Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

do you have to stick to the juices in the plan or can you use the other recipes in the back of the book?

arfishy · 30/10/2008 22:00

Which book have you got NA?

nappyaddict · 30/10/2008 22:17

7lbs in 7 days

arfishy · 30/10/2008 22:45

He says you can chop and change them with the recipes at the back. The ones in the plan are based on maximum nutrition.

nappyaddict · 31/10/2008 00:54

just to let everyone know tesco has it's own brand whole fruit juicer half price at £19.97 in store.

DivaSkyChick · 31/10/2008 00:56

The book finally arrived! I read it and then took a good look at my pathetic juicer with the one inch chute. Then I went out and bought a serious machine!

Starting tomorrow. Can't wait!

nappyaddict · 31/10/2008 01:05

which juicer did you get?

does anyone know if i get 7 pineapples will they last the week?

arfishy · 31/10/2008 01:33

7? Are they very small (not in UK so not sure if you've got teeny ones at the moment)? I've got one big one and it's lasted me all week. I haven't been having all of the juices though.

DivaSkyChick · 31/10/2008 02:50

I got this one: Breville® Juice Fountain® Plus

This 850-watt professional juice extractor with a powerful 13,000 rpm motor juices both whole fruits and vegetables - no chopping or cutting required.

I still have to cut the apples in half but I can live with that.

Jeepney · 31/10/2008 02:53

Arfishy, Philippines is interesting if a little boring during the day. There is all the sport you could imagine doing and it costs next to nothing to do it, other than that and shopping the day is prety empty. But the nightlife is amazing, loads of bars and great restaurants. The people are very friendly if a little challenging at times. Everyone speaks English which is good. The beaches are amazing.
Where in Australia are you? We went to Sydney earlier this year and had the most amazing time, I think it is my second fave city in the world (after NY) We lived in Budapest before here which was a lovely place to live. Where else have you lived??

I forgot to post the salads as it took so long to sort my computer out I will try to do it today. Though my SIL arrives tomorrow and I have a million things to do before she arrives. That is really going to bugger up my eating plan!!

arfishy · 31/10/2008 03:22

Oooh it sounds good fun. I'm in Sydney. It's a balmy 36' today . I love it here. We're right on the beach.

I've lived in Italy, Holland, Thailand, Germany, Australia and the UK and have spent a lot of time in the US and Sweden. DD put paid to all of the travel, but we couldn't have ended up in a better spot really.

Don't worry about the salads, I think I've probably got the gist - lots of leaves, avocado, balsamic dressing, raw veggies and not overloaded with mayo/bacon/egg/croutons/caesar dressing etc etc. After juicing a bit of crispy veg is just lovely though.

Enjoy getting ready for your SIL. I'll be extremely impressed if you manage to stay juicing, even partially in the wake of all that temptation!

Wow Arfishy you've been alover the place!! Its been raining all day here, monsoon season doesn't seem to be coming to an end!

One of the salads is the buffalo Mozarella and tomato with basil and virgin olive oil! Finally some dairy!!

I am hoping to still do the juicing during the day although I have just got back from shopping and have stocked up on wine and lots of lovely bread so I am not putting too much pressure on it. When family come out its about having a good time!! Or thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!

nappyaddict · 31/10/2008 12:04

It says in my instruction book to my juicer that you can use the pulp in soups, stews, chutneys, curries and pasta sauces and fruit pulp in jams.

Just had my first juice of apple, cucumber, carrot, pear and plum. improvised a bit cos i hadn't got any avocado yet. thing is i still feel hungry. how big are the glasses everyones having? mines about half a pint - perhaps i should have a pint instead?

bouncingblueberries · 31/10/2008 13:12

Hi nappyaddict - my juices seem to come out half pint but by smoothies are more pint sized. The avocado will definitely help with the hunger.

I'm on day 2 now and so proud of myself. I always always always cheat on diets, but since this isn't a diet, it's a complete lifestyle change I haven't cheated at all.

Had the butternut squash and carrot soup last night but there was loads of it, so think I'll have it again tonight.

Thank you Spokette for posting about this fab, healthy way to lose weight and for introducing me to Jason Vale!!

chuffinell · 31/10/2008 13:40

help i am on day 4 and am starving and also - gutted that i havent lost a pound since starting the juicing

i seem to be the only one on this thread that hasnt lost any weight

please encourage me to carry on

LetThemEatCake · 31/10/2008 15:06

okay, my book arrived. I am already daunted by the thought of all the chopping and prep. But hey - am heading home to Sydney in a few weeks (hello arfishy! maybe we could meet for a juice lol) and have to get bikini fabulous (no mean feat after 3 pregnancies in 3 years, so come on Jason, do your stuff)

Fingers crossed! I WILL get below 10 stone, I will I will I will!!!!!!!!

mamalovesmojitos · 31/10/2008 15:12

chufinell i am not on the plan at the moment but did it last year as i mentioned above in the thread.

i was hungry the first few days as i was used to eating so much junk and sugar.

i did the two week turbo charge programme, not sure if yours is the same but if you were hungry he recommended having veggie soup or his protein snack attack- avocado mixed with tuna with a squeeze of lemon juice.

do keep with it, dont starve yourself, if you drink lots of water and you're still hungry have some juice or veg or something. the cravings will pass and this week is such an opportunity to get healthy and energised!

what you're attempting is worthwhile.

good luck!

LetThemEatCake · 31/10/2008 15:21

me again - what are you guys doing re: wheatgrass?

LetThemEatCake · 31/10/2008 15:42

I am not getting on at well with this man and the way he prefaces everything with juicy [cringe emocion]

DivaSkyChick · 31/10/2008 16:27

Jeepney, which book do you have again? don't make me scroll!

The soup recipes you wrote down look FAB and salads would also be sweet... is this for a phase after the 7 days diet or instead of?

I'm on day one, just had my second juice which is sorta my fourth since I seem to be making two tall glasses per batch.

I'm hungry but I bet it's all in my head. I also went for a run today. Am very motivated which is good since I'm in the states and today is Halloween where we all PIG OUT on candy. What a day to start juicing, right? At least I'll be done by Thanksgiving.

chuffinell · 31/10/2008 18:41

thank you mama, i have caved in to choc today, but will be back on the juicing tomorrow

im doing the 7 day plan but with a small meal at tea time

i will see out the 7 day plan and see how i get on

thanks for your encouragement, it really helps

i will be giving the soups a go next week - those recipes posted earlier sound lovely

on the positive side, my skin is glowing so its doing some good

nappyaddict · 31/10/2008 18:48

spokette - did aldi have avocados, kale and spinach? managed to get everything but that at the market.

alfiemama · 31/10/2008 20:36

Hi everyone can I join please

Ive spend all day reading this thread and sounds fab, I did ww but realised this morning that I have put most back on, boo hoo
so need a kick start.

So just been to Asda and bought a juicer, bargain only £8.97 and works a treat, even quite easy to clean and all my fruit and veg there was some very odd looks at the checkout, with all my apples.

I havent got the book yet (will get tommorow from whs smith) but got my shopping list from the one early up in the thread.

Just done the turbo juice and I am stuffed, hard work with the avocado though, never had before and dont think it was ripe, it was rock hard lol.

DivaSkyChick · 31/10/2008 20:41

OH MY GOD I'm soooo hungry! My head is killing me, too.

Taking the little one Trick or Treating soon. She's going to have to hold my hand to keep ME from crossing in front of cars.

Someone tell me it gets better!
