Hello ladies, hope you don't mind me joining.

Hmmm, lets see. I started WW on Monday, at home with some books, not the meetings. I weigh in at a hefty 16st 10 lbs . Most of my weight is post baby weight, got 3 boys aged 5, 3 and 11 weeks. I do have polycystic ovarian syndrome, which makes it harder to lose weight (so I keep telling myself) but am now on tablets to help control my hormone levels, so fingers crossed. In a dream world I'd love to be a size 12, but size 16 would do me just fine!

You all sound lovely, have read some of this thread, so hopefully you wont mind if I tag along for the weight loss journey

RGPargy · 12/02/2009 15:23

Hi 5!

Welcome aboard! Always good to have new people along the way. Congrats on your newest addition to your family. I'm also on WW and my weigh day used to be a Monday but i'm going to change to a Saturday group as it's nearer to me.

I'd love to be a size 16 too - 10 years ago i was a size 12/14 and i long for those days back again but they seem so far away!

Think i'm still trying to lose my post-baby weight too - 14 months after the event!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 12/02/2009 17:10

I've been trying to lose it since ds1 was born .

I was doing really well, managed to lose 2 stone over 5 months but then unexpectedly fell pregnant with my new baby

Feel like I'm back to square one!

RGPargy · 12/02/2009 17:15

Ah yes, but i'm sure your new little fella is definitely worth it! I'm still trying to convince DP that we need another new baby to sniff so i'm very that you have one!

hi 5 and welcome. Hi RG too. Bad week again here. I really need a strategy for stress that doesn't involve food

I am trying to lose baby weight too 5, some of it from after DS1 who is nearly 12 but most of it from DS2 (5) and DS3 (18m)

Have friends coming over for a restrained evening of wine (we have promised that this time we will not still be up - with kids - at 2am and be completely pissed. And hopefully that means friends won't get pissed/emotional like they did last time and end up in tears)

Any valentine plans anyone? the SW valentine menu/recipes look nice, but as DH will be off cooking other peoples romatic dinners, no doubt we'll have crisps and dip/chinese when he gets in.

It is approx 3 weeks til DM&F get back from their hols. So really need to shift my arse.

And we now have the snow everyone else has had already.

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 18:39

oh, and I am trying to convince myself that I really can't have another baby

5inthebed · 12/02/2009 20:30

A non food way of getting rid of stress? Take up running

I really wish I could get myself motivated to do som excercise, but can't be bothered, by the time I've finished running around after the boys I'm shattered!

keepingitRia · 12/02/2009 20:37

running?

TBH I would love to, but I'm thinking hippo stampede I love those stories "I couldn't run from one lamppost to the next" that people put in their success stories, but I just can't imagine it being me. Maybe in a couple of stone?

I suppose when the kids are winding me up/DS1 has done whatever at school etc, I could bundle them all outside for a brisk walk. Will try that next time.

RGPargy · 12/02/2009 21:42

Hi Ria. Sorry you've been having a bad week. I just cant get my head round sticking to points at the moment so i totally sympathise! No stress here (except my snappy PMT) but i seem to have a habit of eating to celebrate anything. I'm sad, ooooh let's eat. I'm happy, ooooo!! let's eat!! I've lost weight, oooo let's have a treat! I've put on weight, oh well nevermind, let's eat. etc etc

I now have 3 new exercise DVDs but haven't even done one of them. The most i've done is stick the ironing board up and watch them as i'm ironing hahaha!! This was when i first bought them and i just wanted to see what they were like. DP's away for 3 nights next week tho so i will hopefully have some motivation to get out into the (freezing) conservatory and prance around a bit uninterrupted. Watch this space.

As for running, no way! I hate hate hate it!! Believe it or not, for someone that hates running, i absolutely love step aerobics! I think it's the structure of it and the fact that i hate stopping. The music is a good motivator too.

Walking is always a good idea Ria!

We have snow again here. I think this is the snow that they predicted last Thursday that never turned up. Hoping it doesn't lay and make going to work impossible tomorrow as i have a really busy day with organising trips abroad for my bosses etc. I suppose if the worst comes to the worst, i'll have to do everything by email/telephone from here!

5inthebed · 12/02/2009 22:02

I just find running a definate no no.I couldn't imagine mysef doing it, let alone get myself some of those fetching lycra get ups you see some runners wearing

I've got an excercise vid, was going to start it this week, but my 3 year old has been off school with the sickness bug, not once but twice!

The snow is really thick here as well (oop north)

RG, I usually eat to get away from it all. I could have done with a couple of creme eggs today, but being stuck in the house couldn't go to buy ny. Which is a good thing really. So I resisted and had a rice crispie square thiny instead (2 points)

paranoidmother · 12/02/2009 22:36

Hi

Wondering if I can join in to please.

I'm 32, and weigh way over weight at 130kg/21 stone or the size of a Giant Panda. Was slightly depressed at finding out a baby elephant only weighs 100kg so am looking to drop the weight down.

I've always been big but for the last 10 years have piled on the weight especially with having DD (4) and DS (2). Well I'm off to Eurodisney in October and I want to fit on the rides.

I can't afford to join ww or anything like that and can't get to them either as in the middle of no-where so am trying to cut down on size of portions and do some exercise on Wii fit and also Exercise DVD but seem to be able to come up with too many excuses.

Sorry for the waffle but I hope I can get down to smaller than a baby elephant and fit in smaller seats.

