Just seen this advertised in National Press.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Is it pricey?

More to the point, Does it really work?

I'm intrigued..... I had never heard of this programme before...

Again - thank you NUFC - will make sure I follow that then!

I bet you can't believe it's nearly over for you! (in a way!) does it seem like yesterday when you first started? Have you re trained your mind do you think? where are you going on holiday? Have you got a new wardrobe of clothes to take with you? :0)

I have 4 stone to lose! I put on half a stone in the lead up to my appt as I just ate everything I loved before I started ;0D they've got their work cut out with me haven't they ;0D they say I "should" be in the higher rate of losing as I have a high metabolic rate ( I always thought it was low) so I presume it will be about Xmas time??? How long has it taken you? Xxx

Floozy, I too just gave up before I started and I put on lbs as well. They told me 22 - 28 weeks to lose what I wanted (which, tbh, is probably a higher weight than you want to get to, as I said previously as I am older it a) takes longer and b) will make me look haggard if I go too low). I will actually take about 25 weeks, I think. That has got me into a size 14 which at the start was just a dream (I was anything from 22-24 Shock. I found that at first I didn't seem to go down quickly between the sizes but it has escalated the lower I have got.

We are off to the States - yippee - starting in California (Santa Rosa), off to Lake Tahoe and then down to Scottsdale in Arizona. Yes, I have got a fair number of new clothes, although I had hung on to some things which I couldn't bear to get rid of when I lost a lot of weight about six years ago.

I can't tell you how much better I feel and I wish there had been something like this when I was younger (I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism for many, many years, though). We have my toddler grandson one day a week and it is great to be able to chase around after him.

Hazel - I will keep on updating how I get on - I have only a couple of kg to go now, so it is all a matter of control. The Silverlink Clinic seem to take maintenance very seriously and I intend to keep on going for as long as it takes.

Hi there
I've been on the Alizonne programme for four weeks and I've lost almost a stone. I only have about a stone and a half to lose in total but I was finding traditional diets very difficult because I'm menopausal. As it is it's taking longer than the clinic originally estimated (about twice as long) which is disappointing. I'm also finding that my mood has been effected by the diet and I feel quite low. I can't say I don't feel hungry either! Everyone else seems to be having a super time on this - is there anyone with some advice from me. I'm delighted with the weight loss (even though it's more slow than they said) but I am finding it emotionally very very difficult. Help!

NUFC69 · 25/08/2013 19:16

Secretsara - sorry to hear that you are feeling depressed; my guess is that it is to do with being menopausal, as opposed to the diet. I am not sure what to say to you, as I am never hungry and my mood has just improved all the time with the weight I have lost - I mean that I just feel so much better physically that it has lifted my mood, but then I had a lot of weight to lose. All the things I would say to you (and obviously I am not an expert), are the same as the clinic is saying: are your timings right?, are you drinking your water?, are you having a good range of the vegetables?

I am post menopausal and have hypothroidism as I said; I do think it gets harder to lose weight the older you are. I am just glad that I found out about Alizonne in time for it to help me. Good luck!

Thanks. Well I wasn't feeling blue before I started the diet! I think it's just from having so few calories and I'm not reacting as well as hoped. I don't suppose it's easy for everyone and it's definitely slower if you're older and if you have less weight to lose. At least I'm over half way there now.I just wondered if it was only me.

Just had a weekend camping with friends and that took some organising, making sure I had enough sachets and water, I even went out for a meal with the crowd and told the chef I was vegan, so he made me a loverly salad, it was nice not to have been left out, though it was a real struggle watching everyone down their wine when I was on sparkling water. Anyway needless to say all went well over the weekend, am loving the chocolate pancake for breakfast. Feel like I've lost a bit so will have a cheeky weigh in tomorrow and let you know. GOOD LUCK ALL

NUFC I bet you can't believe you're so much lighter AND going to the states! What a fab "losing weight" prezzie!!! ;0D that's gave me an idea to start hinting to my hubby ;0D your hollibob sounds amazing - well jell!!!! You'll have to pm me all about it!!!!

Easteregg - again another inspiration - I'm starting my first sachets tomorrow and to be honest am feeling a bit depressed thinking my life as I know it is over!!!! But camping??? And out for a meal??? Perhaps it won't be so restricting after all??? Thank you! Xxx

Floozysoozy - you're right, just can't wait now for next week. I go for my last treatment on Thursday, so fingers crossed everything is ok. Good luck with the sachets today (and tomorrow, and the next day ...).

Well done, Easteregg, that must have taken some organisation. Let us know how you got on today,

My hubby and I are thinking of doing this together at Newcastle we returned from holiday today and are disgusted with ourselves, we have thought about a gastric balloon or this and called today for information. I am encouraged by the fact so many people loose about 1 stone per month. Anyone care to comment?

Report
NUFC69 · 27/08/2013 18:30

Floozysoozy - I have never done it, so I don't know; however, when I occasionally make a shake to take with me (usually orange and pineapple), it separates before I drink it - but shakes in again, if you see what I mean.

