Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

spokette · 01/09/2008 13:07

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

ok, motivators. Help me out.

Have to go out for a friend's birthday on Friday night (which will be day 5) It's at a fab Chinese restaurant. I've wriggled out of dinner by saying that I can't leave until the babies are sleeping (which is true) and I won't be able to get there until 9-ish.

But the booze, the booze, what do I do about the booze??

I do love a drink when I'm out. I'm not a big drinker by any means but a glass of vino is so nice.

So please ... help to keep me on the straight and narrow?

DivaSkyChick · 05/11/2008 23:28

Claudia, thanks so much for returning and letting us know that the weight gain stopped. I really got down thinking about that.

Day 6 is winding down and I still feel great but oh, as I shoved spinach into the chute I just wanted so desperately to have a big green, crunch salad with tomatoes and cucumber and ...

Well, at least I'm craving good stuff.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 06/11/2008 07:45

I have been good ever since my indescrection yesterday, I will be good today, I have a party at a friends tonight, If I dont drink they will all think I am preggers. which I am definatley not, how can I say I am not drinking without looking odd?
Weighed myself this morning (i know iknow) and lost another 1/2 lb. I really need to bin my scales.
Am absolutley full of energy although i did end up going to bed at 9.45 last night as I just ran round doing stuff all day. another busy day, will try and go for a walk at my snacking time today.
Oh and I used frozen spinach, the machine sounded like it was going to explode so I wont do that again.

Beetroot · 06/11/2008 08:12

chuffinell · 06/11/2008 09:01

hello everyone!

Blueberries keep telling me off, i need it!! yes i read those soup recipes earlier they look gorgeous

sockmonster we should just write yesterday off and start again, because (trumpet fanfare) despite the snacking, i finally have lost 4lb!!!!!!

am so pleased. however i have run out of juicing ingredients and wont be able to shop till later today so i am 'back on solids' for this morning

i am getting straight back onto the juicing tomorrow thou as my belly is hanging horribly over my waistband

Wisp · 06/11/2008 09:53

I think the alcohol thing is hard, have sparkling water with a slice of lemon? and say it's a G&T or vodka?

Spokette: wow there's no stopping you now! Considering you only wanted to lose 10lbs, you've doubled that already! Amazing.

I'm on day 3 and lost 3lbs so far,so at this rate of 1lb per day, I will have lost half a stone for next week! yay

Menus for today:
Breakfast : Blood Builder ( 2 apples, 1/2 beetroot,2 carrots,1/4 lemon and 1/4 blended avocado) It's nice, very beetrooty but filling!

Brunch: Sweet and savory juice-pineapple, spinach and watercress with lime- looking forward to trying that one, juiced pineapple is delicious!

Lunch:Fennel Fuel

Linner Body Balancer

Dinner:Souper green stuff soup

The butternut and carrot soup last night was divine, it was meant to be enough for 2 servings, but I ate the lot!

mamalovesmojitos · 06/11/2008 10:07

hi all, well done on the results, sounds amazing! i hope to join ye soon.

just one question: i have the turbo charge book but i have given it to a friend. i'd like to try just juice for seven days as i've been sick a lot recently and need to kick start my immune system.

i do not really want to buy two more books as i am broke. can you follow the seven day plan with the slim for life book, obviously just omitting solid food for seven days. does slim for life have more recipes?

spokette · 06/11/2008 10:49

Wisp, I have to stop losing weight because I'm turning into a twig and DH does not like it(lol).

I've told him that I'm giving myself enough expansion room so that I can indulge over Christmas without worrying about an expanding waistline.

Wisp · 06/11/2008 10:56

Great plan Spokette!
Ahhh to be a twig!

mamlovesmajitos: I don't have the slim for life book, but I would say if it has recipes for fruit and veg juices, go for it omitting the solid food until day 8. Although it does say in my book that the planned "launch" menus are carefully selected and balanced for maximum nutrition.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 06/11/2008 12:06

Today is going very well, only had one juice this morning, not even hungry and I was at playgroup where I normally eat a pack of crisps and about 10 biscuits.
I will be a waif, I will, I will.
Going to visit my best friend in december and she is uber skinny so i want to be nice and slim, still absolutly loveling the juices and although today is shopping day I am no where near half way through what I have in.
Yay.
also did my body fat on day 1, was 40.2
today is 39.4 not bad for 2 days.

mamalovesmojitos · 06/11/2008 12:53

thanks wisp! i'll have a look in the bookshop at the weekend.

arfishy · 06/11/2008 12:56

Oooh this is going so well for everybody . Thanks for all the congrats. Yesterday I had my first "wow! you've lost loads of weight!". I nearly hugged her.

I was umming about the whole carb thing. We're having fruit, so still some carbs aren't we? I was wondering if the fast weight loss was almost Atkins-like, but he doesn't allow fruit, so we're definitely not cutting out the carbs, just the processed ones/salt and chemicals

After a couple of days though you really don't physically crave anything. I've almost gone off tea AND wine. I definitely don't crave bread or carbs any more, and it happens so quickly.

