Well done Donbeam!
Christie I think the more fronts you can fight the weight war on, the better! I'm doing SW, going to the gym AND seeing a therapist. And if it hadn't been for the miscarriage which has set me back a bit I reckon I would be buying size 12s by now. But, hopefully will get there in July, or maybe August...

Well its working so thats all im bothered about.
Ive got about 20/24 lbs to loose but im doing the same as you and giving myself mini targets.

marj · 13/05/2005 21:03

Well done Donbeam! I hope that I can do as well as you are!

emily05 · 13/05/2005 21:09

hello, wondered if I could quiz you expert slimming world gals a question:

I need to loose LOADS of weight (about 7 stone at least) and need a diet that is going to be good long term (slow and steady). Slimming world seems ideal. The problem is it seems too good to be true. I have the book and you seem to be able to eat a lot.

Does it work? I havent been able to read all this thread, just curious. thanks

Is their a link to the book on amazon that anyone can give me?

Tommy · 14/05/2005 12:48

Emily - my sister has lost over 4 stone with SW since last summer. She has got a bit more to go but it's obviously working for her.
I think you can only buy the books at the meetings or from the SW website can't you?

Arabica · 14/05/2005 23:23

Compo, you can't buy the SW books, you have to join and then they are given to you.
If you want an idea of how it works SW magazine's quite good or check out the website.

assumpta · 16/05/2005 13:34

Can someone please tell me about quorn. Can I eat it free on both original and green days? Also what is Food Optimising about? I am not an actual member, but have been following through a friend.

fairydust · 16/05/2005 19:53

Another 1lb this week so that's 8lb in two week

Arabica · 16/05/2005 20:00

Hi assumpta, yes you can have some quorn products as often as you want on either day. For more info visit the SW website.

Arabica · 16/05/2005 20:01

Well done Fairydust! I've had a bad weekend and am trying to make today Syn-free to compensate.

marj · 16/05/2005 21:35

Well done Fairydust! Have just had my first weigh in and lost 2.5lbs so am kind of pleased although was expecting more.

Having said that I have never eaten so much food on the first week of a "diet" before. Am enjoying the plan too, all green days for me as I am a carb fan and dont eat that much meat.

wow - that is fab well done

Tabs · 16/05/2005 22:46

Hi Ladies - mind if I join in? Just found this thread and would be fantastic to have lots of other ladies to talk to about SW.

I'm doing it for the second time - lost 2.5 stone on it in 2000, but put masses of weight on since then, so joined again in Jan this year.

Have lost 2 stone 5 lbs since then, and still enjoying it. Long way to go still, but I figure that every bit of weight I lose will help with my fertility, which is my main aim in life at the moment!

BethAndHerBrood · 17/05/2005 17:06

Does anyone have a syn free or low syn recipe for houmous??? Really love it at the moment!!!!

Tommy · 17/05/2005 17:14

saw one around somewhere beth - I think it was just chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, pepper, and a bit of fat free dressing stuff - I think. Could be wrong but I'll see if I can find it again

Tabs · 17/05/2005 17:38

Here are a couple. Think I used the first one, but found it needed a little fat free natural yoghurt too to loosen it.

1 can chickpeas
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
blended in a food processor

19 ounce canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped, plus a sprig for garnish
1 - garlic head
1/8 teaspoon paprika, for garnish
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
2 tablespoon water, or as needed

BethAndHerBrood · 17/05/2005 17:44

Thank you very much!!! Going out tomorrow to buy a lemon and some yoghurt!!!