WeeGeordie - I have been attending the Newcastle Silverlink Clinic and have lost my five stone over just more than 5 months, so it is doable (and definitely will be for your DH, as men lose it more quickly than we do!). As I said previously the staff at Silverlink are lovely. You do need to be completely committed, though. (Mind you, the cost concentrates the mind wonderfully!).

I am positive that I wouldn't have tried any kind of gastric surgery - there are some threads on here that you might find useful; the thought of it scares me. Good luck on whatever you decide.

When I was thinking about doing the diet, I decided that I would just devote my life to it - my DD was pregnant at the time and I thought, well if you can give up your life for nine months to do that - what was five months of my life to enable me to be happier and healthier. I feel absolutely marvellous and can't keep smiling at the compliments I get.

Well done, Easteregg. I go to the clinic tomorrow night which will be my last treatment before we go away and when I come back I should be on phase 8 for my next visit at the end of August. Am feeling very apprehensive about it all.

Well I am off for my second week's weigh in tomorrow. I am very apprehensive that I may have messed things up this week. However, I felt similar last week and found that I had lost 7.5 lbs!!! I was so pleased and that was still drinking tea but with skimmed milk (down from about 15 cups a day to 3). Now I have managed to cut out the tea - the headaches were terrible - and now feel ok.
If you fancy a laugh - I had to work on Sunday night and Monday so only got about 3.5 hours's sleep and set off on Monday morning to attend to clients for what I thought would be 2 - 3 hours (so took one shake extra with me) and ended up being at work - but not in my office for 11 hours! I was so tired and hungry that I ended up dealing with an incident which involved speaking to a police officer and I started crying!!!!!! Luckily she was very understanding but you do find that people offer you a quick fix of a biscuit!!!
Then today ..... I hadn't managed to take my vitamins before I left home and so took them to work. There are quite a few as you know so I was taking them one at a time with water when I got to the last one, which got stuck in my throat. It unfortunately came back up and I managed to contain everything ... and then attempted to swallow it again - this time not so successfully in that it made a reappearance, together with lots of water, and several other dissolving vitamin tablets and went all over me, my desk and the papers I was working on. Talk about dignified!!!!!
I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow - finger's crossed.

Hello Alizonners - Thinking of starting at the Liverpool branch - seen a few posters asking if anyone is there, but no replies... Does anyone actually go there? What's it like? I'm waiting for a call back to see if I can have a regular Saturday slot as I often work away in the week and will struggle with a weekly slot. Anyone had any joy?

NUFC69 · 31/08/2013 21:09

Sorry, Beccie, I can't help (Newcastle) - hopefully someone will come along soon for you. Good luck when you start. I found that I booked a block of appointments in one go and then it was no problem for me, but weekends might be more difficult, I guess.

I'm on day 2 now after finally getting started! I think it's more just getting used to it being different more than anything - am I right? Does it get better or worse with time??? Just had the phial in sparkling water and I couldn't taste it at all!!!! Very happy about that!!!
Easteregg - how you getting on??? Xxx

Floozy - can't remember what the figures were, but I weighed at home this morning and was 170 gr from my target weight! Hallelujah! What they have actually done with me is put me on phase 5, which means only one sachet a day (the fourth one of the day). Breakfast the same as phase 3, ie porridge or weetabix with a bit of milk, mid morning an orange or some grapefruit, lunch - salad with a little bit of chicken, tuna or egg, sachet next and then all vegetables and still limited meat or fish. That's a very brief run down - I am sure there are things which I have forgotten. I am going for another treatment on the 30th September and then my "final" appointment a week later. It will make it much easier for me when we are away - we go on Tuesday, by the way.

It does get much easier with time and, tbh, I can't imagine changing back to the way I was eating before - even allowing for the fact that the variety is better now. I have learnt two important things: 1 - eat every three hours so that you never get hungry, and 2 - drink plenty of water all the time. I am just a totally different person to who I was five months ago (DH says it's lovely having his old wife back - and he says there are all sorts of benefits! - read what you want into that Wink) I soon learnt always to take the phial after I had eaten my food - otherwise it just came straight back up again. I will try to get back on tomorrow - keep up the good work.

Janet. I struggle with the supplements they make me throw up. What I do now is make up a batch of chocolate mousse from the recipe book and cover the tablets in the mousse, choc mousse for breakfast is not ideal but I make it up the night before and it seems to work or me. GOOD LUCK.

I haven't reported back after my weigh in last Thursday, probably because I was very disappointed. I'd only lost 0.8 kg which I think is about 1.75 lbs. I talked it through with the therapist/nurse and she said that it can happen like that but also probably because I have been rather "bunged up"! I had been trying the rhubarb cure but to no avail. She recommended Movicol which I bought and is expensive and disgusting but seemed to do the trick after a few days. I find it difficult to believe that that was the only reason though. I've been really dispondent this week though still managing to carry on. The main problem I have is keeping to the 3 hour schedule. My job just doesn't allow me to eat every 3 hours and as for drinking the water when you don't have regular access to the loo is a problem too.
I just hope this week's weigh in is more uplifting but I don't feel that i have lost much.
Will just have to wait and see.
Thanks for your support everyone.
