oh stop it bacon, i havent had fried bread for years - and now im craving it - oh no - had lemon tart on my hangiver day yesterday and chips and egg and peas - such a bad move and didnt enjoy it just wanted crap food to curb my hangover

RGPargy · 22/01/2009 14:27

Jaz - I think you'll find that me and Five's DD are both Aquarius, not Capricorn

Not drinking again?? Sod that!! I love alcohol so i'll never be able to give it up!

Dilema - be strong!!

I cant talk tho. I've been over the pub for lunch and had a chicken breast in a bun (not too bad) with a few chips (also not too bad). But then i had to go to M&S and buy two buckets of choc mini rolls (v.v.v.v. bad) and a box of French Fancies (v.v.v.v. bad). DP is also coming home with a replacement b'day cake for me tonight. Yikes. I think i'm going to have a sugar rush/cake fest weekend. It aint gonna be pretty!!

Ria - Bacon is ok but it's way too overrated i reckon! haha!

Think i need to just have no-point soup all next week to make up for the badness that will ensue this weekend. Oh bugger, i do hate it when you want to be good but cant really....

snackattack · 23/01/2009 09:57

Hello....can I sneak in? I haven't read all this tread as it's so long...but I definitely have a HUGE amount of weight to use. I don't have scales in my house as they upset me (I'm sure you guess my name what my problem is!!)... I am literally poking my head in here and may RUN away as I have no idea how to go about losing any weight. I was thinking of weight watchers as my friend lost loads but unfortunately the meetings are in the evenings and I work. I am also thinking that I might join the on-line weight watchers programme but not sure really whether it's worthwhile as I feel i do need a kick up the bum to get started. I lost 2.5 stone about 3 years ago and it's all gone back on I think.

You all seem to know each other very well...I feel a bit of a gatecrasher... is it safe to stay?

RGPargy · 23/01/2009 12:06

Hi Snackattack!!

Welcome!! You're very welcome to stay - this is a lovely thread with good motivation, tips, tricks and the odd recipe. That doesn't mean to say we are perfect tho - far from it! If you look back a couple of messages you will see that we've had the battle of the fry up, won by a banana, me stuffing my face with chocolate and chinese coz it was my birthday on Wednesday (and i'm still being bad ) plus countless other battles and bad days. If you have a bad day dont beat yourself up about, just draw a line underneath it and move on, so to speak.

I am with WW and find it quite easy to follow because nothing is restricted so you can eat what you like as long as you stay within your points. Do try and go along to a meeting tho as i find the support and tips etc really helpful. Can you not do a daytime meeting somewhere?

I lost loads of weight about 10 years ago which has all gone back on too so i'm trying to get that all off again.

So erm... yeah.... stay awhile!!

snackattack welcome and relax and enjoy the chitter chatter x

RGPargy · 23/01/2009 22:48

Jaz - it's called Alli and is exactly the same as the one you'd get from the GP as the drug is Orlistat. Does the same thing. Not worth it tho really IMO.

Can i join you all? I want to loose about 9 stone!!!! in rerality though i would be happy with five or six but i really want to set my heights high then i might try harder to get there!! then when i have lost 6 i may giveup depending on what size i am then and how i feel!!
I think i have a problem with dieting as i can never do it properly, wqhenever i diet i just starve myself and then weight comes off but i cant stick to it long, so this time i am after a bit of motivation to keep at it longer!! Im trying to get pregnant and the practice nurse said doctor probably wont look into hormone tests as to why im not falling pregnant until im not stressed (hard when i have an autistic son!) and when i loose weight - i was so embarressed when i got on the scales im determined to be much much lighter by the time i go back to have my iron levels checked again at end of march.

So anyway, now ive told you a bit about what i want to loose, and why i am desperate to loose it can i join you all? does anyone else want to loose that much or am i the only really huge one here!!

jaz236 · 24/01/2009 08:50

thank you RG i wont be taking that then in a hurry - reckon the whole country will be going into dissaray over it then.

welcome jenny i to want to be pregnant again and going to see the docs on monday, that if i can get an apt, but had peclampsia last time so just needto check with doc to get the all clear! i know she will say to loose some fat defo!!

well hope u all have a geat day tday we are off to a table top sale then im off to the theatre this arvo darlinks!!

and i ve just had porridge for breakkie.

must share this with you guys i had chicken in ow fat bbq sauce last nite and beansprouts cooked with onions and grlic with corriander - and oh my gawd they were absoultely gorgeous and no fat whatsoever!!!

RGPargy · 24/01/2009 16:51

Hi Jenny, welcome!

I dont have 9 stone to lose but ideally would like to lose a good 7 stone, although i'd be happy with 6 stone too. Are you joining a slimming club? I'm with WW and find it quite easy as long as you stay within your points. it does take alot of willpower tho but once you get used to knowing your limits that's half the battle done.

jaz - yeah i think there will be a rush for them but i'll pass on them i reckon!

Off out for an italian tonight for my birthday. yummy! No point telling me to be good because i absolutely wont. Back to in Monday tho!

