Welcome Mummyegg!

Planning and home cooking can take up loads of time cant it, especially if you work full time. I'm lucky enough to work only 2 days a week (yippee!) so i have a bit more time on my hands and i STILL dont seem to have enough time in the day to do things! not sure about Herbalife type things. They all seem a bit faddy to me. I honestly think the best type of "diets" are the ones where you change your eating habits - for good!

5 - well done!!

Ria - well done on maintaining!

I've lost a mere half a pound from the last time i was weighed back in mid-january. I've still not lost my post-xmas bulge - not that i'm trying too much anyway).

Hi all - can i join in here please? I'm in a foul mood as I have started a diet today. Have a very, very, very, very long way to go.

mummyegg · 16/02/2009 16:06

Good on you for starting.

Thanks RGPargy you are right i just need something to give me a kick start and feel good enough to put in the effort.

wotulookinat · 16/02/2009 16:27

I've had a good day so far today so I'm pleased. Even walked the dog, which is a bit of an effort at the moment

RGPargy · 16/02/2009 21:57

Wot - hello and welcome! Well done for starting your diet today. We've all got great journeys to go on - whether it's about weight loss or some other journey so you're not alone! Well done on taking the dog out!

Well, DP is working away for 3 days from tomorrow so i'm hoping that as he's away i wont be encouraged to eat crap or drink wine (my biggest downfall lol).

Have a nice evening ladies!

RG, a half a pound off is better than on I suppose.

Ria, well done for staying the same, at least you didnt put on.

Welcome wotulookinat and mummyegg

keepingitRia · 16/02/2009 22:53

Hi wot, welcome to the thread.

Well, I've been for a RUN today OK, so it wasn't an actual Paula Racliffe-esque effort (though to me it was), more of a baby elephant trundle, but I managed half the first day of training on couch potato to 5k. I feel really good, all tingly (the same I get from a 30min DVD workout but in less time!) Am not keen on the "outsideness" of it yet (went on the beach today, don't fancy running round the block where I live), DH is being mean and won't let my buy another treadmill (I sold mine last year).Next time I hope to complete the whole session, which I think amounts to 20 mins. I did get a really brisk walk out of it too as DS3 decided to fall into a rock pool and got soaked - too cold for that yet in these parts! (did fall asleep when I put him to bed though)

the porridge thing seemed to work well too, have been really good foodwise, especially considering DH is home today. Just having a glass of wine before bed...

(sorry for mammoth post been a long day - it's half term!)

RGPargy · 16/02/2009 23:26

Well done on the run Ria - wowsers!

OP posts:
wotulookinat · 17/02/2009 09:25

I am very impressed at the run - I would never be brave enough to do that, so well done you!
I had a good day yesterday. I've already had a brief walk today to drop my son off at the childminders, so that's a good start.
What do people find is good to snack on?

wotulookinat · 17/02/2009 10:34

Right, well I was extrememly brave this morning actually stood on the scales. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might, but don't get me wrong, it was bad! 5 stones off would be a good start.

Marthasmama · 17/02/2009 13:02

Can I come to play? I want/need to lose 6 stone. DD is 4 months and I have lost about a stone since we came home from hospital. However I lost that stone in the first week! It was my birthday on Sunday so I have no excuse not to get my arse in gear. I have a Wii fit which I plan to use to help. I am still bfing, but have recently read that my milk won't be affected by diet so I can crack on..

Oh and hello RGPargy you medway girl you!

RGPargy · 17/02/2009 14:58

Wot - Well done on the walk! Everything helps doesn't it! Good things to snack on? Now, do you mean good as in really yummy or good as in low fat/cal Seriously, if you get peckish, Asda do some snack pots of couscous which are only 1 point each and they are really tasty!

marthasmama - hello! Welcome to the thread! Where abouts in medway are you? I'm assuming you're in my neck of the woods anyway hehe!! I couldn't see a pic of you on your profile - unless it's you standing with DS in the tartan? If so you dont need to lose 6 stone (although i'm assuming the pic was taken a few years ago lol). Ooooo how exciting! haha! Ok i'll calm down now.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 17/02/2009 15:34

