Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

Chuffinell - what plan are you following? or are you just adding juices into your normal diet?

Maybe if you post what you've been eating and drinking on a daily basis, those with great losses so far can let you know how it compares to what they have done? [helpful emoticon]

chuffinell · 05/11/2008 11:53

thanks Bouncingblueberries

i have been having 4 juices a day - from the Jason Vale 7ibs in 7 days book. one at breakfast at 730, then one every 2 hours after.

i then have a v small portion of whatever the family are having for tea

i admit to nibbling a bit in between juices - so far today i have cheated with a carrot, and a weetabix with fat free yoghurt on.

this is nothing as before i wd have eaten constantly since a large brekky!

i hate exercise so havent done that either but really i thought i wd lose a bit more than half a pound..i suppose i am expecting a miracle?!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 12:59

I am so hungry, help, I know I am, not really hungary but I want to eat stuff. trying to keep really busy to distract.

chuffinell · 05/11/2008 13:07

chew a carrot sockmonster, they are yummy - better than a bar of bourneville choc (am i convincing myself you?)

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 13:09

nope, but I will give it try, bought dd a bag of my favourite crisps and now I am drooling over them.

chuffinell · 05/11/2008 13:15

there should be a drooling emoticon on here. my colleague in the next desk has CHOCOLATE its just not fair

think of that little black dress you want for Christmas....

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 13:22

They were for the dc for later and they were winkin at me.

chuffinell · 05/11/2008 13:26

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 13:31

pmsl, atleast you get all the energy boosting goodness. I will behave for the rest of the day and I hace yoga tonight so no snacking opportunites, this is my worst time of day as dd2 is chillin out and not really demandin much, I have done all the chores and it is 1.5hrs till I need to pick dd1 up.
Basicaly boredom.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 14:06

Ok I have well and truly fallen off the wagon, what should I do, carry ion and forget about it, or scrap it for today and start again tommorow?

Wisp · 05/11/2008 14:11

PUT THE CHOCOLATE/EVIL SUGARY SNACKS DOWN!!!
Well done on your first week arfishy!

I must admit I failed on my first day yesterday! I was ravenous by the evening, felt light headed and sick, so ended up eating some dinner. Still lost 1.5lbs this morning though!

Today I have hadfrom Juice yourself Slim book)

Breakfast: Organic Avocado Crush (smoothie with pineapple and lime, blended with avocado- delicious, and all the kids loved it too!)

Brunch: Cucumber and kiwi cooler-(cucumber, apples and a kiwi, with some lemon- very light and refreshing- cucumber tastes amazing juiced!)

Lunch:Beta Carrot Juice (apples, beetroot, carrots, parsnip, lemon and ice)This is by far my favourite so far, so sweet and full of flavour mmmm! was bright red too!

Then for "linner" Sweet Veggie heaven (Apples, celery, courgette, cucumber, yellow pepper, lemon and ginger)

and Dinner is Butternut squash and carrot soup.Going to be tough not having half a loaf of buttered bread with it!

Something odd happened to me this morning, I woke up at 6am, totally alert and refreshed..this never happens to me! I'm the groggiest waker upper, and have to drag myself out of bed usually at about 7:50 :O

DivaSkyChick · 05/11/2008 14:19

Wisp! I'm on day 6 and I know what you mean! I wake feeling very alive. no more pre-coffee haze.

I was really busy yesterday so only had three of five juices. I also had a few sips of champagne as Obama was announced winner of the election. I felt pretty weak last night. This morning I felt very physically weak until I managed to get my first smoothie made. I haven't exercised much at all, either. But I've definitely lost weight. I'm weighing myself tomorrow. I'm sure it's going to say something fantastic!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 14:21

right I am going to confess what I have eaten so I can just get over it and get back on track now.
I have had
2 caramel biscuits,
1 packet of crisps
a babybel and 4 crackers with marg on.

thats not too bad is it. will make mayself nother juice now.
and one at tea time, I dont feel like eating anything else so the mad craving must have passed, how weak is that I am only on day 2.

Wisp · 05/11/2008 14:32

sockmonster: That lot can't be more than 500 calories, so there is no way if you only have your juices for the rest of the day that you could gain any weight.

Put it behind you and carry on for just another few days. Last night I had a huge dinner involving alot of pastry and still had lost this morning

And after this week, you'll be having evening meals again, and healthy snacks.

