I have

although i have just had a glass of lemon squash instead of opening the wine (only cos if I open it now I'll have drunk my quota by the time DH gets in)

RGPargy · 19/02/2009 23:02

There's nothing worse than drinking all your wine and then later watching someone else drink theirs without you!! Torture!! lol!

Where is everyone!

Don't you just love half term !!! Kids tiring me out, but diet is going really well

On the excercise dvd idea, I'll be doing it on a Tuesday and Thursday to begin with, when ds1 and 2 at school as won't have the energy later on in the afternoon to get off my fat arse.

RG, the rave sounds like a fab thing to go to. Burn off lots of energy dancing! I prefer to use my spare points on the WW carrot cakes (2 points). They are yummy.

Ria, well done on the 3 mile walk Ria, and congrats on getting the treadmill! DH has just bought a weight bench, so might secretly use it when he is at work

Tomorrow night is my wine night, have a whole bottle (and ben saving points all week) so I intend on enjoying it, and maybe pretending to be ill Sunday so I dont have to go to my MIL for her awful Sunday dinner.

Jaquelinehyde · 20/02/2009 22:59

Hello people can I join please?

I've been on MN since 05 but haven't posted for about a year so I'm pretty much a newbie all over again.

Anyway I have hunted you out because I need some support to lose weight and from past experience I know that MN really does help. It was a support group on MN that helped me quit smoking (over 3 years now) so I'm hoping that it will be this group that helps me kick my food demons in to touch.

Anyway I have one DS at present but will want another one soon but really want to be a slim pregnant woman. I'm giving myself a few years to drop my weight at the moment I weight 22st 13lbs and will be starting my weight loss thing as of Monday.

Do you do any kind of weigh in on this thread, are there any rules etc I should know. Sorry for rambling on!

keepingitRia · 20/02/2009 23:05

just popping in.

another none-starter today

DH lost his job through no fault of his own (he took the day off sick - due to his shoulder problem which was discussed when he took the job - and they told him not to go back as he is unreliable and can't cope with the hours - he has had 1 1/2 days off sick and missed a tiny bit of one shift when DS2 was in A&E, in THREE months, and he works at least twice as many hours as everyone else, especially the person who took the decision) I very much suspect foul play.

So, in a bit of a tizzy kind of whirl here. Not over-eating, but not paying much attention (again)

keepingitRia · 20/02/2009 23:08

sorry for self obsessed rant

Hi jaq... welcome to the thread. We usually weigh in on whatever day suits us (depending on our own class or whatever) and somewhere there is a stats list where we post weight lost this week, and total weight lost. No need to post actual weight if you don't want to, but you already have. We're all doing different diets.

No rules, no judging. Lots of support, and I thik we're all quite nice really

RGPargy · 21/02/2009 14:07

5 - Dunno if i'll be doing any dancing! The most i'm likely to do is a bit of jigging while i prop up the bar lol Enjoy your wine night tonight!

Jaq - hello and welcome! Well done on the stopping smoking. i'm also an ex-smoker (twice!). The first time i gave up for 7 years then started again (Yes, i know i'm an idiot!) and then this time around i've been given up for about 5 or 6 years now. Cant see me ever going back to it again, although that's not to say that sometimes i get the odd craving, but only for a split second! Are you going to follow some sort of weight loss plan or just do your own thing?

Ria - so sorry DH lost his job. Does sound a bit suss doesn't it. What w@nkers! Feel for you and DH.

I was chatting to a girl at work the other day about diets etc and she started going on about Lighter Life. I told her that i really dont like faddy diets like that and she kept going on about how it could do me wonders if i was just on it for a month or two. Then she sent me the link to their website! I told her quite firmly that i wasn't interested (especially at a minimum of £47 a WEEK!) and that if i did lots of no point soup and ate that i'd be doing the same thing! Honestly, some people think they're doing you a favour but they're just being annoying lol.

jaz236 · 21/02/2009 20:51

oh my gawd u have bought a treadmill well done aswell - ive been going on my stepper lately, my legs are toning up but my upper half, ie my body looks like a bloody barrel!! im just a barrel on legs now!

