Had no luck with posting this in chat! Must be a skinny bunch in there. Seriously need to shed some weight. After lots of failed attempts over the past few years I'm determined to stick to a long-term plan, reducing calorie intake by a small amount and doing more exercise.

My plan is this - I'm reducing my calorie intake to 1600 per day (to maintain weight I should have 2100) and aim to do a 20 min brisk walk 3 times a week, plus 20-30 mins aerobic exercise 3 times a week (fitness video or Wii fit or swimming).

If anyone is interested in joining in, with maybe a weekly weigh-in then I'd be very glad of the company and support!

Bought some body fat measuring scales yesterday and my body fat percentage is almost 39% which I don't think is good somehow.

thanks all . Hope you all enjoyed lunch! I had a plain old ham and pickle sandwich, but was yummy. MIL had made some fruit cake from a slimming world recipe so that was a nice treat. I tagged along whilst they took dd swimming. It may have inspired me to try a different form of exercise. I'll have to buy a cossie.

Poor old dh seems a bit shell shocked about my news so has gone out for takeaway - his way of doing something nice whilst going off to digest the info - that's just what he's like. I'm trying to go for healthy option - having noodles not rice!

Bumdiddley - I found this 103 cals per shot

bling - could be something foodwise you're missing thats making you feel sluggish in the brain. Have some tuna or nuts (at least I think that's the recommendation). Garlic and Rosemary ryvita are actually quite nice I find.

Romy - how long ago was your blip? Sounds really scary.

birdinatent · 27/08/2008 18:04

been quite good these last 2 days. been having veggy soup for lunch and small portions for tea, but off to football match now!!! can feel a horrible football ground pie coming on

2Happy · 27/08/2008 19:46

Just a quickie - am away on two-day course tomorrow and as ever have left packing until the last minute, eek! (And will probably end up troughing on the free buffet )

Just wanted to say, medogs, hope you're ok and get your investigations quickly x

See you all at the weekend!

Now where did I leave that breast pump.....

oops

Bumdiddley · 27/08/2008 21:15

medogs - thanks! Looks like Appletini is about 300 cals

2Happy - I am also a whore for a buffet!

Bling - I understand about the control. i feel the same way. I really want a few glasses of wine. But am having a peppermint tea.

Romy7 · 28/08/2008 10:37

i was only back driving on 31st july lol, so not long! one of the reasons i decided to take myself in hand a bit and lose some excess flab...

so, food going ok, but have been quite lazy. must get davina out tonight. now dh is home he is walking the dogs, so i'm automatically down an hour a day... going to have to sort my exercise routine out again now, it was going so well!

i looooooove conference buffet. mm mm.

next one 26th sept, not i'm counting lol.

BlingLovin · 28/08/2008 15:14

Does sushi count as super healthy and low cal? Must add to food focus - although must be honest that while I think food focus is great, I get seriously bored on there trying to input individual items. Amt hinking of moving to pre-prepared food - it's all already on there!

Bumdiddley · 28/08/2008 15:49

Oh bling I know. I nearly ate a pot noodle for the very same reason! 400 odd cals so not really bad.

Although, Dh tends to do loads of tomatoey/ bolognesy stuff so I've chucked in tomatoes/garlic/oinion etc in a meal and add chilli/ kidney beans/ mince etc as appropriate.

Sushi is super food!

Difficult day yesterday, friend had to go to hospital to pick up results (good news) so I had her 4 dc's + my 2 dc's (youngest ASD). Hospital running really late so had them nearly 4 hours including while I had the mobile hairdresser here!

When they went dh arrived home and went to the chippy - I was shattered! Only had few chips and 1 bread and butter then went to the gym and burnt 500 cals. Not bad cal wise but hardly balanced, healthy eating.

Had ds's sensory Occupational therapist and disability nurse here this afternoon giving results of assessment - my brain is scrambled now from taking in so much information.

Food wise its going ok. First few days were a struggle but now I think i'm getting used to the changes. I am wearing jeans I couldn't get in a couple of weeks ago although there are some in the wardrobe i'm not ready to try yet! managed to exercise most days so far.

BlingLovin · 28/08/2008 17:00

Sounds like a hectic day tibni. But I wouldn't worry about eating less well if you've done so much good excercise. I think you're losing more by doing exercise than by policing every thing you put in your mouth - last week I was pretty darn good on calories, but bad on exercise and therefore just lost the straight 1lb.

tibni · 28/08/2008 17:38

With me its trying to get the balance. I've been a gym member and gone on average 3 times a week for over 2 years now. My fitness level has increased but not much change in my weight - few pounds on / few pounds off type thing. I've always exercised and pre children I was very skinny and toned; as I have got older and had the dc's weight has gradually crept on and is harder to lose.

I need to take notice of what I eat if I am to make the difference and I have also increased my exercise level to try and kick start me. I do have the inclination to over reduce food so i'm hoping food focus will help me keep to a reasonable level so I can its substainable.

ScotsBird · 28/08/2008 18:14

Hello everybody, I have just seen this thread and wonder if it would be possible to join the class?? I know it's a bit late, but I am committed and will work hard!!

