confession from me, situation has spiralled into direness, help any words of wisdom bingeing badly and probably gaining, need to get my act together but how?

miam · 18/02/2005 10:25

pinksofa - get a diary and start by writing EVERYTHING you eat down - be completely honest. Work out how long it should take you to lose a stone if you lose about 1/2lbs per week which is achievable. Work towards that date. Write down how you will feel once you are at your goal weight and how you feel right now. Buy some slimming mags to inspire you. Make sure you have nothing in the house that you are tempted to binge on - get rid of it all today. Get organised and have plenty of 'allowed' foods and stuff you can nibble on i.e. fruit/salad veg etc. Do an exercise video or some kind of exercise like going for a quick walk THIS MORNING - it will put you in the right frame of mind. Don't make any excuses, just do it (big boot coming out....). You can do this.xx

Meant 1 to 2lbs per week!

Ho - hum - am exactly the same as three weeks ago. Actually that's good news, as have been on holiday for two of those three weeks, and given how ridiculously easily I gain, then to gain little enough in a fortnight that I could lose it again in only a week is quite encouraging (compared to gaining 8.25 lbs in just two days on a weekend away last year).

It's been quite hard this week, as after two weeks away skiing, I've got used to eating a bit more, and I've been so hungry this week trying not to nibble at anything between meals. Massive backlog at work and no time to stop for lunch (or mumsnet!) has helped though. Now I've caught up with that I might even get time to get back to the gym next week, so hopefully I'll get things back on course before long. I do need to, if I'm going to hit my target weight within a year of starting this, which is my main goal at the moment - seem to have slipped from needing to lose 1.5 lbs per week to nearly 1.75 while I was away - oops! Still do-able though, I hope.

went for a run today. first time in a long time. it worked in that I am now too stiff to move towards the kitchen so can't eat much! in fact I feel quite ill from the effort.

Yes I agree! Especially as I wasn't expecting it, had been rather naughty at the week end!
