Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

Well I am going to carry on until Sunday other than my dinner with friend tomorrow night though I am only doing a Gillian Mckeith recipe so hardly going overboard!

Might have to have a small glass of wine with it, (just to be sociable of course.)

I wasn't doing this to lose weight as am already a size 8 but I was fed up of feeling lethargic and tired all the time. Also am feeling a lot less bloated.

Haven't been to the loo though?

spokette · 15/10/2008 13:37

Poshtottie, are you drinking lots of water? I went to the toilet every day and I did not use the supplements he recommended to help move the bowels. If your bowels are not moving, drink prune juice or eat some prunes. That will get your bowels working overtime!

think i am going to go for this once half term is over

will give me the enrgy to get through the term!!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 16/10/2008 06:03

Ok, so am juicing DAY 1. So far i have had 4 juices (lots and lots) - it's now 3.30pm and I must admit to feeling pretty hungry a couple of hours after a juice also tired and headachy. Am off to pick dd up from nursery and will walk but am slightly concerned I will collapse in the park and all will be humiliating.

Is it important to stick to certain recipes or can I just bung in whatever I like? So far I have had a load of fruit and veg in fairly random mixes. Is that ok?

Does Jason Vale tell you to stick to certain quantities? I feel like I am drinking vast amounts of juice - is that ok?

Good luck Chuffinell, go for it girl. I have a lunch thingy on Saturday so will have to modify my reigmen a bit but hopefully will be able to stick to salads. No wine eeeeeeeeek!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 16/10/2008 06:04

Am going to the loo lots - no problem there for me

poshtottie · 16/10/2008 07:34

Claudia, yes Jason Vale does tell you to stick to certain quantities for each juice. He says his plan can be varied but for maximum weightloss and to get the right nutrients to try and stick to the plan. Are you adding wheatgrass, spirulina, and a probiotic to yours?

I only had four of the five juices yesterday. I don't seem to need the last one. Had one with yogurt and banana yesterday and it was delicious.

chuffinell · 16/10/2008 12:46

thanks Claudia and Spokette (thou i suspect Spokette is married to that Jason man who sells the juice diet or has shares in the company!!)

anyway i have bought the book, waiting delivery, and am checking out juicers - has anyone tried that tesco value one? its only £4.99, but think i wd prefer one that you can put whole apples etc in

it was my birthday this week so i am troughing my way throu chocs washed down with baileys....once they are all gone, its juice, juice, juice!!

Lizzylou · 16/10/2008 13:16

Chuffinell, I wouldn't go for the Value one tbh, I think it's only for citrus.
See if they still have the Tesco one that should be £39.99 at halfprice, I got mine for £19.99.
Go for it, it's been nearly two days and I feel lighter. Not really been hungry, although it is hard making food for the DC's!!!

spokette · 16/10/2008 14:44

Chuffinell, don't buy the cheap one because you will regret it.

Not married to Jason Vale I'm afraid and tbh, he is not my type. No shares in company either.

Just someone who has found a lifestyle that really works for her.

Good luck and when you start to feel and see the results, you will be evangelising too!

Wonderful, Lizzylou. Wait until you get to day 4 and you will really feel and see the difference in terms of inches on waist and hips.

Hmmmm done day one, just waking up now ready for day 2 and d'you know what . . . I do feel slightly lighter. Haven't weighed myself but my jeans aren't gripping quite so tightly. HURRAH!

|So Spokette do you reckon it takes 4 days to really kick in?

Don't you feel that weight loss takes ages. I always find that once I decide to lose weight I feel it should all drop off immediately, not take weeks and weeks.

I do feel slightly lightheaded tho, hunger I suppose.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 17/10/2008 03:57

Hello, half way through day 2 and I am having wild and crazy mood swings. Am getting FURIOUS with people. Is this normal or not? Like, right now, I've just had some juice and I feel like a right ratty old mare. Really really cross. Which isn't really like me. Will go and read my book, see if crazy bitch is one of the side effects.

chuffinell · 17/10/2008 11:45

got the book now, it arrived super quick, just need time to read it!

thank you all for the recommendations, i will steer clear of the cheapo juicer and look at the other tesco one

im encouraged by Claudias jeans but a bit worried about your mood swings - i have only just got my pmt under control!

cant wait to start evangelising too spokette if i lose half a stone by Christmas i will ask santa to send you a prezzie!

spokette · 17/10/2008 12:30

Chuffinell, follow the plan 7 day 7lb plan and you will lose half stone in a week! Continue with the turbo charge plan, you will lose a stone in 3-4 weeks!! The best thing about it, is that the weight will stay off because you have modified your eating patterns (well that is my experience).

