well done jammy.

congratulations on your results Shoshe

welcome katiestar

not going well foodwise (again) but have done some walking today, just to and from school for DS1s activity day, but we were in a hurry as usual!

RGPargy · 08/04/2009 21:35

Bran - Thank you so much for the parcels. They are fab!

OP posts:
bran · 08/04/2009 22:19

That was quick. I'm glad you like them, do you think you will get use out of most of them? Was it worth DS throwing a tantrum in the post office?

I'll try and put my photos of DD back up on my profile tomorrow evening, you can come and be complimentary.

RGPargy · 08/04/2009 22:53

Oh yes, absolutely!! Ooooo cannot wait to see a pic of your DCs!!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/04/2009 18:16

I made a mistake today. I bought some cut-price raspberries from the local shop, and thought it would be nice to have them with yoghurt, and then saw some mini-meringues. At only 20 cals per meringue, I thought a couple with the rasps and yog tonight would be OK. Except I couldn't resist opening them after lunch and having one, then two ... then five . So I made myslef take the long way round when doing errands this afternoon and pushed my daily step count up to 12000 instead of the 10000 I would normally have managed to compensate.

bran · 09/04/2009 20:28

Hi RG, the pics should be back on my profile now.

JammyQueen - a friend came around to visit today and brought biscuits with her. Did I just nibble a tiny bit of the one I was dividing for the kids? Did I heck. I find it easier to not have something at all than to have a little bit and stop, I definitely shouldn't have had any today because the only way I could stop was to make her take the rest of them home with her when she left.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/04/2009 21:33

Lovely pics, bran And I am totally with you on the "all or nothing" thing!

I am not going to feel too bad though, it was less than 100 calories I snaffled, and I'm sure I walked that off. But I am just having fruit and yoghurt for pudding tonight, no more meringues for me!

Riallytoofattoflounce · 09/04/2009 21:38

Bran - your DCs are gorgeous. Your DS is obviously super-lovely (because all DSs are), but your DD - I would love to borrow her from that pic for a big snuggly hug, so so cute and cuddly looking. (I have a tiny bit of DD envy]) Am quite of your cupboards too

Had chinese and chocolate cake today DS1s birthday. and DS2 baked the chocolate cakem so I had to eat some to be a good mummy!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 10/04/2009 20:26

Well I decided this week that I should do some cooking with DD. So this afternoon we made chunky monkey cookies . They were delicious . But I only had one
small one, and I did do the Davina Superfit workout before dinner tonight. And I promise not to have any more cookies - we are going on a picnic with friends on Sunday, I will take them along and share them out instead.

Well good luck everyone with the willpower this weekend. What with HCBs, chocolate, eggs, etc it's a tought weekend for would-be healthy types. We should try to remember that having a little bit of choc egg is OK. Munching through the whole thing with mid-morning coffee, maybe not so good. Yeah, I know, easier said than done!

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 10/04/2009 22:34

I have NO chocolate egss in the house, and I don't like hot cross buns.

sadly I can do enough damage without

I am just having a bottle (just one) of black sheep ale. It is delicious. (I bought it for DH the other night, but he didn't some home and I forgot about it til now

RGPargy · 11/04/2009 00:38

Bran - what lovely DCs you have! Simply gorgeous!! You must be so proud! Thank you for sharing

Jammy - i'm all or nothing too, especially with meringues! I just love them and find it very hard to resist them!

Ria - ooo chinese! We haven't had our Seven Pound Special for a few weeks now coz we were getting bored of it. I've been making a curry instead - much healthier and better on the bank balance too. Cant believe you dont like HCBs! They are lush!! Your hair sounds FAB!! Sometimes being a little outrageous is just what you need.

We have a small egg each here (except for DD, coz she's too young), plus DP and I are out partying on Sunday night (big boozage coming up) and goodness knows what else we might have during our night away from home!

OP posts:
vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 11/04/2009 07:55

I would have as much as you can - chinese buffet for lunch, KFC for tea and then a big fat greasy kebab or burger post-rave.

Think I am on the wrong thread "Ria will never lose 5 stone at this rate"

am not a big fan of meringues either TBH. They're one of my mums few weaknesses though (I knew there were some!)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/04/2009 11:10

Well, i went to the gym this morning. And decided what I'd been doing was getting too easy, so upped the weights . And now I'm exhausted!! Off to the farmers' market in a moment, so more walking whcih is good, but more temptations. And my sister sent us a load of chocolates for easter too, which is lovely of her but hard for us.

Going for a picninc tomorrow with friends. Why is it that packing a sandwich and an apple and a yoghurt (or other equivalent of what I would have is at home) sounds so pathetic for a picnic lunch? Why do I feel we ought to have sandwiches and quiche or pies and fruit and cakes and X and Y and Z?

