Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

oh rats, nappyaddict, you're right.

it is cooked.

still, does the job i guess - wonder if putting it in cooked is worse than not putting it in at all - you get the taste, but less nutrients.

LetThemEatCake · 13/11/2008 16:23

okay, photos are on profile. Please bear in mind complete lack of makeup and also terrible hair - have been out in the rain today!

trying to upload back view of LBD but it won't do it - so here is a link to the dress without me in it - just so you can see that it is not quite as plain as it appears from the front.

www.net-a-porter.com/product/31950

am considering different tights too - teal blue maybe?

okay, let me know what you reckon.

mustrunmore · 13/11/2008 16:47

but you are tiny. (I like the patterned dress)

PersephoneSnape · 13/11/2008 16:49

difficult - i like the patterned one better to be honest - at first i thought i liked the LBD, but it looks a bit average and doesn't really do much for you does it have any pattern/frilly bits/beading etc up closer?

You look tall enough - and have a smashing figure - to carry off the 'loud' dress. the only thing i don't really like is the belt - it cuts straight across you and doesn't look like it belongs - is it part of the frock? maybe a belt in a colour thats more prominent in the dress?

Lizzylou · 13/11/2008 17:02

LetThem, why are you worried about weight? You are gorgeous!

I am going completely against the grain here, I like the black dress. Love the tights, but I think that I'd prefer teal tights.

Honestly, I think you'd look good in a binbag!!!

nappyaddict · 13/11/2008 17:02

I like the louder one but think you should wear some tights with it.

Lizzylou · 13/11/2008 17:04

OK, have just looked at your black dress on the link, definitely the black dress.

Love the back of it.

Am and at the price. There's a credit crunch dontcha know???!!!

LetThemEatCake · 13/11/2008 17:31

Lizzylou, I know, I know. It was a one-off. Had a windfall, needed a treat, it was hugely discounted etc etc. And hoped that with it being a very classic piece, would last me a good few years.
I am not always so extravagant.

Lizzylou · 13/11/2008 17:54

You don't have to justify anything to me, just wish I could afford to spend that much on a dress (let alone have anywhere to go to wear it/look any good in it! )

I like the black dress.

Which one do you feel best in?

LetThemEatCake · 13/11/2008 18:27

I think I am with you on the black dress, but with diff tights. I like the patterned dress but think they need a heavier pair of shoes, bandals or gladiators. And can afford a pair of tights by the weekend, but not a pair of shoes!

thanks for your kind comments ladies. I don't feel tiny or gorgeous, that's for sure.

PersephoneSnape · 13/11/2008 19:12

i just bothered to do your link for the black dress. wow!

Huray! Book has arrived! Now I can start in earnest. But the best thing is, I've been doing some juicing whilst waiting for my 'bible' to arrive, and have lost 3lbs this week It takes me under the next stone, which is so good psychologically. Only got 12lbs to lose now. Almost light at the end of the tunnel.

chuffinell · 14/11/2008 13:00

letthemeatcake you are beautiful - i think the lovely patterned dress with the strappy shoes, (but not with the boots)looks great

your wedding pic is also stunning

nappyaddict · 14/11/2008 15:47

LTEC - have you got any red tights? I think they would look fab.

missnatalie · 14/11/2008 18:58

Been into town today and bought my "all singing, alldancing juicer" . 80 blardy quid it cost me!! I could have got a cheaper one but im thinking that because ive paid more ill probably have more iniciative to use it. Also got a free book with it. "the Juice Master over 100 delicious juices and smoothies, keeping it simple".

Went to WH Smith and bought the 7lb in 7 days book too.

Im planning to start the diet on Tuesday as going up north this weekend to my mums and theres no way she'll let me sit drinking juice whilst the rest of family eat hotpot.

So this is my last weekend of eating junk but also

bouncingblueberries · 14/11/2008 20:09

Well, I managed to survive my meeting today relatively unscathed! I made the blood builder smoothie with beetroot, so it actually looked like a fruit smoothie. I just them all believe that rather than hear all the yucks and eughs when told it's actually juiced beetroot - little do they know what they're missing out on!

There was loads of lovely food, but I managed to get away with just having a tiny piece of bread with olives and feta cheese and some tortilla (the egg based omelette type, not the stuff full of spicy beef type). So not too much damage there.

Funny thing was - I really didn't want anything. That's a first! Usually go mad at these yummy buffet things. And I ignored the carrot cake

So quite proud of myself today really [pats self on back]

Grublin · 14/11/2008 22:16

Posh, you should have an email from me. Tomorrow is still good with me if you're up for it (and it's not pouring down!)

LetThemEatCake · 14/11/2008 22:41

thanks again everyone. I bought some teal tights today (from peacocks! £3!) and will wear with the black dress. Have got choice of patent ankle boots (for edgier look) or sky-high black heels.

My husband hates the patterned dress!!! So i think I will save it for girls' nights. Not that I usually dress to please him but I want him to think I look nice, obviously.

Will have a bender tomorrow night and back on the juicing on Sunday. Enjoy your weekends, all - and thanks again for all of your kind comments and support.

KatieDD · 15/11/2008 15:41

Right am reading the book all the way through and ordering my juicer today, will trawl through and see which one is best as I'm sure that's been asked before.
Is there anything I can do to ease myself into it ?

Grublin · 16/11/2008 19:24

I'm just about to start reading chapter 2 of 7lbs in 7 days. Getting a juicer from freecycle - how cool is that
Meet Poshtottie and her DS yesterday and had a lovely afternoon with them.
Looks like I'll be on the juice this time next week

bouncingblueberries · 16/11/2008 19:28

KatieDD - just read the book from cover to cover and you'll be grand! Good luck!

Grublin - that is so cool that your juicer is from freecycle. Very environmentally responsible

I've had a weekend of eating normally, but healthily. But kept my smoothies for breakfast. Feel like my weight loss has really slowed, but I suppose I can't expect to lose a lb a day forever!

LetThemEatCake · 16/11/2008 22:33

ugggggggh

very drunken night
very carb-loaded day
have thrown up a few times

starting the 7 days from scratch again tomorrow. Not even to lose more weight really - just think that my body will thank me.

DivaSkyChick · 17/11/2008 01:39

I'll see your UGGGHHHH and raise you one! I've been juicing every day for breakfast and lunch but the last few days have been eating whatever I want for dinner, including pizza, crisps, dips, etc. Have put two pounds back on. Thought today I'd go back for a three day detox and ended up eating birthday cake and drinking bloody marys. I'm about to eat tortilla chips and guacamole. Sigh.

Does this mean that I'm really going to have to watch even my dinners, forever? I don't want to be healthy ALL the time. On the other hand, I really like fitting into my smallest jeans.

As my German friend likes to say, SHEISSER!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 17/11/2008 06:54

Ok have recovered from my man flu, and the worst migraine I have had in years and am ready to start again, starting from day 1 today and really intend to stick it, apart from being ill I have had more energy than I have for a really long time and I love that. I am going out for a curry night on Friday but I figure if I am good all week that will be fine.
Going to make a few at a time up and try and make sure I actually have them all, think that may have been my problem.
