Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

i've just finished day 4 and have only lost 3 lbs. i am wondering whether i should just give up and start again monday. i haven't exactly been doing it properly anyway cos i just haven't had the time.

Beetroot · 07/11/2008 08:31

I am sturggling - although have not stopped. It is day 4 and I feel tired, and a bit bluegh.

arfishy · 07/11/2008 08:32

3lb is still a a lot NA - think of 3lb of butter or 5lb of potatoes - it's loads! At the rate you're going you'll lose 7lb by 7 days anyway. Don't give up now, it's a waste of 3 days AND any veg/fruit you've got leftover.

Beetroot · 07/11/2008 08:34

My skin is smoother
I have lost weight

arfishy · 07/11/2008 08:37

Beety - honestly, stay with it. Have a nibble on something illicit and stick with it.

I managed to lever on my 'trousers of truth' for the first time in about 18 months today. I had got incredibly porky and I can't believe that I actually got them on (albeit needing a bit of a lie down and nearly the coathanger of leverage). I have lost more inches this week than I did after 3 WEEKS (yes, 21 consecutive days) of 2 hour gym sessions and salads. Bastards.

Buda · 07/11/2008 08:41

You are all doing so well.

I haven't been able to start as DS was off sick and I couldn't get to shops to stock up. Am hoping to start on Monday though. I would find it too hard to start over weekend and DH is away from Monday to Wed so I should be able to do it then.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/11/2008 09:52

well I am stasring from scratch today, which should be easy as I am already not hungry, I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and I feel like death on a stick this morning, just had my first juice.
going to lie on the sofa, will go running tommorow instead.

Beetroot · 07/11/2008 09:54

Well have jsut done a five mile run.

anyone else veel a little bloated?
and how are the bowels?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/11/2008 10:23

well done

nappyaddict · 07/11/2008 10:45

Day 5 and have lost 4lbs. Arfishy you are right it works out as a lb a day which is all you are meant to lose on this plan. It's just everyone else seemed to have lost much more than the 7lbs.

Beetroot · 07/11/2008 12:30

I feel far more bloated today - not sure why

nappyaddict · 07/11/2008 12:56

i have had one juice so far today yet have put on a lb

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/11/2008 13:26

right, I have thrown in the towel, I am going to start compkletly fro scratch tommorw, today Iam going to eat health low fat food and still stay off the coffe,
I think I just need to str=art again as I am messing it up.

Wisp · 07/11/2008 13:43

Oh sockmonster I've thrown in the towel too!
Horrendous PMT.
Eldest DC sent home ill from school yesterday, I comfort eat toast and then vegetable curry for dinner, and erm ice cream pudding.
Then been really stressed today because of money troubles, so not in the right mindset to be cleaning out my juicer a billion times.
Damn my crap unjuicy willpower.

Comfort eating is so hard to crack. Jason vale would be ashamed of me!

I'm starting afresh tomorrow, going to force DH to keep me on track for the weekend!
Good Luck

DivaSkyChick · 07/11/2008 17:53

Well I almost feel bad reporting this but today is day 8 and I've lost 7 lbs.

I've had a couple of juices today and a piece of fruit. I'm planning a gorgeous grilled salmon with steamed veggies tonight. I'm really craving wild rice, too, but I wonder if that's too much?

I REALLY do not want to gain this weight back. I am now prebaby weight and there's where I intend to stay. (crosses fingers she's not pregnant)

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/11/2008 18:32

well done, thats great, I am back with a vengence and shall start afresh in the morning. I am going to call my friend and arrange to go and stay so i have a dedline to keep me on track. I havemnt eaten very much today so am quite impressed with how my appetite has changed already.
also cleared my kitchen out so juicer has a permanent home on the asiode,
Do4es anyone know if you can do the 7sday bit for longer?

LetThemEatCake · 07/11/2008 19:37

well in the book, he says he once did it for 12 weeks!! so I guess you could continue longer if you wanted to.

I seem to have plateaued at a 5lb loss, but still 2 days to go, so we'll see. I've been cheating a bit - a cherry tomato here, a raspberry there, a miso soup every night. I know, hardly sinful right? So the weight should come off I guess.

Have to say, can't WAIT for monday when I can have some rice and veg. I was already a vegan and gluten-free before starting this, so rice & veg or a big salad sound GREAT to me.

Am off out this evening for friend's birthday - send me strength to resist the lure of the bottle! A glassof wine would be sooooo nice after the day I've had with my 2 dc

Beetroot · 08/11/2008 07:37

am on day 5 and have lost 6 pounds so far!!!

The thought of having to drink those juices for 3 mnths makes me retch!

What can I have for Breakfast on day 8??

Not wheat but yummy

Beetroot · 08/11/2008 07:56

Any one else not managed ot have wheat grass?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 08/11/2008 08:03

right am on form this morning and dh here all weekend so wont let me cheat.
3 months is a buit much but I think I could do a couple of weeks on the 1st phase.
am feeling so full of energy.

LetThemEatCake · 08/11/2008 08:41

fell off the wagon spectacularly last night!

sake, red wine, rice, eggplant & beancurd.

had a great night though and am another pound down this morning - was 10st8 on Monday, am now 10st2

so will be good all weekend and then do an extra day at the end of the 7 as atonement before starting turbo plan

thesockmonsterofdoom · 08/11/2008 08:49

you need to change your name.

mustexercisetwiceaday · 08/11/2008 09:06

Hello all I keep seeing this thread title, and now I've scanned it and am very interested! Obv I havent read the whole lot in depth because its so long, so can I be lazy and ask a couple of things please?!

Do I really need to buy a book; cant I just lob loads of fruit and veg in a juicer 3 times a day?
Am I going to stick to this, bearing in mind I have zero willpower?
What if I'm out and about at lunchtime? I cant live by my juicer all the time!
Will I feel constantly hungry?
Will I still get enough energy to feel like training (I do 6-8 aerobics classes a week plus some runs and pole dance practice).
Tell me, give me an average days volume of fruit and veg used please. Is it really tons?

Thank you

LetThemEatCake · 08/11/2008 10:55

to LetThemDrinkJuice?

or LetThemDrinkSakeAndMakeAFoolOfThemselvesSingingKaraoke?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 08/11/2008 11:33

METD, you do get through a hell of a lot a lot of fruit and veg, I am not sure about the amunt of excercise you do, he does say it's ok but that seem like a lot of excercise.
I have just been to the gym and done 1hourCV and 20min weights. feeling good, but a bit hungry, need some juice.