Hide the things you crave away, and do anything it takes to distract yourself-quick walk, bath, read a mag etc

thesockmonsterofdoom · 05/11/2008 14:42

well I am now really enjoying my juice, I think I ,missed one, that was a bit silly.
very very full nopw and will be busy for the restof the day now. all good.
I still cant quite beleive how noc juiced bocolli tastes.

bouncingblueberries · 05/11/2008 15:15

Right you lot ENOUGH! Listen to Wisp and STOP THE SNACKING!

Do you want me to get the Juicemaster on here? Well do you? [foot tapping, arms crossed, stern look]

bouncingblueberries · 05/11/2008 15:20

Now, Chuffinell. You look like you're doing really well, but maybe try just one day following the plan religiously and see how you get on? so no snacking! If you really want to "eat" something with your family in the evening, the soups in the Juice Yourself Slim book are so yummy and filling. The recipes are posted earlier in the thread.

Wisp - the carrot and butternut soup is gorgeous! I'm having either hunky chunky vegetable soup tonight or a salad - yet to decide, depends how cold I am

My top tip is, if you feel yourself wanting something to nibble on, have a big glass of water and see if that takes away the desire. Works for me in the evening when DH is sitting devouring cake and biscuit (but remains whippet-like )

Wisp · 05/11/2008 15:38

Blueberries, Yes lets get Jason Vale on the thread! The threat alone might scare them into stopping snacking!

Did you eat all the soup or split it into two? It doesn't sound alot, and it says is easily serves 2?

I agree about the water thing, Ive been living on hot water with a slice of lemon and ginger in it, its a poor substitute far nicer than coffee! but feels sooo cleansing somehow!

Right about to clean out the juicer, and make "Linner" that word cracks me up!

nappyaddict · 05/11/2008 15:59

Done much better today. I did feel an urge to nibble on something so i cooked some of the raw beetroot and ate that. It was yummy and very satisfying

DivaSkyChick · 05/11/2008 16:46

I should think that if you need a bite of something, a banana or some avocado would also be filling? They're on the plan (altho blended) so how bad can that be?

I feel great today. Day 6!

Beetroot · 05/11/2008 19:24

just finishing my second day.
takes ages to make the juice up as I have to make it up for the day - but is ok.

headaches - I forgot about them.

Beetroot · 05/11/2008 19:26

nappy stay with it - It is only 7 days

LetThemEatCake · 05/11/2008 20:40

did you lot see that Jason Vale/ Juicemaster has a facebook page? think we should all join

by the way, I am having all 5 juices a day - and wanting them!

just had my last one of the day (day 3)

oh i so want to be 9st12.... pleeeeeease Juice Master???

ClaudiaSchiffer · 05/11/2008 21:23

nappyaddict - I did do some exercise on the 7 day plan, but only walking the dog. I found I was very irritable and quite tired so not keen to do much. Since then, however, I am full of beans and am much fitter, have started very slow running.

Sockmonster - I know it is hard but really if you can go cold turkey and NO SNACKING it really does help with stopping cravings. But it does take a few days for that to kick in - I would say about day 4 for me. If you are desperate to eat something go for a carrot or other frut/veg which at least is on the plan.

When you are craving something you could try drinking a large glass of water, going for a walk, do some deep breathing, weigh yourself, read a bit of his book - remember he says to read at least 4 pgs a day to keep yourself on track, tell yourself that it is only for another 3 days (or whatever).

spokette · 05/11/2008 21:57

Well done everyone, you are doing really well.

To those struggling, stick with it and the programme will work because you will retrain your eating habits.

I have gone into overdrive with the exercise. On Saturday, I did 1.5 hours in the gym, Monday 1 hour of Bodycombat and Tuesday 1 hour Bodypump. This is after doing a full day at work (Mon & Tues) and taking care of 4yo twin boys. I have so much energy!

I'm juicing for breakfast and lunch plus I have a banana and grapes for lunch, and a small meal for dinner. I've lost more inches and another couple of pounds. My tummy is flat and I have lost nearly 20lb since I started.

After my session in the gym on Saturday, I made the Juice Master's Athlete's Elixir (from 7lb in 7days book) - juice 2 apples, 1 stick of celery and blend with 1 banana, 3 pitted dates and 1/2 teaspoon honey. Oh my goodness. It is absolutely delicious and filling. You have to try it.
