morning all

no suggestions from me lou. I have lost about 1 1/2 stone with SW after DS2 was born (he is now 5), probably the same with WW when DS1 was a baby (he's 12 on Thursday!), and in between times have done calorie counting and Rosemary Conley (am doing the GI Jeans ATM). I have the Paul McKenna stuff somewhere, maybe I should dig it out.

Well, DH (who was supposed to be staying over at work last night and coming home after the early shift this morning) came home unexpectedly last night, and brought wine!!! I resisted for about an hour, though I did get out one on the tiny wine glasses instead of my usual one, and sadly I had a snack attack and had a packet of crisps (which were horrible actually, some bread, half a double decker and a few nice biscuits Probably would have eaten less if he'd brought a takeaway! Anyway, not to worry. Back on it today.

Hope we all have a good weekend!

RGPargy · 04/04/2009 13:52

I gave in to temptation as well Ria lol!

DP wanted to know if i'd like to pop to the pub for a swiftee and as i was cooking DD's dinner, i just chucked in on one of her little plastic plates with a lid, and then we all shot up the pub and i had 2 smirnoff ices there. Then DP bought me a further 2 to have indoors. I have to say tho they were LOVELY and i actually felt a slight effect from them whereas normally i dont! Yay!!

That's it for booze for the weekend now. No more booze til next Sunday night when DP and I are off out to our little rave in Southampton We're debating about taking the sandwich toaster with us too because there's no chip shops or kebab shops on the way home and we always end up back at the hotel starving hungry and gagging for some chips or something!

As you can tell, i'm not overly concentrating on the food problem at the moment, but am merely tackling the "no drinking unless i'm out" situation.

OP posts:
Riallytoofattoflounce · 04/04/2009 17:25

oh well...

cutting out booze is a start though, and that will cut down on "with booze snacking"

I am knackered having been busy-ish all day, and I can't be bothered to cook, so I'm going to have a slice of the boys pizza (I knew pizza would be a mistake) just now and then get something for later. It's back to my old habits I know, but I just don't have the energy to cook and eat chicken, jacket spud and salad. I feel really dizzy again too. I have to go for a wlk to the shop though, for milk and bread, so that'll burn a bit off

dratted weekends!

RGPargy · 04/04/2009 22:00

As much as i love weekends, they are a pain in the arse for dieters aren't they!!!

OP posts:
Riallytoofattoflounce · 05/04/2009 09:51

I think maybe it's the diet that's a pain in the arse for weekends TBH.

was it wrong to eat a creme egg twisted for breakfast?

RGPargy · 06/04/2009 21:05

hehe!!

Hmmm.... i should be saying "yes it's wrong to eat a Twisted for breakfast" but i would probably do the same myself! Mind you, it could depend on what time you ate it......

Hey RG. I've finally posted some more clothes to you, they've been lurking in the bottom of the wardrobe for ages. I'm quite apple-shaped and you're not so I didn't bother sending my wide-waisted, narrow-hipped trousers.

Hopefully you're not too willowy to be able to wear what I've sent (actually, I hope that you are but YKWIM). DS threw a mega-embarassing strop in the queue in the post office, so if they don't fit I don't want to know. I want to believe that I was standing there for a good reason, trying to be 'reasonable mum' of a child who more closely resembles a Tasmanian devil than a nearly 5 yo.

I hope you're all well. I haven't been on here for ages, because I haven't lost any weight for ages. Hopefully now that we have our new DD and once DS goes back to school after the holidays I will be able to sort out my eating patterns and increase my exercise level.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2009 21:35

Hi there everyone! Can I come and say hello? I'm trying to lose 3 stone as a medium term goal, on the way to 6 (or more ) overall. I've lost best part of 2 stone so far by calorie counting/eating healthily and plenty of exercise. Afraid I don't "do" diets, so am aiming for about 1500 calories a day which I find works for me.

Just had a weeks away though, and gave in to temptations too many times (cake, biscuits, beer, chocolate, pasties, nuts, crisps, take away) so now need to focus on getting back into the healthy mindset. Thankfully I didn't do too much damage according to the scale so it's not been too demoralising. But thought a little extra support wouldn't go amiss.

RGPargy · 06/04/2009 22:01

Hi Bran Wow thank you so much for sending me more clothes!!! Please let me send you some PP?! Let me know your PP address and i'll send you something over to cover the costs of your postage.

I'm afraid i'm not willowy in the slightest haha. Sorry that DS had a strop - i hope the clothes are worth it too! I dont think you ever mentioned you were PG?? Or perhaps you did but my sieve-for-a-brain forgot?? Either way, congratulations on your new DD!!

Jammy - hello and welcome! Calorie counting used to work for me too. Maybe i should go back to it as it seemed to work for me too (and was a lot less complex than trying to work out points!). Glad you had a good week away.

Have a good week everyone!

