Just seen this advertised in National Press.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Is it pricey?

More to the point, Does it really work?

I'm intrigued..... I had never heard of this programme before...

hi fazza, how did your first week go? has it been hard? i havent started yet, hoping for the beginning of august

QUEBY · 31/07/2010 00:18

I've been fighting the flab for long enough and tried enough methods to have learned one thing.....EAT LESS MOVE MORE.....As one doctor said to me - 'nobody came out of Belsen fat!' Any 'quick fix'method will work in the short term but the only long term benefit is for the people selling then!

fazza71 · 02/08/2010 13:10

Hi Fruitcake, have been on it for 2 weeks so far and have lost 15 lbs. Now down to a steady weight loss of 3-4 lbs per week.

It's worth giving it a go. You pay weekly and not upfront so if you find that it doesn't work you just stop going. People that say it doesnt work are the ones that haven't tried it!

The thing that makes it expensive is the skin treatment and the ultrasound.

You could lose a great deal of weight with weight watchers or slimming world etc and then need surgery to get rid of excess skin. This treatment just deals with that as you lose weight.

Good luck

fruitcake27 · 02/08/2010 14:10

Hi Fazza, wow 15lbs is great - is that average or did you lose it really quickly?

I have been on it since yesterday (i know, a whole 1.5 days!) and i have to say, the packets really aren't settling well with me. I tried the omelette last night, but could only manage a mouthful as I was so nauseous. The soups are a little better, but I still can't eat a whole packet. Same with the drinks, the desserts... nothing sits well, and I feel ill every time I eat.

I've got no energy at all, I look knackered from the moment I wake up.. I'm going to be so angry & disappointed if I give this up, not only because of the hundreds of pounds i've forked out, but I know this will work if I can just get on with it.

does anyone have any help? im so annoyed with myself, why can't i like it lol

lilocas · 02/08/2010 18:31

Keep at it. Make the meals work for you. Perhaps pizza and top it up with mushrooms or hot choc is really nice. I had the same problem and 4 months later am now on phase 2 and 50lbs lighter. What sort of foods do you like? I miss carbs terribly. I make dough balls with the pizza base all the time... It's hard but worth it

fruitcake27 · 02/08/2010 19:28

thank you. i need some encouragement i think!
yeah i live for carbs - not overly fussed about meat, but pasta, potatoes, bread.. i'll have to get the pizza when I go for my treatment on saturday.
i would be so upset if i quit, but it's SO hard. i'd rather not eat than eat the packets. i've only had 4 today (well not a whole 4 actually.. half a soup and 3/4 of the hot choc - it was lumpy), and I really cannot face a 5th one.
i like the sound of the pasta but you're only allowed it max 3 times a week on phase 1.
how long has it taken you to get to phase 2?

lilocas · 03/08/2010 22:19

Pasta is rubbish! You can only have a tiny bit! Make the hot choc with cold water ( make everything with cold water) and then warm it upon the microwave. No lumps that way. The choc pancake is delish. If you don't like the food have veg and then pudding. Try the lemon desert or the bitter choc. They are v nice. I sometimes have rubharb with oatmeal on top and put it in the oven for 10 mins. It makes the oatmeal crispy and it's different. I was at btw when you went to the info eve. I think I was sitting next to you. Good luck, keep at it!!

giggles291066 · 08/08/2010 11:59

Hi, I have my first consultation at the Leeds clinic on the 27th.

Can anyone please tell me what to expect, what they will do, will I have to strip off etc.

I am 8 stone away from my ideal BMI weight, but my target weight is to lose half of that to begin with and then take it from there. Do you choose your target weight and tell them what you want to lose or do they insist you have to go to BMI weight.

Queeniesparkles · 24/09/2010 21:58

Hi everyone
I started this diet on Thursday, after reading all the threads for tips for the foods!
I have 4 stone to lose and apparently will achieve this in about 10 weeks ........
I am really struggling with the packets though - Oatmeal, oriental soup, sheeps cheese, caramel shake, are all vile. I can just about keep down the bacon ommlette and hot choc and pear desert ......
someone please tell me it gets easier!!??
BTW I am at Cheshire clinic, they are all so lovely, its probably enough to make me keep going back !
good luck to you all
xxxxxx

SmileyMylee · 25/09/2010 22:27

It does get easier! I lost 8 stone and have kept it off for the last 9 months.