This is GENIUS. I have a cocktail party tomorrow night [ooh get me] so will have to have a couple of wines. I'll juice during the day and won't go overboard tho. I'm going to do another 7 day plan next week. Another half stone and I'll be very happy.

Chuff - why don't you post exactly what you're eating and how much weight you want to lose. Do you definitely have enough to lose? Are you eating as well as juicing? A big part of the plan is being strong-willed enough to get over the early bread/junk cravings while your body adjusts.

nappyaddict · 06/11/2008 12:58

i'm going to make the tomato and basil soup for dinner tonight so at least then if i am tempted to eat something it won't be too detrimental.

nappyaddict · 06/11/2008 13:00

arfishy - i've noticed that - i'm craving fruit and vegetables rather than chocolate and crisps. am still craving chicken sandwiches occasionally but that's it.

nappyaddict · 06/11/2008 13:00

oh and hot pork sandwiches

arfishy · 06/11/2008 13:25

Oh droool. With apple sauce.

nappyaddict · 06/11/2008 13:33

i like them with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. i usually go in to the coffee shop between tumble tots and toddler group but yesterday i made ds have his sandwich sitting in the cold on a bench cos i didn't want to be tempted by the pork sandiwches, yummy soups, cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate.

Beetroot · 06/11/2008 15:52

sockmonster - well done
I am on day three - I love the yoghut one.
woke early today

Try dry brushing - 'tis good and leaves you silky smooth

have run every day too!

The 14 day one looks grilling though. Not sure I can go on with that one. Will just cut out carbs after 5

thesockmonsterofdoom · 06/11/2008 16:01

isnt the yoghurt one yummy, although so far I am loving all of them.
I am full of energy again which is fab as I have been tired for about 2 years now and trying to work out why.
I am so nt running, I have enbtered a 10k in a month abd I havent run for about a month, do you think I can train up for 10k in a month starting tommorow morning?

bouncingblueberries · 06/11/2008 17:40

sockmonster - go for it! I'll keep you company. Went out for a run yesterday for the first time since the clocks went back and altho it was hard I felt darn good after it!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 06/11/2008 17:51

going to try for 5k in the morning and build up 1mile at a time. I have just had a little slip up
I am really mad I made it till 5.30 then the dd's had chipshop chips and I had to have a few.
still considerably less than I would usually eat. Start again tommorow, will behave for the rest of the night now.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 06/11/2008 18:26

I promise I am going to be so good tonight at this party, and I wont post if I am not because I dont wanbt to demotivate the rest of you, ou are all doing so well. I am so going to stick with it, I love it and I feel so healthy.

bouncingblueberries · 06/11/2008 19:52

Oops, I just had a little slip up too.

It's DH's birthday today and he requested mince + tatties for his birthday day. Had a tiny portion with a lovely big green salad on the side (weird combo I know, but was so scared of overeating!).

Felt very pleased with myself and felt nicely full - did not overeat.

But...

Then we cut his birthday cake.

Although I cut myself a thin slice, it was such an indulgent chocolate cake that I now feel sick. Wish I'd only eaten half.

The annoying thing is, I nearly didn't have any cake. I just didn't fancy it but thought I would be sociable since it was DH's birthday (that's unheard of by the way - I usually inhale cake, especially chocolate cake!).

Grr. Never mind. Off for a run tomorrow morning, so that should help with the damage limitation.

Had a really good day otherwise. Really look forward to my smoothies!

Keep up the good work everyone!

bouncingblueberries · 06/11/2008 20:00

Right, on a more positive note, here are some of the benefits I've discovered from juicing so far (7 days):

  • all my clothes are looser
  • I can now fasten my belt at the next hole (nearly an inch between holes!)
  • I'm sleeping so soundly
  • I wake feeling refreshed
  • My hair is super shiny
  • I'm craving salads and veg instead of carbs and crap
  • I've rediscovered how tasty fruit and veg are
  • I'm enjoying drinking water
  • I've realised that most of the time I'm actually thirsty rather than hungry
  • I don't feel like I'm on a diet
  • I don't feel deprived at all
  • I feel more "balanced" hormonally speaking

Think that's enough to be getting on with just now

LetThemEatCake · 06/11/2008 22:10

here's something else that I've discovered (I'm just at the end of Day 4) - my skin is generally fairly clear but when I wash my face I can always feel that 'congestion' under the surface if you get me - all the gunk that at any minute might turn into a breakout - the kind of thing you assume only regular facials will control.

Was just in the shower and washing my face, my skin is, almost without exception, absolutely smooth and clear and clean to touch.

has anyone else found this? And hear hear blueberries, I agree with you on just about all of your list - and happy birthday to your DH!!