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 11/04/2009 11:41

well done on going to the gym jammy. How about low-fat pasta/rice salad with lots of crunchy veg, veg sticks and low fat dips or a salsa, pots of fruit salad with greek yogurt? Or make a frittata (sp?) type thingy so it's like a no-pastry quiche (it's a popular slimming world recipe)

It would be sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps, cake and choccy biccies here

RGPargy · 11/04/2009 11:58

Ria - unfortunately there's no kebab shops near the venue (gutted!) but we have come up with a cunning plan of taking our panini toaster and making up some paninis to take with us and toast when we get back to the hotel. Sad or what?!

Not sure if we're going now anyway as DP has been throwing up all night, as have his parents, who would be looking after DD. I have to say tho that i'm very p1ssed off - both DP and his parents seem to think that i have something to do with their tummy bug, because they were all here yesterday. FIL thinks it was the tea i made him and DP thinks it has something to do with the bowl i left in the sink filled with water that had raw chicken in it. Not sure how that works. Perhaps he thinks i'm going to dunk all our cutlery into the bowl of raw chickeny water just for the fun of it. I dont suppose they've thought that it was probably DD who gave it to them all as she was vomiting on Monday night. The more i think about it, the more i get!! Cheek of it!

Sorry, rant over.

Jammy - well done on going to the gym AND upping your weights! I know what you mean about picnics. They are a time for stuffing your face with quiche and French Fancies lol.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 11/04/2009 11:59

ooo Jammy you could make a Spanish Omelette!

OP posts:
vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 11/04/2009 21:18

If it was the tea you made then you and DD would be ill too RG. Tell DP it's his and his parents weak stomachs that can't take real food! (or would that be wrong?) Hope they are all better so you can still go. I think the panini thing is a good plan if no junk food available. When my parents travel they always have breakfast food with them as they can't face a full cooked breakfast!

My DH hasn't noticed I have dark red hair

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 12/04/2009 10:16

hope all is well RG and that you're on your way to have a nice time.

RGPargy · 12/04/2009 16:09

Why hasn't DH noticed your hair Ria?!!

Well, much to my utter disappointment, we are not going out at all now. DP isn't well enough to cope with the night out and MIL isn't well enough to look after DD anyway. I thought we could amend the hotel booking but only thought about it AFTER the deadline for amending bookings so we've lost the money we've paid for it now. Thankfully it was only £40, which is still loads but it could have been alot worse!!

I'm feeling a bit like a single parent at the moment lol. DP has been away all week and came back on Thursday and then by Friday night/Saturday early hours he was throwing up and he's been ill ever since! Honestly, men are so weak sometimes. ;)

Hope you all have a great Easter weekend.

OP posts:
vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 12/04/2009 16:40

because he is a MAN RG

for your night out.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/04/2009 17:57

for your lost night out RG.

Picnic ended up indoors but OK for me food wise. I made hedgehog shaped bread rolls, which "lifted" the sandwich status somewhat and we had those with plenty of delicious cherry toms on the side and fruit salad with low fat yoghurt afterwards. And I passed on the cookies [smug]. And although it wasn't nice enough to take the picnic out, we had a brisk 2 mile walk after lunch, and I went swimming this morning [doubly smug].

katiestar · 12/04/2009 20:36

Bad luck about your night out and sorry the in-laws are blaming you for the tummy bug .My parents are like this too.

Well done on the Gym ,walking and swimming !How did you mange to fing somewhere open on Easter sunday ? Everywhere is closed round here

Today is my official weighing day and was delighted to see I have lost 4 lb this week
as I haven't been doing too much exercise.Hoping to go for a walk in the dles with DH and the 4 kids tomorrow and take a picnic lunch.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/04/2009 20:50

I dunno Katiestar - our local pool/gym was just open as normal today. Reduced hours tomorrow though.

I also lost 4lb this week I forgot to say earlier.

RGPargy · 12/04/2009 23:26

Well done on being good today Jammy! Well done also to you and Katie for losing 4lbs! That's brilliant. You're inspiring me to try and be good again. Think i'm going to go with calorie counting again as i think when you count calories, it seems like you're having more than if you're counting points. I think it's because you can eat and count up to 1800 (for example) whereas with points you only count up to 26 (in my case) so it seems more. Does that make sense or am i rambling a load of tosh?

Nothing was open at this neck of the woods either. Even Homebase and Toys R Us were shut!

Hope you have a nice day tomorrow ladies.

OP posts:
vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 13/04/2009 09:07

I knoe exactly what you mean RG, although it's a bit like points in having to drop your number when you lose!

I am eating sensibly until the DCs go back to school (too skint to do a "diet" shop)

well done to you both on losing 4lb Jammy, that is over your holiday gain isn't it? so well done!
Katiestar, where are you based, roughly?

I'm off jousting today[grin IIRC the black prince was pretty tasty, though I promise not to eat him

bolognese sauce in the slow cooker - have never made it this way before