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 22:12

jaz, good to see you back! was wondering...

am not on the slap still, though I put on a top Dsis gave me yesterday (I'm sure it would still fit her fine, but I like it for once, so I'm not complaining), it's shades of green - I seem to wear mainly purple/black/things that are so hideous I can't describe them - so I put a bit of tinted moisturiser in some plain moisturiser, a bit of green eyeliner and eyeshadow, dark brown mascara and a bit of lip gloss. Nice tiny silver earrings and a green stone pendant. Felt a bit better about myself. My hair got wet in the rain on Thursday (just after I'd washed it and before it even had chance to dry properly) so it's really soft too

DH has got a bit of part time work. Hopefully it will do him until something else comes up, or the hours will fit in with his jobseekers requirements. It is as if a weight has been lifted off him. Hope to get to the bottom of it this week though.

sorry, am waffling on. Am avoiding tidying out the DVD cupboard.

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 22:13

still haven't put the treadmill together, but the boys were playing "conveyor belt" on it last night, with loads of videos. The house is a tip!

5inthebed · 21/02/2009 22:21

Ria, sorry to hear about your DH job.It does sound a bit sus though . I was made redundant in August from THAT bank, not a nice place to be. But thats the way the current climate is at the moment. Hope he manages to get a more secure job soon.

RG, lol at propping the bar up. I'd be right there standing next to you.

Welcome to the board Jaq. I'm fairly new as well, but have found this board really good help. What diet are you following, if any?

RE lighter life. A woman at my prev job went on this, and lost loads of work, but far too quickly for my liking. She looked anorexic towards the end of it. You are meant to lose more than you should on meal replacement drinks, and then put on the needed weight when food is re-introduced . She has managed to keep the weight off, but I don't think it is meant for every one. And the price they charge is ridiculous!

Shoshe · 22/02/2009 08:11

may i join in, have been going to WW for a month now and have so far lost 9.5 pounds, started off at 16.25, now 15.7.

JollyPirate · 22/02/2009 08:14

Hello - can I join. I had six stones something to lose. Am with WW and have lost 1 stone 3lbs since mid January. Well done to shoeshe on your loss too.

I weigh on Wednesdays and the past three days have been difficult because I have been away and had no say over the food. A few days of low point soup and WW bread beckons.

Shoshe · 22/02/2009 08:20

JP, I know the feeling, it was my Birthday last week, and period due, so don't think I will have lost anything this week, although I have stuck to 18 points the rest of the week (I can have 4), so hopefully that will have helped.

RGPargy · 22/02/2009 09:39

Welcome Shoshe and JP! Nice to have some new members on board! I must say you two are very inspiring! i've also being doing WW. Well, i say "doing" but what i mean is "paying for the monthly pass, going along to meetings but not really following it and not really losing much weight".

jaz236 · 22/02/2009 10:00

rg that lighter than life stuff another woman i read in magazine died as she drank 7 litgres of water nearly in one go and her brain flooded - not good - i reckon we all stick to the natural method, ie sew our gobs up ha x

5inthebed · 23/02/2009 11:53

Hope everyone has had a pretty good weekend.

Got weighed this morning, and I've lost 5lbs . So pleased with that. Thats 11lbs so far, although don't feel the benefit of it yet and think its come off my waist mainly. Why cant it come off my arse?

RGPargy · 23/02/2009 20:39

Wow, well done 5!! That's brilliant!! You are very inspiring!

I weighed myself this morning and i've lost 1lb. Had a bit of a bad week tho (as seems to be the usual case for me lately) so i'm not surprised. I didn't go to WW this morning because i was too embarrassed.

OP posts:
5inthebed · 23/02/2009 21:16

Well done on the 1lb RG! Better off than on I say. Give me a couple of weeek, and I'll only be losing a pound a week, no doubt about it!

I was very naughty last night, while doing a bottle for ds3, I ate a cadbury chocolate swiss roll thingy. It was yummy! Doesnt count though as it was eaten just after midnight and anything eaten during the witching hour has zero calories

RGPargy · 23/02/2009 21:43

lol @ the witching hour 5! I think my witching hour lasts for 24 hours.....

OP posts:
Shoshe · 24/02/2009 13:43

Off to be weighed tonight, I think I am now only losing a 1lb a time now as well, always lose a big amount the first few weeks then drop to about a pound.

But i did go out for dinner for my birthday last Wednesday, and I am due on, so that may have something to do with it.

Will see tonight anyway.
