Help! - my meeting tonight involves taking a sw dish for tasting - what can I do? just can't think, have most cupboard items in, not much fresh fruit and veg as going away saturday.

sticktoit · 21/08/2008 16:06

Furball - how about a baked bean lasagne?? Doesn't sound great but it is really delicious. Make like a normal lasagne but with beans, add whatever you like really....

Furball · 21/08/2008 17:06

gonna say I forgot I've always done something for the other 2 or 3 and not everyone has, so gonna be lazy, sounds bad written down.

babyjjbaby · 21/08/2008 18:33

stick to it can i have recipe for thyat please and instructions souns yummy

heavy · 22/08/2008 08:33

furball - you could just buy something (can you tell I am lazy convenience food woman?).

Alpen light cereal bars (all flavours) are only 3 syns each and you can have 2 bars as a healthy b on either day. They have just launched a new flavour - chocolate and fudge.

I took one along on Tuesday and there was great excitement in group let me tell you!

Also cathedral city lighter cheddar is the cheese of choice in our group. Actually tastes nice and melts ok on toast - you can have 42g as a healthy extra.

have a good holiday x

swlurker: have vision of you with Aga and Cath Kidston accessories! (Home made hamper of sweets! )

heavy · 22/08/2008 08:34

Ha - just realised your meeting was last night furball! Sorry

Furball · 22/08/2008 12:09

thanks anyway heavy

I took a tin of branston chickpeas in masala sauce(a big effort ) which could do with being stronger IMHO, very wishy washy

colette · 22/08/2008 19:25

I have been lurking but not doing that great. My weight has stayed the same the last 2 weeks ! So I am obviously not getting something wrong
Nemoandthefishes how do you do a day without any sins let alone 3 Can you give me an example of one of your good day's food please. I need some inspiration. Hope you enjoyed your KFC . Heavy if your shape is changing that's brilliant and yo have nearly lost a stone well done.

colette · 22/08/2008 19:33

I meant to say obviously I am getting something wrong

Furball · 22/08/2008 19:35

I eat mostly green days and have

milk allowence

1oz cereal off the list for brekkie with 1 teaspoon sugar = 1 syn and a banana

lunch = jacket pot with beans or homemade veggie soup with pots or pasta in to fill you up. free yoghurt (I eat total 0% with fresh strawberries or other fruit)

Tea - masssooove homemade spag bol with mince from option b and loads of veg like peppers, onion, garlic, toms, grated carrot etc and option a cheese. chopped apple and nectarine for pudding

colette · 22/08/2008 19:47

Thanks furball - so that's only one syn for the whole day?. Looks good. Soup with pasta in is a good idea, I think of lunch = sandwiches and then use up 5 syns on an extra piece of bread . Real food diaries make it more obvious to me the sort of things I should be eating when I am stuck in a rut
Have only skim read the last few pages - well done swlurker and sticktoit It obviously works , I have to work out where I am going wrong.
Must get ds out of the bath he is covered in chickenpox

3andnomore · 23/08/2008 07:51

Baby, good idea to join the class , even if you only plan to go for a few weeks, like you said, that way you can get the books, etc.!
As for cookbooks/recipes....I like to try recipes out, but you are right, especially curry recipes have a large amount of ingredients. But the flavours that you can create are amazing....and the spices are all synfree, unlike the paste.
Probably a bit late about telling you the synvalue of oil by now....

well done heavy....but I know what you mean you are disappointed...it can be disheartening when you loose less then you thought...however, you say you realy think you shape has changed, and that is more important than the number on the scales, isn't it really.
Also, have you measured yourself....I do regularly and that way you can find out far better how your body is changing

Well, we were away from Monday till Thursday...Camping....but had lots of meals out etc....so, hohum...think I might have put a fair few pounds on, sigh
Also had a bit of a choclate binge yesterday....well, today is another day

3andnomore · 23/08/2008 07:59

Colette, it's quite easy to have synfree days, if you fill up wiht lots of fruit and vegetable and free yoghurts...

Furball, I tried the Chickpeas masala and wasn't that impressed with it, neither...inoffencive but boring flavours, isn't it?
Morrison does a few other Branston things. Might still give those a try and hope they are better than the chickpeas in masala sauce.
When we had to take food in, I did some little Meatballs and also made the homemade BBQ sauce...which is superdelicious and not that difficult to make.

Heavy, those new alpen bars are gorgeous, aren't they!

SWlurker...homemade sweets hamper...your dad is a lucky man

babyjjbaby · 23/08/2008 10:46

hello everyone hope u r all ok i am still doing ok but going to try and have no more than 5 syns a day the rest of the week

need some tips please

slimming world chips= how do u do them i bolied them till they were real soft then put them in oven with frylight but they came out as a pan of mush bar a few crispy one what have i done wrong ?

curry= made a curry with some tinned tomatoes oninons mushrooms and curry powder it was vile what else could i do ?

sticktoit · 23/08/2008 12:57

babyj

syn free chips - you only need to par-boil them for 5 minutes at the most. They must still be quite firm. Put them back in the pan with a plate over the top and shake them so that the chips fluff up a bit. Then put them in a hot oven for about 25/30 mins.

3andnomore · 23/08/2008 22:54

Choose a potatoe that is alright for baking...

Curry...honestly it is all the different little spices that make them lovely..also...with pretty much all tomatoe based sauces, Curry or Italian, etc...I always add a little sweetener as that brings the flavour out better...

if you don't want to use to much salt as such and not want to use to much Bovril, etc...try a bit of Soyasauce...no matter what you are cooking...it gives most dishes a good flavour!

babyjjbaby · 24/08/2008 13:56

thanks will try doing chips agin this week just bought a pressure cooker from boot sale so will be trying that out aswell for doing potatoes for lunch

Tommy · 24/08/2008 17:41

well, back from holiday and I have put on 3lbs

I need to get back on track - lots of tips and things here while I've been away so will read up on it all later

3andnomore · 24/08/2008 22:26

3Ibs doesn't seem to be to bad....afterall, Holidays are there to be enjoyed!

I have decided that I will tret the week after my next weigh in as my first week again....

heavy · 25/08/2008 15:51

3 lb not bad at all Tommy, hope you enjoyed yourself

Haven't tried the branston thing but we have asda chick pea daal (tinned) quite a lot, that's quite nice and free on green

3andnomore · 25/08/2008 18:05

oh I love the Asda Chickpea Dahl...now that is gorgous
If I am in a rush I either have that or I have Couscous (those flavoured ones)....well, on a green day

Tommy · 25/08/2008 21:40

I might have to try the chickpea thing. I did a SW version of Jamie Oliver chickpea salad today for a picnic as well as a rice salad and couscous - have to try to get back on the wagon!

heavy · 26/08/2008 11:08
