Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

mustexercisetwiceaday · 08/11/2008 14:04

Ok, I'll leave this thread alone then

LetThemEatCake · 08/11/2008 14:42

I'm using wheatgrass powder

wish I was using real wheatgrass - I love it.

wotsits · 08/11/2008 14:53

Hi all
This thread has inspired me to try the 7-day diet. I am on day 5 and still have horrible headaches. I didn't think I was overly toxic to start with but the headaches have been hell. When did everyone else get over their headaches (if you had them at all)?
On the plus side, I have lost half a stone

poshtottie · 08/11/2008 16:24

METD, I am sure you could still do the exercise on this juice plan, maybe not the full 7 day juice only but maybe having one meal a day. The juices are very filling but you will have to have them fairly frequently or you will feel weak.

I am only having one or two juices a day but having a meal in the evening. I have an occasional cup of tea though am not having any coffee in the morning just the hot water and lemon.

I would love to do more exercise (used to be an instructor) but as have ds can only manage walking pushing the pushchair. I did manage to do a hard yoga session on Thursday which was fab.

I think the key is to take something positive from this program and incorporate into your lifestyle. You also have to have the things you enjoy, just in moderation.

poshtottie · 08/11/2008 16:26

wotsit, I had horrendous headaches aswell but only till day 2 when I took some painkillers, couldn't stand it anymore.

Are you drinking enough water?

wotsits · 08/11/2008 16:40

Poshtottie, I wasn't drinking enough the first couple of days, but since then I've been drinking loads of water. Oh well, my head seems slightly better this afternoon. I'll keep on with it then.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 08/11/2008 17:05

METD, I was hoping someone who knew a bt more would be along, sorry if I sounded negative, I didnt mean to, I think it is very good for you no matter what and as posh tottie said with a small healthy meal in the evening or something could be perfect. I dont do nearly enough excercise and wish I could get up to what you do.
I have done day1 again and been fine, i am making organic vegatable rissotto for the dd's and dh's tea so may have a small bowl, have thopse of you that have been still eating a small meal still lost weight?
I have definatly not been drinking enough, I really cant stand the hot water and lemon (although all my mugs look really clean now )
I feel so healthy and full of energy. I also feel like I am sleeping better, my skin is a mess as I have just had af so will have to wait and see about that.
I was looking at some photos of myself last year before I put some weight back on and I looked great so that should keep me going. also i have definatley not felt like any food today, even though i went shopping on my own, past all the bakers and stuff. I love not snacking whcih has always been my biggest problem.

DivaSkyChick · 08/11/2008 19:12

I found a little website with a few ideas for pulp usage.

this page

Haven't tried any. Anyone else have a good recipe?

DivaSkyChick · 08/11/2008 19:37

Okay that site actually didn't have much, sorry.

Beetroot · 08/11/2008 21:26

I have not managed ot have wheat grass - I couldn't find any near me and if I order the diet will be over.

Am hungry today

What shall I have for breakfast on Tuesday?

mustrunmore · 09/11/2008 08:34

Ah, sockmonster, it wasnt anything you said I was just s bit hacked off that I feel I'm back to a level base for my exercise routine , finally, and can now build on it, but was told even that zero-base was silly I used to do alot more prekids and dont see why I cant get back to that! I've lost 2 stone in 16 months through hard hard exercise, and am almost feeling averagely fit now (see my profile)

This seems to have an added exercise-advantage... the weight of my rucksack when I've been shopping for so many veggies etc I take a 75litre rucksack, which is bloody heavy when full of fresh produce!

