Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

oops forgot i'd already asked that!

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 11:42

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 11:43

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 12:31

does anyone have this book?

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 13:16

for those on facebook juicing has changed my life

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 26/10/2008 13:24

the 24.99 is the one i have. so far today have had 2 juices and a small bowl of porridge. i just cant get over the fact that I am drinking juiced celery and enjoying it

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 13:26

pumpkin - do you have to peel the apples first or do you literally just drop them in whole?

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 26/10/2008 13:33

See on the box the woman has an abnormally small apple and also an abnormally small hand, I chop them in to bits but dont peel them.

Apples wont go in whole unless you ram them in/twist them about alot. And Im convinced they would get stuck so I just chop them a bit.

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 13:37

need to find someone with the moulinex one now to compare!

Yorky · 26/10/2008 13:40

This sounds really interesting, almost makes it frustrating that I am 8months pg atm so can't give diets a go personally. I'm sure drinking all the fruit can't be bad anyway.
Seriously thinking about getting DH a juicer and the book for Christmas as he has failed to shift a lb of his sympathy weight from DS (21months)
How soon after birth would it be sensible to increase amount of juices drunk, planning to bf again.
And do your DC drink any?

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 26/10/2008 16:33

aaargh help I want to eat am hungry but I know I shouldn't be. Having cup of tea that might hold it off for a bit...help pleeeeease, my god Im so crap at this!!

CatMandu · 26/10/2008 16:41

I'm planning to start tomorrow, I have a Moulinex juicer and will buy the book around lunchtime followed by a shopping trip to get the fruit/veg. Any advice for a new starter?

poshtottie · 26/10/2008 18:29

catmandu, I would try not to leave too long between juices. I found that I was quite hungry if I didn't have the juices at regular intervals. I did feel grotty for a couple of days from detoxing from coffee but two weeks later I am still having the hot water and lemon in the morning.

I have been a bit naughty over the last couple of days but it was my birthday yesterday so have a good excuse.

Am going to have another go at juicing this week just to detox.

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 26/10/2008 22:50

Is it bad that I had a dream I was shagging a sexy pilot (I was cabin crew) but the best part in the dream was that we got freshly made, warm buttery toast before take off?

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 23:09

catmandu - is your juicer the same one as the £30 one i linked to?

triggerfish · 26/10/2008 23:24

Ah, I wish I had read this thread before I ate my bowl of cereal, toast, apple and crisps (I just put back the second packet of crisps!!). This time of night is a killer for me when I always get an attack of the munchies which always goes out of control. Can a smoothie really stop such binges I'm wondering!???? Sounds like you're doing a fab job, I wish you well with the rest of the diet!

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 26/10/2008 23:41

trigger I have not had any toast/crisps/choc etc since I have started this, althought I have been eating small healthy meals as well as the juices.

nappyaddict · 26/10/2008 23:57

pumpkin how many meals do you have? i was thinking of having just a small dinner but a juice for breakfast and lunch.

pumpkinscantdancethetango · 27/10/2008 00:04

First day I had 2, second day I had 2, today I had 3. As soon as I get to that stage where my blood sugar is low I want to eat toast etc and once I hit that point there is no way back. So 3 small healthy meals with juice between is working well for me atm. Today have had porridge for breakfast, omlette with mushroom for lunch and a home made rice dish for dinner. As well as 4 juices. I just couldn't hack it on any less, I felt really strange.

arfishy · 27/10/2008 01:09

Sounds like it's going well for everybody! Earlier in the month I did juicing for all meals and a light salad for dinner.

Today I've started on the full 7 day plan, including the water with lemon.

No booze, tea or salad. [hardcore]

I hope I drop a dress size. I do I do I do I do I do. I've got 6 weeks until I get back to the UK and am still very somewhat chunky.

Now I have to go and buy a pineapple and wheatgrass.

I have the whole fruit chute juicer btw. It was half price. Very easy to clean and juice with.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 27/10/2008 01:39

Pumpkinscantdancethetango, don't fret about feeling hungry, I did the plan last week and was RAVENOUS. Didn't get the whole "not hungry" thing at all. I did stick it out but it did make me feel ill.

I am now on the next bit of his plan so juices in the day and a meal at night and it is easier although I still feel hungry and rather irritatingly I weighed myself this morning to find that I had put on a pound. Feckfeckfeck.

I can't see why, I eat only juice and then at night a salad + some meat, so not gorging myself on crisps or other shite.

Also the whole washing up the sodding juicer is really getting on my nerves.

Apart from that I think the plan is good. I have lost weight and hope to lose some more.

Jeepney · 27/10/2008 03:25

Well I have just started this morning. Had the hot water with lemon as soon as I woke up. Then had a smoothie for breakfast. It was delicious. Thing is I can't seem to find avocado here and it it in a lot of the recipes, do you think it would be ok to emitt (sp?) it or can anyone suggest an alternative??

I am just about to go for a swim, and the sun is out for the first time in months so might sit by the pool with a good book!

Pumpkin I hope this doesn't sound patronising but one of the lines I think I will find helpful from the book is

'If I didn't know how much I had eaten today, just how hungry would I be"

Plus the book mentions a lot about false hungers which I know I suffer a lot from. I fond water really helps with these.

Jeepney · 27/10/2008 07:32

Just having my 3rd juice of the day, the Bio Live Berries. It is delicious. I am trying to keep in mind that Jason suggests drinking them slowly but its so lovely I am gulping it down!!

Just been to the supermarket and managed to find most of the ingredients I needed though I can't get vegetable stock cubes anywhere which I need every night for the soups, I have bought a chicken one which should be fine with all the veggie soups but with the tomato one I think it might taste a bit strange

I have noticed also that I have been going to the restroom all day, way more than usual. But am feeling ok. Little headache but I get them so often that I don't think it will bother me.

Just going to finish my juice then head off to the gym

I did earlier have 1 crisp, but it was only one and I felt very bad afterwards!! [blush}

spokette · 27/10/2008 10:06

Yorky, my cousin's male friend started juicing in July and has lost 2 stones so far. He is so addicted he is even making up his own recipes!

I have made the detox juice and will be having that throughout the day followed by a small vegetarian meal (possibly chick pea curry and rice) in the evening.

Those of you feeling lightheaded or hungry, are the gaps between having juices too long? When I first started the 7 day plan, I had a juice about every 2-3 hours. As my appetite reduced (by day 4) I could actually go 4-5 hours between juices and towards the end, I was only having a couple of juices a day.

Have just finished day 1. I've had about 10 hot water with lemons, 1 x Super Juice, 1 x Super Chute Juice and a JM's Hot 'n' Spicy.

I'm not hungry, which is good. I've been reading up about interesting juicing facts on the web too and have been very motivated by them.

Jeepney - I think the avocado is quite important. I can't think of what to replace it with - it's providing good fats and protein along with the vitamins etc. How about a small handful of nuts?
