much better today (tis daylight so I can see the keyboard)

sensible breakfast of beans on multigrain toast & orange juice

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/05/2009 17:05

Your breakfast sounds good Ria. I had toast. And a small portion of cauliflower cheese and peas at the childrens centre for lunch. I tried to scrape off the cheese sauce though, and left the mash accompaniament as I saw them put loads of cheap margarine butter in.

Rialentless · 06/05/2009 21:43

DH claims I cannot be humgry because we only had tea a short whole ago. True, I am not hungry. I am STARVING!

RGPargy · 06/05/2009 22:26

Went to the gym again today and did another step class (second one this week!). It knackered me out a bit because i'm so unfit but i suppose that's the whole idea isn't it?

The instructor was a bit better than Monday's instructor, as far as teaching techniques go but the pace was slightly slower too (Mondays was incredibly fast!). This one had lots of twists and turns in it tho which isn't great for your knees, especially if you dont turn properly as you can end up spraining your joints. I an aerobics instructor course about 10 years or so ago and this is how i know all this stuff. Yes really - i did!!!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/05/2009 12:18

Well I seem to have managed to control myself with just an extra slice of bread (with PB&J though ) and some low fat hot choc. Fingers crossed it lasts!

Rialentless · 07/05/2009 12:24

ah, it's toastie time

I'm not very good at this

DH is out again tonight (investors dinner tonight) so I am having wine, pizza and chocolate I will need it after another night on my own with the boys. Though we will go for a walk or I'll do a DVD if I get them to bed early.

RGPargy · 07/05/2009 12:24

Well done jammy!!

Go Ahead Wholemeal Fruit Bake
Go Ahead Wholemeal biscuit things

2 Satsumas

and for breakfast i had a muller light with a mini pack of Fruit and Fibre plonked into it. Yummy!!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/05/2009 12:45

Sounds good RG. Where do you work/what do you do? (Sorry, being nosey!)

RGPargy · 07/05/2009 12:48

Work up in London (yuk) as a legal secretary (zzzzz) but thankfully only 2 days a week (yayness!). What about you?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/05/2009 12:53

I work for the Health Protection Agency, as a scientist in Radiation Protection. I work 2.5 days a week, but only 2 days in the office, the rest is done at home split over a couple of evenings Got to go into London next week though to help with the swine flu thing (not that I know anything about infectious diseases!!)

RGPargy · 07/05/2009 13:08

Oooo your job sounds interesting! Not sure i envy you coming up to smelly old London tho! especially having to deal with the swine flu!

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/05/2009 22:03

Well hopefully I won't come into any contact with the swine flu. I think I'm likely to just be a glorified dogsbody, taking minutes in meetings, making phone calls etc.

Had a hair cut tonight and am booked into the gym (Well technically I don't need to book into the gym but DD is booked into the creche so ti's as good as) for tomorrow morning. And other than a bit of indiscretion at lunchtime today has been a good day foodwise

MumtoCharlieandLola · 07/05/2009 22:22

Hello ladies, never been on this thread before but as I am definitely over the 5 stone to lose mark I thought I would pop in.

Do you wake up every morning and think, today I am going to be good, I am going to go to the gym tonight and I am going to start today .

Then get home at night, knackered, eat far too much tea and vegetate infront of the TV?

I know if I go to the gym, doing exercise will give me energy but I just don't have any. I work full time and then some, I have two kids and a house that is always messy.

Moan, moan , moan moan

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/05/2009 22:48

Hi there Mumto, and welcome.

No I'm afraid I don't think like that. I just do the best I can.

Sounds like you have a very busy schedule! I do find it helps if I schedule in what exercise I'm going to do - like tonight I have booked DD into the creche for tomorrow morning, so I WILL go as I've now paid for the creche. I also find that if I do the exercise I want to eat more healthily, if I don't I eat rubbish. And yes I do have more energy for doing it (bizarre isn't it?)

Anyway, good luck, and come anc chat whenever you feel like it. We don't bite honest!

Rialentless · 08/05/2009 06:30

morning

welcome mumto. I usually have those thoughts the night befor do ok all day, then something kicks off with the boys at teatime/they take ages to settle at bedtime, then it all goes to pot

last night we walked for well over an hour, not fast but a reasonable pace. I had a tiny bit of creamy pasta and garlic bread, and a flake, and I went to bed at 9.30, so wasn't tempted by the pizza and had no time to drink wine]smile]. So not prefect, but not a bad outcome really.

Am still shattered this morning though.

RGPargy · 08/05/2009 10:50

Jammy - enjoy the gym today!

Mumto - hello and welcome! I DO think like you (on my work days!). Thankfully i only work part time so i book DD into the creche (much to her disgust!) and go on the three week days that I dont work. When i was working full time i didn't have the energy at all to go at night so would veg in front of the TV, normally with wine lol.

I am very proud to say tho that i have been to the gym 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks and have lost 3 inches already, even without dieting! It'd be amazing to see how much i'd lose if i actually ate healthily wouldn't it. I might try and lay off the crappy food/big portions from next week and see how the losses go then.

Ria - well done for the walk and the wine/pizza resistance. I was not so good last night as i had pizza and wine and garlic bread too. What's worse is that I wasn't even hungry!! DP dashed up the pub to watch the footie so i grabbed some Doritos and dip and munched them whilst watching Britain's Got More Talent (i was in heaven!). By the time DP popped back at half time with the wine () i wasn't really hungry. When he came back after the match and was gagging for pizza, i cooked it but just ate for the sake of it. Naughty me! It wasn't even nice either coz it was far too overdone for my liking! Why did i bother?!! Probably because if i'd have said no, DP would have got upset that i didn't want to eat with him. Men are funny creatures aren't they?

I did enjoy the gym thanks. At least until I got out of the shower and realised I'd left my towel at home Had to dry the worst off with the bottom of my gym trousers (I decided the bit from the knees down wouldn't be too sweaty) and then get dressed while still a bit damp. But I survived and after a couple of weeks off I managed 2 circuits and some abdo work so not bad.

Am very impressed with your 3 times a week! Very good And that inch loss sounds fantastic!

RGPargy · 08/05/2009 15:54

Glad you enjoyed the gym,Jammy. Sorry but had to LOL at you forgetting your towel!! I took DD swimming on Wednesday and forgot her towel too but thankfully she was snuggled into her towelling bath robe so didn't need one anyway.

Hi everyone
Well a good week last week with another 2lbs off. This week though I have PUT ON 3 LBS .
However I have had a really good inch from waist and hips.I have been going to the gym 4 times per week and done resistance training as well as the CV stuff .So it is possible that my gain is is muscle mass. Also am on my period so will weigh again in a few days !
Welcome to Mumto and well done to RG and jammy on your exercising !!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/05/2009 18:09

Mmm, went for lunch with an old friend today. Had a pasta dish and some olives, so prob not the best but could've been worse. And I shared them with DD. Did resist cheap cake from Waitrose though even though it looked delicious and I'm really craving something sweet and yummy (also just started period). Settled for a bottle of diet ginger beer as a treat

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/05/2009 18:11

I bet that 3lb on is something to do with fluid retention and your period Katiestar. I used to only weigh monthly to avoid such variation. But well done on the previous 2lb off!
