Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

Idobelieveinghosts, Yes a juicer is different from a blender/smoothie maker though I think you need to have both.

You say you hate veg but they taste very different when juiced. I had a carrot, apple, celery and ginger juice (finally dusted off my juicer) yesterday and it was lovely.

idobelieveinghosts · 08/10/2008 15:56

Ok well i have a blender already so at least thats one thing.

Yes i hate veg...i guess this is the perfect time to try it then! Will give it all a try

Is there anything else i need? want to be prepared before the book arrives.

poshtottie · 13/10/2008 07:33

Well I am starting today though I am only going until Thursday as have a friend over for dinner.

Have just had my hot water and lemon and am off to make my first juice. I then have to go get the alfalfa sprouts as were sold out on Saturday.

Had a bad night with ds so am feeling knackered already.

spokette · 13/10/2008 08:48

Best of luck poshtottie! Just take it one day at a time.

If you are having a friend over for dinner on Thursday, have juices all day and just eat a small portion of the meal in the evening (try to limit the carbs)and then carry on with programme until Sunday. You will still lose lots of weight. Also, if you incorporate cardio exercise, that will compensate for your meal on Thursday.

I was visiting family over the weekend and over-indulged a bit so I am just having juices for today and then juices for breakfast/lunch Tuesday -Thursday and a light meal in the evening.

Let us know how you get on!

I've been doing this - it's great isn't it!

I feel so good, not hungry and really healthy. I was a little concerned about nutrition so I've been eating a salad in the evenings but I'm going to move onto the 7 day plan this week.

I can't fit in all the juices either.

What's your favourite? I think I like the super-chute best.

arfishy · 13/10/2008 09:37

Oh, and isn't the hot water with lemon great? I was a bit when I read about them but they're incredibly refreshing and a great start to the day. Just as good as tea for me and much better for you.

spokette · 13/10/2008 11:21

Arfishy, juicing is absolutely wonderful. My cousin introduced me to juicing. She had lost a stone in three weeks and went from a siz 14 to size 12. It has completely changed her approach to eating and nutrition. This is a way of life for me now and it is so easy.

My favourite juice is the turbo charge one. I can survive on just that because it is so filling as well as healthy. My other favourite juice is the warm apple juice with cinnamon. I find that really refreshing and comforting.

Good luck with the 7 day programme!

That's the good thing about it isn't it - you feel so healthy.

I've got the juices on my profile from another thread funnily enough - I agree that the avocado ones are lovely, they're like thick shakes almost.

poshtottie · 13/10/2008 15:45

I've just had the super chute and it was delicious.

I just need someone to clean my juicer afterwards.

I'm feeling a bit headachy this pm but I don't feel hungry.

iamamummy · 13/10/2008 22:12

hi ladies

just to let you know i managed to lost 6lbs last week, have had a break for today with the juicing but starting again tomorrow.

i have over 2 stone to lose so hence why i am doing another week of juicing then after that i can hopefully graduate to just juicing during the day and healthy evening meal.

poshtottie · 14/10/2008 07:37

imamummy, well done.

I am starving this morning and have a raving headache. I have a very high metabolism so get hungry very quickly and will see how I get on today. Might have to have a banana.

spokette · 14/10/2008 08:54

Well done iamamummy. That is fantastic amount of weight to lose!.

Poshtottie, drink lots of juice because they will fill you up. Also, try having one of the juices with avocado because they are very filling. If that does not satiate you, have a large banana!

Good luck!

well i might give this a go, which book do you recommend buying the 7 day 7lb one? I am bfing though so will have to check it out properly first, i am 12 3lbs and max recommended weight for my height is 11 7lb, i have lost all sense of portion size and eat like a horse so it might be the break that helps

i have a juicer and a blender and never use the juicer

ClaudiaSchiffer · 14/10/2008 09:37

wow I've just read this thread and am amazed! It sounds fab. Arfishy do you know can you get the book in Oz? I am inspired by you all. I totally love fruit and veg so this will suit me no en.

spokette · 14/10/2008 15:11

Littleducks, I started with the 7lb in 7 days. I was always sceptical about things like this but after seeing the success that my cousin had, I gave it ago and have not looked back!