I am 10st12, 5' 7" and would like to lose a stone. I am very fit, and exercise most days (running and cycling), but am a slave to chocolate and sugar, and the evenings are when I seem to turn into a human dustbin! I am 35 in a couple of weeks and have noticed it getting harder and harder to lose weight since moving into my 30s, and I also have a prob with recurrent thrush so sugar is a baaaaad thing for me to eat! Anyway, witter witter witter ... I just want to get to my ideal weight before it gets even harder to achieve.

I have two dcs - dd is just 5 and ds is 2.
Thanks in advance ladies!
SB

Romy7 · 28/08/2008 20:59

hi scotsbird! welcome, feel free - monday is weigh-in, but you probably know that

i'm about to sin dreadfully as dh has turned up with a takeaway.... it smells soooooo good.

but - going camping this weekend with dcs, so should be both starving and burning lots of calories keeping warm and yomping through the woods etc etc so i'm hoping it will even out by monday...

sb - my dd2 is 5 in 3 weeks - but she is my baby xx

Bumdiddley · 28/08/2008 21:07

Hey SB - I would love to be fit!

At the moment though I would just like my thighs not to make a loud slapping noise when I jump up and down

Romy7 - have a lovely weekend and watch out for those pub lunches

cece · 28/08/2008 21:10

Hello all,

An OKish day here, but I did had bacon, sausage, egg and chips for tea Only one sausage though and I poached the egg instead of frying it. Plus about a quarter of my usual amount of chips. So hoping it will be OK. Haven't the heart to put it into food focus. Perhaps I will in a minute.

ScotsBird · 28/08/2008 22:15

Thanks ladies, OK, just had tesco shopping delivered and so cupboards are full of snack-a-jack popcorn (various flavours), go ahead chocolate caramel biscuits and tins of tomatoes (five-a-day, no fat, no calories etc). Fruit bowl full of fruit so will be starting tomorrow with a strong will! Off for an early morning run with my best friend at 7.15am (uurgh) and am going to use food focus website thingy for meticulous recording.

Romy, yomping uses up LOADS of calories, and BD, avoid thigh-slapping noise by not jumping up and down!!

DD is usually my lovely best girl, but not today ... the tantrum she threw which necessitated a firemans lift down the entire length of our street and a stint in her bedroom has coloured my feelings somewhat!

Have a good evening ... am just off to watch The Nominees now.

Bumdiddley · 29/08/2008 09:38

cece - I had sausage, bacon, egg, 2 waffles and black pudding - all fried and that was 647 cals.

SB - they always save the best tantrums for when you have an audience. Must have burnt lots of cals though!!

tibni · 29/08/2008 09:49

Hello and welcome Scotsbird.

Romy have a lovely trip.

cece - as you say you had less than you normally would. I had chippy chips the other day (not many) but the calories weren't too bad.

dd wanted pancakes for breakfast but I resisted and had my oats! Didn't make it to the gym yesterday but had a "walk" (ds runs everywhere) to the castle with ds and all the usual cleaning up after him.

Determined to go to the gym tonight and have a mega session before the weekend.

Have a good day

2Happy · 30/08/2008 08:17

Hello al, back from my course. Glad there've been some sneaky calories from people - makes me feel better about what I've just spent 2 days porking on . And how do you put all that kind of stuff on FF - I wish you could just sort of delete a day, not that that would be honest as clearly took in more calories than burnt off, though was virtuous and went for a run last night - the benefit of no dc's around!!
Welcome to scotsbird
medogs - hope you're ok

2Happy · 30/08/2008 08:18

oh and ps, dh - who told me I was silly for closing the curtains while doing Davina - confessed he did the power of 3 while I was away, and guess what?! He shut the curtains too!!! Wish I'd been here to see him

ScotsBird · 30/08/2008 13:33

Hello all, just on for a moan really, as I have been using food focus for all of 1 day now, and I am totally shocked to realise how many calories I have been putting away! It's mightily depressing really.

Am going to go out for a run later so that I can drink some G&Ts tonight at a barbecue (cos I's fairly certain that eating is now impossible today!).

Stay focused everyone!

tibni · 31/08/2008 19:31

Well, i've had some treats over the weekend but i'm still confident for the weigh - in Monday. How is everyone else doing?

Foodfocus certainly lives up to its name and makes you think about what you are eating, which for me is a really good thing.

medogsarebarking · 31/08/2008 20:52

Hi all, I'm not confident for tomorrow. I've been a bit down this week for obvious reasons and not been particularly good. I've had a few good walks, but I know I've overdone it foodwise.

I'ts AF time too so I know that will have an effect. (Is it effect or affect? I never know...are there any pedants among us who can clue me in? )

I think I'm going to write this week off and start afresh tomorrow (I'll still weigh though, don't think I'll be able to stop myself)..

Anyhoo - just wanted to wish everyone good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure you've all done well.

Welcome to Scotsbird too

BlingLovin · 01/09/2008 08:49

Morning ladies. How is everyone feeling? Medogs, don't be too hard on yourself - it's been a hectic week for you.

I'll start... sadly, as expected, I gained some weight this week as last week was a disaster. On the plus side, I only gained 100g so it's not too bad. Interestingly, I was feeling so out of last week I couldn't face doing food focus - I think that was my killer mistake. Doing it really focuses you. As we all keep pointing out!

I also need to try do some more exercise. This week is going to be awful at work but will try to get food sorted and at least one work out in!

Okay, I've come clean everyone so let's hear where you're at...!