No that's my mum!!!! I can't find any good pictures of me to put on my profile and there is no way on God's green earth that I am putting a picture of me as I am on the WWW!!!! I live in Gillingham RGPargy, near the Watling Street fire station. I am 13.5 stone but I am only 5ft 2.75 (and oh how important that .75 is!!!) and very, very small boned! I have size 2 feet so although 7.5 stone sounds tiny, it is about right for my height and frame. I was 6 stone 12 three years ago but that was too small!!! I am going shopping this afternoon to stock up on 'good' food so I'll get the diet under way tomorrow! and all at once!

wotulookinat · 17/02/2009 16:16

Marthasmama, there's no need to whisper that weight! God, that's less than my target weight
Welcome to the gang, though. I've only just joined here.
Thanks, RG. I walked again this afternoon, to pick DS up from the childminders, this time carrying two BIG bags of clothes to give to someone, so that will have done me good.
I'm glad I found this thread as it's making me feel quite positive.

RGPargy · 17/02/2009 20:30

lol MM! The pics of me are bloody awful too but i'm past caring now because that's just who i am at the moment! You sound very petite if you have only a size 2 shoe size! I'm a size 7! haha! As for being 13.5 stone, i would LOVE to be that weight!! Add 5 stone to that and that's what i weigh I know where you mean in Gillingham. DP is originally from Gillingham and his parents live near the station. I used to live in Gillingham too, many many moons ago! I live near Toys R Us

wot - Well done on another walk! Glad this thread is having a positive affect on you!

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 17/02/2009 22:14

RGP those pics on your profile are not awful. I like your short hair. I want my hair short again but while my face is spherical I'll keep it longer! I bought a new top today, only a zip up one from Sainsbury's, but hurrah!, I look like a person again (rather than a Weeble). Yay, feeling a bit better about things now. I don't look like such a lost cause anymore!

keepingitRia · 17/02/2009 22:23

Haven't looked at your profile RG, but you look great on your FB pics.

I am loving this "running" thing (such a loose term)

but it makes me SO hungry (and sleepy)

RGPargy · 17/02/2009 22:34

aww thanx MM. I really must update the pics of DD! I bought 2 new tops yesterday too, only for work tho. I only work 2 days a week and even so, i'm so fed up with wearing the same two tops week in week out. I'm sure everyone has a bet to see which of my 3 rotated tops i will turn up in on those two days! haha!

Ria - blimey, you are doing brilliantly!!! Why can you be in my front room and then you could give me a kick up the jacksy to do my DVDs while i booted you out the door to go jogging!!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 17/02/2009 22:38

because together we would say "sod it" and crack open the wine and sweet chilli sensations

am really going now...

RGPargy · 17/02/2009 22:46

haha Ria, that is so true. So so true!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 18/02/2009 11:12

Gosh all this talk of excercise is making me sleepy

Well done Ria on therun and Wot on the walk.

Need to get myself motivated for when the kids back at school. Going to start my excercise video.

RGPargy · 19/02/2009 13:43

I think the best way to get started on exercise DVDs etc is to set a specific day and a specific time so that you psych yourself for it. I think i'm going to do this because i dont even THINK about exercise once i've had my dinner and DD is in bed!

At least you will know that, for example, Tuesday night and thursday night at 8pm is exercise time so you can set the video recorder to record the stuff you are missing on the box!! haha!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 19/02/2009 15:57

DP and i were talking about when we used to go to small little raves before i got pg with DD and we decided that we'd like to go to the next event in April. I've got in touch with the promoter (i know alot of people in the "scene" lol) and he is going to be sending us tickets for his event. The night is on Sunday 12th April in Southampton (Bank Holiday). That gives me just over 7 weeks to seriously do something about my weight. Although I'm back to pre-pg weight, i'd like to be perhaps even a stone lighter than what i am now before i go there, just to make me feel a bit better about myself!

Think it's time to make some serious batches of no point WW soup and get in a stash of Asda Couscous snack pots (1 point each).

I WILL DO THIS!!!!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 19/02/2009 19:35

been for a 3 mile walk with the boys today, but foodwise not good

I got a treadmill today though (excited) from freecycle and it looks to be better than the one I sold last year(and I'm sure DH can't complain when it was free)

RGPargy · 19/02/2009 22:25

Well done Ria!

Food wise i have been very good. I have 4 points left and am just about to use 2 of them on a WW choc mini roll lol.

Oh and this will shock you the most - i haven't had wine for THREE DAYS!!!!