Buy lots of different types of sachets and try them out till you find ones you like. Check out the recipes on the forum. I hated sheeps cheese until I did the aubergine parmagiani recipe. Try the vanilla desert (hot) with rhubarb - it's like rhubarb and custard - just make it a bit runnier. Make it runnier as a milkshake - it's lovely. Or warm it with a bit of instant coffee and it's like a latte.

Good luck!

notapizzaeater · 27/09/2010 19:45

I made the caramel with 1/2 cup if cold water then added boiling water and drunk it like this.

Same for vanilla but added coffee for a latte.

I quite liked the chicken curry soup as well, hated the omlettes. Just keep swopping till you find ones you like.

I lost 6.7 stone and have kept it off for nearly 3 months.

gteen · 05/10/2010 13:08

hello everyone,

this is my first time on mumsnet... i have been on alizonne now for 2 and a half weeks, have lost 8 kilos so far but it was 6 the first week, then 2! so am i doing something wrong, i wonder? i have 10 stones to lose so this is a big thing for me, in lifestyle and of course in money! but i really want to do it and so want to know if i am doing it correctly...

i have a couple of questions which i'm hoping some of you have been on it longer could help me with?

  1. at the moment, i am having the first sachet late in the day and then also having the last one late at night - is this wrong?
  1. i tend to have the first sachet about 55 minutes after getting up (they say 30 mins) because i want to shower first etc. should i have the sachet before i shower?

3.i am drinking a lot of lemon tea each day and find it really helps me get through the rough patches. but lemons do have carbs so is this not ok? i am using one thick slice of a lemon for 3 cups of tea to cut down the amount. what do you think?

i am at the nottingham clinic where they are very nice BUT i don't think they've been doing it long and they don't seem able to answer these questions definitively. so i thought i would ask all of you as some of you seem to know a lot about it...

in general, i am finding it ok, and i'm not hungry but i am missing the social side of food and the rituals involved in cooking it etc.. so i'm going to try to keep going!
thanks for any help...

l4k · 10/10/2010 12:10

hello gteen
I cant help from experience but I'm very interested in what you think of the notts clinic and doctor as I am seriously considering doing this.My biggest problem is I live about 2 hours from leeds clinic and notts is about 15 mins closer so very difficult to fit in with 4 kids.
I hope someone will come along and help you soon,if not ,I thought there was an alizonne forum you get access to?maybe they can help.
good luck and keep us postedSmile

lilocas · 11/10/2010 21:46

I lost a lot the first week and then after that I lost an average of 2.6 pounds per week. Some weeks only 1 pound while others up to 4 pounds. I was told no fruit at all including no fruit tea.
In the eve I was told not to eat 2 hrs before bed. So if you are having a sachet at 9pm you shouldn't go to bed till 11pm.

Hope this helps.

SmileyMylee · 12/10/2010 20:46

I've lost 9 stones on the diet and have kept it off for 9 months now so for some people it does work.

Re your questions:

  • I used to have my first sachet 1 hour after waking, it never did me any harm.
  • I was told to have my last sachet 2 hours before bed, however I normally had my last sachet (hot chocolate) as my bedtime drink, again - seemed to work for me.
  • I can't imagine a slice of lemon is a big deal. I used to often put a squirt of lemon into my salad dressings each day.
  • re weight loss - I lost loads first week (but mainly fluid not fat at the beginning.) - after this it was 1 - 2 kg per week. Some weeks I lost nothing, but generally had a bigger loss the following week, depended where I was on my cycle. You really need to look at it month by month and not just week by week.
2 kg is a good weekly weight loss. It is the 6kg which is exceptional!!!

