hi columbo I think it's butter x

Candlewax · 21/10/2008 23:52

I've tried butter and cress as passwords tonight and it won't let me on. Is anyone else having problems getting into the members section of SW? It was our consultant's last night tonight so she did not do a proper session, just a weigh in and we all went to the pub, hence why I don't know the password.

SnoopDog · 22/10/2008 00:05

Hi Shreksmissus (brill name) and welcome! I'm just lurking on this thread because I used to do SW and will probably come and do it again at some point

WW going ok - I think - missed my first WI this week so don't really know had a naughty day yesterday with a meal out so blew it from the beginning of the day, but back on track now.

Im enjoying the fact that eating ready meals means I know I'm controlling my portions, which is what I needed to do, and I'm not hungry, but I miss homecooked food, and I'm not any closer to getting to grips with the points values of ingredients. Think if I can succeed like this for a bit I can switch to their SW copy plan, because then at least I'll have control over my portion sizes again, hopefully.

ckc · 23/10/2008 16:19

hi shreksmissus welcome I'm sure anything you need to know just ask away and you get a reply....X

Smoothies or pureed, blended or cooked fruit are all syns I'm afraid. Reason being that if you at the fruit in its raw/natural state it would fill you up more than drinking it.

Ingredients - some of the food that isn't free on green but is on red and vice versa can be counted as a healthy Extra B choice - e.g. if you make spaghetti carbonara on a green day, you can have loads of spaghetti, 85g ham (you can count that as a healthy extra B choice OR as syns) and then the white sauce would be syns on either day.

SparkyPup · 26/10/2008 09:56

Good grief!!! Just planning out menus for next week and checked the syn value of Sainsbury?s BGTY soups ... they are around 10 syns (and more) each!!!! A special mention too for Asda?s GFY Tuscan Bean soup which comes in at a hefty 13 syns!!! How??? These are all marketed as less than 3%/1% or whatever fat! I guess it will be to do with the sugar content or something, but it?s disappointing and means I might have to put some effort into planning lunches (I was trying to avoid that!!) I notice Asda?s ratatouille provencale is only 1 syn ? guess I?ll be living on it for while. Does anyone have any ideas for ?grab-a-tin? lunches that won?t blow the diet? I?m going to make soup tonight with Sainsbury?s soup mix (prepared vegetables .... lazy again ), broth mix and veg stock, so that should be free so long as I use the right stock! Had a night off last night and made an Indian meal. Don?t want to even look up ?Sharwoods?, far less ?Saag Masala? after what I found out about the ?healthy? soups .... it was lovely tho?

FreakyLadyFrightALot · 26/10/2008 13:28

Sparky, soups are sadly quite high in syn, unless homecooked...no idea why really....when I did WW core plan thingy I was able to eat tinned soups as they are free on that plan....hohum...

as for lunch ideas....I am at Uni most days and if I don't have time to prepare in advance I tend to have a green day and take Mugshots (the noodle ones are usually free...however,no one seems to know if the new one, the Thai one is free or not, , our consultant has contacted head office and even they couldn't say...which is kinda rubbish).... there is also a Snack Pack Couscous (Med tomatoe one), which is nice enough!
Or, if you like SW quiche, then that is great for lunch and you cna vary what you put in and either keep it neutral or make it a red or green one....
or make couscous/rice/pasta salads....
I always also take some fruit and yoghurts

FreakyLadyFrightALot · 26/10/2008 13:29

Oh some tinned soups can be used as Healthy Extras....have a look in your book!

