Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

DSC - do you live abroad?

DivaSkyChick · 01/11/2008 00:36

Nappy, I am. I'm in the US right now. In Chicago, land of Obama.

God today has been hard. And tomorrow may be worse but day 3 should be better. Cross fingers.

spokette · 01/11/2008 10:09

Nappyaddict I always buy avocado and spinach from Aldi. In Somerfield, avocado cost 90p but in Aldi they are only 49p and just as good!

Just got back from a 1.5 hour session at the gym (50 minutes of which was cardio!). Planning on having only the turbo charge juice all day because I am going out with DH and DTS for a meal tonight and plan to wear one of my new dresses!

DivaSkyChick Day 3 tends to be the hardest but stick it out and by the time you get to day 4 you will feel wonderful. Also, you will have lost pounds and inches!!

Good luck.

Books arrived yesterday! Managed to order 2 of the 7 day one - a friend is taking it off my hands. And I also bought the Turbo one.

Jeepney - I am in Budapest! When were you here? I have lived in Asia (Thailand and Vietnam) but never managed to get to Philippines.

Spokette - how much is spinach and kale?

DivaSkyChick · 01/11/2008 13:38

Woke up feeling much better, thanks for the encouragement. I did break down and take some advil for my headache. I know I'm supposed to detox but the pain was relentless. I even forgot to take photos of my baby's first ever trick or treat!

I'm not taking my allergy meds, tho. I really want to see if this detox helps to clear those up.

Can anyone tell me which is the book that lets you eat salads and soups that Jeepney talks about? I have to order the book online so I can't just thumb through it and look!

nappyaddict · 01/11/2008 13:42

With lemon and hot water are you meant to use boiling water?

alfiemama · 01/11/2008 13:47

I used Boiling water with mine, tasted ok.

Didnt think about the tablets, just had paracetamol as raging headache and got to work (supposed to me now lol)
hope ok for tommorow (on day 2) as lo christening.

nappyaddict · 01/11/2008 13:59

Just had it with lime which i preferred to lemon.

DivaSkyChick · 02/11/2008 17:39

Starting day 3 today, I feel soooo much better!

I have to admit that I add tons of ice and sometimes a third apple so end up with two flasks of juice each time. I'm drinking it all day long but then, I'm not drinking much plain water. I wonder if this will mean that I'm not retraining my appetite?

bouncingblueberries · 02/11/2008 19:25

I've struggled today

It was our Halloween party yesterday and there was sooo much food around. I did really well though and only had a nibble of a sausage roll and a tiny slice of homemade pizza (so not loaded with rubbish). Didn't have my soup last night, as I just wasn't hungry, but went to bed feeling really positive.

Today I have wanted to gnaw my arm off. Not through real hunger though - just pure hormonal cravings!!!

So, instead of throwing a tantrum I've made myself a bowl of popcorn and a hot chocolate rather than diving head first into a vat of dairy milk. I'm calling it damage limitation

What I have found though, is that my cravings for sugar and carbs have decreased, especially hormonally related ones. And I am thinking carefully about whether I'm truly hungry or just thirsty - most of the time, I'm just thirsty.

Anyway, Day 5 tomorrow and looking forward to some different juices and smoothies - they are soooo delicious. Hoping I'll be on a more even keel, hormonally speaking.

How's everyone else's weight loss going? I got on the scales this morning and had lost 4lbs after 3 days! Woo hoo!

DivaSkyChick the book with the soups and salads is Juice Yourself Slim.

DivaSkyChick · 02/11/2008 21:11

Blueberry, thanks for that. As for weightloss, I'm actually afraid to get on the scale. I keep trying on a pair of jeans that fit me a couple of months ago. They don't seem to be getting any looser but I feel so much lighter! I'm afraid if the scale doesn't show it I might lose my motivation. I'm determined not to check until the morning of day 8.

DivaSkyChick · 02/11/2008 21:12

One more question for you Blue (or anyone), if you would?

I'm trying to decide which book to get - turbo charge your life or juice yourself slim. Does the latter talk about phases 2 and 3 or is it an entirely different diet? Do I need both books?

dramaqueen · 02/11/2008 21:58

OK, I have just ordered my juicer and books from Amazon. They are coming Tuesday so then there are no more excuses. This seems like a good way for me to start to lose my 3 stones {blush]

bouncingblueberries · 03/11/2008 09:06

Good luck dramaqueen!

DivaSkyChick - I only have Juice Yourself Slim. It starts with the 7 day detox where you have juices, smoothies, soups and salads. After that you can do another 7 days if you like or move onto smoothies and juices with a healthy evening meal (I think there's more flexibility at weekends, but I'm not sure - just focusing on the 7 day detox just now). You might find more info on Jason Vale's website

I'm a bit worried about straying from the programme over the past two days. I knew that doing the programme slap bang when my period was due was going to be a challenge, so all things considered, maybe I shouldn't beat myself up too much. Usually by this point I would scoffed a ton of chocolate and bullied DH into buying fish and chips and all sorts of rubbish.

I felt so goo at the end of day 2, so I'm going to be really strict for the next 3 days and see if I can redeem myself. After all, this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change and I really don't want to go back to the bad old days of stuffing myself full of crap. I love my juices! Just hope my stone age juicer can keep up with the pace

Good luck everyone! Hope you all have a great day!

bouncingblueberries · 03/11/2008 09:07

Ooops. Felt so good at the end of day 2 not goo

Lizzylou · 03/11/2008 09:21

Have had a few days of excess, so juicing agogo today and for rest of week!
Nice feeling that if you have some naughty moments, you can juice for a day or so and get back on track!

thesockmonsterofdoom · 03/11/2008 12:59

Can I join you, I have the book and have ordered a juicer which is coming tommorow. I do have a lot of weight to lose but that is not my main incentive, i am fed up iof feeling tired, I have been increasing my fruit and veg and decreasing my carbs and caffine for a couple of wreeks and I feel so much better so i thlougt a proper juice detox might get me back to my sparkly self.

VineGuyFawkesFeltMyTits · 03/11/2008 13:05

I think i might like to try this juicing lark, where can a get a good (cheap) juicer?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 03/11/2008 13:10

I got one from argos, 24.99 resduce from 39.99. I hope it is OK I am going to head and and stock up on the fruit and veg in a bit, no idea where to get the other bits from though, did you guys just miss them out?

VineGuyFawkesFeltMyTits · 03/11/2008 13:22

I need a book too dont i? where do i get one from? (again a cheap one)

Thanks! i am hoping to be all slim and waif like for xmas

Socky, let me know if your cheapo jucier is any good once you get using it?

bouncingblueberries · 03/11/2008 13:44

I think someone said earlier in this thread that Tesco are doing a whole fruit juicer half price at the moment. Might be worth checking it out.

Good luck Sockmonsterofdoom and Vineguyfawkesfeltmytits!

I've had so much more energy than I normally would, considering I have a stinking cold at the moment!