(I'm back to my normal name btw; was trying to find something thats a truer reflection now, but no one liked reading the new one cos it was too tricky and long )

I bought a book off ebay yesterday

And have discovered that it all tastes better than I thought so far!

mustrunmore · 09/11/2008 08:40

Poshtottie; how old is your ds? What about getting a baby jogger? Its hard to get used to at first, and you need more motivation than I naturally have . But if you have kid(s) of an age that are happy to sit in a buggy looking around, then its great.
Also, I know I'm nosey, but what kind of instructor were you? I'm currently wishing I could turn the clock back 6 or 7 years, cos then I should've done the YMCAfit Exercise to Music course; I'd have managed easily. I dont think I'd manage it now for several reasons.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 09/11/2008 09:34

I am off to do a spinning class in a few minutes, had a lovely juice for breakkie, and need to get out of the house as dh is cooking bacon sarnies and they smell so nice that I am fancying my fakon as I like to call it. I havent been to a spinning class for a year so it could be painful.
I was very well behaved yeaterday and I will be again today.
I am just doing my own excercise as his plan doesnt fit in wioth me atall.
mrm glad your getting on, it is so much fruit and veg isnt it.
you look fab I did that, I lost 4 stone over 2 years by excerising and watching what i eat, I have now put 1.5 stone back on and I need to get rid as it is getting me down.
Happy juicing.

dramaqueen · 09/11/2008 09:38

I have got all my kit in place and am having my first juice - it's very green isn't it? I couldn't persuade the kids to have a sip! There's also loads of it. I am not sure how I'm going to carry on a work tomorrow, but will work something out.

Also I couldn't find any wheatgrass; do you think that matters?

Beetroot · 09/11/2008 09:57

Dramaqueen I have not used wheatgrass as I couldn't find it and I think that is ok. I am on day 6.

My sense of smell is amazing
Just been fr a 4 mile run. I am looking forward not to drinking juice anymore or making it!

Jason Vale must be a bit boring to do this for 3 months - does he not have a life?

Beetroot · 09/11/2008 09:59

Do I really need to buy a book; cant I just lob loads of fruit and veg in a juicer 3 times a day? NO USE THE BOOK
Am I going to stick to this, bearing in mind I have zero willpower? UP TO YOU - IF YOU WANT TO ENOUGHT TBH
What if I'm out and about at lunchtime? I cant live by my juicer all the time! I MAKE JUICE FOR THE DAY THENIGHT BEFORE AS I WORK UNTIL 5
Will I feel constantly hungry? I DO
Will I still get enough energy to feel like training (I do 6-8 aerobics classes a week plus some runs and pole dance practice). I RUN MOST DAYS AND FEEL FINE. I AM SLEEPING MORE THOUGH
Tell me, give me an average days volume of fruit and veg used please. Is it really tons? YES - I HAVE USED (FOR TWO OF US) OVER 100 APPLES)

poshtottie · 09/11/2008 10:10

beetroot, I think Jason hopes you will juice for ever. I am having a least one juice per day or smoothie. It stops me having bread or sweet things.

Mustrunmore, I have a terrible left knee problem which inhibits running. DS is two now though when he was a baby I went to a buggyfit class which was really enjoyable.

I trained as an instructor years ago, was an aerobics instructor and personal trainer.

LetThemEatCake · 09/11/2008 10:20

blimey, it's nice to have that smoothie after days of juicing isn't it? Feels like a proper treat!!

mustrunmore · 09/11/2008 10:21

Am liking the sound of sleeping more!
100 apples? Am thinking this a def a diet for car drivers! Shuddering at the thought of all this and 2 kids on the bus!

I think the hunger/willpower thing will get easier if/when I see some results, touchwood. But I am rubbish, truely rubbish, at sticking to anything

Poshtottie, thats a real shame about your knee. When ds1 was very small I used to take him swimming and sit him on the one those enormous float things pushing him along while I did some lengths! Not ideal though as it only helps your legs, and you can only do it for half the time so the poor child can swim too. And swimming is a pita in winter.

JT109 · 09/11/2008 10:41

why dont you do an online shop to save you from lugging it on the bus. there are always money off codes online

mustrunmore · 09/11/2008 10:58

We do an online Tescos once a month, to stock up on water/tins/cereals other bulky stuff, and do get fresh on that order too. But they are always out of stock of things; apparently we have one of the worst stores in London or something! And with fruit and veg I like to see and choose myself, and choose my alternatives myself.

Beetroot · 09/11/2008 11:08

somerfueld pineapples are 69p

I buy most form the market - cheaper at the end of the day too