SparkyPup · 26/10/2008 20:49

Thanks Freaky, I used to make the SW quiche (that was the one made with pasta'n'sauce or savoury rice, cottage cheese, etc?) Someone on this thread a while ago said it looked like vomit when it was at the mixing stage but tasted ok ... well, with a recommendation like that you could hardly wait to try it, right? . Actually, they were right on both counts so I used to make it for lunch quite a lot and will def. do it again. Got a bunch of muller lights in the fridge too, so I'm OK. Just so shocked by the soups! (I'm getting over it now though ) and will check out how much of a tin is allowed as a HEB (About 1/16th of a tin I imagine .... Perhaps I'll just open the tin and waft it about a bit ...!)

kid · 26/10/2008 20:54

I am having a break from SW. I did well on it but have got so much going on at home, I can't concentrate on food and haven't got time to prepare 2 or 3 different meals each day.

I have however been doing more exercise than ever before because I got a wii fit. I do at least 1/2 of exercise every day so hopefully that will have some benefit.

I'll be back on SW next Monday when I return to work.

Hope everyone else is coping well and not being tempted by those halloween goodies.

FreakyLadyFrightALot · 26/10/2008 21:12

cottage cheese is so not my thing.....possibly because it does like vomited up curdled milk...shudder...

I use either Quark or Greek yoghurt...much better...
this is what I do if I do a "neutral" quiche:

Fry Mushrooms/Peppers/Leek/ onions/ spinach/tomatoes and season to taste.

Mix about 4-5 eggs with Quark/Greek yoghurt and also add a healthy extra grated cheese in

place prepared vegetables into a quiche dish
pour over the Egg mixture, mixing it through

thank into the oven and voila...delicious and no vomit look about it

and you can make this, of course fit for a red or green day....whatever takes your fancy... canned salmon/tuna is lovely, or ham or bacon....supernice...
or add peas and sweetcorn etc...for a green day quiche....

SparkyPup · 26/10/2008 22:25

Yum! You've put me in the mood to go and make one right now but as its about 10.15, i'll hold fire. Made my veg soup though (talking of things that look a bit like vomit!). It's quite good. However, if we keep likening SW recipes to vomit, I reckon we'll lost loads of weight simply by putting ourselves off food completely .... hey ..... it's crazy .... but it just might work ....! Kid, I've never tried the wii fit, tho' have heard it feels very weird (realistic) and is quite addictive. Half an hour a day is pretty good (it's half an hour more than me anyway ). Good luck with getting back on the SW wagon!

kid · 26/10/2008 23:33

The wii fit is amazing. It really does give you a good work out. Try doing the hula hoop for 6 minutes, my poor sides didn't know what had happened to them!

I am addicted to the step aerobics too. I much prefer that than going to the gym because no-one is watching me and I don't have to sort out childcare.

It also measures your BMI and your weight. So out with the scales, I'll let the wii fit monitor my weight. According to it, I have lost 3lb this week but thats probably what I had already put on! Still, 3lb off is good and will certainly keep me happy.

SparkyPup · 27/10/2008 20:54

Hmm ... I think I've just decided what I want for Christmas .

ckc · 27/10/2008 21:29

Well just got back from my weigh in stuck this week gutted....x

SparkyPup · 28/10/2008 00:00

Aw ckc, that's rotten ... I was reading back on this thread and you've done so well - 11 1/2 lb in three weeks. If you think you were good this week it'll probably come off next week - not much consolation right now I know, but way back when I was being really dedicated to SW I had some weeks like that, when I thought "what the ...?" as I had been good and lost nothing, but it DID come off the next week (so long as I continued to be good) plus a bit. Try not to let it get you down. Also, (girlie stuff) but if you are due your period or it has JUST started, i found that made a difference, which was often compensated for the following week. In fact, i could lose quite a lot the following week because I no longer had the bloating I'd had the week before! So my diary was like, small loss, small loss, no loss (or gain even ), then WAHOO! good loss!! You are doing so well, try not to feel too disappointed.

Tommy · 28/10/2008 08:36

Help!!

Weighed myself on my scales this morning as I usually weigh in at toddler group and there isn't any today - and they told me I have put on 6lbs

That can't be right can it? In a week?

I just hope my scales are running out of batteries or something. I feel like eating a pasty followed by 3 doughnuts....