Good luck with the diet - you do have to put your social life on hold, but I went from a size 26 to a now a size 12 in just over six months. It is hard work keeping it off as I know if I return to my old habits it will just come on again. My brain still hasn't really adjusted, when shopping I still gravitate towards baggy tunics and elasticated waists and I have to remind myself that I have other options now!!!

GardenT · 30/10/2010 18:48

I have been on Alizonne diet for several months now and had my ups and downs, however the most important thing - I have now reached my target. I lost 6,5 stone which I put after childbirth and no diet could even shif it for about 15 years! Alizonne diet was the only thing that worked and it worked very well. I am a much happier human being than before, as you can imagine, having gone from size 24-26 to size 14. But now that I have reached stabilisation phase - phase 8, there is a worry - would I put it all back again or not.SmileyMylee almost answered my question - well-done for keeping you weight off for 9 months - this gives me some hope. A lot of people on this forum are in the middle of Alizonne treatment, but are there people like SmileyMylee - people who have been through it and who could share their experience of what happens next, after you are out in a big world again? Would be very grateful if you could post your comments.

l4k · 31/10/2010 08:30

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you that have done this could tell me,is there anything you wish you'd known before you started? I am booked in for bloods on the 9th then start on the 11th november.I can't wait, but should I try to get a head start by doing slim fast or similar in the meantime? I have about 2 and 1/2 stones to lose.
thanks for any experiences or advice.

SmileyMylee · 31/10/2010 23:46

GardenT,

After finishing the diet, I initially went back to my old habits and put a bit of weight back on. This frightened me sufficiently to think again. I then decided to be sensible during the week, pretty much staying to phase 8 eating and at weekends allow myself some wine, or a curry or something (basically not worrying about what I ate.)

I would check my weight once a month and if it crept up I would cut down a bit or up my exercise a bit.

Basically you tend not to be 9 stone overweight because you love salads too much. Also when you've lost the weight your metabolic rate does go down, so you can't even eat as much as you used to.

On holidays I try to cut back for a few weeks before I go and then cut back for a few weeks after and doing this more or less keep on track. The key is to accept you can't go back to all your bad habits, but you can allow yourself to eat your favourites once a week. And just not let it keep creeping up. If it starts to go up, just cut back a bit.

SmileyMylee · 31/10/2010 23:52

l4k,

don't do slim fast. Just make sure you have some of your favourite foods before you start.

Make sure you buy more than 5 boxes for your first week as you might not like your choices (the strawberry milkshake is awful)

You'll be tired the first week, so make things easy for yourself - ready made salads etc. Also get onto the forum and look up the recipes and see what takes your fancy.

When you get the recipe book - make things in bulk and freeze them for when you can't be bothered cooking. I lived on roghan josh.

Also it's still rhubarb season, buy loads, stew it and freeze it. I had it often when I needed something sweet (I had it with splenda and a bit of fat free natural yoghurt.

2.5 stones won't take long to shift.

l4k · 01/11/2010 09:02

thanks for your advice smiley

gteen-I'm also going to notts, how are you getting on?

GardenT · 02/11/2010 21:22

Thank you, SmileyMylee,

I think I am quite capable to do that, my only worry was that I my body is getting addicted to Alizonne diet and I would put on weight whatever I eat. Your experience gives me hope! Thanks again.

GardenT

I have been very interested in reading all your comments, and stumbled across your thread after seeing an advertisement for Alizonne in the Yorkshire Life Magazine. I imagine that many of you are young parents, I'm 56 years old and I wonder if anyone knows if this regime works on older people!!
If anyone over 50 has joined, please let me know.

Llady · 28/11/2010 22:12

Hi,
Could you tell me what you think of Nottingham?
Thanks

sisterdew · 04/12/2010 19:05

Hi, I've only recently heard of Alizonne and am interested in starting it, but I am a celiac (wheat&gluten intolerant) so need to know if there are wheat free sachets or do all the meal replacements contain wheat?

Any info from anyone who is/has been on this diet would be appreciated!

Nottinghamalizonne · 09/12/2010 16:14