I lost 16lb in 4 weeks and tbh, the last 4lb I lost without even trying. Juicing has curtailed my appetite, I no longer snack and I eat smaller portions. I love juicing!! It is healthy and you feel full of vitality.

The great thing about this lifestyle is that if I overindulge like I did at the weekend, I just have juices for a couple of days to compensate. My cousin went on holiday, put on 4lb, juiced for a week and lost 7lb!!

Last week I spent £200 just on shoes to go with the new outfits that I bought and because I feel so good about what I have achieved. DH keeps telling me how wonderful I look so that is another great motivator.

OK, another new recruit here Spokette.
I need to lose at least a stone, bu I think I wil stick to it better if I just do 2 juices for breakfast/lunch then a light main meal. I want it to be part of my lifestyle.

BTW, Tesco's have Juicers reduced, there's one reduced from £40 to £20 (Tesco's own) and a Value one for £4.99.
To show my commitment, I've got the £20 one.

poshtottie · 14/10/2008 16:21

Well I had to resort to taking something for my headache. It is the worse headache I have ever had. I haven't been able to do any exercise. Maybe I should have done a gradual withdrawel from the caffeine, though I only had 2 coffees and 1 tea a day.

arfishy · 15/10/2008 07:57

Claudia - yes, I've got it, from Borders I think. I've not done the full 7 day plan before, have always had a salad in the evening, but I'm going hard core next week.

Beetroot · 15/10/2008 08:11

I have done this in the past and it really does work.

Infact i might do it again as feel very sluggish at present.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 15/10/2008 08:21

Arfishy, I couldn't get the 7lb in 7days book but got something similar. Am starting tomorrow, have got a MOUNTAIN of fruit and veg here all ready to go also bought Psyllium husks and Spirulina. I will be a GODDESS!

This book recommends that you prepare for juicing by having a few days of raw food first - and no meat/fish/dairy/shite either. Did you all do this or did you just go straight into juicing?

poshtottie · 15/10/2008 08:34

I went straight into juicing and now its day three and I feel quite good today. Yesterday was not a good day and I only had 3 out of the 5 juices and I ate some dried apricots as I was cooking supper for ds and was tempted to eat his leftover chicken.

I may even attempt to do some exercise today.

Lizzylou · 15/10/2008 09:33

Had a juice last night for tea, and another for breakfast.
Have got ideas from the website, so far so good.
Will do hardcore until Sunday (IL's 40th wedding anniversary, so can hardly bring my juice!) and then start up again on Monday.
Bugger to clean the juicer though!

arfishy · 15/10/2008 09:58

Claudia - I went straight into it although had been eating a lot of salads and raw foods before. The biggest thing I gave up was bread.

Do you need any of the ingredients or plans?

chuffinell · 15/10/2008 10:17

Right - i am inspired by you all. i am 5ft3 and weigh 11 stone

i do a sitting down office job, but never stop at home

i saw photos of myself last night and was horrified so i am determined to do the juicing plan and lose half a stone by Christmas.

Spokette do you think it would work if i had juice for brekky and lunch then a small portion of normal meal for dinner? i dont want my 3 year old to see me dieting and learn weight issues. i have never heard of those psillium or whatever, do i need them or can i just do fruit and veg?

i need to buy a juicer - will try tesco as recommended above

please can you all support me? i am fed up of bursting out of my jeans!

spokette · 15/10/2008 12:34

Chuffinell, that will definitely work and if you can, really minimise the carbs. You should lose at least 3 or 4lbs in the first week, especially if you incorporate exercise.

ClaudiaSchiffer, I went straight onto the plan, such was my determination after seeing first hand the results from my cousin.

Good luck everyone!