OP posts:
jennybensmummy · 24/01/2009 19:13

no, not doing any slimming clubs as did weight watchers once but i couldnt get on with it, i just hated standing to be weighed etc it should motivate you i know but it didnt me so i just stopped going! I dont really have the time to go either as i cant make any that are on around me as there is none in my village and the others are a bit far or at awkward times!! I have no idea what ideally my weight should be, 9 stones is just my ideal weight, im gonna look now and see if i can find online what my normal weight for my height should be and then we will see!! i know im a long way off though!!

jennybensmummy · 24/01/2009 19:25

well i have just checked and loosing 9 stone would put me at weight appropriate for my height! so i better try harder!! though what im doing must be working so far as since tuesday afternoon when i weighed myself after getting back from doctors ashamed (my scales are well different from theres in what i weigh so going off mine each time then i know where i am and what i have lost etc!) i have since tuesday lost 5lbs!! It better not be all i loose either i hope its the start of many more i so need to be normal as i have always been overweight since i was about 15! im 28 now!

Jenny - sorry you didn't get on with WW - we're all a long way off from our target weights dont worry. That's why we're on this thread!

Dilema - dont do the Cambridge diet. if it's under 600 calories you will end up just putting all the weight back on, plus more. Faddy diets really annoy me as they're so full of false promises and are dangerous. I've done enough to know! To stay the same weight the "average" woman should be eating around 2000 calories a day. If you want to lose weight then depending on your weight you should be eating between around 1500+. For instance if i were to be calorie counting instead of points counting, i would put myself on around 1750-1800 calories a day, based purely on my weight and the amount of calories my body needs. When i start losing weight and have lost a stone then of course i would lower my calories a bit to compensate for the fact that my body would need slightly fewer calories. Does that make sense? HTH anyway.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 25/01/2009 12:42

Oh forgot to say - we didn't end up going out for a meal last night in the end because DD was very tearful and not herself. We didn't think it was fair for her to go to MILs for her first ever sleep over if she wasn't well. So i sent DP up to Asda for provisions (i.e. wine etc) and as soon as he walked out the door, DD perked up and was right as rain. Bloody typical!! We got an indian takeaway instead. Yummy!!

HI JAz, no i dont take the tabs now, i still 'get' them but havent took them as the higher dose wasnt affecting me??its sheer bloody mindedness LOL..had a bad weekend as as meant to be having a girls noight in, but got cancelled at last minute, after me having bought in LOTS of food, so it was eaten over wekend by me dp and dd, instead of lots of us..BUT am well into my wii fit right now!, so am gunna go for the burn this morning!..its totally fab and the boxing/hoola hoopung is really tonight my legs and abck up!..hope youo're doing good too!?..have a good day girls.xxx

Stayingsunnygirl · 28/01/2009 17:18

It's been a while (a long while ) since I first posted on this thread, but I lost all motivation, and have had bouts of half-hearted attempts to eat sensibly, interspersed with periods of eating lots of all the wrong stuff.

BUT things may be looking up a bit - I have finally started going to the gym again. Last year I went 3 times a week for over a month, and lost over a stone, but then house move, depression, christmas and a sore knee got in the way and it was far easier to think of reasons not to go than to get off my bottom and actually go.

So far this week I've been twice - and done 40+ minutes of the treadmill and exercise bike plus 20 lengths of the pool - but I am so worried that I won't be able to keep it up. My knee is still sore (sometimes I can hardly walk) and I'm worried that if I don't do something soon, I'm going to end up housebound and almost disabled by my weight.

RGPargy · 28/01/2009 21:28

hi Sunny

I think half the battle with the gym is not the actual doing it, but the actual GOING! You get into such a habit of NOT going that it's hard to get back into it. When i was slim after losing 7.5stones i used to be hooked on teh gym. i used to go 5 times a week, sometimes 6. I'd love to be like that again (i've put all the weight back on!) but practically it's just not possible.

Hope you get your knee sorted out. Do you think it's worth a visit to the doc?

OP posts:
Stayingsunnygirl · 28/01/2009 23:12

I'm going to make an appointment to see the sports physio based at the gym - I suspect the doctor will just say it's wear and tear due to my weight, but the physio will help me to find exercises to help my knee and help me lose weight.

The last time I had this problem I was walking the boys to and from school - 20 minutes morning and afternoon - and went to the doctor hoping he'd help me with my knee so I could at least carry on doing that, if not going to the gym as well - but he did absolutely nothing, beyond telling me it was my weight and I needed to slim down.

RGPargy · 29/01/2009 12:53

It's so annoying when doctors say that, isn't it. I mean, we know that obviously our joints are going to be suffering a little but what we actually want to know how to fix it and not be told "you're overweight".

An old GP of mine used to drive me mad because i'd go to her with an ailment and all she'd say was "well you have put on alot of weight, haven't you?" and that was it! No matter what the problem was, that was all she would say!!

Hope it gets sorted for you soon tho.