I wasn't pg, we're adopting her. Full story here. Don't worry about PP, it didn't cost much. If you could possibly refund the loss of standing in the local community caused by DS's strop I'd appreciate that.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 06/04/2009 22:59

hey jammy! good to see you. You'll love it here, this thread is as nice as "ours"

off to catch up.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 06/04/2009 23:10

hey bran, welcome back, and congratulations on DD. I noticed your thread when you started it, but I lost it. your DCs sound gorgeous.

Jammy, I'll apologise now for you having to "listen" to my weigh-related woes on at least 2 out of 3 threads.

I knew 1,200 calories wasn't nearly enough...

RGPargy · 06/04/2009 23:11

Oh bran, what a fabulous story!! Congrats to you on your new DD!!! Can you put your pics up again please?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/04/2009 08:46

Congrats Bran!!!

And Hi Ria! And yes 1200 isn't that much - I can manage it for a short period but I find it too restrictive for long term use. I just get miserable and give up! Anyway, I used some online thing to see how many calories I should be eating, and for my weight and activity level it said I should be eating 1900 calories to lose weight . A heavier body needs more fuel just to keep it going! So aiming for 1500 should be fine, and if that website was right, it gives me a little leeway for miscalculation / discrepancy.

Having said that I'm hungry now, and it's only an hour and half since breakfast and 4 and a half hours to lunch (Lunch will be late today as I am going to a yoga class first)

Riallytoofattoflounce · 07/04/2009 08:54

I think I used to lose on 1,750, when I was lighter!

This week is going to be a bit of a non-starter food-wise - DS1s birthday (were supposed to be having fish & chips), a couple of possible picnics and then DS1s birthday outing (probably pizza when we get home), not to mention the chocolate cake DS2 & I are making tomorrow. Will have to KEEP ACTIVE!!!

Would you believe I am still at the same weight as last week. Pah.

RGPargy · 07/04/2009 13:46

Think i might go off and look up my calorie intake too.

I feel shattered today. DD woke up at midnight last night and when i went into her room she was laying in a pile of sick and it was EVERYWHERE! In her hair, on her face, on her sleeping bag, cot sheets - everywhere!! Poor little mite spent the next 2 hours being sick and finally flaked out at 2am. She woke up bright and early at 7am and then was sick again. Niiiice! Still, she's perked up alot now and is currently having a nap in her cot (instead of in a wrap on my back - hoorah!). I feel like chocolate lol.

Riallytoofattoflounce · 07/04/2009 17:55

poor DD, hope she's better now. Thank goodness she didn't puke down your back from her carrier. yuk.

I'm shattered, for no good reason, and would love to pack up and go to bed.

katiestar · 07/04/2009 18:59

Hello folks.Could I join you ,please. My longterm aim is to lose 5.5 stone but the thought of that is just too daunting , so I am breaking it down into easier steps.I started a couple of weeks ago with doing slim-fast. 800 calories per day + 500 calories worth or exercise per day .To begin with it gave me horrendous diarrhoea !! Then one night I woke up with palpitations and hardly had the energy to sit up !!ao I'm trying to be a bit more sensible now and just eat sensibly , and exercise 3 or 4 times a week.Have lost about 9 lbs so far I think

Shoshe · 07/04/2009 19:23

Just got back from WW.

And I have hit the stone mark.

just another stone to go

Shoshe · 07/04/2009 19:24

bugger my numbers are not working properly, that should read three stone gone and three stone to go!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/04/2009 20:08

Poor DD RGPargy Hope all is well again soon.
And Hi Katiestar and Shoshe Well done Shoshe on your loss so far And Katiestar, I think that eating sensibly and exercise really is the way to go.

Well I've eaten sensibly today, I've done an hour's yoga and walked a little of 9000 steps. I know I've done OK. But unfortunately there's no instant gratification to be had I'll just have to be patient and hope that there will be some wight loss to see at the end of the week.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/04/2009 20:08

(A little over 9000 steps )

RGPargy · 07/04/2009 21:26

Ria - I did take DD out into the big wide world this afternoon for a breath of fresh air and was praying for a non-puking episode. We had success! She's not been sick since first thing this morning so hopefully that'll be it for now.

Katie - hello and welcome!! Cant believe you were on 800 calories a day plus 500 cals of exercise. That means you were only having 300 cals a day!! No wonder you didn't have any energy to sit up!! Sensible eating is the key, plus exercise of course.

Now enough preaching. I really should actually put it into practice lol.

Shoshe - wow, well done on the loss!!

Jammy - 9000 steps is good going. I think i'm lucky if i do 900!! haha!!

OP posts:
katiestar · 08/04/2009 12:29

well done on the 9000 steps .Roughly how far is that in miles do you think ?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/04/2009 17:02

My guess would be about 4 miles?
Only 6000 today, but I did also have 45 mins in the gym this morning. And I've been hungry all day but my snacking between meals has been limited to 2 apples an olive and some raw pepper
