Happy September Everyone!

We made it through the heatwaves and summer holidays!
I am so ready for the cooler weather, the start of Autumn and to get back into routine!

I wonder how many steps we can all do in September ?
Let's go!!!

Ended yesterday on 5668. Hoping to get a walk in today feel like I need a stretch

husbandcallsmepickle · 24/09/2026 21:21

11733 today

@Joolly2am curious about your lentil Cottage pie, how was it?

Joolly2 · 24/09/2026 23:48

Evening all, finishing the day on 12,676. Second day of no naps, yay!

@husbandcallsmepickle I added some mustard to the mash along with some cheese and it gave it a lovely zing. It's my go to recipe when I'm stuck for something have. As I'm the only one who eats it I can make it stretch 3 or 4 meals. Bonus - I won't have to cook for a few days 😄 It was delicious.
@WorthySloth did you manage to get a walk today?

Clearingaspace · 25/09/2026 19:08

Ooh thats great on all counts @Joolly2 have to fess up to a nap today but actually I haven’t been taking the vitamin d 🤔. I love the sound of your cooking - I am also the only fan of lentils in my family.

well done @husbandcallsmepickle

11500 today but only 7000 yesterday

10kstepsaday · 25/09/2026 22:18

Weds - 9.6K
Thurs - 8.7K
Today - 9K

Well done everyone!!
@Joolly2 the cottage pie sounds delish!!

I am still wondering where Autumn is?? Why is it still so hot and sunny 🤣

I missed the chat about vitamin d but I ALWAYS have low levels whenever I have been tested and was told a few yrs ago to take high dose vit d all year round! It does make me feel better!

Happy Friday everyone! 🥳

OP posts:
husbandcallsmepickle · 26/09/2026 08:27

Friday was 11150, a good way to end the week

I'm loving the warm weather and spending as much time as possible outside

10kstepsaday · 26/09/2026 09:59

@husbandcallsmepickle I am just so ready for Autumn and feeling cozy after that crazy hot summer 🤣 but I admit I will miss the sun for sure when we are in the bleak winter months!! So should stop moaning really.

That cold recently really knocked me for 6, today was the first day I felt up for doing any proper movement! So this morning have done a 20 min step workout and feel great for it yay!! It's gonna be a good day!

What's everyone reading ATM too?
I just finished tattooist of auschwitz, has anyone read this? Going to watch the series on TV too now.

OP posts:
WorthySloth · 26/09/2026 11:48

I’ve read the tattooist of auschwitz thought it was really good. Currently having a bit of an Agatha Christie binge 🤣🤣

10kstepsaday · 26/09/2026 15:36

@WorthySloth it was so good right!!
I have just picked up Cilkas Journey from the library.

I have never read Agatha Christie!

OP posts:
WorthySloth · 26/09/2026 16:00

I love Agatha Christie. I downloaded a kindle volume with about 50 of her books in which was free. I’ve probably read most of them before but they definitely keep me guessing. I’d like to go and visit her house we aren’t really that far away.

Clearingaspace · 26/09/2026 17:16

Ooh yes I read ToA last year, funnily enough, and also found it good/interesting. You might like All the Light you Cannot See if you haven’t read it @WorthySloth and @10kstepsaday

10kstepsaday · 26/09/2026 19:49

What's your favourite @WorthySloth
Or any you recommend starting with?
@Clearingaspace ooh yes that is definitely in my TBR pile! I am sure. Same as crawdads!! So many books so little time.

I am at 12.3k steps for today, that morning step work out started the day off nicely but we have been to town today, lots of steps from the car to the shops and library and then we walked to the park and back too!

Hope everyone's had a lovely Saturday!

OP posts:
10kstepsaday · 27/09/2026 19:52

7.6K for me today!

OP posts:
WorthySloth · 27/09/2026 20:35

Murder on the orient express is always a good one any poirot book is excellent tbh. Also miss marple. The others are brilliant too but those are probably the best entry level ones

WorthySloth · 27/09/2026 20:36

My steps have been shocking this week tbh which is why I haven’t been posting them 🤣🤣 44630 for the whole week. Oh well.

husbandcallsmepickle · 27/09/2026 20:39

11653 yesterday and 11607 today. It's been a busy weekend!
I'm reading The Salt Path and mentally planning a trip to Cornwall.

