe 1 1/2 hours walk on a bridleway out side the village, and did a couple of very short jogs.Stood on a massive thorn though, that went through my crocs (walk off-road was spur of the moment) and into my foot, felt like it was going to come out the top. So have had wine to numb pain not touched by TCP.

Back to it tomorrow though (apart from bag of doritos to be shared between tomorrow and Sunday - it is the weekend)

RGPargy · 15/05/2009 23:56

Well done on being good Ria! That's more than i have been!

the step class was good, although i felt knackered right towards the end and started to lose concentration lol.

How's your foot now? Sounds uber painful! Hope it gets better soon!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 16/05/2009 22:00

foot still a bit lot sore
I was going to walk with the boys across the fields to town, but it rained

food gone by the wayside today too TOM again

I always found step a bit disorientating (is that a word?)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/05/2009 19:02

Hi ladies. I didn't abandon you. But I had 4 days in London helping the fight against swine flu, and ILs have been here for the weekend (still are in fact) so have been trying not to be too rude and ignore them too much.

Ouch for your foot Ria (I guess that is what was bothering you over on our other thread, that I failed to spot? ) but well done for the long walk. I walked a fair bit while away, as I had the mornings free (worked 2pm till 9 or 10 each evening). Unfortunately I didn't know the hotel we were in had a pool and gym otherwise I'd have taken kit along and spent half of each morning exercising But walking better than nothing. And I tried not to overdo it on the food, though had cereal and fruit and pastries and cheese and ham and full english and toast etc etc etc available each morning and dinner was provided from work so was a bit difficult to tell what was in it. But I only had cooked breakfast one day and tried to have lots of salads and just a little of the main meal each evening, and got my lunches from M&S or Boots where I could read the labels and pick low-fat/low-cal sandwiches. And I nicked a piece of fruit from the lunch leftovers, and had that instead of the (incredibly yummy looking) biscuits they brought out mid-afternoon. I appear to have lost another 2lb this week, so it must have worked

Went to pizza express for lunch today though . But went easy on the starters, shared my pizza with DD, and then left some when I was feeling full, and shared frozen yogurt with DD for pudding. So again, could have been a lot worse. And salad for tea Will try to get back into proper exercise etc tomorrow.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/05/2009 19:02

Oooooh, sorry for that mini-novel there!

Rialentless · 17/05/2009 21:46

you sound like you were very restrained jammy, though shame you didn't know about the facilities. One success story from an old diet mag has always stuck in my mind, about someone working for DEFRA who was stuck in a hotel for weeks working on foot and mouth, and she used the treadmill in the gym to relieve her stress levels.

I went to the GP om Friday with my mutant skin tag, and got in such a tizzy in the waiting room that I bit the bullet and mentioned that my anxiety has been a bit silly just recently. ANd so am back on sertraline (because it is the last thing I was prescribed, and I couldn't remember if it had worked or not, so said I thought it had), the side effects are not nice though

but on the plus side, I have felt so rough today that I've eaten very little and haven't been tempted to snack

Rialentless · 18/05/2009 22:09

just having a small glass of wine (DH put the other small glass in the "diet" beef stroganoff - bloody chefs haven't a clue!)

Am trying hard to be good as it's weigh-in tomorrow and would love a result as I've been pretty good for most of the week >

Rialentless · 19/05/2009 10:49

woohoo!

lost 5lb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and am now in the next stone bracket down

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/05/2009 20:37

That's fabulous Ria!!!

I had a Marathon (aka Snickers Bar) today

RGPargy · 19/05/2009 21:43

Well done for being so restrained Jammy!

Ria - woohoo!! what a great loss and well done on getting to the next stone bracket down!!

I suppose i really should try and sort my (bad) eating habits out. It's all very well me doing all this gyming but i need to stop shovelling crap into my gob in order for it to actually have any effect on me!

OP posts:
Rialentless · 19/05/2009 21:58

you will tone up though RG. I read somewhere that most dieters fail because they take on too much pressure with new eating regime and new exercise regime all at once, so it is probably sensible to sort one area out until your comfortable with it, then tackle the other area

I am having pizza tonight as my weigh-in treat. It is a frozen one cos DH not coming home, so not passing morrisons for a fresh one. Also having a glass of wine, but as it really doesn't mix with the ADs, it'll only be one, maybe 1 1/2.

All I can think about is how I'm going to stick to it til next week I REALLY want to, but have usually failed by now, so it's new ground for me on this weight-loss journey Also, I really want to add in some serious exercise (DS3 scuppered that for me tonight by only just going to sleep) other than walking, but don't know what/when.

yum on the marathon jammy. when I was little DM used to buy a giant one and cut it into 3 for me, her and my dad! I think they still share a normal sized one from time to time, which is weird cos DF doesn't like peanuts and DM doesnt like chocolate

RGPargy · 19/05/2009 23:10

Yeah i guess so Ria. You are probably right.

How was your pizza? We had pizza tonight too. Only a frozen goodfellas cheese one which we added mushrooms and onions too, and i have to say it was loooovely! Also had a large bottle of Woodys Pink Grapefruit alcopop. Think the booze is the one area that i really should tackle too. Mid-week boozing just does me no favours whatsoever!

Ria try not to think of your next challenge as another week. Just take each day as it comes and deal with each day one at a time. If you did it this week then you can deffo do it next week too. Be strong!!

As for exercising, can you not grab yourself an exercise DVD from the library for a week or two and jump about to it when you get a spare (!!) 30 mins or so??

Talking of Marathons, when i was little my DM used to cut up a normal sized Mars Bar (they didn't have King Size way back then!) and share it between 5 of us!! We only got a little bit each but it made it all the more tasty! hehe!!

Right, off to bed now. Night all! xx

Rialentless · 20/05/2009 17:28

darn it, just ate a scone. It wasn't even nice.

RGPargy · 20/05/2009 20:55

Oh buggerations Ria. I hate it when that happens!

Went to the gym today and did my step class. I was ok until about the last 15 minutes when i really struggled to keep up aerobically. However the plus side of it was that after the class the instructor came over to me and told me that i was doing really really well (it's only my 3rd week doing her class). We had a brief chat tho and i came away feeling quite chuffed with myself!

Work tomorrow. Boo Hiss.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 20/05/2009 21:49

Well done on the class RG. I did my 3 circuits at the gym this morning and decided I'm getting a bit bored. So I have an appointment with an instructor on Saturday to look at changing my program a bit. Felt really good after the gym, but ate too much lunch

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 07:50

no exercise for me yesterday, with DS2being home

apart from the scone didn't do too bad food-wise (though did have an extra roast potato, though they were done with fry lite, and it was a green day, so it should be OK), and the scone was my lunch, rather than an extra so fingers crossed!

well done on all this exercise though you two

RGPargy · 21/05/2009 12:26

Wow you two are being so good with your food! You're positively putting me to shame! Well done!

Still, i plan to start pulling in the belt a bit (as it were) with regard to food from next week. Will also knock the mid-week drinking on the head too (again lol).

OP posts:
Rialentless · 21/05/2009 21:05

Not been so good tonight DS2 had a friend over for tea so I made homemade pizza bases and they topped their own. I ate half of DS3s, and a few leftovers, but it was low fat cheese and lots of veg so not too bad, and if I count that as my tea and a HEB ... might just have to have a little slice of toast before bed

no exercise though except the school run twice.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/05/2009 22:01

Not very good food wise here today. Too much stress made me turn to choccie biscuits

Rialentless · 23/05/2009 08:32

I had biscuits yesterday too