ClaudiaSchiffer, I did not have mood swings so cannot comment I'm afraid.

I have just returned from 2 hours at the gym and I am just full of energy

Best of luck everyone!

OH. MY. GOD.

I know I probably shouldn't but I weighed myself this morning and have lost 7 1/2 lbs in 3 days.

No wonder I feel wierd. I don't think it's fat tho, but I am definately less bloated and have a flatter tummy so I think all this juice has got rid of all the stodge I've been carrying about.

7lbs! Farkin hell! Am flabbergasted.

UniversallyChallenged · 17/10/2008 22:48

Thanks for all the success stories! Have clicked on the link and bought his book = will get a juicer tomorrow.

Is there a list of staple ingredients i will need that are always used?

spokette · 17/10/2008 22:51

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Fantastic. Now that is what I call an incentive to do the whole 7 days.

Keep going Claudia. You have made my evening!!!

DH is taking me out tomorrow evening for a meal so I have made up a batch of the detox juice and the pineapple/apple/banana/natural yogurt smoothie to have throughout the day. That way I can eat without worrying about extra pounds. That is the beauty of this eating lifestyle. You can still eat what you like without piling on the pounds as long as you compensate for the extras elsewhere. I just need to choose which of my new dresses and shoes to wear!(lol)

spokette · 17/10/2008 22:54

Universallychallenged.

Staple ingredients are apples (red gala and/or golden delicious), pineapple, celery, spinach, cucumber and avocado.

Good luck!

UniversallyChallenged · 17/10/2008 22:55

Fsb, thanks Spokette - have fun tomorrow!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 18/10/2008 11:54

Finished day 3 and starting to feel really good. The mood swings have gone, although I do feel a bit 'wired'. I definately have more energy and have been on a really long walk today.

Jeans are definately looser now - may start having to wear a belt again soon! Huzzah and hurrah!

Hope the meal out is good spokette. Good luck the rest of you. Spokette how much have you lost in total?

Lizzylou · 18/10/2008 12:54

I'm on day 4 and have lost 5lbs!
I have been battling headaches and yesterday found it very hard not to scoff something "solid" but my clothes feel baggier, my tummy is flatter and I feel good.
I'm also enjoying my juices!
Spokette, I am so glad I found this thread.
Thankyou!

Well done Claudia, although why do you need to lose weight, you are a supermodel?

poshtottie · 18/10/2008 13:25

Hi Ladies,

Well done to everyone who has lost weight. I have also dropped a few pounds though I didn't weigh myself before and after I feel less bloated and my clothes are loose.

I have had a light dinner in the evenings and am juicing in the day. Also avoiding bread which I know is making me bloated.

Universallychallenged, you can download from his website the shopping list. In advance you could get the spirulina, wheatgrass and powergreens from a health food shop.

I have also been caffeine free now for six days.

spokette · 18/10/2008 15:29

Well done everyone. You are doing so well.

I have lost 17lb in total. Only wanted to lose 7lb originally and after reaching that target, 10lb!!

I'm giving myself plenty of leeway for Christmas (lol).

reikimarie · 18/10/2008 17:24

I am planning to start this diet next Wed, do you think it would matter if I still drank say three cups of tea daily with organic soya milk?

Just wondering.

UniversallyChallenged · 18/10/2008 19:27

Got my juicer and thanks to that recipe you posted Spokette I had my first juice thhis eve! Was so lovely.
Havent yet got the book so if you have any other recipes that you could post I would really appreciate it! Also do you drink 3 juices a day or do you have more?

Thanks

poshtottie · 18/10/2008 20:46

reikimarie, you wouldn't get the full detox effect but its up to you. I have now given up coffee.

Universallychallenged, there is five juices per day though you may not feel like having all of them. The most I managed was four. It was the 8pm one that I didn't have. Just wasn't hungry so had an early night instead.