RGPargy · 12/02/2009 22:49

5 - haha, there's no way i'd don those fetching lycra get ups either! I look bad enough in trackie bottoms and a t-shirt!

Well done on having a rice crispy square. Didn't know they were only 2 points. I can see myself buying some of those very soon! Hope your DC gets better soon (school at 3?!).

PM - hello and welcome! Good luck with the weight loss. Portion sizes and generally healthy eating are good starts. Exercise excuses are plentiful here too. However when i was rushing for the train this morning it made me realise how unfit i was and i could feel my body REALLY straining just to walk fast! Deffo time to at least TRY to exercise, i think!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 08:57

hi PM, welcome was that info about the elephant on QI? i remember hearing that somewhere and thinking "oh bugger"

RG, that is SO like me. I think it's partially because DH and I get so little quality time together, that food gets to be more important than it should be, and when things are a bit crap generally, every little thing that's better is worthy of a treat

Am dreading tonight, I am really rubbish at RL socialising.

5 - where up north are you (roughly)?

schools seems to be open and sadly the snow has cleared enough for DH to get to work. although what you betting his boss is stuck somewhere and can't get in today/tomorrow morning and will turn up tomorrow night when ll the hard work is done but just in time for the glory

(sorry, a little bitter today)

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 09:27

nice to see the thread getting busier again

have been talking to someone who is size 8/10 tops, who are depressed because they've put on a few pounds. Pah. definitely picked the wrong person to talk to. would love to only have a few pounds to lose

5inthebed · 13/02/2009 09:32

Ria, am in Newcastle. Snowed beautifully yesterday, but today its more a slushy mess. Need to get out the house though before I go stir crazy. Need to get some cottage cheese as well

Know exactly what you mean by thinnies moaning about needing to lose weight. My friend had her baby 6 dats before me, and is back to size 10, but still moans she has a huge arse

Where are you going tonight?

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 09:46

friends & their DCs coming round. even my DCs are dreading it

I'm not as far north as you. Am v disappointed that it did not snow more overnight and prevent DH from getting to work (he nearly didn't get home last night.)

I really need to tidy my house but I can't be bothered.

5inthebed · 13/02/2009 21:44

Hope tonight goes ok for you Ria and that your hubby gets home ok!

Need to start excercising soon, otherwise my baby belly isnt going to go as quick a I'd like it to.

keepingitRia · 14/02/2009 13:48

thanks 5, it was fine (I always get in such a tizz about socialising) naughty food was limited as our village shop is crap. friends ate a whole tub of olives and feta cheese between them (I don't like either) and nearly all a pack of thai sensations. I ate rather more super-healthy homemade pizza than I should have though, but I put loads of veg on it. The good thing about having a toddler is low tables are a no-no, so snacks were well out of the way, and I'm far to idle to keep getting out of my comfy chair to go to the "safe" spot to get them!

I am going out shortly to buy treats for tonight (as I'll be in by myself) but am going to do meal planning and stuff while I nibble, and might study too (I can't eat while I'm studying!)

Hope everyone has a nice day.

RGPargy · 15/02/2009 11:00

hi everyone.

Didn't manage to get to WW AGAIN this saturday because DD managed to fall asleep half an hour before we were going to leave and she didn't wake up until 10.30! typical!! Will try again next Saturday lol. Might even visit my old WW Monday group tomorrow, although after the weekend i've had, i'm not sure that's entirely a good idea.

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 12:44

nope, crap weekend

not even made better by naughty food

do you think it is worth making porrige overnight in the slow cooker?

I am going shopping now!

5inthebed · 15/02/2009 18:40

Sorry your wekend has been a bit rap Ria. Tomorrow is a new week, so just go from there

RG, good luck with getting weighed this week, hope you manage it.

I was really good today. Had dinner at my mams, which was a roast, but just had a few slices and loads of veg and a couple of potatoes. No yorkies! She also made a fab pud with spiced puff pastry, chocolate mousse, strawberries and whipped cream. Looked lovely, but I was well behaved and just had some strawberries .

Can't wait to weigh myself tomorrow to see if I have actually lost anything. Been ever so good, so I can't see why not.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 22:51

Good luck 5

tomorrow is indeed a new day and I intend to make the most of it. Am thinking of cutting out bread this week and having porridge for breakfast (the new SW plan is fab, but it's a bugger only having 1 HEB - so bread OR cereal, but as I can now have meat with my pasta/rice/potatoes, I have to find a way round it)

I discovered the "couch potato to 5k" website and thread today. I nearly went running jogging tonight, but DH didn't come home in time.

Hi RG. Bloody valentines hey? (I still have to have my romantic nice meal, DH been too busy...)

5inthebed · 16/02/2009 08:17

Well just weighed myself, and have lost 6lb!

Good luck with the new SW diet. I'd rather have bread than cereal, am total carb addict.

mummyegg · 16/02/2009 08:35

Hi is it ok if i join in please.

Similar story for me. Put on 4.5 stone with dd1 and lost 2.5, put back on 0.5 then fell pregnant. Didn't put as much on but since having dd2 have just piled on the weight.

I am to scared to weigh myself but i think i will be back to square one or worse. Can't get my head round WW. Don't seem to have mind space or time to do the meal planning and all home cooking that i did last time.

Because i work as well i'm just finding it all non stop and grab rubbish quick food one the go, plus sweet things to keep me going.

I'm thinking of trying herballife has anyone done this before? Or heard anything about it?

keepingitRia · 16/02/2009 10:05

welcome mummyegg

well done 5!!!!

I am happy to have maintained (again) this week...