Onegramatatime · 28/09/2026 01:19

I have read the thread and I am all caught up.

I have been absent for a while - a couple of significant negative events, developed constant fatigue, two DC sitting exams and falling ill at the start of exam week, unable to contact my Dad for over a week requiring an emergency 6hr travel!
But I am back now and hope to get back into the grove.

7549 steps today.

@Joolly2 , your lentil pie sounds delish actually. I tend to have lentil shopping binges but then don't end up cookong them. No one likes it in my home, just myself. Welldone in your steps 🥳

@10kstepsaday , is the 'tattooist of auschwitz' a sad book. I have xome across it often and I got interested but have not been bold enough for fear it will be a tearjerker.

@husbandcallsmepickle , the Salt Path author (d wife) was in the news recently a lot. It was quite negative press. And some of it relating to her book. How is the reading going so far?

@Clearingaspace , i have 'All The light You Cannot See'. I have tried a couple of times, I found it hard to get into but I will try again and persist as you recommend it. I will try it again.

@WorthySloth , welldone on your steps. They may be a little lower than your usual high count but you always make it up.

10kstepsaday · 28/09/2026 08:08

Thanks @WorthySloth
Added to my TBR list on Goodreads 👍🏻
Some weeks are like that, don't worry!

Well done @husbandcallsmepickle
I have read The Salt Path! Before all the controversy came about 🤣 I did really enjoy the read though. Would love to do the walk too!!

Sorry to hear it's been a rough time recently @Onegramatatime
We are all here for a chat and a rant!! Well done on the steps!!
The ToA is a sad book by its nature but it didn't make me cry.....however I have never cried at a book! Even A Little Life which everyone said would definitely make me cry, I didn't shed a tear!! Not sure why as I am quite a cryer in real life and if anyone else cries around me I will cry in empathy with them 🤣

I just found ToA interesting from a historical point of view. I know it is fiction but based on a true account.

OP posts:
Clearingaspace · 28/09/2026 09:06

@10kstepsaday really sorry to hear, sounds like a very stressful time.

I think the ToA might have given me a slight tear wibble/ pause for thought, but the story is more about finding a way of surviving day to day whilst also supporting people around you. It’s not setting out to devastate the reader. The actual story part of the book isn’t that long either so it’s a fairly quick read if you don’t read the facts sections.. I hope you get into all the light, it’s annoying when books just don’t catch your interest and feel a slog.

7656 Saturday - but some steps were walking home from a pub and got added to Sunday which was 13194

WorthySloth · 28/09/2026 09:14

I live near part of the SW coast path and very near the village where Sal and Tim did a pub quiz. In a pub that has never ever done pub quizzes 🤣🤣

Clearingaspace · 28/09/2026 09:22

@WorthySloth 😂 I haven’t read the salt path, but there are stacks of threads on here discussing the couple, I have never read Agatha Christie so am going to definitely do so.

@10kstepsaday one day in the life of Ivan denisovich is a book you might like from a similar interest/history point of view - although i needed to read around it on Wikipedia

WorthySloth · 28/09/2026 09:33

I’ve been on the salt path threads from the beginning

10kstepsaday · 28/09/2026 16:08

@WorthySloth that sounds about right 🤣
@Clearingaspace ooh thank you, also added to my list!

I have just started reading Cilias Journey, and also a non fiction about the chemicals in our brain, v interesting!

Currently at 8.1k steps today, have been at a museum today so quite a bit of wondering around! Hoping to get it up to the 10k by bedtime.

WorthySloth · 28/09/2026 09:33

I’ve been on the salt path threads from the beginning

Ahh thats a coincidence, I think I read part of the first salt path thread when the movie came out @WorthySloth but mainly just seen them in active threads occasionally and was surprised there were so many - I should read the book or watch the movie out of curiosity ar some point.

Sounds a nice day @10kstepsaday - I haven’t been to a museum in ages, we used to go pretty regularly when dc were little.

my steps haven’t counted correctly but think am on approx 12,000 as no work today and have been for a walk and done some shopping

husbandcallsmepickle · 28/09/2026 21:25

It's an easy book to read and I'm enjoying it. I've read some of the controversy about it but hasn't let it stop me enjoying the book.
Today's steps are 10486.
